- Roslyn (8/5): We loved our stay, except for the power noise and the stairs to loft. - The seclusion
Seeing the Cassowary having a feast of bananas just outside our door
The outdoor tub
The rustic building
The shower opening up to the view
The ripe pawpaw
Being off-grid The continual hum/noise of the off-grid power tower located outside the kitchen with all the noise going straight up to the loft bedroom throughout the night. since it was so secluded this was very disappointing.
The very steep stairs/ladder to get to the loft bedroom
- Yevgeniy (10/5): - This place is absolutely stunning and perfect for couples. Although we didn't get to meet the cassowary, we had incredible evenings enjoying breathtaking views in a wonderfully secluded spot. It truly made our trip special.
- Athel (10/5): Really special property with unique features and location. -
- Maria (10/5): - Such a beautiful house, right in the middle of the rainforest. We absolutely loved how remote it felt. A truly unique experience.

- Therese (10/5): Perfect - Amazing house and location. Hosts very helpful. Having a fire in the evening with such a beautiful view was amazing Not a problem but Just noting there is no access to a washing machine.
- Anne (9/5): Idyllic location and a gorgeous property. Off grid and made of lovely natural materials. - Location, location, location!. Nestled in the rainforest with views to the see. Cassowary in the garden one morning. I have been exploring different properties in the Diwan area in the last couple of years and this is one of the best. Despite being very careful with the water, and only using the shower 2 out of the 4 days, it ran out the morning I left and I couldn't finish clean up. There is a reslly nice outside bath which I didn't use but be careful if you do, you may find yourself short. I cleaned up at Mason's waterhole after a snorkel to MacKay reef, all good. Check the light switch location before you go to bed in case you have to get up as the stairs to the loft are very steep.
- David (10/5): Stay in the heart of the Daintree rainforest for an unforgettable experience - All the amenities of a comfortable stay whilst being located within the Daintree rainforest. You will not find anything like this place anywhere else in the world. At first I wondered why there wasn't a key but that didn't really pose a problem due to the location.
- Telena (10/5): Perfect romantic location to stay for newlyweds. - Eden escape is unique, secluded and stunning. We originally visited last year and it was this place that convinced us to have our wedding in the daintree. This is our special place and we plan to return for our future anniversaries. Nothing!
- Selma (10/5): Exceptional - Unique location in the Daintree Rainforest. Secluded, quiet, back to nature.
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - Beautiful scenery, exposed wood and stone structure, stunning bathroom Furniture could be more comfortable, shower felt dangerous when slippery
- Ingrid (9/5): Amazingly beautiful ecolodge in the heart of the Daintree - We were so impressed with this off the grid lodge on the middle of the Daintree. The property was stunningly beautiful and the owners put so much care into making sure we had a wonderful time. The kitchen had everything you needed and we felt like we were at home
- Judi (9/5): A lovely off- grid experience surrounded by nature. - Such a beautiful location- sea views, and surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife. The house is made of stone and timber, so feels part of the environment with a few quirky design touches. Nothing- but I should mention that the property would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems, as there are steep stairs to the bedroom, and uneven surfaces around the house.
- Wisetraveller12 (10/5): Would return in a heartbeat - Such a beautiful and tranquil location and gorgeous house. Lovely to have the place and area to ourselves, wonderfully private for a lovely getaway. Everything you needed for cooking and the most stunning bathroom and outlook and comfy bed.
As mentioned by others, the bedroom is up a set of steep stairs, so you do need to be mindful. Would return in a heartbeat. Communication with the owner was easy and friendly. As it is off grid, I was not allowed to use a hairdryer. A sticker on which is hot and cold water in the shower would have been helpful but I got there in the end. Some more towels too as 1 each is not enough.
- Robyn (8/5): Very good - Fantastic location, private and very beautiful.
