Guest Reviews
- Weng kei (6/5): - If the it is not a busy time, Let the customer check-in 1 or 1/2 hour earlier if the room is already clean, a
- Jason (8/5): - Chech in desk was hard to identify as 2 hotel/motel running out of same desk but not identified outside/inside of building
- Marie (10/5): - The rooms were dated. But very clean and the staff were exceptional.
- Brenda (10/5): - The hotel was really nice. Loved the fact that you could park outside your room and they had picnics table outside so we were able to have get togethers without having security guards t long us to go inside
- Ralph (10/5): - The staff was excellent. For an unknown reason the tv was not working. Two staff came to the room to check on it at the same time the lights in the room started flickering. The two staff members were concerned about safety and moved us to the next room. They carried our suitcases, cooler, camera bag etc.and would not consider taking a tip. They said that it was their duty.
- Karen (8/5): - Carpet has been placed over a large hole in the floor near the bed. Very difficult to walk there. No recycling bin in room. Otherwise very happy overall.
- David (10/5): - Beautiful spacious and comfortable room
- Joanne (8/5): Don't stay here - There was no where to sit in the room other than the bed. There was plenty of space for a couple of chairs which we had to ask for. I put the maid service sign up but no one came to the room so I had to go to the front desk to get toilet paper and towels. The paint is peeling off the window frames inside and out. Really a dump.
- Candace (10/5): - Really nice front desk worker. Offered to help with my bags.
- Lisa (8/5): - Room was comfy and clean. Amenities was just what I needed for a night away
- Karen (8/5): - Met all of our needs. Thank you
- Douglas (6/5): - This is the second time I've stayed here. It is very basic. Pretty much a bed and bathroom. But it is clean, quiet, relatively inexpensive and convenient to downtown Stratford.
- Anita (4/5): - Shabby. Was not told at checkin that cleaning had to be requested. Then I was grilled about what level of cleaning I wanted (just towel change and empty the one tiny wastebasket or a full cleaning. The shower had great water pressure.
- Holly (10/5): - The rooms are spacious and very clean
- Tara (6/5): - On the positive side, my bed was very comfortable! But for the carpet with a couple of stains, the room was clean.
The shower was a walk-in so that was a plus also but a grab bar beside the toilet for people who need help with accessibility should be something management should highly take in to consideration.
Getting into the room was a bit of a challenge, I have mobility issues so it was a big step to get up and in. The real issue was when you took that first step into the room there was a big soft spot in the floor. Except for the bathroom area, the carpeted floor was uneven when walking, felt spongey. We felt as if we might go through in certain areas.
Where our room was located, the driveway had a huge pot hole. So if you arrived in the evening you would surely go into as it is pretty much in the middle of the road and could cause damage to your car.
- lise (10/5): - There was a slight odour in the room.
- rick (6/5): Good value - Decent room for the price. Motel rooms are not as nice as the Quality Inn that is part of same property. But they are quieter due to being single story walkout, so no hallway noise.
- Serge (8/5): Needs TLC - Looks better on site than reality. Needs TLC.
- Mansoor (10/5): - Good
- Kathryn (2/5): - rooms were very musty smelling, obviously had not been used in a while Complained and were given rooms in their Quality suites (their property next door)
- Rosemary (10/5): - It exceeded all my expectations. How terrific to find an affordable place to.stay in Stratford !
- James (10/5): - Great owners
- Peter (6/5): Festival Court Review - The signage for the office was nonexistent so we drove around the building to try to find it. In order to get into our room, we had to walk around a huge weed that was jutting out into the sidewalk. The bathroom door could not close. There was no recycling container. The shower door needed cleaning.
On the positive side, the beds were comfortable and the fridge and coffeemaker were very good! We were happy to see and use the USB port.
