Guest Reviews
- Matthew (8/5): Perfect for hipsters - It felt like living in the area, with a dash of 1900s flair The gate for the parking lot was a gamble. I was pretty lucky it was open the same day I checked out.
Bare in mind: I'm lucky they let me use it at all since overnight parking in nearby lots expire at 6AM
- Sherry (7/5): We had a short stay but enjoyed our visit. - Close to skytrain, restaurants etc. Everything was clean and comfortable. There could have been more plug-ins (outlets) and more available parking.
- Dela Cruz (10/5): -
- Charlotte (7/5): It was an interesting journey to the past and gave me a chance to see how it must’ve been like back in the early part of - Location. Comfort interesting decor Kitchen needed alittle more detail to cleaning and unfortunately, the skytrain was loud and kept me awake a lot during the night, even with earplugs, but it was a comfortable place to stay
- Ivy Renee (1/5): - Nothing Everything
- Holly (8/5): - Very unique experience! Will definitely stay again. It’s by no means fancy or posh but what a lovely place to stay. We love old buildings and architecture and found it so fun just looking around at everything.
- Peter (7/5): Insgesamt angenehm mit ein paar Herausforderungen. - Prima Location. Gut gelegen. Viel Platz. Volle Küche. Allgemeiner Zustand.
- Jayrajsinh (6/5): -
- Erika (9/5): -
- Loni (8/5): - Love the vintage and authentic old charm of Arundel. If you like a blast from the past it’s great. Beds are comfy. I love the old school vibe Sky train is loud
- Gareth (8/5): Good location and lots of character in this funky hotel - The staff were friendly and shared the history of the building which added to the charm. The room was funky with cool artwork and an old world style feel. It was nice a close to the Sky Train station to be able to get around town. The noise from the Sky Train was not too bad and thank you didn't impact our sleep with earplugs. We had questions about the security of the parking but everything was fine for our one night stay.
- Erin (8/5): -
- Dean (10/5): Excellent and comfortable - Location Nothing
- Jeff (8/5): Old building with lots of character, right near the skytrain and downtown New West (bring earplugs) - Location is close to the skytrain; both a plus and a minus (for noise). Bring earplugs. Shopping and restaurants are nearby. Free parking is a plus. Felt like sleeping at my grandparent's house! There are homeless in the area, so if you're a solo traveler and will be coming and going late at night be aware of that. (Not an issue for me, but could be for others.) This is an old building - both a plus (lots of character and charm), and a minus (it's old!). It felt comfy to me; my friend thought it looked old and run-down. Location was great for us as we were in town for an event nearby. Free parking is a big plus.
- Eóin (3/5): -
- Sandra (8/5): - It was a lot of fun to step back … way back… into history during our stay. Very unique! There is a homeless shelter nearby so quite a few people are hanging out nearby.
The restaurants and shops in the neighbourhood are very good and the quay is an interesting walking/biking area along the Fraser River. We enjoyed our stay.
- Tracy (9/5): -
- yang (10/5): - she is really nice, really like to talk to her。
- Trood (5/5): - Interesting old building. Skytrain track right at window. Noisey uphill walk from parking.
- Gerald (8/5): - Antique everything. Character plus. Amazing for a 114 year old property. A 4 room suite with a well equipped kitchen. Centrally located to the Quay Plumbing was old but functional. Bring your own drinking water as plumbing likely still may have used lead.
- Babich (1/5): - Nothing It was dirty and disorganized
- Olga (10/5): Vintage stay at its best - It was like staying inside a movie set. They did such an incredible job preserbing the style and vibe of vintage hotel. It felt very authntic in the most wonderful way, not creepy way. We had such a great sleep and time. Kitchern and livng room are hue and well equiped. it is like a condo all to yourself! not a hotel room - perfect for photoshoots, movies or just unique romantic night... we were suprised that windows dont close fully and you hear a train - but it did not bother us at all at the end.
- Tim (9/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): - the woman who greeted me to let me into the hotel was lovely! If you dont like staying at 'regular hotels', this one is perfect. very comfortable, felt very much like a home, not a hotel, with the privacy of a hotel room.
