Door 74, secret cocktailbar next door We stayed four people in the apartment from May 14, 2026 to May 17, 2026, and we would not recommend this apartment to others in any way. Things we were dissatisfied with in the apartment: It is very misleading to call it an apartment since it consists of two bedrooms, a toilet and a shower. To get to the toilet or shower you have to ealk through one of the bedrooms. The keys to get into the rooms were very confusing. We got 3 keys and only one og them was labeled different from the others. The stairs into the rooms were very narrow and smelled badly. There were no light in the stairs as it only worked when you were in front of the rooms. The apartment was very cold, even though it was May. There was a draft coming through the windows, and it was not possible to turn the two radiators up enough to make the apartment warm. There was an extra heater, but both the cable and the plug were burnt (the plug was completely black), and we did not dare use it after discovering how much the plug and cable overheated during use. We wrote to the host during our stay to say that we were freezing. He replied that he had entered the apartment (without our consent) and turned up the thermostat. However, this did not help much, which we also informed him about, but he never responded again. Several previous reviews also mention problems with the heating and the heater, but this still has not been addressed. The landlord stopped answering us after he made one response to our complaints. There are three windows in the apartment. One has a roller blind, another has a curtain that cannot fully cover the window, and the third has no curtain at all. When it gets light outside, the apartment also becomes bright. Reviews from more than a year ago also mention the missing curtain, but this still has not been addressed. There are three ceiling lights in the two bedrooms of the apartment. One of the lights does not work. It is not possible to properly light the apartment when it is dark...
• Grischka (7/5): - Es hatte alles, was es braucht (Duschtücher, Bettbezug, Gläser, …) Es ist eine sehr dunkle Unterkunft; kein direktes Sonnenlicht, weil die Fenster nur in einen Innenhof gerichtet sind. Die Unterkunft ist nicht liebevoll eingerichtet. Es hat kaum Deko oder so; einfach nur das nötigste.
• Ke (6/5): Nicht schlecht - Die Unterkunft liegt super zentral – zum Einkaufen und Essen geht’s einfach. Alle wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten sind auch fußläufig zu erreichen, und das Zimmer ist sauber und gemütlich eingerichtet. Schön wäre es, wenn im Zimmer noch ein Herd, eine Mikrowelle oder ein Ofen vorhanden wären – das würde die Selbstversorgung echt erleichtern!

• Giles (1/5): - The accomodation was not very satisfactory. There was rubbish bags on the stairs when we arrived. Some of the lights did not work and neither did the hairdryer and lack of a kitchen area. I could have had a good hotel for the money we spent 4440 euros

• Gary (3/5): Not an apartment, would not recommend - It was in a great location Clean and well presented There were a number of issues: 1. Stairs steep and dangerously unlit 2. It was not an actual apartment, you had to access one of the bedrooms for the only bathroom, you enter the place straight into a bedroom 3. Nowhere to sit, not any chairs, we had to bring in 2 uncomfortable patio chairs 3. Patio was disgusting and the people upstairs flicked cigarette butts into it 4. Upstairs neighbours were noisy 5. There was a huge air vent/ pipe outside the window 6. No curtains on one of the windows leaving us exposed, the other curtains did not even fit the window 7. No communication about checking out Have added picture of the view from a bedroom
• Gemma (8/5): - Great location, very spacious. Was very cold. Heaters weren't giving much heat off and nowhere to control the heating. No TV was a down point too
• Alicia (5/5): Convenient location but the apartment was very underwhelming and not as I had hoped from the pictures - The property is in a good location. The apartment appears to be an add on to someone else’s property. The doors/locks to get into the actual bit where we stayed was a task due to multiple keys to multiple doors. The staircase to the apartment was very unclean with black bags and someone’s mail on the floor. There was a door leading into the apartment and then a second door that opened into the actual apartment which also feature a lock. The first door had a lock and a washing machine that appeared to be used by the owner? But was also for use of the guests? Which I thought to be very strange. The apartment had no heating, only an electric heater that had a very burnt/brown/black plug to the end. The kettle had limescale in the bottom of it. There was no actual kitchenette, just a fridge in the larger bedroom with a kettle and a coffee machine with left over water in. There was no sink to wash pots in, just the bathroom sink in the shower with some washing up liquid on the side. There was a large hole out of the plaster in the larger bedroom and only a select few of the lights worked which made the apartment very dull. The larger bedroom has a stain on the bedding pillow & one of the windows in there didn’t have a blind which creating a feeling of no privacy due to the back of the apartment being over looked by other apartments and windows. The people who lived upstairs were extremely nosey and you could hear everything, from foot steps to the shower being turned on.
• Darlene (8/5): Had a great time. - Loved the location, easy and quick to tram into central, neighbourhood lovely to walk around day and night, varied eating places nearby. Bathroom lovely, beds very comfy. The room was lovely and warm at night. Great sleep every night. A couple of the overhead lights in apartment didn’t work , there was a large gap in plaster on one wall, the stairs were a mission with our suitcase but ultimately manageable. I’d suggest removing the large heater with the blown plug.

