Guest Reviews
- Barna (8/5): -
- Raghavendra (9/5): Wonderful stay - I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Aswan. The atmosphere was serene and peaceful, and the entire place was exceptionally clean. Our host was incredibly friendly and made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. A truly relaxing experience. I highly recommended! None
- Stephen Duffell (9/5): - The hotel room was nice and clean, as was the ensuit. The included breakfast was at a partnered hotel, 4 min walk away. This was ok for us. It was nice being on the island away from the madness of the city. The views from the hotel was amazing. Sunset views over the nile. The rooftop restaurant where you get breakfast has incredible views as well. Despite liking being away from the main city, it was still a pain travelling across the river and back. Not the hotels fault but something to keep in mind
- Mariam (1/5): - Nothing Everything
- Giannis (10/5): We had a very pleasant stay in a rather unique place, which is something you experience in general when visiting Elephan - Considering the standards of the island, the room was quite satisfying. What stood out the most was the service and communication with the staff — very friendly and welcoming. It’s a place I would definitely choose again. Nothing bad to say.
- Karim (7/5): -
- Nilanjana (10/5): -
- Vincent (5/5): Good - Reception was good
Owner was good
Stay was good Facilities breakfast not good
- Lynn (6/5): average room on the island nothing really good or really bad, island people are very nice - need to take a ferry from aswan to the property. place is quite old with wifi that only works sometimes. listing had a lot of things listed that did not exist. room had a nice view but was a little small. quite old place, dryer was broken

- Delphine (8/5): Calme et reposant - La vue sur le Nil. Le lit était confortable et petit déjeuner sympa. Rien
- Tim (10/5): - Super helpful hosts, very friendly and great hospitality would highly recommend!
- Mariagiovanna (9/5): Superb - The white house is an essential and clean accommodation. A fridge is provided, the view from the window is nice and on the quiet side of the island. The host is friendly and helpful, he helped us reach the cost early in the morning to go catch our flight. Keep in mind there is no soap in the bathroom, the structure is not complete yet but in line with the conditions of the island that is in any case very characteristic
- Patpato (7/5): Good - The staff was great and very good price Elefantina South is not the best place for tourists
- Jayanth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vic_martinez_96 (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was very friendly and kind. They helped us organizing tours in Aswan and to Abu Simbel to a reasonable and honest price. We needed to leave late to airport and they allowed us to stay in our room after the check-out time, which is somerting that we really appreciated. I would recommend White House for those who want to stay in a quite area in the Elephantine Island and to anyone who would like to simply explore Aswan. The wifi connection wasn't the best
- Simisha (8/5): Very good - Hassan the manager is absolutely amazing and super kind. He organised everything for us. He makes you forget about all the things you don't like. Bathroom was very small and toilet had a leak.
- Robin (9/5): Superb - Amazing location on the bank of the Nile!
- Tony (1/5): Bad - Absolutely disgusting room, rodent droppings all over the floor, at least one lizard living in the ceiling light, black mould everywhere, the room was not the room we booked, the owner promised to refund me and told me that he had refunded me but when we I checked I phoned him and he refused to give any money back, I have photos and videos of the discusting state of the room, please do not be fooled by booking this property, all the owner was interested in was selling expensive trips. Mouse droppings all over the dirty discusting room and lizards living in room, black mould everywhere
- Guojian (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (7/5): Good - Nice location near the Nile and the West Bank. Confortable, clean room and bathroom. Elephantine Island is a great laid back place. No place to hang out outside the room, no terrace nor lounge.
The owner was quite persistent in offering tours, and was insisting when we said we were not interested. This made the interactions with him not as relaxed as it could be.
We booked with him one tour to Abu Simbel and it was quite average. The price proposed was above other offers, he decided on his own to wake us up (and too early), the pick-up place for the taxi was incorrect. Once we arrived after a 4 hours travel, the driver told us we should meet in 90 minutes. It's difficult to understand why one should rush to visit this amazing site when investing 8+ hours of travel.
- Benjamin (10/5): Peaceful stay in an authentic numbian village - We had a really nice stay in White House. Thank you ! Assan is so kind and helpful.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent little hotel on the banks of the Nile. Great location, comfortable bed and friendly
- Christos (7/5): Very nice and peaceful island, a great base to stay while in Aswan - The location was nice, the owner was great, very helpful and very polite, so was the captain of the boat that I used WiFi was problematic making it a bit difficult to communicate with family back home.
- Catherine (1/5): Fake description. So many nice places on the island - Only the view as for the rest the description on booking does not correspond to the guest house ....
La vue uniquement puisque la description de l'hébergement ne correspond pas au logement No swimming pool (as said in the description....) My friends did not have a mountain or river view at all. Our room had the view but no balcony ( as it was mentioned.... I didn't meet the owners who prefer to advise you to take your breakfast in other guest houses instead of having it as their place as the terrace is not safe and not finished.
