Guest Reviews
- Catherine (7/5): Good - Location Shared bathroom
No parking
- Cathy (10/5): Felt like home.Beautiful old mansion in excellent. position Would definitely stay here again great value for money the - Beautiful old mansion Large room. Looking out to parkland and huge trees. Huge communal areas, well equipped kitchen. Pool table. Very comfortable bed. Close to great shops and restaurants great having the host living on site for any queries Nothing. Very happy and comfortable
- Julie (8/5): Great location and lovely park opposite - Close proximity to event Bed was very slinging and pillows so hard, maybe include tissue in room
- Brad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (6/5): Pleasant - Smokey room. 🤮
- Michael (8/5): Classy stay in a well kept mansion - Lovely stay in a beautifully kept mansion. Fantastic finishes and old world charm that’s a real treat to enjoy. The door entry system takes getting used to. But not a big issue unless you forget the code
- Kt (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kt (7/5): Good -
- Keith (8/5): Very good -
- Oded (9/5): Superb -
- Barry (8/5): comfortable, convenient and stylish - the accommodation had a common room and kitchen facilities like a boarding house or hostel, no tea or coffee in the room. So next time I'll take my own provisions I liked everything
- Chris (5/5): Passable - Nice premises. Comfortable bed. Good shower. TV didn't work. Not sure why there was a camera in the corner of the room above the door!
- Mick (5/5): Less than ideal, but I understand that house keeping gets overlooked on occasion - Great location and unique old house.
Easy check inn and late arrival instructions were efficient I don't think the bedding had been changed as there was hair and other things on the sheets when I pulled the covers back. I had a sleeping bag in my car luckily, as I arrived late to the venue, and slept in my sleeping bag. Not happy!
TV didn't work, no stations tuned in.
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - Close proximity to everything.
The manager was very helpful when I had difficulty using the keypad on the front door Unsure what I could use in the kitchen regarding tea and coffee. Was unsure what belonged to long term guests.
- Chantal (8/5): Very good -
- Danielle (10/5): Comfy & quirky. Will definitely stay again. - Everything! The mansion itself is beautiful, with decor to suit. Common areas, kitchen, cafe area, pool table & extensive seating & lounges. All comes with a resident complimentary cat. Nothing to dislike, maybe some extra seating on front verandah & balcony, so you can comfortably sit outside with a view of park. There is an outdoor area off kitchen.
- Bonny (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent
- Deaarne (10/5): Beautiful mansion, I can’t wait to stay again - It’s beautiful and management are absolutely wonderful Not much to fault
- Sheila (7/5): Good - Local to train service and bus travel Happy with the overall place
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and quiet. Shared bathroom
- Grace (9/5): Fantastic Stay - Fantastic place to stay! Secure doors to bedrooms and easy check-in/check out. Fantastic location and a very cool building overall! It's definitely worth the price! We will 100% be coming back to stay!
- Kylie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clint (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glenn (9/5): Superb -
- Kelly (6/5): Spooky but cool!, 👍😎 - We were a little weirded out of at first as it definitely has its own personality but we warmed up too it pretty quickly, this place is not just a bed, it's a bit of an experience, I was a tiny bit spooked at first but in the end it just added to the charm! I like the quirky mysterious nature of this place and I'd definitely stay again! No air con, 😑, and the parking situation super sucks, there is very little available parking making it stressful trying to get all your bags inside, plus we were horrified to come out in the morning and found our car covered from one end to the other in nasty bat poo
- Zackary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cathleen (8/5): Very good - Stayed over a weekend in the apartment - more spacious than expected. Convenient location. The room faced the street, but didn’t find the noise an issue even with a broken window pane and a pub nearby. Although I didn’t see the staff in person, they were very responsive and helpful with the questions I had. I know there were other people staying in the house, but we didn’t see anyone. Would stay again. No parking on site and with the pub on the corner it was difficult to find a park on the street when we returned in the evening. Step down into the bathroom was not an issue, but something to be aware of.
