Adeline (10/5): Petite maison tout près de l'océan, très agréable. - La petite maison nous a été laissée en autonomie, c'était vraiment très agréable. La plage et les commerces étaient à proximité. Le logement est propre, lumineux et confortable. 2 iguanes vivent autour de la terrasse et nous ont tenu compagnie durant nos déjeuners dehors. C’est un détail peu important mais c'était un peu juste pour certains éléments de vaisselle/cuisine. Je m’attendais à un grand jardin (car mes autres locations au Costa Rica étaient dans la jungle...) mais la petite cour est très agréable, même si nous sommes tombés lors d'une période de travaux dans la propriété voisine.
Aline (7/5): - Die Unterkunft besitzt einen sehr schönen Aussenbereich der zum Verweilen einlädt. Das Apartment hat eine gute Grösse und ist klimatisiert. Super Lage für an den Strand. Die Abflüsse im Badezimmer stinken stark. Der Geruch ging während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts nicht weg. Es gibt keine Abdunklungsvorhänge, dadurch ist es sehr früh hell. Küche hat Bedarf an mehr Utensilien.

Renner (10/5): - The location is top notch! Beautiful gardens with grill and plenty of outdoor seating. We really like the attention to outside living. The unit was exactly what we needed with a full kitchen that was stocked with necessary utensils, but it should have included some basics like salt, pepper and oil. Coffee was provided so that was a nice touch. The bed was super comfortable, good AC in room and the bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water . I absolutely love the location.... quick walk to the beach, restaurants, mercado, and all the night life . Communication with the host was easy, quick responses, clear instructions. I would definitely stay longer than 2 nights next time! No complaints, everything was great!
Niklas (8/5): Sehr gute Unterkunft für den Preis - nah am Strand und Ort - Tolle Lage - schnell am Strand, Supermarkt und im Ort. Gut ausgestattete Küche. Super Kommunikation, es wurde extra ein Babybett und Hochstuhl organisiert. Direkt neben einer Bar mit lauter Musik. Hatten einen halben Tag kein fließendes Wasser und einen anderen Tag für ein paar Stunden keinen Strom. Es gab kein heißes Wasser.
Harry (5/5): Praktisch, wenn man keine Ansprüche hat! - Die Unterkunft ist 5 Gehminuten entfernt vom sehr schönen Strand und von der Sprachschule, die wir besucht haben. Es hat zwar alles was man braucht, aber das Inventar und Mobiliar ist bereits ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen. Was hervorragend und erwähnenswert war: Beim Verlust des Schlüssels hat uns Thierry mit grossem Engagement aus der Patsche geholfen! Merci beaucoup! Eine brauchbare Lösung für junge Leute- für unsere Ansprüche ungeeignet. Der Preis liegt bei über $ 100 pro Nacht.

CATHERINE (5/5): Très bof - le fait que la plage soit très proche Studio au rdc dans le passage, donc on vit les rideaux fermée pour se cacher du passage !! Pas de fenêtre dans la chambre sauf des vasistas sans rideaux occultants à 2 mètres du sol (donc réveillés à 5H30). Pas de table privative pour les repas, le drap vous ne tient pas et on termine sur le matelas au petit matin. Procédure de paiement compliquée et pas claire (il faut régler en ligne alors qu'on a déjà mis sa carte bancaire sur le site de booking (à part paiement à l'arrivée, il n'y a pas d'info ! on pense que booking débite à l'arrivée mais le propriétaire vous envoie un lien de paiement)
Guest (8/5): Clean and cozy apartment close to beach. - I loved the close proximity to the beach and a really great supermarket. Apartment was cozy and clean. Manager informative and quick to respond to messages. There was a lot of noise. Right next door there is a major construction project taking place. A lot of hammering etc going on during the day. There was also a painter that showed up at around 7am every morning, woke me up every time (unintentionally obviously). No fault to the painter, and I’m sure he has completed his work by now, but I feel management should have prepared me for all of the racquet going on around here. Thankfully the evenings were mostly quiet and I was gone a lot during the day. I should note that there is a restaurant nearby that was playing live music some nights, but it was really chill and sounded pretty great. The parking is very limited and doesn’t feel entirely safe. It’s on a narrow side road with continuous foot and motor traffic. All good in the end. Bottom line: The apartment and grounds are super nice and very close to the beach. I would stay again.