- McCarthy (8/5): Our stay was comfortable and the price was reasonable. - The decor matches the building, which has been kept as an Edwardian building. The shower was either freezing or scorching, so baths were used instead. And I'm not a fan of baths for actually cleaning my body.
- Tricia (3/5): Keep looking for another spot to lay your head!!! - The property is a historic building that I love, the antique elevator and the architecture of the building was pleasing to the eye. The photographer who took photos for this place was a professional We knew before booking that the sky train ran by the property but they went by every 30 seconds so absolutely no sleep even with earplugs. There was a splitter taped into a wall outlet which was/is a fire hazard. We had to go looking for a fire escape in case of an emergency, we found them located out the bedroom windows. If there was a fire emergency you may not find the way out in time as they were unmarked. The homeless folks in the area were doing drugs where we parked. The elevator once we got into did feel quite unsafe with a lot of clunking and the decking of the elevator floor was about the thickness of a single sheet of plywood. There was a knot in the floor that fell out giving the riders a close look at how thin the floor was and how high up you got from the ground. We are seasoned travellers and are not complainers but our best advice is to keep looking for another place.
- Afework (9/5): I love the hote see you soon I am very happy - I AM HAPPY IF POSSIBLE BREAK FAST AND COFFEE YOU HAVE ONLY NUSCAFE
- Evie (10/5): - It was so quirky and beautiful to see the history There was nothing I didn't like about it.
- Serhii (2/5): I still feel a terrible stench all around me - large, warm, clean room there is a strong smell of stray or dead rats in the hallway
- Daylenchen (7/5): -
- Eric (8/5): -
- Robert (7/5): Different - Old reto style Sky train noise, parking,
- Griffiths (10/5): - The sheer architecture and all the adornments has you living somewhat in the early 1900s. The Check in process was easy, the staff amazing and the owner a real gem. This place is by far the coolest hotel I have ever stayed in and the value was phenomenal. Every room is an entire 1 bedroom apartment loaded with anything you would need for a comfortable stay that feels like home. The Antique lift is fun and beautiful. The building is secure. Located right in the downtown core of New Westminster everything you need for food, shopping and transit options is within 1 block walking distance. A real hidden gem if I ever found one. Absolutely everything i did not want to ever leave.
- Bruce (10/5): Warm, comfortable and lost in time. - I love this hotel and actually booked this visit specifically to stay here, not for anything else in the area. These "rooms" are really apartments frozen in time, with hardwood floors, wallpaper, curtains, decorative plates and warm lighting. A full kitchen, gas stove, cupboards for days and even a clawfoot enamel bathtub, Watching a VHS movie and listening to the faint hiss of the radiators warming your back is something that takes me back to my own childhood and you simply do not find anywhere else. There is nothing I did not like, though for people who prefer a modern feel, you won't enjoy Arundel. Floors are old and creak, rooms are darker (except the kitchen) and bathtub is better suited for baths (though it is possible to shower).
Note to management: Please NEVER change any of these things - they are a huge part of the charm and warmth of the place!
- Jessie (4/5): Great space but requesting service made you feel like a burden and unsafe location - They have embraced the theme of the early 1900s. The space is great: full kitchen and living room. They only cleaned upon request and the stay was for two weeks (so they came in a total of twice, each time after asking). There is no staff onsite and unless you are available during their limited hours, you are treated as a burden. We literally saw a dead body the morning of checking out that was being taken away and it felt very unsafe going to the parking lot at night, as well as sometimes people were using drugs in the alcove of the front door. Surely there are things that could be done to make the situation more safe, like not having to get out over your vehicle to open the gate for the parking lot (which also isn't locked) and stairs that would take you to the back door instead of having to walk around on the street.