- Stéphane (10/5): Extremely comfortable getaway in the midst of the forest - The house is gorgeous and is really ideal for a couple of nights in the Daintree. Quite remote so you can get a feeling of being in the nature, but very comfortable nonetheless. It is very beautifully designed as well, and is fully equiped with all you could need. Really can't expect more than this and I couldn't have hoped better... Nothing is to dislike here...
- Wendy (10/5): Absolutely fantastic location in amazing accommodation - Absolutely fantastic in every way. The location was unbelievable. A privilege to stay in this wonderful property. Nothing we didn’t like
- Elizabeth (9/5): A true piece of paradise - A beautiful place to wake up too. Well designed and very peaceful.
Having a shower with the view and sun streaming in was an experience We were there in July . A little cold, needs another blanket for the sofa bed
- Steven (10/5): Excellent gateway perfect for couples who are on their honeymoon or want a romantic trip away. Highly recommend! - The scenery Turning on the oven
- Joeri (10/5): It was truly an escape from reality in one of the most beautiful settings imaginable - The location was absolutely stunning
- Bruce (10/5): This was a piece of isolated paradise and beautifully presented accommodation. - The location was an isolated piece of paradise. The property was beautifully presented. The design and build of the cottage was both intriguing and beautiful. This was for us the best and most unique bnb we have stayed in. We were intrigued with the visiting Cassowary one morning and the tree snake that greeted us at the front door when we got back from dinner one evening. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Telena (10/5): A slice of heaven in the Daintree - The location was incredibly serene and private. The architecture and styling of the place was gorgeous. My partner and I felt like this place was just like something plucked out of a getaway magazine - unreal. We didn’t want our stay to end! Nothing to comment here - we couldn’t fault it!
- Peter (9/5): A beautiful location and fabulous property! - Superb location deep in rainforest with view down the valley to the coast. Great use of timber and stone in the building - very comfortable. And a visit from the cassowary at breakfast time on our last morning. What a treat! The property is completely off grid which is fabulous but the only downside of that is the humming that comes from the battery unit.
- Peter (9/5): Everything you need for a quiet and beautiful taste of the Daintree - Great sustainable, private, interesting, pretty and quiet rainforest location. Nothing but maybe some matches or fire starters for starting a fire.
- Greg (9/5): Just fabulous, we hope to return! - Great location and had everything including big fridge and stove with oven, all accessories and amenities and a bbq on the back patio. The bathroom was fabulous with views to match and the quiet location and privacy was lovely! Host Thea was a delight to deal with when we rearranged our booking and gave us all the information we needed to enjoy our stay. The stairs to the delightful loft bedroom were a bit steep for us with some mobility issues.
- Frederic (9/5): Superb - Unique setting tucked away in the rain forest
- Girija (9/5): Great stay! Great ambience! -
- Molly (9/5): Beautiful villa nestled in the Daintree rainforest. All the facilities we could ask for, went above and beyond. Such a s - Fantastic scenery, nestled right in the Daintree rainforest. Comfortable bedding and lounge area, beautiful shower with a view, fantastic interior design made stay feel very authentic. Nothing - all was perfect.
- Lynette (10/5): A Little Piece of Paradise - Eden Retreat was, to us, a little piece of paradise. The property, gardens and vista were beautiful. We felt completely removed from the rest of the world, and yet everything we wanted to see or do was less than half an hour away by car.
Cooking was a breeze with the five-burner gas cooktop and oven, as was meal prep on the long wooden bench top. The pantry included staples such as coffee, tea, sugar, salt & pepper, olive oil and a few sauces and spices. We very much appreciated the inclusion of a stove-top coffee maker too.
We loved the view from the bathroom whilst standing under the rain shower each morning. It's possibly the nicest bathroom we've ever seen. The property was truly unique and the use of stone, timber and rock was beautifully and carefully done.
Sitting outside first thing in the morning and in the late afternoon listening to the birdsong was delightful. We felt very privileged to be surrounded by the Daintree rainforest whilst looking out over the Coral Sea. A very special place indeed.