- Sandra (4/5): - Both this property and the adjacent Quality Inn & Conference Centre are disasters. There's no signage for the Festival Courtyard Inn, and we drove around the pothole-filled parking lot looking for the reception area. We finally found what looked like an office for the Conference Centre and were told that we could check in there, but were warned that both the restaurant and the bar were "temporarily" closed. When we got to our room, we were shocked by the condition of the windows, which needed a lot more than a new coat of paint - more like total replacement, as the wood was obviously rotting. Inside, the room was a huge disappointment, looking NOTHING like any of the rooms displayed online. The only furniture was the bed, one night table, and a dresser, but there was a huge empty space by the window. The bedspread was badly stained, as were the threadbare towels. The 2 soaps that were provided were more like tokens than bars. The bathroom mirror (the only mirror in the room) had water and, um, other marks all over it, and there was a big handprint clearly visible on the TV screen. I understand that the Conference Centre is being "renovated" - there were signs of construction activity here and there - but it appeared to me that it would be faster and easier just to demolish the entire property and rebuild. The once-proud Festival Inn, where I stayed many times in better times, is now a sad eyesore, and I would never spend another night at the Festival Courtyard Inn.
- Judy-Anne (8/5): - Nice, clean, 30 minute walk to Festival on sidewalk, near shopping mall and restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great price. Nice indoor pool.
- Colin (2/5): - It should be condemned.
It's unfit for human habitation.
- Irene (6/5): - Room is very musty. Need to air it out / get rid of carpet. No heater in bed area can’t open front window. Bathroom had been upgraded. So looks like they’re working on things.
No staff in the front area (sign said away for 10 minutes but not what time they left) but computers were on and paperwork left out in the open . Not good for privacy. Then both staff came back same time well after ten minutes.
- David (4/5): - We stayed a whole week but did not get any room service until we complained 2 days in a row (that was the 4th and 5th day). We kept getting promises of clean towels/linens but nothing happened until the morning of the 6th day.
The setting was quiet.
We do not plan to use this facility again due to the lack of response on the part of the staff and condition of the facility.
- Christopher (2/5): - Very disappointed in the quality of the hotel considering the price per night. The toilet was black and had looked like it had never been cleaned. The water was leaking in the bathroom so the floor was constantly wet. The entire room smelt like mold and cigarettes. There were dead flies all over the room. The door frame looked like it had been kicked in before so the door didn’t close properly creating an unsafe environment. Stay away and find somewhere else.
- Colleen (6/5): - The place is in a bit of chaos. It's unclear where the Quality Inn ends and Festival In begins. The rooms are motel style. The bathroom is newly renovated. Otherwise everything is old and seriously run down. The floor has soft spots and holes under the worn out cigarette burned carpet.
- Herbert (6/5): No expectations - but they have a pool - When you can find a hotel room for under one hundred dollars, we came with no expectations. We came for the theatre and just needed a place to sleep before travelling home. It wasn't fancy. We found out the next day there is an indoor pool we could have used, but that was not on the list of amenities.
- Hsiao (6/5): - Was nice, easy stay, only AC was too cold
- Leonard (6/5): - Grass needed cutting
- Madison (4/5): - Had to go back 3 times to get a new room. First room key did not work in the door, second room we went to hadnt been cleaned from the previous people, third room was hot and stuffy took a long time for ac to actually cool the room. Tv screen flickers. Hair dryer broken. Tv remote barely works. Room 329
- Mohammed Qasim (8/5): - They are good
- Ramaljit (4/5): - Room had a old merky musty smell and the coffee for the Coffee machine was only decaf the 1st day. When I asked for regular it was brought much later when I had already left for the day. I did have coffee for the 2nd day.
- Susan L (10/5): - No free breakfast, unable to find
- Susan (6/5): - This facility is very dated. The rooms were clean but very basic. Carpets stained in places and towels well worth although fresh.
There was no hair dryer in the room. I was given one when I asked.
- Patti (2/5): - We were coming into Stratford for theatre and had booked 2 nights at this hotel. The first room we were given looked like the door had been pried open with a crowbar, paint was peeling from every area of the exterior and the grass was not cut. We entered the room and were BLASTED with the smell of cigarette smoke and air freshener. There were multiple burn holes in the carpet the size of toonies. We went to the front desk and asked for another room. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. The second room we were given smelled heavily of air freshener and I had a headache from it in less than 10 mins. The bathroom had no soap, no shampoo and 1 towel. The shower head was held on with orange duct tape and water was leaking around the tape. The bed had 3 pillows, there were rust marks all over the musty smelling carpet where furniture had been moved. The window had a sticky cling film on it, I am guessing for privacy, and again, the door also looked like it had been pried open. Again, we went to the front desk to get a different room and they had nothing appropriate available. We asked for a refund because the room was not habitable. They gave us the funds back for one night, but the charges for the first night stayed because the window to cancel the reservation had lapsed. The reviews on this hotel on the site said 7/10 and we had stayed here in the past and been happy. The hotel has clearly gone through some ownership change and it now resembles more of a flophouse.
