- Laura (8/5): A very nice hotel in a great location - Very nicely decorated. Lovely hotel. Comfortable bed
- Marie (10/5): A memorable wonderful stay at the Rookery -
- Bassard (10/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): -
- BRAD (9/5): Great place to stay. - A great place to stay. The staff was very professional and polite. The room was very clean and functional. And the location made it easy to see the sites. Being from a very warm climate, we had issues getting the room to a suitable temperature.
- Sheelagh (10/5): The most delightful place I’ve stayed in London. - Charming boutique hotel respectful of its heritage. Well located for the Barbican and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Comfortable sitting rooms with well stocked honesty bar. Nothing!
- Anton-Louis (9/5): -
- Niklas (7/5): -
Rien.
- Bertrand (10/5): -
- Scott (8/5): A charming place to stay but not restful. - The hotel is stunning, in particular the communal areas. The bedrooms are reasonable with bathrooms that are lovely. Staff are friendly and inviting and could not do enough for us (including carrying bags up three flights of stairs on arrival) all staff members greeted guests with a smile and a “good morning/evening” if seeing you.
The age of the building means that there is little the company can do to alter certain aspects so be prepared for some quirks (including stairs to all floors, narrow doorways etc) although having air conditioning in the room was much appreciated. There are many places nearby offering breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and the hotel is around 5 minutes slow walking from Farringdon station. The amenities in the bathroom were fantastic. The honesty bars are a nice touch, though some greater variety of brands would increase the appeal. The mini-bar in the room looked well stocked though typically pricey for a hotel. With a convenience store less than 2 minutes walk away, there was no need to rely on the mini bar.
Connections via bus, train or tube are all within minutes and the local sights all within easy reach of the hotel. The hotel is in a busy area with (at the time of writing) lots of construction work going on and a nearby traders market which operates all night. As the glazing is not particularly soundproof the sound of trucks, reversing alarms, heavy loading and unloading of goods can be heard throughout the night and the builders get started just as the market is slowing down, getting a restful night isn’t easy. It’s also possible to hear the other guests having a shower or a noisy visit to the loo in the early hours so if you’re the type to prefer a lie in, I would suggest finding a modernised hotel.
The light from the hallway was so bright it shone underneath the bedroom door all night and the wooden shutters over the windows (while charming) do very little to prevent light screaming in from 5am. If you need a dark room or are a light sleeper, be aware of these things before booking.
We should have better appreciated the proximity of the hotel to the market though there is little the hotel can do about the noise of course - the place has been there since the 17th century! The bed while very comfortable was too small for two of us, the pillows were softer than a cloud so with our personal preference for hard pillows, the noise of the market and builders directly opposite we barely slept on any of the 3 nights we stayed despite being exhausted from sightseeing.
These are not “bad” things, just things to be aware of, this is a business which is providing a 21st century service in a 17th century setting and doing a good job of it. Like everywhere it’s not perfect so don’t expect that and you will not go wrong if you stay here.
- Natalie (10/5): Perfect, quite- would recommend - Absolutely beautiful period property and decor totally aligned with the history. Beautiful lounge with honesty bag. Breakfast delivered in the room. Lovely welcoming staff- perfect place to stay when I ran the London marathon Nothing

- Harry (10/5): -
- Rebekah (10/5): Quirky boutique heaven - Incredibly welcoming and personable team, lovely areas for guests to relax, room was quiet and beautifully quirky, super comfortable bed Surprised there were no egg options at breakfast
- Nika (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Unique stay in London with understated luxury. - Great welcome, staff were attentive, and no request was a problem.
Breakfast in the room was great. The lounges' library and honesty bar were all used.
Location is great for a lost weekend in London. Slippers please!
- Michele (10/5): This is a lovely escape from corporate hotels. Fun and surprising decor comfort in every room. Sublime bed linens. -
- Sophie (10/5): -
- Frank (9/5): - Die bezaubernde Atmosphäre Badezimmer nicht beheizbar
- Jennifer (9/5): A great blend of relaxation, quality and friendliness hidden away in a beautiful city oasis - Beautiful place right in the city but it was really quiet and relaxed. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and Bagheera the hotel cat added some feline sophistication. I wish there had been tea- coffee making facilities on site.
