- Danielle (10/5): Beautiful cottage - Beautiful cottage - was perfect for what we needed! Everything was in walking distance.
There were so many nice touches to the cottage and the bed was super comfy!
Our dog also enjoyed her stay, bonus points for being pet friendly 😊
- Jonathan (10/5): - Spacious and very well appointed. Tastefully furnished, well equipped kitchen, washing machine and abundant high quality products. Nil
- robert (10/5): -
- Diana (5/5): Great location but not great value - Location, living room and bedroom were great. Supplies provided were also good and the decor was good. Kitchen, bathroom and outdoor areas were disappointing given the cost per night.
- farwester (10/5): Another good stay at Fannys - This was our second stay at Fannys and it did not disappoint. We love the location, the space, and the age of the building. We'll definitely stay again. It was a shame we could only do one night this time. Mattress was a bit firm for us, but would be perfect for many.
- Graeme (10/5): Perfect will stay again - NA All Good
- Anne (9/5): A clean, cosy and comfortable cottage that I would highly recommend - Very comfortable bed
Well fitted out
Very clean
Great location
Plenty of room for a couple Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Excellent accommodation in a perfect location - Very comfortable with all the facilities needed. Superb location in the centre of Beechworth.
- Phil (10/5): - Pleasantly surprised on how large the Cottage is. Beautifully appointed and everything you need for a short or long stay. Great location
- Bretton (8/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): Great cottage in perfect location. - Location is perfect. Cottage was very comfortable. We will be back, hopefully for a longer stay. Nothing comes to mind.
- Lisa (9/5): Definately worth a visit, it will become our regular stop from here - Great location, very well presented and clean. Had everything we needed Nothing really - back yard fence needs some attention
- Patrick (10/5): Would definitely stay again. Loved it - Lovely host.
The property was very clean and beautifully decorated which made it such a pleasure to stay. Everything was provided to ensure comfort and convenience and even our miniature dachshund was welcomed.
Right in the centre of town so just a short walk to everything.
- MelM (10/5): A delightful stay in a delightful cottage! - The location was perfect - right in the midst of the historic Beechworth town but still quiet and comfy. The decor was gorgeous, the bed and couch were comfy and the owners had thought of everything. I loved how the owners had also put together a thoughtful booklet about the history of the cottage. Our stay was an absolute delight and I'll definitely be back. Nothing!
- Anne (9/5): Loved our stay. Very comfortable with loads of small inclusions which make it feel like home - Great location Noise from umbrella outside. Needs some strapping around it.
- Robyn (9/5): Beautiful Beechworth - Loved the very comfy ks bed and location.
It was great to be able to have our little dog with us and the cottage was well appointed and charming. Location is fabulous., however parking is an issue through the day unless you park in the next block and walk. I'd stay again, it was very convenient. It's quite noisy being on a laneway and also having the restaurant next door using the front entrance/verandah with tables and chairs made a bit of noise through the entire day so had to keep the door closed.
- Sue (10/5): -
- Clare (8/5): -
- William (10/5): Love this place very comfortable - Bed very comfortable, location extremely convenient host has provided everything for a comfortable stay. The outside of the property seemed a little dirty. Could do with a washdown or a coat of paint. Can be a little noise from the laneway next to he bedroom
- Darryl (10/5): Great location, great ambience and charm. A little Beechworth gem. - Great location. Heaps of character. Lovely ambience. Perfect for a couple. Nothing.
- Hannah (7/5): Light filled bedroom, not for the tall, cosy cottage, coffee on your doorstep. - Located right in the middle of town, walking distance to everything. Whilst accommodation is in the centre of town, it also sits behind a cafe, so when you walk out your front door in the morning we had to ask the table of diners to move off the bench seat so we could sneak past with our suitcases.
- Karlene (10/5): Quick weekend break with my husband and dog - Cute very well presented with nice touches of dressing gowns Nothing
- Peter (8/5): - Perfect location and a comfortable, spacious cottage. References to financial penalties for minor inconveniences to the owners were a turn-off.
- Karl and Nicole (9/5): -
- Pam (10/5): -
- Luke (8/5): - Cosy place Parking restrictions out the front.
- Bernadette (10/5): We had a lovely time in Fanny Phillips Cottage. It was great to find a dog friendly place! - The little cottage was in a great location. So close to the centre of town. The cottage was very comfortable. We could relax in the evening and watch tv. The bed was extremely comfortable. Nothing!
- Val (10/5): Excellent - Well designed. Clean and comfortable.Would love to stay again.
- van der Schoot (10/5): An excellent place to stay. Very thoughtful owners. - Brilliant location and fits with the history of the town. Well equipped, great instructions, very comfortable. We would definitely return.