- Joanne (10/5): - all good
- Reilly (6/5): - The property has changed a lot since the last time I stayed, a number of years ago. The first door key I was given did not work and there were some plumbing issues with the toilet so it would continue to fill and make noise well after use. It became quite loud and thankfully it stopped into the evening.
I was informed to look for signage noting the Festival courtyard Inn since the lot shared space with the Quality Inn, but there was no signage I could see for the Festival. Check in was tricky because of this.
- Joan (4/5): - called hotel that doesnt even have a sign to indicate where it is. The rooms were clean but looked like a dive because of stained and torn wall paper, broken trim around the door lock and a look that I can only describe as cheap old motel furniture thrown at random into a room. I would not recommend this as a nice place to stay.
- Tim (8/5): - Okay
- Cheryl (6/5): - Beds were clean and comfortable but carpet is old and outdated and room kinda smelled musty a bit. In a quiet area but Nobody was in the office where the sign says Festival Courtyard Inn Office. Had to check-in next door at the Quality Inn. They should have a notice on the Festival office door for this. Good enough for a cheaper price.
- Jennifer (8/5): - The only complaint I have is that there’s no complimentary breakfast. I believe there was breakfast available for a cost, but we chose to go out instead. Otherwise, nice place to stay.
- John (6/5): - Vicinity of theatre and many food options. Confusion checking in; didn't know I had to go next door and was staying at the Quality Inn instead of the Festival Inn.
- Kerry (8/5): - .
- Hayley (2/5): - There is not sign for this back lot property which was very confusing to find after a long journey. The bed was comfortable but the sink shower carpet and windows in the room were growing mold.
- Nancy (2/5): It's a lie. Disgusting place. - The rooms do not look the photos(pictures look like they were taken from the Quality Inn, they are not clean, they smell funny, stains all over the bedding, the carpets are filthy, shower was coated in soap scum. No warning or lighting of the location being behind a restaurant and another hotel. Keycard left in mailbox, no pool, no hot tub, no bar, no service.
We did not stay and I don't recommend anyone with any hygiene or sensibility to either.
- Carla (4/5): - The bed was not a standard queen, there was no tv remote, the furniture was not really usable. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. A place to sleep but that was about it. The driveway into the facility was tight and we almost got into an accident as someone was driving too fast
- Maria (2/5): - Hard to find. Wouldn’t split bill, unfriendly host. Carpets filthy. Dead insects. Stains on all linen. Coffee maker dirty or not working. Sink faucet extremely loose. Room keys not working had to be replaced multiple times. Beds soft.
Way overpriced for a virtual dump!!
Do not stay here.
- Kathryn (4/5): - Very bare bones. Should have been a lower price to correspond.
Worst - I had NO internet connection. I tried both eveing and morning - nothing.
- jOHN (10/5): - If you are looking for a quiet place to sleep at an affordable price this might be the motel for you. It is completely shielded from the busy highway 7 going through Stratford. As a result I had a great sleep all rested up for my busy day
- Jovan (10/5): - Very quaint inn with reasonable prices. Perfect for the two nights we spent in the town. Very flexible check-in times as well!
- Leigh Anne (8/5): - Reasonably priced for what you get. Clean towels. Room was clean except for a couple of chairs with old stains on them.
- Sheila (8/5): - Great spot, well priced.
- Alanna (4/5): - The location was odd, behind another hotel. It was private and had nice green space. The sheets were clean and no signs of unwelcome creatures.
This facility is old and out of date, with a musty smell, likely from the carpet. We had two rooms and both had some funky floor issues where it sunk or was soft in places.
It was just a quick overnight otherwise we would have switched to another hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay with a dog - Yout Inn was very welcoming. The rooms are set up lovely and it is a great place to stay if you have a dog. I love the fact that the doors are open to the outside and just a few feet away from your vehicle. Nice clean potty area for the dogs. Thank you.