- Tony (3/5): Beautiful but noisy - Beautiful old building. Good staff, friendly atmosphere. Noise from street was very loud until very late. We go up to London a lot on weekends, this was the worst we experienced. I realise that it is outside the control of the hotel but, if you want to sleep, cannot recommend.
- Lucy (10/5): Excellent! -
- William (10/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): A wonderful stay - A wonderful hotel - beautiful decor, a comfy four poster bed, luxurious roll top bath and fantastic staff. Oh and not to forget the hotel cat!
- sara (10/5): -
- Claire (10/5): -
- Antonia (10/5): - Extremely comfortable stay; the room was cozy, clean and gorgeous; such attention to detail, from the UK adapter I realised I had forgotten in the closet, to the night lights in the bathroom. It really felt like a home away from home.
- Liam O Mordha (10/5): EXCELLENT, CLEAN, QUIET, COMFY, GREAT, SATISFIED, EXCEPTIONAL - EXCELLENT, CLEAN, QUIET, COMFY NOTHING
- Banks (9/5): - Friendly helpful staff, comfortable room Small moan tv a little small
- Connolly (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): A memorable hotel for a special occasion. A great experience - The hotel was done immaculately and in line with its sense of history - but not too much. The sitting areas are welcoming and peaceful and the outside courtyard is delightful. The room was perfect and the staff were super attentive. The the honesty bar was a bit pricey.
- Belinda (10/5): The perfect relaxing stay to be close to but get away from the bustling city sights of London - This place is perfect! Fantastic location- quiet but food eateries at the doorstop and Farrington station is 5min walk away that goes to Heathrow. Easy walk to St Paul’s cathedral and across the river to the Globe theatre. Safe, clean, upmarket but also feels “local”. The property was one of the most beautiful Victorian style boutique hotels, where every detail was attended to. The facilities were high quality, the honesty bar was amazing, breakfast was fantastic (you can choose to take it in the library or in the room) and the house cat was a lovely surprise! The staff were amazing- taking our bags to our rooms when we arrived early so we could go straight up. Tour of the hotel and tea placed in the room. It was like being in a 5 star hotel with personalised service. The room was beautifully decorated with a hidden mini bar, lots of lamps, a gorgeous comfortable bed, and a beautiful claw foot cast iron bath. I will only stay here when I visit London central from now on! There’s nothing not to like!
- Patrick (10/5): Superb hotel, can’t wait to go back! - Amazing hotel with brilliant staff and a fabulous comfy bed!!! The team were brilliant and really enhanced our stay, thank you!! N/A
- Clare Therese (8/5): Charming, friendly but overpriced. - Lovely staff, honesty bar, mostly great breakfasts (bacon sandwiches), brought to room. Complimentary taxi from airport was a major deciding factor. Porridge was quite thin & watery. We loved breakfast in the room but would be good to have small table. Toilet flush was poor & toilet seat askew. No shelf in shower for toiletries. Price of room is too high.
- Victor (10/5): -
- quentin (10/5): -
- Xavier (10/5): -
- Isha (10/5): -
- Sophie (10/5): Charming, comfortable stay with top tier service. - Fantastic staff, the lovely chap at reception (so sorry didn’t catch his name) is an absolute credit to the place. This was our second stay (the first being when we got married), and it was equally as amazing. The only thing I didn’t like was checking out and going home! Could’ve happily moved in!
- Nika (10/5): -
- Susan (8/5): -
- Rob Housley (6/5): - The location The bed was to small
- Helena (10/5): Found my forever place to stay in London. Cannot wait to return. - The staff on reception are so kind and hospitable. Very friendly and show you around the THREE lounge areas as well as your room. Streamlined, efficient and just very warm people 😊 There is nothing I didn’t like … I have stayed in many hotels in London and elsewhere. This doesn’t feel like a hotel. It’s beautiful. I ❤️ it!
- Gwyneth (10/5): Such a lovely change from the usual. - The whole ambience and unique style. In a great location. No dislikes as such but the hand held shower mixer was a bit difficult to use without making the bathroom very wet.
- Mark (8/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): A perfect sta - Everything was perfect. Excellent location, lovely staff, charming room, and a lovely breakfast in the room each morning. Everything was perfect.