The place is not safe for young children.
I personally had never seen an accommodation on booking whose description does not correspond to reality and I can't understand the good reviews!!
- Alexandra (10/5): Great experience - The room is clean with a nice nile view. We especially liked the bathroom where you can shower while sitting on the toilet. Very practical. This is a place to see something you can’t see in your hometown. Definitely recommended for explorers
- Rungkan (10/5): Exceptional - The view of the room was so cool. Location so great it quited and peach full. Hard to contact saff. If you have a big stuff a bit difficul to carry the side way to the place not so good.
- Susana (10/5): Amazing Host - This place is really good. Especially the owner. He was amazing with us. He book us our trip to Abu Simbel and prepare some take away food for us. We should leave the room at 12:00 but he let us stay for free till 18:00 cos we come late and tired from the excursion. Really honest and nice person. Thanks 🙏🏻
- Pudviraj (7/5): Good -
- Aggarwal (8/5): Very good -
- Findlayrd (8/5): Very good - Beautiful view from room and roof terrace. Very clean room , tea and coffee facilities in room and good hot showers. Roof terrace could be better finished and no outside space.
- Jaella (8/5): Lovely spot, would stay again. - Great location, really nice view of the Aga Khan Mausoleum.
The owner arranged a visit to Abu Simbel and felluca ride for a reasonable price.
Breakfast was ok.
Room was very spacious, bathroom was fine.
It is a small hotel at the moment (3 rooms I think) so it was very cosy.
Good restaurants were near by. This place is under construction, which can be a problem for some.
Some people might not like construction going on next to the hotel and the fact that there is no payment, but the hotel is in a traditional Nubian village so for me it was not an issue.
- Cagkan (10/5): Exceptional - Atmosphere and village is amazing. House takes care of everything if you need help or advice. Day and night island is super safe and great place to relax. Dont miss view from accommodation at sunset. If you plan to stay 1 night location might bothers you(I was there 3 nights and wasn't an issue since I was not rushing anywhere) but maximum 10 mins walk from boat deck
- Najma (7/5): Good - The room is clean and cozy We had to walk around 20 mind through dark alleyways from the ferry drop point. It's on the other side of Elephantine island.
- Richard (10/5): Perfect, beautiful, friendly outstanding, l loved the accommodation - Free hospitality Boat trip to the
Property and return, very friendly staff & the most amazing location & room views, clean & comfortable room, the breakfast was outstanding and I loved the fact I went on a boat to their restaurant for breakfast, which was the best breakfast I had in Egypt so far. Top points to Ahmed the owner. Keep your good hospitality up and good future, I loved your accommodation
- Ladan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (9/5): We loved the location , very quite and peaceful with lovely views across the Nile - Breakfast on the rooftop was excellent - good food and a wonderful view with very helpful staff. The bathroom had an 'open shower' with no shower tray or curtain. The whole room was soaking wet after showering.
- Mansour (7/5): It's a great value guesthouse. - The cleanness and price. The fact that no cars can go to the guesthouse and you need to use a boat. We were not aware of it.
- Hisham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hisham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frank (7/5): Nice visit to Aswan - Quiet and pretty location Friendly owners Terrible overpriced laundry service Communication a challenge
- Svetlana (10/5): Exceptional - quiet location, very clean room, helpful staff ( Hassan and maallim Labib :)))
- Robin (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (10/5): Amazing location, hospitality and very friendly staff - The location is amazing and the room was beautiful as shown in the picture with a direct view on the Nile Nothing really
- Anonymous (10/5): Overall, a very quiet and comfortable place to stay on Elephantine Island. - Incredible location and beautiful view from my window.
The place is very clean and homely, and having air conditioner, mini fridge and hot water kettle makes the space feel homely. As this is a new hotel, it is missing a restaurant or common. This is currently under construction.
- Giampaolo (8/5): Very good -
- Diogo (9/5): Great room and decor - This was our favourite room out of all the ones we stayed in Egypt
The decor and attention was a stand out. Very comfy beds too.
Furthermore, We liked the setting next to the east side of the river.
They offer a good list of services that were quite helpful in terms of transfers in and out of the island.
The young man that operated the boat was very polite and helpful. Breakfast was not great. We appreciate the effort as we checked out a bit early so maybe their regular in hours offer is better.
The check in process felt a bit rushed. We would have appreciated a bit more info about the location, property and pricing of the services.