Med små grep, kunne det ha blitt mye mer innbydende og praktisk. Det luktet matos fra restauranten under. Balkongen var udelikat. Bildene i annonsen var «sminket».

• Phillip (7/5): My stay in Amsterdam was fantastic but I would not stay in the "apartment" again. - The location was excellent; just a short walk to Rembrandt square and many restaurants and bars. The "apartment" was really just 2 bedrooms with a toilet and shower room. The only chairs were in the cramped dirty and smelly outside space. The only cooking facility was a kettle, and the only sink was in the shower room. This is not the sort of place you can return to for lunch, or shelter in on a rainy day.

It was nothing what it looked like in the pictures on booking.com, small toilet, and the owner lives in a room next door within the apartment, you can hear them talking and watching tv loud. The bedsheets were dirty, the outside terrace has no privacy at all, one of the bedroom doesnt have curtains, the people above the apartment can see you in your bed through their windows and if they are on their balcony. There was a wall thats damaged in one of the bedroom, the bathroom stunk of blocked sewage the first day, there's no tv, aside from all the above, it was a really good location.
• Kirsten11 (1/5): Don't go near it!! - Not a lot Filthy steep dangerous staircase entry and exit. Absolutely filthy view from both beds. Sooo hot, couldn't sleep with windows open because of mosquitos and smell of curry up from below, but no air conditioning. Noisy with huge ducting, people vomiting, and shouting in middle of the night. Plaster falling off wall, electrical socket fell out of wall. Filthy dirty cupboard with washing machine in. Would have moved somewhere else on day 1, but Amsterdam full for F1 Grand Prix and we had an 84 year old with us.
• Ingo (6/5): Zum schlafen reicht es aus - Die Lage gut zu erreichen, Zentral zu Sehenswürdigkeiten, Nachtleben und Restaurants und es war trotzdem Nachts ruhig und gut zu schlafen. Die Betten waren bequem. Es gab 2 Schlafzimmer und die Toilette war von Duschraum getrennt Sehr dreckiges, unfreundliches Treppenhaus. Sehr dreckige, liebloses Terrasse mit Zigaretten Stummeln und Müll (Plastikdeckel, Safttüte etc) Allgemein war die Wohnung verwohnt, Tapete fiel in einem Schlafzimmer von der Wand. Die Waschmaschine war außen völlig verdreckt (da nicht benutzt, keine Ahnung wie das Innenleben der Maschine war) Die Bettwäsche roch zwar nicht dreckig, war aber fleckig und löchrig

• Joshu (1/5): This is NOT an apartment, you are booking 2 bedrooms for an uncomfortable stay. Very disappointed and by far the worst p - The location is probably the only good thing about the property. Extremely compact, pictures do not give an accurate impression of the apartment at all. If I’d have known what it ACTUALLY looked like inside, I wouldn’t have wasted a second looking at this property. There is NO living space in the apartment so you cannot relax at all. There’s also very limited clothing space (definitely not enough for 4 people which this apartment sleeps), poor kitchen facilities, no TV and the apartment lay out is poor- people in one of the bedrooms need to walk through the other bedroom to just use the toilet. The outside decking looks really nice and spacious but what they fail to tell you is what you see on the picture actually only takes up about 5% of the decking. The rest of the space is taken up by air vents, rubble and rubbish. There was 2 bedrooms in our apartment that we accidentally walked into upon arrival and had an awkward encounter. The people who live above were extremely loud. The apartment was dirty, the wall had a hole in it with wallpaper and debris on the floor. The glasses and mugs were dirty and poor quality, one of our guests picked one up and it smashed in her hand. The sheets and pillow cases were stained.
• Phelan (7/5): Great value, excellent location, clean and comfortable enough. Would book again - Location, clean enough and tidy, good beds and shower, plenty of spaces to unpack our luggage. Excellent value compared to other city accommodation. 1 of our 2 bedroom windows had absolutely no blinds or curtains. Luckily that was away from the bed and was reasonably shaded but not great for dashing from the bed to the bathroom. The unlabelled keys were a bit of a faff, we had 4 unlabelled keys to get through 3 doors into the apartment from the street.
• Kathy (3/5): Disappointing, not worth the money - The location and contactless check in Kettle and hairdryer didn’t work. Unable to reach host for replacement. Terrace area was covered with cigarette butts. One of the bedroom windows was missing a blind. Messages host about broken kettle but message wasn’t read. Heating didn’t work and there was one portable heater between two bedrooms. Plug of this had scorch marks on it. No lighting on entrance stairway - difficult to see at night.

