Guest Reviews
- Tania (10/5): Amazing stay! - The location, being private and surrounded by animals like wallabies and kangaroos that visit quiet often, owner keeps bags of food for us to feed on daily bases. The house was clean, modern and luxurious. Far away from local shops and restaurants but that was expected as advised by owner.
- Richard (10/5): A prime location and property with first class features and wildlife literally on the doorstep - The location was amazing. A large property with excellent features and facilities. Wildlife everywhere and brilliant sunrises. Can’t think of anything
- Amy (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Quiet location with abundant wildlife and comfortable house - We loved the location and the wildlife was great, feeding the kangaroos each day was incredible, house had everything we needed. Would highly recommend for a family if you are wanting something relaxing, is close to Pennington Bay Beach and a short drive to Penneshaw or American River for coffee and food. the deck facing the water was a bit dirty with bird droppings and couldnt really sit around or use the fire pit as there was a massive ants nest but did not affect our stay at all as we enjoyed watching all the small birds flying around and into the boxes mounted for them to use.
- Frieke (10/5): Fantastisch en onvergetelijke uitzichten over de lagoon. - Fantastisch uitzicht en goed ingericht huis. Keuken is compleet en de kamers & badkamers perfect.
- Yvonne (8/5): A spacious comfortable home with expansive views. - The views, the remoteness, the large deck & visiting wildlife.
- Michelle (8/5): Nice house but not really pleasant experience - The location is good. Even it’s a bit isolated, it’s still only 15 min drive to restaurants and grocery. It has nice lagoon view. The owner was kind enough to provide kangaroo food for us to feed kangaroos. We all loved their morning and afternoon visits. There was a power shortage when we checked in and the power didn’t come back on until 11:00pm. No power - no hot water even though there is gas .. the gas system requires electricity - and eventually no water at all . Whilst we understand things like this could happen in a remote or any place, what we don’t like is there’s no water during the outage and the next morning because of the power shortage and you are required to reset the pump to get the water running again which is not at the house but at a shed on the property . The property manager should have let us know this would be what’s required instead of letting us figure it out and again ringing / texting her in the morning to understand what is needed to be done .
- Luc (10/5): Incroyable - Superbe et incroyable La vue
La maison superbe
Les kangourous
- Renee (9/5): Pure serenity, unbelievable views, kangaroos and thoughtful touches, the perfect stay! - The view was absolutely superb, with stunning scenery visible from every room. It was incredibly peaceful, you truly feel as though you’re the only people in the world. Kangaroos visited the back deck in the afternoons, which the kids absolutely loved.
The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, and the laundry and bathrooms were spotless and well stocked with essentials. We were also greeted with lovely touches, fresh flowers, wine, and chocolate on arrival.
The layout was spacious and welcoming, with a large open-plan kitchen and living area, two bathrooms, and three comfortable bedrooms. It was the perfect base for exploring the island, and we would definitely love to return. Yes, there was bird poo on the back deck but that's nature :)
- Ting (10/5): - Great location and well equipped kitchen. The moment we walked in, we could smell our favourite oriental lilies! It was super welcoming!! We stayed for three nights from Christmas Eve. Bread, coffee, wine, chocolate and some KI local products were carefully selected and prepared for our stay, which was totally beyond our expectation!
Beddings were clean and comfy, we had very good night sleep.
Kangaroo feeding was another fun part of our stay. Kangaroo food was provided for us to feed the kangaroos, almost a dozen came around for food every night.
- Brygida (10/5): -
- Kerri-Lea (10/5): I’d stay longer next time - Absolutely beautiful home and great location. Nothing
- Stephanie (10/5): Amazing views, perfect for family - We love everything here! Sunrise and sunset views are gorgeous! Kangaroos visit us everyday!
The red bin needs to be replaced, and kangaroo foods need to be refilled. Nothing
- Aileen (10/5): Outstanding place for a family holiday - This was an absolutely outstanding base for a family holiday to explore Kangaroo Island. We loved the peace and quiet and wildlife, but it was convenient for exploring too. Warm, comfortable and absolutely perfect for a lovely family holiday. The only part we didn’t like was leaving!
- Julie (10/5): Beautiful home, Perfect location and very friendly kangas, - The location was fantastic - remote enough to feel you're in the middle of nowhere yet only 8 minutes from American River. The best location for Kangaroo Island. The daily visits from the kangaroos was very special. We loved hanging out on the deck with a glass of wine watching them and my two young boys loved giving them kanga feed.
The house itself was exceptional - beautfiful with great sized rooms, all the facilities you need and perfect for our family of 4. There was a bedroom we didn't use so you could easily fit 6 in the house. Nothing - the perfect holiday.
- Wendy (9/5): A serene experience! Beautiful views, peaceful and restful. - Views, location, serenity, comfort and facilities
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic, just remember to turn left at the junction at the top of the track to the house.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and helpful
Property was lovely and supplied some unexpected extras
Was good having tea with wildlife outside
- Glenn (10/5): Exceptional - View was sensational. Wildlife was great. Little touches like fresh flowers in the vase was lovely. BBQ was pretty grubby.
- Lynne (8/5): Beautiful location but needs some tlc - The location and wildlife Needs a deep clean
- Larry (8/5): Excellent stay and will be back - It was a great stay. Ideally sited for our needs - quiet and relatively isolated. The house was clean and well kitted out for cooking, laundry, coffee, TV, internet. We thoroughly enjoyed the bird life and the visits from the Kangaroos and Wallabies; we did need to provide daily topping up of the water hole and bird bath. Great view of Pelican Lagoon and close to town of American River. There is a garage and we used it. We had no issues with the stay and will go back again. The outside barbecue was not clean and there was a bunch of trash around it - we did not use. The seating areas need to be cleaned regularly as they get very dusty and lots of bird poop on the chairs and lounger. We cleaned them to be able to use them. To attract the Kangaroos and birds, need to fill up the water hole and bird bath - this needs to be mentioned in the instructions.
- Johana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): True Kangaroo Island experience - Mallee Rise is a nice big, comfortable house surrounded by nature and with excellent views. Kangaroos come and visit and there are lots of birds. It feels like a genuine Kangaroo Island experience! The birds make a mess of the deck and walk on the roof.
- Kitty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Praveen (9/5): Stay was great with all the facilities and a top notch view 😍 - The view is top notch and exceeded my expectations.
The kitchen was fully equipped, allowing us to prepare our meals with ease, and the outdoor space was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the fresh air. We especially loved the cozy living area, which was ideal for gathering and spending quality time together.
The location was also a major plus with outdoor camp fire. WIFI is not available and the barbecue was not cleaned properly. We didn’t get a chance for early check-in!
- Aneta (10/5): It was a perfect stay! - Exceptional views, all fine details covered, clean and well serviced.