- Michel (10/5): Zeer prettige ervaring. - De inrichting
- LondonKitty (10/5): Special, unique, cosy stay - Beautiful, unique and special, tradition old worldly, boutique home. Shame not all the fire places were working
- Aliaksandr (10/5): -
- kate (10/5): -
- Tim (8/5): -
- Ray (10/5): -
- Fergus (4/5): Comfortable room but overall disappointing, especially for the price point. - The property is very impressive and beautifully cared for. The bed was extremely comfortable! We felt very let down by our stay at The Rookery. We went for our honeymoon and let them know this beforehand. This isn’t somewhere we could normally afford so we were really treating ourselves to go. We ended up feeling like we had just paid for a nice room, not a hotel experience. We thought with it being a 4 star hotel that we would have at least tea and coffee provided, but this is an extra cost. We thought the staff might be more enthusiastic about our honeymoon and left us a note or card, or made the stay more special. In the end we just felt let down by it all, the room was nice but nothing special, the coffee we paid for wasn’t that great and there was no special attention from staff for us paying a lot of money to be there. We’ve stayed at hotels half the price where even food and alcohol are included (in London too)!
- Silvia (10/5): Piccolo hotel con grande charme - Hotel in stile british molto suggestivo, poi sotto Natale era davvero splendido.
Personale molto gentile e cordiale.
- Benjamin (9/5): Lovely stay - The location is excellent. A great spot to walk anywhere. The room was great. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom and toiletries. The staff are all very friendly. We were upgraded due to being a quieter couple of days. The only issue was the lack of coffee facilities in our room.
- Umpleby (10/5): - Super comfy bed, like sleeping on a cloud!
Great location.
Welcoming and helpful staff.
- Bas (7/5): - Very good location, right next to Farringdon station and walking distance from the Barbican, Brick Lane and St Paul’s. Although the hotel is charming, in the end the rooms are small, hot and not very comfortable.
- Beatrice (10/5): -
- Paulo (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): We love staying at the Rookery - All of it
- Paul (10/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): The perfect hotel for a short break - Everything was perfect. The staff, the hotel and facilities.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Marian (10/5): Didn’t want to leave - service was so good that we felt spoile the whole time. Bagheera was excellent company, the perfe - Comfortable, cosy, good ambience. Rather low lighting in our room for reading - but we are old!
- Nuri (9/5): -
- Georgia (10/5): A gorgeous overnight stay - Such a beautiful hotel, the decor is gorgeous with lots of thoughtful details. Our room was lovely, and we also really enjoyed relaxing and having a drink in the communal areas. Lovely breakfast, and there is so much to explore in the local area so a great location too.

- pm–davies (8/5): A very unique and impressive hotel, but where's the kettle? - We booked a double room for one night while going to the theatre. The team were super friendly and we very much enjoyed meeting Begeera, the hotel cat. The hotel is very cool, with a library area and a conservatory with log fires. Plenty of cosy places to sit and read. The wooden panels make this hotel really unique.
The room we had was all good, with a comfy bed, TV, and nice bathroom (with an actual bath). Our room had no shower; it had just a bathroom. Not a negative necessarily, I just prefer a shower to a bath. To be honest, there's nothing they could do about this as the room wouldn't fit a shower. The bath is a lovely freestanding one, but you just can't help getting water all over the floor when using the shower attachment. Also, as the room only has a bath, it's strange that they don't provide any bath foam (bubble bath) and instead give you shower gel.
The only other small criticism is that there is no kettle in the room, so we couldn't make a cuppa in bed in the morning.
- Michael (10/5): -
- Michel (10/5): Exceptionnel - Absolument fabuleux cet hotel .

- Megan (9/5): Beautiful - Loved it all - especially the cat! Everything beautifully presented and service immaculate Only thing would be shower as well as the stunning bath please
- Jane (10/5): Fabulous - Breakfast was lovely and location perfect N/a
- Jane (9/5): I loved it but would not stay here again because of the drawbacks. Better for a younger person. - Location convenient to transportation. Breakfast for a fee in the room was excellent. Lovely public spaces. Staff especially helpful and pleasant. No elevator. The room had only a bathtub, no shower, it was hard to use as an older person.
- James (9/5): -
- Francis (9/5): If you can afford it it’s a lovely place to stay! - Lovely period hotel in a good location. Nothing. But it is not cheap.

- Ceri (10/5): - My favourite hotel in london
Sinon parfait.
