• Franziska (1/5): NIGHTMARE of BEDBUGS!! - BEDBUGS, LIES, SCAMS - our nightmare! Our stay was an absolute nightmare – one we won’t forget anytime soon, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. We had bedbugs in our room – and the host knew exactly what was going on, but deliberately downplayed the issue and lied to our faces. She claimed it was “just mosquitoes.” By then, we already had bites all over our bodies, open wounds, and were eventually able to spot live bedbugs in the room ourselves. Instead of being honest or offering us another room, she knowingly let us continue sleeping in an infested room – even after we spoke to her multiple times about the situation. She probably hoped we’d be “nice guests” and just accept everything. Big mistake. Then suddenly, a so-called “cleaning company” was announced to do a special deep clean of our room. In reality, it was a pest control service that sprayed poison all over the room – and yet we were still expected to sleep there! No explanation, no warning about the bedbugs, no alternative room, no refund. Instead, she tried to sell the whole thing as a “special cleaning service” – a bold and disgusting lie. During our conversations, she showed zero remorse. Even when we showed her the live bedbugs, she insisted they were dead or “could be from other insects.” In the end, she even turned the tables and accused us of bringing the bedbugs – an outrageous insult. We had to buy new clothes and new suitcases to avoid bringing the bugs home with us. This caused us significant financial damage, not to mention the emotional stress and physical injuries. A refund was flat-out denied. This host is greedy, dishonest, and utterly ruthless. She doesn’t care about people at all – only about getting their money. And on top of that, the property is completely misrepresented on Booking: • You’re staying in her private house, which is not clearly stated in the listing. • The “kitchen” is actually her private kitchen, and you can’t use it freely.
• Franziska (1/5): Bettwanzen, Lügen & Abzocke – Finger weg von dieser Unterkunft! - WARNUNG: Bettwanzen, Lügen & Abzocke – Finger weg von dieser Unterkunft! Unser Aufenthalt war ein absoluter Albtraum, den wir so schnell nicht vergessen werden – und das leider im negativsten Sinne. Wir hatten Bettwanzen im Zimmer – und das wusste die Vermieterin ganz genau, hat es aber bewusst verharmlost und uns eiskalt angelogen. Sie behauptete, es handle sich nur um „Moskitos“. Wir hatten bereits überall Bisse, offene Wunden und konnten irgendwann selbst lebende Bettwanzen im Zimmer nachweisen. Anstatt ehrlich zu sein oder uns ein anderes Zimmer anzubieten, hat sie uns wissentlich weiterhin in dem verseuchten Zimmer schlafen lassen – obwohl wir sie auf die Situation mehrfach angesprochen haben. Ihre Hoffnung war wohl, dass wir „nette Gäste“ sind und uns einfach alles gefallen lassen. Falsch gedacht. Dann wurde auf einmal eine angebliche „Reinigungsfirma“ angekündigt, um unser Zimmer besonders gründlich zu säubern. In Wahrheit handelte es sich um einen Kammerjäger, der das gesamte Zimmer mit Gift besprüht hat – und trotzdem mussten wir weiter dort schlafen! Kein Hinweis auf Bettwanzen, keine Alternative, keine Rückerstattung. Stattdessen wurde uns diese Aktion als „besonderer Reinigungsservice“ verkauft – eine dreiste Täuschung. Im Gespräch zeigte sie null Einsicht. Obwohl wir ihr die Bettwanzen zeigten, behauptete sie weiter, die Tiere seien tot oder „das könne auch von anderen Insekten kommen“. Am Ende drehte sie sogar den Spieß um und unterstellte uns, wir hätten die Bettwanzen mitgebracht – eine bodenlose Frechheit. Wir mussten uns neue Kleidung und neue Koffer kaufen, um nicht Gefahr zu laufen, die Tiere mit nach Hause zu schleppen. Wir haben dadurch einen massiven finanziellen Schaden – ganz zu schweigen vom psychischen Stress und den körperlichen Verletzungen. Eine Rückerstattung des Preises wurde kategorisch abgelehnt. Diese Vermieterin ist geldgierig, unehrlich und skrupellos. Menschen sind ihr vollkommen egal, solange sie ihr Geld bekommt.