- Vic (6/5): - Location and prixe Bed wasnt comfortable and food ans staff unhelpful
- Riley (6/5): A unique, character-filled stay with great touches and amenities, but communication and check-in exp - The building itself was very cool — full of character and charm. I appreciated the earplugs being provided and the complimentary wine, which was a really nice touch. The apartment had great amenities, and it was nice to have a full kitchen and living space rather than a standard room. The arrival process was confusing and could be improved. There was no clear signage or instructions on where to check in, and I only found out later that the “office” was actually the restaurant next door. The greeting at check-in felt rushed and a bit frustrated rather than welcoming, which was disappointing after a long drive. The fridge didn’t get very cold, and power outlets were limited. The area is also a bit sketchy at night, though I understand that’s out of the host’s control.
- Tejswee (1/5): - the hotel is very dirty and unhygienic. bad smell as soon as you enter. it is very unclean and staff is not professional at all. The hotel has charged me full amount inspite of cancelling my booking.
- Jazmine (8/5): -
- Amin (5/5): It was OK - Location Very old and dated, not enough renovation so I didn't feel conformable because of dated stuffs which I wasn't sure if they were clean
- Margaret (5/5): - It's next to transit, even if that is 45 min away from the city center. There are restaurants and the water is nearby. The architecture was historical and quirky and fascinating. The train goes by RIGHT THERE, every 2 min. Nothing was completely clean: dishes, especially disappointing because those are easy to clean. Microwave: weak. Shower in a clawfoot tub situation: the curtain was hung on a slant so dipped lower and kept clinging to my body as I showered: not ideal. There was one washcloth for two people for 5 days--that is not enough. All towels were old. All the linens, the decorative plates and the to-use dishes looked like they were brought in from the huge Salvation Army depot down the hill.
Check-in was weird: was asked several times to specify when we'd arrive, then was busy with other guests when arrived. First time ever been charged a deposit for damages at a hotel, and it was not speedily processed after checkout, despite small size of the establishment.
Elevator consistently stopped between floors, requiring extra button pushing and ensuing panic the first time. Oh, and clincher: there's a rehab clinic or something right next door so our view and out exits and entries were almost always through a crowd of people on substances, front AND back door.
I'm just sad the building is so beautiful and suites are spacious but 1) the train is very disruptive and there's no attempt to muffle the noise through insulation (there's not even a screen on that window) 2) it's not being kept up anymore, and cleanliness standards are not what they should be for $180CAD/night place. Would not return.
- Matthew (8/5): It’s not for everyone, but if you like vintage then you’ll probably really like this hotel. - Great location. Loved the decor. Very friendly and helpful staff. The train just outside the window didn’t really bother me. In fact, for me it added to the vintage urban vibe. No screens on the windows, so mosquitoes could enter if you left the windows open.
- Janet (1/5): Agree with the bad reviews and shocked by the positive ones - Building ilooks like it is 100 years old and looks like never updated. Homelessness meters away. Room door would not lock from inside and room was very hot. We did not stay and went to another hotel.
- Vinod (1/5): Not happy and would not recommend - Nothing Sound of the train, Drug people near the building and infont of the entrance.
- Sriram (8/5): -
- Simon (4/5): -
- brooke (1/5): Not comfortable, I left - Bathroom seemed clean Property is old and it shows, place was listed to have ac and only had a SMALL window ac in bedroom only. Very hot.
The surrounding area and where I had to park my car felt unsafe especially since I had to get out of my car to use the gate.
The place was dirty, there was food on the remote and coffee table.
- Erica (10/5): Shockingly loved the hotel and would stay here again. - I was at first sceptical, but then viewed the place found it stuffy (mid summer; no AC). It was absolutely a dream to stay in, the price, location and the vibes. Other than the it being stuffy I absolutely loved the hotel room. At first I thought it was an Airbnb but it’s actually a hotel with a good price.
- Alex (8/5): Very positive experience for staying at Arundel Mansions Hotel - When I arrived I was met by Shueet, who is super friendly and helpful, almost matching the persona of the mansion. She introduced and explained a lot about the building and the facility. The unit has what we need to feel home.
