• Rebecca (1/5): Avoid - It was close to where we needed to be. The state of the property is disgusting! This was the worst hotel we stayed at in our travels. (We stayed in 8 hotel) I get that's it's budget but the cleanliness was appalling. If you have a little more in your budget book a different hotel! They looked like they'd just pulled the covers up on the bed, as there was a body print on the bottom sheet, hair that was not ours on the pillows, dirt marks on the pillow cases, dust everywhere, mould everywhere, rips all in the curtains, hand marks all over the mirrors, chunks of concrete away from the wall which was hidden by a curtain, the air con barely worked. The list goes on. Nothing like the pictures!!

• Miguel (4/5): Noisy as hell. - Clean, right onto Khaosan Road. Many clubs right next to the building, so the noise is unbearable and doesn’t stop until 6am. Rooms are not soundproofed, so the windows vibrate from the loud club music outside. No evelator in Violet Tower (where i stayed) so climbing to the 4th floor with luggage was troublesome.

• Renato (2/5): Name of the hotel is different from what I experienced. I do not recommend this hotel. - Only one thing I like - location and value for money. Mosquitoes in the room. No ventilation, no windows, lighting is bad. The hotel charge 30VND for two small bottle of water. The hotel charge for extra towel and pillow. Communication is challenging. They offer two little sachet of tea but no kettle for hot water. TV not working, no toilet paper. I visited Vietnam four times in past two years, but this particular trip is very much different - disappointing.

• Erika (5/5): Cheap but not very comfortable - Pretty good location, it's easy to walk to most areas of interest (Ben Thanh market, cafe apartment, etc) if you enjoy walking. The room was a good size and they provide Trung Nguyen coffee and tea from Phuc Long. We left after 3 days and came back 5 days later and when I inquired if we could leave our luggage for a few hours before our flight home, they agreed. Staff are very helpful and pretty friendly. The rooms look older than they did in the photos. The beddings were stained and there was hair under the duvet when we just arrived. Despite cleaning the room daily, the duvet felt unclean and made my skin itch so we mostly didn't use it and pushed it aside. We were on the 6th floor and the temp while we were visiting was 36 celsius. The AC had a hard time cooling the room. Because it shuts off when we are not in the room, the room gets warm and takes even longer to cool when we are back. The bathroom floor was very slippery and the drains weren't cleaned the entire 3 nights we stayed.

• Gail (7/5): Just about ok for a day or two… - The staff there are very nice and helpful, within walking distance of Opera House and River front Very basic hotel in a less than salubrious area to say the least. The hotel is on road diagonally opposite Bul Vien (not to our taste), which is similar to Khaosan in BKK.
• Tien (10/5): I give 8/10 for this hotel. - The bed is clean. Initially, the floor wasn't very well-cleaned, but after explaining the situation, the hotel promptly cleaned the floor. This is a very positive aspect! The hotel has a great location, near Bui Vien's Wall Street, approximately 200m away. You can find food and beer throughout the night. Just enjoy! I will definitely return next time. I believe the bed could be a bit more comfortable.

• Korbinian (7/5): Good - was quite alright overall (but don't expect anything luxurious), my room had lots of natural light (plus shades to keep it out), fan and aircon, got clean towels and water every day, staff was friendly and the location is pretty good it's all a bit worn down - the pictures must have been taken a few years ago, the bed was a little squeaky (but not uncomfortable), WiFi sometimes unstable, i could not get the tv to work (did not try hard though)

Was getting difficulties with too young staffs sitting in small reception. Anything asked the answer was 'don't know or not getting' And the bed was average with average size room. But you are paying high

• Rachel (7/5): Not a happy time at happy hotel - +Great location +Late check in okay +Allow you to store luggage after check out + Free toiletries + Day staff seemed nice + Fair price -Room smelled very musty -Towels and bedding didn't smell fresh (possibly because of the room) - Very dark and dingy - there is no natural light in the room due to no external window so to paint it dark colours is bizarre. -Air con did not make room cool - didn't work properly. Fortunately there is a fan but this is something to be aware of. - 2 small bottles of water free then you need to pay 15K per bottle. No filtered water available. - Shower pressure was awful - it was more like a dribble which made washing hair a challenge. Water was not warm. - Staff member who checked me in needs more training. He barely looked at my ID and said "no rooms available". I urged him to look again as I had pre-booked and had been communicating with hotel all week. 20 painful minutes later he found my booking. Not a good first impression. - Key card stopped working and wasn't given a new one which made entering room each time a bit awkward having to rely on reception staff. - Lots of flies and ants in room.

• Nhung (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, but especially during our check-in: Due to a series of unfortunate events, my partner and I arrived at the hotel 2h prior to check-in time, without our passports that were needed for the check-in, and without functioning phones. The hotel staff very willingly helped us find our passports by lending us their phone and even coordinating with various customer service representatives to have our passports delivered to the hotel. On top of that, they let us rest in an available room while we waited to receive our passports to check in—all before the actual check-in time. We felt very well taken care of during our quite stressful travel hiccup, and we're very grateful for the staff at the Happy Hotel. Outside from the exceptional service, everything that was provided (facilities, cleanliness, comfort, location) was as described in the posting and nicely satisfied our expectations as well.

Been before to HCMC and always had a decent or good hotel, but not this time. I will never book again this hotel, even though it has a good location.

I didn’t have hot water. I asked the reception about it and he told me a guy would come and fix it in the morning, but that didn’t happen.

• Kim (6/5): Not good value for money. - Good location. Plenty of places to eat and many coffee shops. About 15 steep steps to get up to the reception area, then there is a lift. We paid extra to have balcony, on first night was told sorry they don’t have room available. So we were given different room with window that wouldn’t shut. Next day we moved to balcony room, didn’t smell nice, overpowering smell of cleaning projects, mixed with the smell of sewerage. Asked for a late checkout to 7pm and had to pay full price, I asked for discount seeing we paid extra for balcony for first night and received 10% discount which was a third of the extra we paid for the balcony. First nights in both rooms no bottles water given. The other two days when cleaned water bottles were given.

So many local restaurants near by walking distance, easy to walk around the area. Hotel staff are very helpful. I didn't have hot water in the room, front staff couldn't speak English but they managed to change the room even I was checking out in 3 hours. I will stay here again. A little bit noisy outside. Warm shower
• Yan (10/5): Exceptional - I am a tourist who comes to Vietnam to visit. When I was tired, I accidentally booked this hotel because it was cheap to rest and I didn't expect too much from this place. But completely opposite to what I imagined, this place is amazing. Besides the lack of breakfast service, almost everything is perfect. The room I booked had a balcony, it was very windy in the afternoon, I really enjoyed the atmosphere here

Although the hotel is a bit small, the layout is very complete, the bed is comfortable, the room is clean. I chose a room with a balcony so it was very pleasant to drink tea and enjoy the breeze in the afternoon. I feel like I'm at home. Highly recommended and I will definitely come back.
