Guest Reviews
- Clémentine (10/5): Personnel très aidant, compréhensif et toujours prêts à aider et répondre aux questions et aux problèmes ! - Le décor et la gentillesse du personnel L’emplacement un petit peu inaccessible en transport
- Lisa (10/5): A place you should step by - We've had a wonderful time in Sunset Camp. Wael was so helpful with us, and we were very happy with the excursions he planned for us. Bassem, the guide he sent us to visit the desert was full of knowledge and so carring with us (helping us to have fair prices when he could have just stay in the car like the other guides). If you want a special experience while staying in Fayoum, you should go through Wael ! Dinner was very local and tasteful, and there is enough to eat for two in one dish. A large campfire is organized at night, and everyone is gathering around to sing and dance, a large group of Egyptians (It was holidays time in Egypt) was there that night, and they made us feel we were part of the family. Tents are simple but it's a fair value for the price.
Definitely a place you should step by if you like to go out of the typical tourist tracks The only thing was the noise coming from the generator from the nearest camp that didn't let us sleep, but luckily for us, it stops at 2am and we never heard it again
- Reindert (9/5): Lovely; back to basic. - We really love the location. Next to the lake and at the border of the protected area. Just walk out the gate and stare over the lake with hundreds of flamingos. We knew it would be basic, and we loved it but the toilets could use some more attention.
- Andrew (9/5): Perfect location and a great place to relax on the edge of the desert. - Location is fantastic - right on the western edge of the lake. We got up for sunrise which was spectacular. We drove through the national park which was a beautiful route. Breakfast: honey and fatir. Delicious! Camp has lots of room and is perfect for reading or just relaxing. Horse riding, sand boarding and boat/kayaks available at a reasonable cost ( horses looked in good condition and well cared for.) Staff made a small fire at sunset and roasted corn and served us Bedouin tea which was lovely. Bathrooms were clean and regularly cleaned during our stay. The tents are really spacious and very comfortable. It is only two hours' drive from Cairo and is well worth the trip. Sunset Camp is a very friendly place It would be great if the lights could be turned down a little so we could see the stars a little better!
Breakfast was great but a simple menu at the camp would be good.