- Doug (8/5): -
- cynthia (10/5): - spacious place I stayed for 7 days.. plus Its proximity to the metro and shops is very convenient, and I will surely visit again. I’m glad to have stayed in a 100-year-old building—so many memories are made here. Plus its really spacioussss!!!!! - cynthia none
- Marvel (10/5): -
- Brent (7/5): - I like it because it is spacious with comfortable bed. It is near the sky train. i don't feel safe with the elevator and the rectangular thing on the floor.
- Kristen (10/5): Excellent place to stay in a great location and amazing staff. - I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last few years and I absolutely adore it. It has a home away from home feel. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are more like suites, with separate bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen. It is conveniently steps away from many restaurants and public transportation. I highly recommend staying at this hotel and we will definitely be back.
- Mann (10/5): - A great value for the right guests. It’s not brand-new or flashy, but full of charm, personality, and that cozy, lived-in comfort. Very convenient access to the SkyTrain. If you plan to cook, make sure to bring your own essentials. Overall, we loved our stay.
- Arpan (10/5): Antique Hotel - I truly enjoyed my stay. This is a beautiful antique hotel, and if you love history, you will absolutely appreciate this place. Staying here feels like stepping back in time. The staff was very helpful and friendly throughout our visit. We will definitely come back again.
- Gurveer (3/5): - Property was scary and haunted , no matter how looks vintage and aesthetic but night time me and my partner felt negative energy in room so we could not sleep peacefully in room. Sudden microwave started to sound while nobody was in kitchen and everything was okay again like evening time after 4 am, but night was too scary for us because when we slept that time our both body got paralyzed for few seconds and it happened thrice time with us so then we decided not to sleep again and will wait for morning.
- doris (2/5): - Nothing Have to leave after we saw the place, did not stay there at all. Very disappointed with everything. Put in a complaint to both manager and booking.com.
- Taggart (7/5): great stay with crummy business practices in effect - funky kitsch decor, full kitchen, hilarious selection of VHS tapes (didn't confirm they work in the VCR though...) check-in felt like a roach-motel; charging the card instead of putting a hold on it, photocopy of drivers license and credit card details (including CVV) with the 'promise' to dispose of after the stay; no door service after 7pm - all felt skeezy. When the 'concierge' openly laughed at my partner for refusing to get into the janky elevator, it just topped the sense of distaste for the business side of this operation.
- Yiting (10/5): -
- Cahill (10/5): What a great experience! - Love the historical nature of the building. So much character, squeaky floors and all!!!! Nothing
- Uwe (6/5): -

- Harleen (1/5): No words as i didn’t like that stay - “I don’t like anything about your property” “I don’t like anything about your property”

- Alexander (6/5): This hotel is only worthwhile if you’re traveling by yourself and/or have a thing for vintage hotels, with everythin - -Good location being very close to the New Westminster Skytrain station
-Nice, spacious old vintage room
-Was provided a complimentary bottle of wine -The closeness to the Skytrain station meant that the Skytrain was always very audible from the room
-Beyond that, the room was not well sound-proofed in general; much of the hustle and bustle of the outside could easily be heard within
-There is a homeless shelter right around the corner from the hotel, and there were many homeless people moseying near the hotel’s entrance; I never felt unsafe but it dampened the atmosphere
- Benjamin (7/5): -
- Helen (1/5): -
- Jay (1/5): Not impressed - There were mice in the room. The manager was notified and answered. It's an old building, and most likely, all the rooms will have them. Additionally, an exterminator will visit once a week to address the issue.
If you have kids or are not a fan of mice, I would recommend looking elsewhere. There were mice in the room. The manager was notified and answered. It's an old building, and most likely, all the rooms will have them. Additionally, an exterminator will visit once a week to address the issue.

- Andreas (3/5): - Historic charm WiFi did not work. Loud metro next door, no insulation, could not sleep, people smoking what appeared to be crack on hotel parking lot. Felt unsafe

- Matt (8/5): -
- Kapoor (8/5): -
- Dawn (6/5): Overall the stay was uneventful. - The location was convenient as it was half a block from the sky train also the river front was close by. Lots of restaurants right around the area. Unfortunately, the sky train tracks were right outside the windows, no ac, our freezer in the fridge didn’t work. And the biggest drawback for us was that there were druggies and homeless people in the alley. They did not bother people but was uncomfortable. Also, lighting in the room was inadequate. Bathroom stepping into tub for a shower with bad knees was questionable needs to have handicap rails.