Heather (9/5): Beautiful unit, very unique, well stocked kitchen and close to beach. - The kitchen was the best stocked in our travels in Costa Rica. A garlic press and a salad spinner! Location was great just a 10 minute walk to a great beach. There is no pea trap in the bathroom so you get a sewage odour. We solved this by plugging the drain.

Anja (9/5): - Die Lage, direkt am Meer war toll, die Ausstattung zum Kochen sehr gut, alles war sehr sauber. Die Kommunikation mit dem Gastgeber war stets unkompliziert und er reagierte immer sehr zeitnah. Die Aussendusche war sehr praktisch und die Leguane im Garten niedlich. Eine schöne Umterkunft mit gutem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis! Etwas zum Trocknen der Kleidung im Aussenbereich wäre praktisch gewesen.

Antje (7/5): Bauarbeiten - Die Ausstattung war gut, das Bett breit mit guter Matratze. Es gibt eine Mülltrennung, das ist nicht selbstverständlich. Gelegen in einem kleinen Garten mit anderen Apartments zusammen. Direkt neben dem Apartment werden neue Häuser gebaut. Den Baulärm hatten wir jeden Tag, auch am Wochenende von 7 bis 17 Uhr. Der Vermieter war nicht vor Ort und hat uns nicht darüber informiert. Die Straße zum Apartment ist nicht befestigt, bei Regen schlammig. Gepäck muss man tragen.

Super fand ich auch die Kommunikation durch den Gastgeber und auch wenn er nicht da war, war alles klar kommuniziert. Alles war sehr unkompliziert und wir hatten eine gute Zeit. Es stand gekühltes Wasser im Kühlschrank - danke! Und auch sonst war alles da, was wir brauchten. :)
Charles (9/5): It was not easy to find actually! I would have preferred to be able to pay cash since they didn’t have a secure card pro - Was peaceful and met my needs. Clean bathroom, hot water etc. Need a new coffee maker!!! Was strange checking in regards to payment. I was uncomfortable having been given a link for payment to a site I didn’t feel comfortable with as their listing said we could pay at the property. I had to send a Sinpe which was not convenient but resolved the payment. Was hard to find!!’
Neal (7/5): Great Location, close to excellent beach and restaurants. - Location was superb, close to a great beach and wonderful range of eating options close by in the town and also on the beach. A very well stocked supermarket just up the road, and two more just minutes further on. Great little beach town, not too touristy but everything you need. The house had a good kitchen and well stocked cup boards with every thing you need. The outside patio was great for relaxing out of the sun but in the warmth. There were birds visiting and some big lizards too! Also excellent air conditioning and wifi too. The bed was not great, lots of squeaky noises from the base or the mattress. Every time you turned over the bed made a screeching noise which bothered my wife lots. The lounge area quite small with a day bed. We used the day bed at night because of the noisy bed in the bedroom but there was a large window in the wall with no curtains at alll and an outside night light which shone into the room all night. So it made for some difficult sleeping some nights for us. We suggest a new mattress and some blackout curtains in the bedroom and in the lounge bed area. The air conditioning was great, no problems and always good cooling when we needed it.

