Guest Reviews
- John (9/5): Perfect Base Camp in El Chalten - This hotel is a perfect place to stay if you are doing a lot of hiking in the area. Very short walk to all the trailheads! The only thing to be aware of is that it is a bit of a walk to the hotel from the bus station; if you are traveling with multiple pieces of luggage, I would recommend hiring a taxi to take you to the hotel. There are many options in El Chalten for taxis, but you will need to arrange the ride ahead of time! Google is your friend to find the contact info for a taxi!
- Stephen (1/5): Did not stay and they still took my money - Staff was terrible internet was down could not even check in because they only take cash then wanted me to download an app to pay and wi fi would not work.
- Yalun (10/5): - room was super clean, spacious, and well-maintained
it's not on the main street but is super close, great if you prefer a quiet stay
breakfast was nice to have before going on a hike (bread, cheese, ham, orange juice/yogurt, etc.) the wifi was a bit slow in my room (I stayed at the corner room tho)
- Giulio (4/5): Very basic and old for the price but nice staff. - Location is nice, room was big. Staff was very nice. The room was very old and could have been cleaner. Missing bidet. Breakfast was nothing special. For the price it should have been better.
- YANG (8/5): Pleasant and relaxing stay - Comfortable, quiet, friendly helpful staff, clean, good breakfast. Everything was fine.
- carlos (9/5): -
- MITSURU (8/5): Great for tracking. - It was close to the trailhead and convenient for shopping. Fitroy was not in sight
- Sarah Maria (9/5): -
- Marco (6/5): Trekking in El Calafate - Personale molto gentile e disponibile. Lobby in stile montano Le camere molto vecchie
- Joaquin (10/5): - Muy amables todos. La ubicación perfecta
- david (9/5): -
- sara (10/5): -
- Arrigone (9/5): -
- Paola (9/5): - Es cómodo y buena ubicación. Lugar sencillo. El desayuno no es tan surtido.
- Rosine (7/5): -
- Nicolas (7/5): Good -
- Yang (10/5): Nice and friendly services - They are very nice to prepare early breakfast for our very early hiking.
- Avontuurlijke (5/5): okay room but pretty pricey for what it is - just a regular room in a hotel, no special facilities, just standard stuff the vibe in the hotel was dead, the thing I am just struggling with the most is the price-quality, the breakfast was okay but not special. I assume for better price you can find better stuff in/around Chalten
- Jason (8/5): excellent - the staffs' service is excellent none
- Arman (9/5): Stay was Fantastic and need to improve services in desk. - Location and cleanliness Early breakfast service to take away before hike is bit disappointing.
- Michelle (3/5): Unfriendly owners and bad value - VERY unfriendly owners (the son especially) and the heating barely works. You also cannot store your bags. I have been traveling for a year and this is one of my worst experiences. Avoid!
- Wesley (1/5): Bad -
- Wesley (1/5): Bad -
- Serghei (10/5): Exceptional - It is a well-located and cozy hotel with a fireplace in the evenings.
Breakfast is enough for a long trail to Laguna de los Tres
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Ondrej (7/5): All in all OK but does certainly not merit a rating of 8 or 9. - The staff was very very friendly and helpful. The place was clean. While the place was a bit farther away from the center and the bus terminal, it was close to the hike routes and valley. We booked the place due to the 9 point rating. This rating is exaggerated. There were various aspects that were not great, in particular:
- Already after the first night there was no toilet paper and we had to ask for it. We got one roll but it was not restocked.
- The trash in the room incl. bathroom was never emptied. This was particularly bothering as the toilet paper cannot be flushed.
- The room was not checked/tidied-up once (we stayed 4 nights)
- The breakfast was OK but not amazing.
- The exchange rate from the hotel for US Dollars (you have to pay cash) is a rip-off and worse than every restaurant in town.
- Tomi (8/5): Comfortable place to rest a recharge between big hikes. Great location in town. - Friendly helpful staff, located near the park and hiking, basic breakfast provided, plenty of hot water, comfortable bed, and a small lounge area.
- Darren (7/5): Good -
- Pauline (7/5): Convenient hotel. - Convenient location and decent price for El Chalten. Staff was pleasant, beds were comfortable and the rooms were well heated. Almost no water pressure in the shower made it really tough to wash ourselves. Wifi almost does not work in the rooms. Rooms missing a few basics like glasses/cups.