• Lilly (4/5): A place to sleep - Was close to some shops , and beds were comfy We arrived at 13:00 and the place was dirty , the cleaner was sent straight out but unfortunately it was still disappointing, there was plaster missing of the wall the sink was coming of the wall , the kettle was broken and the window had tissue at the top were it wasn't shutting properly, also the first door you walk in was very difficult to get it you had bang your whole against it multiple time to open it , it was down as non smoking yet ther were fag nubs all over the balcony , and lastly the decorative cushion were dirty.

• Lisa (7/5): The apartment was basic but was ok for a few nights. The location was fantastic. - Fantastic location, very central. Lovely hot shower. Small outside space with table and chairs. Plug in radiator helped to keep us warm in very cold weather. The apartment was small and cramped with no communal space inside. The person staying in the bedroom has to walk through the other bedroom to get to the toilet. Awkward to get into the apartment with 3 different locks and tight spaces. One bed was a sofa bed which would not have been comfortable for 2 people as the mattress kept sliding away and the bed was lopsided. Kettle didn't work.
• Chandrima (5/5): Passable - Location The description was deceptive. There is no living/sitting area, just two rooms with beds. There is no kitchenette, and the kettle and coffee machine did not work. The fridge stopped working on the second last day of our stay, and there was no power on the last day of our stay. We messaged the provider about this and received no message at all. We received no check instructions either. The view from the terrace and all windows is very unsightly. See my photos of the view. I would not recommend this accommodation.

That's not mentioned in the description. Illegal: No Invoice, no contact to owner, nothing. Booking does not offer help or anything. Worst experience that I have ever had with a property
• Clare (7/5): Great location and nice apartment, but poor maintenance and response to problems. - Great location and nice to have balcony access. Bedding and towels were fresh and apartment generally clean. The communal stairs up to the apartment were very dirty. The light in the toilet didn’t work which meant no light in the room at all due to no window. The kettle also didn’t work. I contacted the owner about both these issues but they were not resolved during our stay and I still haven’t had a response.

There were a lot of very good places to eat nearby, and it was close to everywhere we were planning on visiting. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. We had a 1pm check-in and the room hadn't been cleaned yet by the time we arrived.
• Emma (4/5): Disappointing - Great location. Rooms nice and clean. Not as described, on arrival we climbed some filthy stairs which were filled with unopened post and flakes of paint - not the best start! This accomodation isn't an apartment it's just two bedrooms, a toilet and a seperate shower room. Sure its clean and the bed was comfy but it needs a overhaul. The balcony has a horrendous view of ventilation and is old, slippy and unsafe. There was no blind up in one of the bedrooms so totally exposed. The curtains in the other are not wide enough so only half cover window. Kettle doesn't work. No heating on or option to put on, so super cold; although there was a electric heater the plug was all burnt so felt unsafe to use. No bedside lamp just a super bright lamp in ceiling. Logistics of door makes it difficult to get into and unsafe to get out of. Attempted to message owner to get a bedside lamp and kettle but never received a response in the three days we were there or since. Very disappointing, given this was a trip for our sons 18th.

• Magali (8/5): Very good - The host is very kind and response very quickly. The flat has a perfect location in the center of Amsterdam, you can visit the city easily. Lots of restaurants and bars all around. The beds are nice.
• Izabela (8/5): Very good - Great location, comfortable beds, okay bathroom. No electric kettle, coffee machine too small. A little neglected patio, despite a large ventilation pipe, can be used to do something cool. Maybe some plants.
• Sarah (1/5): would not recommend as long as there is no lock on the doors. - the location is great. there was no lock on the door, it felt very unsafe. when I asked the owner about it, I never got a response. I could barely slept because of it.