Roxanne (4/5): Good value for money but wouldn’t return - The location and the bed was comfortable Upon arrival the toilet was broken. I send a text at 4pm and got a reply at 9pm. It got fixed the next day at 10am. No appologies or solutions. I used trashbags as a toilet in the mean time, which is not great when you just arrive. The toilet issue should have been noticed before my arrival. There was a power outage and while it was fixed everywhere around me, the apartment was not. When I texted if there was something I needed to do, pull a switch or something, I got a reply ‘it’s not just the apartment, is all of Samara. When I said it was on all around me, within minutes it was turned on in the apartment. Again no explanations or apologies. I understand a lot can happen, but you can still be friendly about it.

Lorenz (9/5): Superb - We enjoyed a very relaxing stay. The studio is located behind the main house. At first glance, the small outdoor seating area didn’t seem very cozy as it’s nestled between two high walls (this wasn’t apparent from the pictures). However, we had the studio and the outdoor area all to ourselves and felt very comfortable. There was also a separate access, so we didn’t need to pass by the other apartments. The kitchen was well-equipped, the bed spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom lovely, with a shower that provided reliable hot water. We could walk to the beach within minutes, and if we’d forgotten something, it was easy to pop back quickly. The nights and mornings were filled with nature sounds and birdsong. Thanks to the mosquito nets, we could leave the windows open at night and hardly needed the air conditioning. In the morning, a friendly cat often came by for some affection. While the host wasn’t on site, communication, check-in and payment were seamless and reliable. One note: it’s not completely quiet here. Several restaurants and bars are located just behind the studio on the other side of the wall. Music plays daily from late morning until evening (usually reggae or pop classics). It’s not overly loud but definitely noticeable, with weekends sometimes being longer and louder. However, it was quiet during the nights and early mornings, so overall this didn’t bother us.
Christina (8/5): Beautiful, relaxing, adventurous - We loved the accommodations right in the heart of Samara and very close to the beach. You will see all kinds of iguanas and geckos, birds and the occasional friendly street pet. The area is cute and comfortable, A/C works well on hot days. Bbq easy to use for outdoor eating. All appliances worked well. Our only “issue” (which was not a big deal at all) was that the towel situation was limited. If you use lots of towels, I would suggest bringing your own or beach towels for swimming or be comfortable with using the outdoor washing area, which we did, you can buy some bar washing soap at the local super china. Other than that, Thierry and Christine were very welcoming and answered all questions quickly. We miss it already 💜

Mary (10/5): I would stay here again. - There are 3 units rented on this property. Mine was in good condition with an outdoor covered seating area. Inside was very nice & comfy. The bathroom was very clean and nice, also. Ants in the kitchen and a few in the bathroom. I was almost afraid of eating in the room because the presence of food would attract more of them. And - I was very careful about putting food waste in the can outside.

Robert (10/5): Delightful stay in an ideal location. - What did we like? Pretty much everything. The location was perfect. The hosts were great. We're very happy we chose Casa Maiana. Well, if I have to nitpick, the bed was somewhat hard. Hot water was not reliable, but it was in the 90s Fahrenheit the whole time we were there, so we didn't really need our showers to be very warm.

The place had all of the cooking stuff that I needed, even oil! The outdoor shower was great for after the beach. Very well clean and well kept. Both the owners were very kind. Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - We were extremely happy with this room. It was very spacious and had all the amenities to feel like home: shelves/hangers for clothes, a kitchenette with full-sized fridge, microwave, utensils, cutting board, etc. AC kept us cool, and there was an additional bed and kitchen table to sit at -- the large space was one of the biggest benefits of this place. Outside there's a foot rinsing station (for sand) and a little thatched hut with some chairs and hammocks to sit and read in the shade. Every morning we were greeted by a pair of iguanas and some hummingbirds. The hosts were very responsive and nice to talk to. Samara as a whole, especially close to the beach, is quite touristy. This has its pros and cons.
Robertson (4/5): Overpriced apartment with the basics, close to the beach - Great location, close to the beach. Very nice hosts At over 116$ per night we paid way too much and had different expectations. Would have been nice to have shampoo or paper towels or tissues or napkins. (small details) Didn't have a top sheet for the small bed and no door to the bedroom. In a country where Coffee is King, the apartment was stocked with a bitter brand. Gardens need some work. Parking site was not optimum. We know everyone wants to make a profit but it just felt like corners were cut and we did not get a value for the price we paid.
Kristen (9/5): Superb - We live in Costa Rica and escape to Samara as often as possible. We have stayed Casa Maiana for many years under prior and found the new owners Thierry and Christina to be gracious, welcoming and available to answer any questions you have. Casa Maiana is perfectly located for discovering Samara on foot - close to the beach, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets but off the beaten path and quiet. Highly recommend! Thierry and Christine forewarned us that their "Mercadito" neighbor plays music on Saturday night during high season. Having stayed at the casa in prior years, we were not prepared for the very high decibels emanating from the neighbors. Bring earplugs!