- Naomi (10/5): Very comfortable and charming. - Absolutely charming and in a great location. Pet friendly.
- Susan (8/5): -
- Meg (10/5): - Living room was really cosy, the bed was huge and comfortable. Location was in the very heart of town, perfect for exploring by foot. It was very cold in winter, we had the reverse cycle blasting!
- Malcolm (9/5): - Excellent location in centre of town, clean, comfortable and with thoughtful touches.
- Bernie (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terri-lea (8/5): A cottage with plenty of character - We loved Fanny Phillips Cottage. It was comfortable, thoughtfully furnished and decorated, in a great central location, it had a cool historical backstory, had those little touches such as coffee pod machine with generous amount of pods, a few sachets of porridge to get us by, a large, comfortable bed that was so similar to our bed at home that I kept thinking I actually was home when I woke up in the morning, it had seperate bedroom/lounge (loved this!), a small courtyard, streaming service on the tv, washer/dryer (loved this too!). We were sad to leave after our four nights, but all good things must come to an end.
While there are some rough edges to this old cottage, it still has its original charm intact. We really appreciated that the history of the place is valued and that it wasn't gutted of its 19th century features to turn it into a soulless white-painted box. We're fed up with those boring, white boxes. Fanny Phillips cottage had a bit of the namesake about it by being not boring, a little colour although not too colourful, maybe a little rough around the edges where she could tart herself up a little.
We'd love to stay again.. Okay, well, there were a couple negatives. I hate to mention them because, for the most part, we were very happy with our stay.
We were woken at 5.10 one morning by the garbo backing into the alley and taking bins up and down the alley right outside our bedroom window. It also woke up the people staying in cottage accommodation next to ours. Then at 7.15 the grease waste truck turned up to run its pipe down the alley to pump a grease trap.
This is not the cottage management's fault, nor is it the cottage owner's fault, nor is it the waste management people's fault. They have to do their job. It's not personal. And the property hosts are providing accommodation next to commercial premises and we as guests know that going into the booking and should be a lot more forgiving of any commercial activities going on nearby. But, in saying that, it would be nice to know what we were in for on that particular morning. .
- Joshua (9/5): Great history and character - N/A Host responded to a minor cleanliness problem
- Tavis (8/5): Good location in CBD, cosy little cottage - Location, being right in amongst the shops and Main Street Being dog friendly I would have thought the backyard may have had real grass or being more dog friendly. Could also do with having an oven as there is limited cooking availability with one burner and microwave
- Julie (10/5): Very comfortable and convenient - Location and cleanliness Nothing
- Ana (10/5): Gorgeous super comfy cottage in the heart of Beechworth - Gorgeous small cottage in the heart of Beechworth. Everything is on your doorstep, supermarket, cafes , restaurants and bars. Bed was really comfy, kitchen had everything you needed for a short stay and place was spotless. Tks to the hosts for making this place so special. If we hadnt come all the way from Ireland , we would be back !
- Ian (9/5): Well above expectations - The little extras such as bath robes. Nothing
- Marybeth (10/5): Exceptional - We just loved everything about this neat, comfortable and private space. It was right in the centre of Beechworth, close to cafes, boutiques and a supermarket. The hosts were helpful and had thought of everything you need within the accomodation. We would have no hesitation in staying in this same place again. Loved it.
- Loriana (6/5): Good location, comfortable bed - No breakfast provided Every time we showered a foul stench would come up from the drain and we would have to keep the bathroom door closed
- Graham (9/5): Superb -
- Jillian (8/5): Very good - Central location. Comfortable bed. No window in the living area. Lots of step up or step down from one room to the other. Far too complicated process to operate the TV.
- Robert (9/5): Enjoyable time in a comfortable well located premises - Well located No BBQ. Backyard surrounded by waste bins.
- Vicky (7/5): A relaxing break in a beautiful town. - Really good location for exploring the town. Great that it was pet friendly. Would have liked more cooking equipment, only one induction hot plate and a microwave. We prefer to buy local produce and eat in sometimes so was a bit challenging.
- Doug (8/5): Overall a very pleasant cottage in an excellent location. - The central position. Very comfy bed and comfortable sitting room. Breakfast provisions very minimal and no milk supplied which we presume was in error as never been anywhere else similar that hadn’t supplied some milk. Rear lane a bit noisy in the morning either bins bring moved around. Didn’t like the plastic green foliage in the courtyard.