- Martina (4/5): Not advised at all - The view on the Nile is very nice, breakfast is good and the place is calm and quiet. The private dock is a good service. Unfortunately, we did not have the same experience other people had here. First, the owner speaks poor English and this originated many misunderstandings. Then, a few hours before our arrival, he asked for more money than agreed weeks before for airport transfer and the tour planned for the next day, which made us feel like walking ATMs (and we had already accepted his first price without bargaining!).
At our arrival at 9PM the room was as hot as hell, a/c turned off, no water in the room, no toilet paper. The owner just left us there with no dinner and brought us to a restaurant only when we told him we were hungry and tired. We felt very unwelcome.
No coffee, tea, or any other liquids at breakfast.
The tour to Abu Simbel was overpriced and the owner failed to explain to us what was included. In the end, we just had a simple lift to Abu Simbel, no guided tour, for more than other people on the bus had paid to other guesthouses. Also, the owner only talked to us to sell overpriced services, with the only result that he made us ask other people on the island to find them at their correct price.
The terrace mentioned by other guests is a simple concrete roof that needs maintenance. Other guest houses around cost equal or little more, but offer much more than the White House. We regret we did not book to Mango Guesthouse.
- Soukaina (9/5): I recommand - The room was clean and Hosein was so nice..
- Ziqiu (9/5): Overall decent experience - This place is clean and the interior feels very new.
Right next to the Nile river. Great view.
Breakfast is spectacular!
Host is very fast at responding and very friendly.
Gives local guides and speaks good English. Room & the bathroom is a bit small.
I personally wouldn’t recommend living on this island as it doesn’t really have walkable roads and only one small store on the other side of the island.
Also 200 LE for a 5mins boat ride to the other side is a bit pricey and public ferry is on the other side of the island as well.
- Aylen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jordan (8/5): Very good - The room looked newly finished, with bright white paint and a great AC. Looks like a small guesthouse that's still a work-in-progress. No women working in the hotel. The rooftop provided a great sunset view. For the low price, it was a great stay. Didn't like that we were held at the mercy of their boat/captain. We used the local shuttle a few times to get to the island, but sometimes didn't have another option.
- Maria (9/5): Beautiful and quiet stay - White house was an amazing place to stay. It is a little far from aswan, though this makes it a quiet place in elephantine island. Staff was always very nice and helpful, good egyptian breakfast. Everything was very clean
- Guiselle (10/5): Exceptional room - Room very charm, and comfortable beds, everything looked like brand new, and clean. Very nice view to Nile.
The place is very close to the ferry and you can find everything in the island, and you can stay a little bit far from the noise of the city 😀
Very good host, help you with your visit to Abu Simbel. The fridge doesn't work
- Claudia (9/5): Lovely place and area - The place is very quiet and in a beautiful island, and the personal of the hotel very kind. They came to pick us up with a small boat.
- Beatriz (8/5): Very good -
- Arash (9/5): Overall, our stay at the guesthouse was comfortable and enjoyable, despite a few minor issues. - Located in a peaceful and serene area, this guesthouse is the perfect getaway for those looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The guesthouse boasts a renovated and well-maintained room that offers ultimate comfort. The staff is not only friendly but also attentive to guests' needs, ensuring that guests have a comfortable and memorable stay.
the guesthouse went above and beyond when we experienced a broken fridge by immediately replacing it, ensuring that we were not inconvenienced in any way.
What sets this guesthouse apart is its convenient location. It is only a few minutes' walk to the ferry station, and they offer a transfer service to and from the island for free. This added convenience made our stay all the more enjoyable, and we appreciated the thoughtfulness of the guesthouse.
Overall, we highly recommend this guesthouse for anyone seeking a comfortable, peaceful, and convenient stay. The friendly staff, well-maintained rooms, fast internet, and thoughtful services make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a memorable stay. While our stay at this guesthouse was generally pleasant, there were a few areas where we feel improvement is necessary. Firstly, we noticed that the windows were not sealed properly, and the gap was too big. This allowed dust to enter the room during a storm, which was less than ideal. We hope that the guesthouse management can address this issue and ensure that future guests have a dust-free stay.
Secondly, we found that there was no shade on the rooftop, which made it challenging to enjoy breakfast in sunny weather. We understand that the guesthouse may not have control over the weather, but providing some form of shade such as umbrellas or canopies would be a welcome addition. This would allow guests to enjoy breakfast on the rooftop regardless of the weather conditions.
While these issues did detract slightly from our overall experience, they were minor and did not significantly impact our stay.
- Laurence (10/5): Exceptional - The White House guesthouse is idealy situated in the Elephantine island, with a beautiful view on the Nile's west coast. It is a very calm area. The room is practical and clean. Yacine is a great host, and an amazing Felucca captain I highly recommend going on a day trip on his felucca !