Victoria (10/5): Memorable and sweet! - Amazing and comfortable stay - great location right by the beach, cute decorations, lovely owners, would love to come back again in the future! It has a washing machine, AC, privacy within the property and outdoor patio and grill.
Anna (10/5): A wonderful, comfortable stay in a perfect location - The apartment was cute, comfortable and clean. Kitchen well stocked and a lovely space outdoors. Literally 2 minutes to the beach, a good supermarket, and on the edge of the main town streets (so close but calm).

James (9/5): delightful;;; - Really enjoyed the accommodations and the amenities. It was close to everything that was needed like a supermarket and restaurants and the beach. There was no television but I don't use one in my house so I was pleased to just have streaming available. The bed was more than ample for me and quite comfortable. The kitchen had everything needed except perhaps an air fryer but I don't wanna push it. nada
Marco (8/5): Very good - Wry homey and the owners were very attentive It’s close to a beach bar so you can hear the music on Thursday to Saturday nights. Also, there was a big storm when we stayed and the water came in through windows and the living room got a little flooded.
Claudia (10/5): We definitely recommend staying here - We had the best stay at Casa Maiana. The apartment is beautiful and had everything we needed (very well equipped kitchen). Christine, the host, was always available if we had questions or needed help. The beach is only a two mintue walk away from the apartment. -

Heather (7/5): Beautiful apartment - Beautiful apartment with thoughtful touches. Great location. There was construction on the property while I was there. I choose this place because the description said it was very peaceful which wasn’t my experience. It was fine in the evening but I didn’t feel comfortable enjoying the outdoor seating area during the day because of the noise and workers. It was very disappointing.

Brian (10/5): Comfy apartment, great location, wonderful hosts! - Great location, just 2 minute walk to the beach. And 2 minute walk in the other direction to a large grocery store. Many restaurants nearby. Owners live onsite, and are very friendly and helpful. Nice landscaping on the property.
Margarita (10/5): Awesome - Everything!! 11 out of 10. Our best accomondation during the 3-week trip in Costa Rica. The highlight is the grill in the garden which we could use. The lamp on the terrace went off too soon :)
Brian (10/5): Fantastic stay in a wonderful apartment very close to the beach. - Great location, just a 2 minute walk to the beach. Great restaurants and sodas and grocery stores within a 5 minute walk. The owners live on the property, and are very friendly and helpful. The apartment has a nice fully equipped kitchen. There is a washing machine available, and clothes line for drying clothes. There is a porch outside the apartment with a couch and chairs. Perfect location for morning coffee or afternoon drinks while enjoying the landscaping. Everything was perfect.
Camille (10/5): Wonderful place to stay right by the beach - Our stay was absolutely fantastic, we would absolutely go back to Casa Maiana again! The house is so close to the beach (The location could not be better!). Our apartment looked so cute, and it had all the necessary amenities (Very good kitchen!). We really appreciated the king size bed and the air con. The place felt very secure, and it was just so beautiful. The hosts are wonderful people. They have taken such good care of us when my husband got into a motorcycle accident. We 100% recommend this place, you won't find a better place to stay in Samara!