- Keith (4/5): - Not as advertised. I called before booking and was told they had a pool. NO POOL.
You get what you pay for.
Would not recommend for family stay.
- donald (8/5): - a place in the country - the surroundings beautiful.
The property is old and will be replaced next year.
- Michel (2/5): - Pictures upon booking were deceiving. Showed a pool, there is no pool (it used to be attached to the hotel next door but at check in they told us they were sold a year ago and not responsible for what's still showing online. The room had a terrible odor, dirty carpets, dirty shower, one towel and garbage in the garbage can. I couldn't get the tv working either. Thank goodness we were only there one night or we would have went somewhere else the 2nd night. NOT worth $180 at all!
- Shannon (4/5): - Check in was done by phone which helped us as we were coming in to town later than expected. Unfortunately the rooms are in bad shape. There were multiple holes/soft spots under the carpet in the main room (very disconcerting), shower was dirty and had a good deal of mould, and there was a dead bug on the side of the coffee cups. Also smelled quite musty. Not worth $180 per night.
- Rosalind (8/5): - It was fine for one night!
- Vince (4/5): - This motel has definitely seen better days. The whole place has a feeling of neglect about. There was no table or chair in the room and the small couch was badly stained Snead not comfortable.
- Kenneth (4/5): - Lack of appropriate furnishings
- Kevin (6/5): - Okay for what we needed. A place to stay and sleep. Beds were comfortable and shower was nice.
- Janine (6/5): - Wifi was not good...only access at front door but mostly it just kicked me out. No coffee with caffeine in the room. Towels were old and stained. Carpet baddly stained or burnt.
Bathroom recently redone and was in good shape. Nice shower and good water pressure. B3d and bedding were fine. Equiped with fridge, microwave and coffee maker.
- JACKIE (6/5): - Basic accommodation . Good for 1 night for Stratford Festival
- Cindy (2/5): - Booked online, showed up and was told we didnt pay enough for the rooms we booked, and that the rooms weren't avIlable. When we decided to leave, he followed us into the parking lot saying he wanted us to come back and he would get us rooms.
- Ismail (6/5): - average overall, not bad for the price, considering the high cost of downtown Stratford hotels.
- philip (4/5): - Don’t do it. There are several reasons. We couldn’t get passed the mold smell (carpet we think). Had to leave. I think they might be fixing things slowly but they should have prioritized the carpet. They also need a sign by the road. The place is hiding behind a hotel.
- Shae (2/5): - First of all, the guy at the front desk called me twice asking when I would arrive, when I told him I was on my way he hung up on me. It was pouring rain when we arrived and the roof above the office door was broken and the rain falling off was better water pressure than the shower. No one was in the office when we got in, we said “hello?” And he angrily yelled at us. The room smelled damp and musty the whole weekend (it only rained the day we got there). The light above the table in our room didn’t work so half the room was dark the whole time. When brought up, the same guy at the front desk was rude and condescending and tried to tell us we didn’t know how to use a lightswitch. There was another staff member there who had to point out that the light was broken and had to be fixed. He said he would come back to change the lightbulb but never did. We had to go get him and trying to get him to come with us to change a lightbulb was like pulling teeth. He realized that it was the wiring that was broken, not the bulb and made an empty promise to get it fixed the next day but obviously he didn’t. This guy was pretty much the only staff member we saw for 4 days and he really soured the trip. He kept an airpod in the whole time we were checking in and out. When we left, he made no mention of our complaints so good luck to whoever stays in that room next!
- Lisa (2/5): - No signage on highway to indicate where it was which was tucked behind another inn.
Weeds and broken lamp posts.
Room- dirty, seedy, filthy. Rug had not been shampooed since God knows when. Black marks where furnishings were supposed to have been. No chairs or couches just empty space.
Not vacuumed. Threadbare towels with multiple brown spots. Windows that did not open and were covered partially with decorative mylar. Left after receiving a full refund.
