No tea/coffee making options in the room. No ensuite toilet with the room, it's a compromise because of the building's design.

It took a while for us to identify that it is the right place we booked in for the room. After finding a staff and contacting them everything went well. We got the room.

The whole place is very historic and lovely to look at. The views from the hotel looking at the river was lovely, and worth getting a room with the views, we will next time for sure. Staff very nice too, very helpful. We had an inside room so had a wall outside the window. The beds was like sleeping on a slab of marble, extremaly hard. The aircon was a very loud very old rattler, did keep room cold, and drowned out the noise of the pub. But after pub closed, it was way too noisy to have on during the night. Other issue with the aircon was it was in the wall about 8 foot high, so couldnt control the temp, did get a bit cold in the evening, and turning it on and off a lot as room got stuffy quickly when it was off. Window couldnt be opened.

• Andy the Travel Bug (6/5): Majestic stay on tbe waterfront - Absolute river front on Quay street. Very old majestic hotel of a grand scale that dates back to early 1900s. The beauty of this majestic building with its stained glass windows, royal staircase and history dripping from the walls is amazing. Overall an amazing place to stay. Sadly the building needs quite a bit of money spending on it to bring back its former glory. This could be the premier place to stay right on the waterfront next to many restaurants and downtown shops should the owner choose to see its potential. Toss the beds in the bin and buy some more modern mattresses in Queen size but seek the antique for poster bed look. Beautify the rooms with better decore, more antique furniture such as a bureau for the ladies with a mirror. That paint jpb on the ceiling is sacrilige, some plaster filligrees on the cornicing and chandelier in the middle to bring a sence of prestige. Anyway just my 2c worth seeing opportunity begging.

• Mark (10/5): - Staff are very accommodating and honest -- I almost left without my watch. Realized that I am not wearing it halfway our long drive. I called them and they went far and beyond, made the fastest action they can to look for it before the next guest comes. Thank you very much, Criterion Hotel staff on that day, especially the one on the reception--forgot to ask the name but you know who you are. Bless your heart! Just not having elevators. We have a toddler, our baggage are maxed up, it's hard walking back and forth carrying it. If you know you know. If one is single or not having small kids, there's nothing not to like about staying here.