- Geoff (8/5): Pleasant, well appointed property but could be better for price - Central location, lovely bed, well appointed Basic window furnishings, particularly in bedroom, letting early morning light into room.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Tony (10/5): It was a lovely and homely stay. We'd definitely choose to stay here again next time we're in town. - Located right in the heart of town, the place offers convenient access to everything within walking distance. It was well-equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable stay, from cutlery and dishware to bathroom supplies. They also provided extra amenities such as scented candles, room sprays and board games, which added a delightful touch. The pillows were a bit too soft for my liking. We initially had trouble connecting to the internet on the TV, but we managed to sort it out eventually.
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Cathie (8/5): I really loved it and have to thank my beautiful friends for taking us there ps I did send photos - Location kept tripping on the different levels of floors once I got my bearings I was good I couldn’t get the wifi or the tv to work
- John (9/5): Very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Great location allowing easy walk to all restaurants etc. I would be very happy to - Location, comfort, small thoughtful inclusions Public laneway outside bedroom windows
- Custard (7/5): Good -
- Sally (9/5): Excellent location, close to restaurants and historic sites in town. Would definitely recommend. - The location was excellent. Cottage was very comfortable, lovely decor. Quite spacious. Unfortunately there was an unpleasant smell from the rubbish bins stored behind the property.
- Wendy (10/5): Excellent - So comfy just like home. Easy to walk everywhere.
- Dj (9/5): Love it but my time was to short. Plan to return - Location was perfect
- Benh30 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (10/5): We we’re very comfortable at this cottage. Jen has made it a very enjoyable place to retreat to. Close to everything. It - It’s a home away from home. Very comfortable. The lounge area was lovely. The King Bed very comfortable. The location is perfect for walking to everything. It was a little noisy on bin day but it didn’t last long at all and we are early to rise so it didn’t bother us. Aside from that it was a quiet little spot. I did notice other reviews mentioned the different levels. One step up from lounge room to kitchen and one step down from kitchen to bedroom. It really wasn’t an issue.
- Callie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (7/5): Beechworth is well worth a visit - Great position Parking limited to 2 hrs 9-5 every day, follow host advice at own risk. Cafe at front of property adjoining wall with bedroom so some noise in the morning. Not informed of uneven floor levels until booking complete may be a problem for some guests. Mouldy coffee grounds left in machine.
- Murray (9/5): Superb -
- Jim (8/5): We were there from Sunday to Wednesday, so was a comfortable stay. - The cottage is located within easy reach of the main street, close to the cafes and shops. It is has plenty of room for two people, with a small outside area to sit with a shade umbrella, if needed. The cottage is right next door to a cafe and actually shares the frontage. If the cafe is busy, people will be sitting right outside your front door. It gets noisy in the early morning with bins being moved around outside the bedroom windows. Cafe only operates from Wednesday to Sunday.
Parking outside is only 2hrs during the day, but you can leave your car there overnight.
- Sandra (8/5): Great location and comfy cottage - An IGA is around the corner. Stepped out onto a street with cafe's, restaurants. Everything is so close. Make sure you go to the secret tapas bar. Best meal for our stay. The cooking facilities weren't great. Microwave was good but there was only a hotplate and unfortunately there is not sufficient ventiliation so the smoke alarm went off when we cooked.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberley (10/5): Exceptional - Had a lovely stay here, the cottage was very clean and had all amenities you would need. Fairly quiet location given you're in the middle of town. Cottage is also within walking distance of a lot of locations which gave us a chance to explore Beechworth at a slow pace instead of driving. Would definitely book again for another trip if we ever came back. Being an older house it does have steps that one can trip over. Doors are also on the lower side which was a minor issue for my partner being 6'3"
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous location and beautiful property a real treat for me and my fur baby Absolutely nothing it was pricey but brilliant
- Lin (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay of one week. - Location, comfort. Tv's large and modern. Lounges very comfortable for a rental. The small touches such as outside lighting. Close to supermarket, coffee machine. As we were both elderly, the internal steps each at different heights, were a challenge we needed to continually be aware of.
Lack of a proper stove even thought there was a substitute.
- Anthony (8/5): Very good - Great location in heart of town. Exceptionally tidy and well equipped. Tv in bedroom did not seem to work
- Lorraine (8/5): A lovely little cottage close to shopping and walking distance to alot of Beechworth attractions. - Location was excellent. The bed was supercomfortable. It was nice to have enough supplies to get us started. The fully equipped kitchen was a pleasant surprise as we were able to go on picnics as melamine plates, tomato sauce, mayonnaise and food containers all supplied. As I had a broken toe, which occurred the day before arriving, it was challenging to manage the different floor levels in the cottage.
- Lewis (10/5): awesome location, lovely place, great host! - great location right in town but also quiet and peaceful. lots of we thought through little extras that made the place feel very comfortable. amazing huge comfortable bed. host was very accommodating, friendly and easy to communicate with. all round a lively place to stay