• Darren (10/5): Best Booking.com place I’ve ever used - The lady who runs this property is amazing, she simply can’t do enough for you. The property is immaculate throughout and attention to detail is same as a 5* hotel. The room was big and bed was amazing slept like a baby. I’m coming back to Toronto and this is where I’ll be staying as I can’t rate this property enough. There isn’t a bad word I can say about this property, there is nothing to fault.

It was easy to get everywhere we needed to be and public transit is a block away. Steep stairs inside. Please note: we were expecting stairs as this is a three level home. However, a little warning might help for people like myself with three knee surgeries in the past.

• Freddy (8/5): Quiet place to stay in Toronto. - Very friendly owner. Connection with city center is fine, tramstop nearby allthough it still takes over 30 min because extremely slow tram. Quiet, fancy neighbourhood. Beach nearby. Restaurants and shop nearby. No breakfast included but the friendly owner lets you use the kitchen and coffee is provided. Excellent wi-fi. Given the fact that the room has a shared bathroom for 2 rooms and no breakfast included the price is not a bargain. Bed is hard and rather small. Room is rather warm. Airco patchy.

• Morgan (7/5): Good - Nice location, easy check in We arrived quite late (1:30am) and were disappointed to be greeted by music playing loudly from the next room and some distasteful activities heard through thin walls. Not the nicest welcome after a long travel day.
• Samuel (9/5): Very great sleep and host - The host was very kind and receptive to any questions or concerns. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean and comfy. The location was nice , close to a beach and boardwalk. The AC can't be controlled. Hard to find parking in late evening.
• Maxim (8/5): Great location, good value for money - Great location in a quiet neighborhood but in proximity to downtown (10-15 minutes by car). 5 minute walk from the beach, 10-15 minute walk from restaurants and convenience stores. The basement appartment is fairly spacious (enough for 5 people) and has a well equipped kitchen. The two queen beds are very comfortable. Last but not least, the host was very nice and friendly. The sofa bed in the living room is not very comfortable to sleep on. Sound isolation from the main floor is not great, but it only really bothered us once when someone came in late at night and we were already in bed. We were five people but there were only 4 chairs at the table.
• Peter (8/5): Very clean multiple story house, close to the beach and not too far from downtown. - The host was welcoming and accommodating for my family on our check-in day. She also pointed out the kitchen and dining areas that we could use. The house is lovely and so is the neighbourhood. Guests should be aware not to expect a total private stay like you would with hotel rooms or VRBOs. Rooms on the upper floors don't have televisions. Another useful thing to know is that parking is free during the day but not overnight as you need to park in one of the municipal lots down the street. It's a relatively cheap overnight parking rate but that rate ends at 7am and the post 7am rate is fair but more.

In addition, I am not happy about the payment as well as cancellation policy. The payment was made during the pre authorization automatically, despite my request to be charged when checking out. This is the first time I faced this issue and I lost additional money because of exchange rate issues. I think the payment procedure should be fixed to be more flexible and friendly for international travelers.

• Van (1/5): Cancellation woes. - Went to cancel after booking, as it was difficult to understand that the rooms had all shared washrooms. The proprietor has not cancelled my reservation even after the booked date. We did not stay at the location. Make sure you read the description very carefully.

She provided a lot of information and even called a museum for me to double check that I could bring my luggage. She made sure I had everything I needed. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I didn't read the description closely enough and thought I would have an attached private bathroom but it was detached and shared. However, I ended having the bathroom to myself the next night so it was not a problem.

Please post for other travelers: this is straight up someone’s home they are renting a couple rooms out of. This was not explicitly stated. I thought it was more like an inn or bnb. That’s not the case. It’s a beautiful lived in house with a great location— walkable to the beach and great restaurants. But I could hear the family the whole time (not loud, just present). I think it would be better to list this property as a “shared home” on Airbnb. Because of how this was listed on booking.com it presented more like a hotel. It is not that. I wish I had know because I would’ve booked a different kind of accommodation. All that said, the host was very kind and took care of everything with ease

It was for the same day, and I immediately let the host know when I got a confirmation an hour later that the system did not work. They didn’t respond until after the check out date, and I didn’t even have information on how I was supposed to check in. Still, they didn’t want to return the money because they ‘couldn’t book to anyone else’ when all this happened within an hour but they just didn’t respond. booking.CON hasn’t helped either, they got their cut. Thankfully, I do believe in Karma and they will get what they deserve. Lack of communication- Greed
