Guest Reviews
- Edward (10/5): A unique and unforgettable stay in a stunning medieval location with incredible views and a very welcoming host - From the moment we arrived, the experience was genuinely memorable. We traveled from Ciampino Airport using public transport (Cotral bus, booked via the app), which was simple and affordable, and Rocca di Papa was the final stop. The property itself is very clean, beautifully decorated in a rustic medieval style, and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The views are absolutely breathtaking, truly one of the highlights, especially watching the landscape stretch out to the horizon. The host was very welcoming and helpful, even meeting us and assisting with transport to the property. The surrounding area is charming, with small streets to explore, restaurants, and supermarkets within walking distance. Easy access to Rome (about 1h15 to the city center via Anagnina metro).
What we also enjoyed was the unique atmosphere of the town itself, the steep cobbled streets, winding paths, and hidden stairways feel like stepping back into medieval times. The architecture built into the rock is truly impressive, and exploring the village on foot, both going up and down the hillside, is an experience in itself. At the same time, the area offers much more to explore, including the surrounding mountains, nearby archaeological sites, an observatory, and Lake Albano, all within reach and adding to the overall experience. Despite its character and atmosphere, the accommodation was very quiet at night, with no noise or disturbance, making it extremely cozy and relaxing. The main challenge was the lack of mobile signal in Rocca di Papa, which made communication and navigation difficult on arrival. It is very important to arrange a clear check-in time with the host in advance, as coordinating on the spot can be difficult; we had to rely on Google Maps in offline mode, using the blue location dot to guide ourselves through the town by following our position on the map. In our case, even with three different network carriers (including UK and an Italian SIM), we had no signal at all, so we were lucky the host managed to find us in the town centre. He kindly met us and drove us to the property. The town’s steep, winding medieval streets can also feel overwhelming at first especially when arriving. The bathroom is quite small, with the shower and toilet in the same space, although this is understandable given the historic building.
- Alexandra (7/5): - Krásny výhľad, autentické talianske ubytovanie, kontakt s domácimi obyvateľmi. V blízkosti je supermarket. Dostupnosť do centra Ríma cca 1,5 hodiny, rovnako aj k moru.

- Majorska (8/5): Very good - The apartment was clean, nicely, and comfortable. We had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The host was extremely kind and welcoming, which made our experience even better. ❤️
- William (7/5): Home guest accommodation with separate room - Beautiful view from Rocca di Papa looking down on Rome Very poor bus service Locals not cooperating to help Got stuck at the bus stop waiting for local bus for 2 hours When bus arrived driver refused saying he was traveling on to another destination
- Anny (7/5): Good - Gorgeous view Extremely far from the city
- Uroš (1/5): Nice view, too far from the city, moldy, but the host is really friendly - Nice view from the outside Can’t find it on maps, I drove for an hour to find where it is, and it’s moldy and dusty apartment, with very strong smell of mold.
- Cutajar (10/5): Exceptional - It was amazing location. The owner is very nice and helpful 😊
- Slava (8/5): Very good - An absolutely wonderful town high in the mountains. The view of Rome, the volcanic lakes, and the surroundings is impressive, especially at sunset. The town has a family-run tavern where we had the best pasta of our entire trip to Italy. The apartments themselves are located in a maze of very narrow streets. The host warmly met us at the parking and guided us to the room; we wouldn't have found it on our own. The apartments have a tiny terrace with a stunning view. The studio room itself is very small but quite comfortable and has everything needed for a two- to three-day stay. It is clean enough. Quiet. If you want to visit the Pope's summer residence, see stunning sunsets, and experience how ordinary Italians live in a completely non-touristy place, then in terms of price and quality, these apartments are good. There is no shower cabin in the apartment, and you will have to wash over the toilet - this is extremely inconvenient and not very hygienic.
- Katelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gwenda (8/5): Good for a meditation retreat or calm time - Very nice little studio in the mountains over Rome.
It has a bed small kitchen space and a bathroom with hot water and amazing water pressure.
Very calm area. The communication with the owners was so fluid and smooth they are so nice. It was super far from Rome I did not pay attention while booking and thought it was near(so my bad). It was non refundable so we had to deal with it.
If you are planning to stay there to visit Rome a car is a must. Even with a car somedays it took us 45 minutes and in peak hours it took us 1h15 minutes to reach.
There is nothing really close if you are planning to eat at night and no supermarket. So you should bring food or eat out while heading back from Rome.
To reach the house you have to go down a hill amd some stairs so be prepared if you have bags for the way up.
- Stephen (10/5): picturesque - Very friendly and welcoming, the views are amazing. property very reasonable price. would recommend.
- Ioana (8/5): Very good -
- Venus (5/5): Passable -
- Andjela (9/5): Superb - The apartment is very safe and comfortable that comes with the most beautiful view. The payed Netflix and Youtube definitely come in handy. The staff which gave us our privacy, was very sweet. The price meets the apartment value. Would recommend! The location is a bit far, but if you love walking and exploring – it's a good experience!