- Keck (10/5): They can charge a more reasonable rate for the shuttle ferry service instead of 200LE to 100LE will be super - The property was new and we love the all white sheets and the beds are very comfortable. Location is a bit off from the public ferry and when you need to go to Aswan you are charged for 200 LE which is very expensive compared with the public ferry only at 5LE each time Only the ferry charges and no place near by to eat for lunch and dinner. They only offer 1 trip free ie all. Also if late departure there is no waiting area. If not the property is fantastic
- Amornrat (9/5): Superb - clean, comfortable, nice quite place, amazing view, good host: He let me check out late after abu simbel trip with packed breakfast nothing
- Gabriela (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, the breakfast was excellent nothing
- Andrea (10/5): Our favourite stay in Aswan - The owner was super helpful all the time, he came to pick us up to the dock and after checking out he took us back. This guest house has just been renovated and it’s beautiful, window pointing at the Nile (picture attached is what we could see from the window) Missing shade on the rooftop when having breakfast, but it looks like they’re going to sort it out :)
- Felicity (7/5): Comfortable clean room, nice breakfast, helpful staff. - The house is set at the edge of the River, where you can watch the comings and goings of wildlife and boats. You arrive by a lovely boat ride. The room is clean and comfortable and breakfast very good. Staff were friendly and arranged our trip and pick up etc for us. There is no where to sit outside as the roof terrace is under construction and there is no shade. This is a pity as the view from up there is great, but even early morning the sun was too hot to stay for more than a couple of minutes. There are very many mosquitos but there is a plug in repellant provided which helps a bit.
- Gabriela (10/5): Amazing 🤩 - Truly one of the best stays we have had in Egypt so far. Amazing location in the Nile, we went for a dip in twice. The view from the room overlooks to the river with sand dunes and a Mosque on the other side.
Our host was amazing took us from elephatine island to Aswan when needed, even at 3am for our Abu Simbel tour and gave us a packed breakfast. The breakfast was really nice, fresh food.
Elephatine island is just across from aswan has a very authentique feel to nubian culture.
clean room, good quality bedding.
- Christian (9/5): Hasan and Yasin are very kind hosts, the view from the hotel is wonderful, and it's very quiet - Excellent typical Egyptian breakfast, served on the roof terrace, with a wonderful view.
- C. (10/5): Exceptional - New guest house: super clean, fully equipped and comfortable rooms. Elephantine island is full of charm, a lovely colorful nubian village and excellent restaurants (amazing lamb tajine and juices) 10min walk away.
Yasin is very kind and can help you book a trip to Abu Simbel or even a felucca. He also picked us up from the ferry pier with a motorboat when we arrived. Good breakfast. Fastest wifi we've had in Egypt. Great value. We've had a lovely time, and would definitely recommend!
- Hautham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lazzerini (7/5): Amazing views but still a building site - The rooms are very pretty and clean / new. The views are amazing. Unfortunately the place is still under construction which means the roof terrace is an unfinished building site and there are builders passing in front of the window of the room.
- Pinkerton (10/5): Fantastic Place to Stay - It was a lovely stay at White House on Elephantine Island. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was large and freshly prepared. The kitchenette was perfect. There was good water pressure and hot water and air conditioning. The communication prior to check in and during my visit was great. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. They helped me arrange tours and provided local information, even waking up early to take me by boat to the mainland for a very early flight and helped me find a taxi. Thanks, Yasin and Husien!
Elephantine Island is beautiful and quiet. A perfect place to stay when visiting Aswan to get away from the hustling and city. Check out the vendor when you get off the ferry on the other side of the island for Nubian souvenirs at a good price and with no hustle.
The wifi was fast and reliable the first 2/3 days of my stay. On the third day it was slower so I just used my data plan instead. I wish I had stayed a bit longer here, as I really enjoyed it. As a solo female traveler, I was not sure what to expect in Aswan, and was pleasantly surprised. I particularly enjoyed my stay at this hotel! On the third day of my visit the wifi was slower than the other two days. Not sure why. I just connected to my data plan and that fixed it.
There are a lot of mosquitos at night, so be sure to plug in the mosquito repellent the hotel provides.
- Manny (10/5): Sensational - It was an amazing stay, the rooms where perfect. I think i was the first guest. They went above and beyond, I had a private car take me to Abu simbel at 3am they ferried me across and packed a breakfast for me. The same on the last day as I had an early flight. The bed was super comfortable and the shower had the best pressure I'd had in Egypt.
- Tracy (10/5): It is an excellent choice for your stay on Elephantine Island! - This is a lovely small guesthouse right on the edge of the island. The boat will drop you right outside the door. Everything is new and all facilities work perfectly, it is spotlessly clean and the beds are super comfortable. You will have your breakfast on the roof overlooking the Nile and across to the other islands. The museum and temple are within walking distance, and there is even a small beach!