- Jonas (6/5): There are plenty of better places to find for this price in this beautiful town... - The location was very nice. Just off the main street. Very central location, yet very quiet. Everything within walking distance. The room was not big, but it was very clean. Breakfast was nothing special. Every day, same choices. No warm food, and old bread. With a few dollars investment, the breakfast could be easily upgraded. Staff were not very welcoming. Except for the girl behind the reception (don't recall her name). Check-in process without any emotion. 'Pay and leave us alone' kind of feeling. After checkout, we wanted to leave our suitcases for 2 hours before getting on the bus. They told us this was impossible, even though the lobby was huge and staff was present 24/7. We ended up paying 11 USD for a locker in town just for 2 hours. Small things could make this place great, but they don't seem to care much about hospitality, unfortunately. There are plenty of better places to find for this price in this cute town, I'm afraid....
- Sophia (9/5): Blissful and I wish we had had time to stay longer - The breakfast was wonderful and just what we needed before a three day hike (typical Argentinian food which for some foreigners can be too sweet!). Perfect location to start our hike. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Great ambiance and decor - so cosy. Want to go back in winter just to sit by the huge fireplace! Only issue was bathroom floor is very slippery when you get out of shower (I fell) and they won't allow you to leave extra luggage while hiking, but did tell us where we could (for a fee)
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely staff, comfy, big room and bathroom, good breakfast Nothing all perfect
- Ruy (7/5): Good -
- Danit (6/5): Great location, the host was a bit afraid of everything -
- Anez (9/5): Cozy accommodations with breakfast - Staff were very friendly, and almost always present at the desk. Did not encounter any english-speaking staff, just something to note if your spanish isn't very good. Large and cozy lobby with warm gas stove and wood fireplace. Free breakfast is a nice touch - bread, croissants, yogurt, juice, coffee, oatmeal, fruit cups, and the ever-present jamon y queso. Comfy bed, large private room, small building (~10 rooms) so it's pretty quiet if guests are respectful. Location is close to the north end of town so very walkable to the northern trailhead. No mini fridge in the room, would be nice if guests could have access to maybe 1 shared fridge in the lobby? Restaurants for every meal can get expensive and if you're paying for lodging too it's nice to have a "home-base" to keep a few groceries. Shower situation was a bit uncomfortable...the head was positioned strangely (unadjustable), you had to stand super close to the knobs to be under the flow. And the water temperature would fluctuate rapidly on its own, super hot then super cold without touching the knobs. But, we were just glad to have a place to take a shower!
- Hani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (9/5): Superb - Very cozy and warm in the wind. Very friendly
- Neil (9/5): Superb - Friendly and helpful staff, clean comfortable room ,great breakfast s
- Emily (9/5): Comfortable and good location close to starts of walks - Very comfortable bed, especially the memory foam pillows. Warm and spacious room.
Helpful staff. Nice dining area which can be used anytime to relax. Kept lovely and warm with an open fire and stoves when the weather was cold and wet. We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived earlier than expected after a storm.
Nice breakfast though nothing hot. Good selection of teas.
Really good location for walking as close to starting points of walks.
Reasonable WiFi in common area but not in rooms. They provide simple meals for lunch and dinner but we felt they were slightly overpriced for what they were. El Chalten is expensive in general but we could get better value eating out.
Taxi needed to bus station unless you can carry your luggage as the road is unmade and there are limited pavements
They charge extra for credit card payments so take cash. We paid in US$.
No WiFi or mobile reception in our room.
- Krzysztof (7/5): Good - Location and comfort High prices for what it was, extra charges for card payment
- Sandra (9/5): It was very comfortable, nice place, location very near to the entrance to Laguna de los tres - Cozy and clean, big room, nice staff
- Balerdi (9/5): Superb -
- Armelle (9/5): Superb - I eat gluten and dairy free and they did their best to accommodate me. Rv et n cooking one evening ! And it was delicious ! The person who welcomed us - and he was the only one like that - did his job but not really nice. It felt like we were bothering him every time we asked him something ! All the others were really great !
- Carolyn (9/5): Superb - walking distance to trailheads, very friendly staff, cozy rooms and common area with fireplace didn't realize cash only but fortunately we had cash to pay
- Dr. (10/5): Exceptional - Matías y María son estupendos!
- Alan (9/5): Great place to stay - Great communal area, with an open fire. Meal served on a night, which are great value for the area. N/A
- Arthur (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff, we could also leave our lugage for 5 days hike in between our stays. /
- Chloe (10/5): Staff were super friendly and helpful. Great location. - The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and a comfortable stay. The location couldn’t be more central and is a 5 minute walk to everything.
- Cecilie (10/5): Home away from home and location close to hikes - Everything. The hosts were incredibly helpful, kind and welcoming, we felt so at home and the shared space was very cozy. Our room had a lot of space and high ceilings, we slept really well. Close to major hiking send offs. Nothing to note :-)
- Eileen (7/5): good sleep but would not book again during peak season as too expensive - good breakfast, good location, comfortable bed, nice foyer. the wifi was very weak throughout the whole property. The price was far too high as it was peak season they definitely bump up the prices.