- Lydie (6/5): - The room was alright but the door was so dirty, the soap had been used and the pouch that held the coffee looked like vermin had nippled the package… but the shower was clean and modern…
- Peter (10/5): - Friendly staff and very clean. Excellent value
- Mark (4/5): - I had reserved 2 rooms and only one was booked. The staff did arrange for me to get another room at the same cost which was fine but the rooms are not up to standards. Many large stains on carpet and chairs. Not nice
- peter (8/5): - good value for money and friendly humble accoms - i appreciate this option in stratford
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great no-frills motel - I came to stay for three nights while I enjoyed the theatre festival. Compared to other places to stay in the area it's definitely a less decorated place, but serves its purpose just as well. It's clean and comfortable, and if you're looking to stay nearby for the festival, it's very budget friendly. Definitely in the running if I return in the future.
- Carter (6/5): - Entering the property is rather awkward as this motel is actually behind another, which in itself, is attached to a church. There's an Indian resto on the prwmises and several picnic tables scattered throughout. Whenever we asked for something the staff was quite responsive.
- Douglas (8/5): - A good, relatively inexpensive place to stay, an easy 5 or less minute drive from downtown Stratford. There are also a number of good restaurants just down the road from the hotel.
Again my only complaint is it's not easy to find from the road, the hotel definitely needs signage on Ontario St.
- Louis (10/5): - .
- Frank (4/5): - Showed an entirely different property
- Steve and Joan (6/5): - The price was good. The beds were comfortable and the room , although outdated was clean.
The motel is difficult to find because it is hidden behind the quality inn. We found that our room was lacking a table and a couple of chairs, and there wasn’t much place to put anything down no desk either. We were disappointed also that therre was no coffee maker.
- RONALD (4/5): - THE TELEVISION DID NOT WORK AND THERE WAS A HAIR ON THE BOTTOM SHEET IN THE BED
- Jack (8/5): Stratford Festival Inn - Good bargain in price; challenge to find (part of Quality Inn complex). Comfortable stay, good sleep. No frills inn. Need to phone for office checkin. We stayed an extra night.
- Greg (8/5): - Great friendly staff
- Daniel (6/5): - Poor signage, hard to find
- Janet (10/5): - Check in was very nice and friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Quiet at night
- Kimberley (6/5): - Basic motel with dirty carpet floors. Close to Stratford festival and reasonably priced.
- omar (2/5): - The worst
- Tony (8/5): - Place was clean. Service was as expected. Good value for the money.
- Johanna (2/5): - Towels, curtains, carpet heavily stained. Room was musty smelling. We thought we were staying in the main building of the formerly named Festival Inn which now apparently has been taken over by Quality Inn. Leaving only these unrenovations sections as Festival Inn. This clarification should be noted on expedia to prevent further booking disappointments.
- john (4/5): - Although staff was friendly and very apologetic it did not change the fact that the website shows amenities that were not even there , like pool for instance. Room was over priced for state and condition.
- John (8/5): - Working hard to improve property and reputation
- Debbie (8/5): - The first room we were assigned smelled like old smoke. There was a big gap where a table and chairs should have been and the television didn't work. The staff was very responsive and immediately gave us a different room with no smokey smell and that had a table and chairs as well as the normal furniture and everything worked.
- Robert (6/5): - Bad smell in room. Attendant was off getting ice and had to wait an extended period for him to return to get access to room
- JERRY (6/5): - Rooms smell like mold. Pillow covers were yellow with age. Very out dated. The grounds were nicely kept.
- Catherine (6/5): - It is located behind the Former Festival Inn that I remembered when I lived in Stratford before. Not very clearly marked. No one in the Office which looked like it was abandoned. Called the phone number on the bottom of the reservation page and got voicemail. I had prepaid the room and was worried that I had got ripped off. I left a message on the voicemail and about 10 minutes later someone came out of the main building and checked me in.
Building looks very tired and not very well kept. Ants on the inside of the main window. Mattresses are lumpy and the carpet is very dirty.
At least it is a bed for a last minute emergency trip to care for a loved one
- Sharon (8/5): - The beds were excellent. Bathroom remodeled. Clean and quiet. Rooms dated but fine. Great parking. Staff friendly.
- Ivan (2/5): - The guy at the front desk was great tried really hard and I think he was a one man show
Definitely not worth the miney