- LI WEI (9/5): 舒服友好 - 很好!WIFI 不行 WIFI 需要改进
- Rhian (5/5): An interesting experience that I don't think we'll repeat - Staff were very helpful. Letting us in early and making sure we were happy with the parking. Bed was comfortable and the facilities included a dining room, bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. The bottle of wine was a nice touch Yes we knew it as going to be vintage and funky because it was built in 1912 but we weren't expecting it to be so shabby with dubious electical outlets, a stained gas stove and worn furniture. The bed was the one saving grace.
The area is sketchy. I would not have like to be there alone.
Other reviews warned of the skytrain noise. It actually didn't bother me but did my husband. Earplugs are thoughtfully provided.
- Hardt (9/5): Reminded my partner and I of our grandparents places. We will be back for sure - I loved the history and features such as the claw tub. The location was great, bus routes and transit everywhere. The feel of the rooms was very comfortable Explaining the elevator better such as make sure the light is off after exiting by closing both doors. Letting guests know where the garbage can be dropped outside. Providing a bleach spray or Lysol wipes for kitchen. Telus could swing a great deal on wifi as well. Upgrading to smart tv’s so people can cast their apps would also be an investment.
- Brendan (10/5): -
- Zhusan (6/5): Wakes at night - Air B&B By skytrain lines, very noisy
- McNeal (6/5): -
- MEHDI (1/5): They called and canceled on me - They called and canceled on me
- Boutilier (8/5): not a normal stay. I'd say it's an experience! - super cool piece of history. felt like we were time traveling. no a/c. not really a huge issue but we chose to stay during the hottest days of the year. sky train was really close, we are from the country and not used to constant noise.
- Christina (8/5): Old world fabulous! - This is an extremely unique experience. More like visiting your eccentric aunty than a hotel! But this is amazing. Books to read. Antiques to admire. (Maybe Haunted?) we had an amazing visit. This is not your best western! It’s a unique experience

- Henry (1/5): Avoid this hotel. - It is a very old hotel, right downtown, and only 150 ft from the metro line. Excellent location. It is a very old hotel, right downtown, and only 150 ft from the metro line, with trains going both ways every 3 minutes, even late at night,
Elevator was very poor, off-street parking was often not available.
But worst of all, after putting up with it for 3 days, they refused to allow a refund for leaving 4 days early. They stated that that was policy. Yet I never saw that info anywhere.
Druggies were all about on the street, with noisemaking late at night.
- Steve (9/5): Such a quirky wonderful place, they're so rare these days. - Love the old style heritage features. Ancient elevator, bay windows, push button light switches, round toilet tank! Complimentary wine, friendly staff. Not for anyone wanting standard modern souless sterile blandness. Train is noisey but I sleep through anything Sad homeless nearby
- Brandon (1/5): Drug use, doorknob fell off, owner tried to fleece us - People smoking crack in doorway, couldn’t open door to leave in morning without yelling at them to leave. A lot of drug use in front of gate to parking lot too couldn’t even open gate didn’t feel comfortable by myself getting out and asking them to leave. Ended up parking on street in front of police station a few blocks away instead. Sky rail goes RIGHT by the window impossible to sleep the building shakes. Rail runs all day except ~1am -5am. Owner tried to claim we owed her for two rooms because booking.com booked us for two rooms. Called booking and confirmed this was not true we only ever had one room booked she was just trying to get more cash. Rooms so run down doorknob fell off when I tried to close door.

- Patricia (8/5): Timeless - The hotel was very comfortable the room was clean and cozy we loved our stay here
- Doug (8/5): - We stay here often and it is always a welcoming place. If you like retro styling you will love it here. Parking is limited but available if you're checking in earlier