- Virginia (9/5): A wonderful stay at a truly beautiful, old mansion. - It is a beautiful, old historic building. It was once owned by my husband’s great, great grandfather, George Edward Redman when it was known as Royston. He owned and managed Redman’s Cordials which later became NSW Cordials. There are still some minor renovations going on. It is a gem.
- Suraya (9/5): Superb -
- Dmitrii (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sraboni (1/5): Disgusting. - Nothing at all. Their room bed sheets utensils everything are dirty…spider web everywhere.shared bathroom one bathroom for 5 rooms.its like one bathroom for 12 people…no chance you will get a chance to use it.
- Michelle (7/5): Good - Short distance to the foreshore and heart of Newcastle.
Easy arrival and access to room.
Access to full kitchen facilities if needed. I felt that the property could be a bit cleaner overall especially when people are using a shared bathroom however I understand this is difficult. The bed linen etc was good and the bed comfortable however there was some rubbish in the side of one of the arm chairs and a couple of old grapes on the floor so I didn’t feel it had been thoroughly cleaned.
- Gerard (10/5): Exceptional - Every thing
- Lydia (8/5): Very good -
- Joy (7/5): Good - Quiet and the garden bedsheets, there a few spider webs on the ceiling and we saw spiders crawling around.
- Dea’arne (10/5): Beautiful room, very private and nice facilities - Beautiful
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Large shared living space was great.
Excellent location Bunk beds were very noisy
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Sheila (7/5): Good -
- Brad (10/5): Eddie was attentive and responded to all requests. Nothing was an issue. - Awesome place to stay Love it all
- Norman (8/5): Very good -
- Aida (10/5): Exceptional -
- Troy (8/5): Definitely one of the better options at this price & location - A stunning heritage house with so many beautiful aspects, huge bay windows, super high ceilings & timber & tile floors of the period. So much room & a very good price. Modern bathrooms & pin code access. Great communication from the staff, although I never got to meet anyone, it wasn't an issue as there's a number to call if you need to (which I didn't as everything ran smoothly & any minor queries were responded to promptly). The toiletries supplied (body wash & shampoo) seemed considered (natural/ethical/ pleasant smelling). No complaints, I mustn't have read the details well before booking & hadn't realised it was a shared bathroom situation but it was fine, nice bathrooms & there are more than one
- Frank (9/5): Superb - Central location. Close to public transport. Walking distance to cafes , restaurants and pubs Room does require some maintenance.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Jade (7/5): Mr Smith - The garden and fountain were well kept, and the venue was clean There are no windows in the room, and the party outside my room kept my family up until the late hours.
- Enkhtushig (8/5): Very good -
- David (9/5): Superb - Lovely furnished rooms and very clean amenities Only stayed one night should have stayed more
- Barbara (9/5): Very pleasantly surprised. The house is charming. Very well situated, easy to drive or train stat. - Breakfast was not included, but I had a fridge, microwave, T/coffee & milk. Plus appropriate crockery and cutlery. Please put a lock on the bathroom door.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Nice place
- Cherrie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tovio (7/5): Good -
- Frank (9/5): Already looking at booking again. - Centrallocation. Walking distance to restaurants, cafes and pubs. Comfirtable and quiet. Shared amenities ie kitchen and bathroom clean at all times.
- Hariet (10/5): Exceptional - Great vibes all round. Very clean, lovely facilities — super friendly staff
- Lee (9/5): Superb - Booking was easy, host was great and checked in with us to make sure we had settled in ok. Location was perfect and walking distance to plenty of cafes and pubs with live music and shopping centre and beaches are a short drive away.
Facilities were good for long stays as well as short The addition of a vending machine was a great idea.
Queen Bed was comfortable with fresh white linen and towels provided.
We also had tea and coffee facilities and a small bar fridge in the room
Plenty of seating for larger groups to have a comfortable stay and some games and a pool table to keep you entertained
WIFI was also included
11am check out was a major bonus The on street parking was very limited during our stay and we ended up having to park down the street
The bunk bed in Room 4 needs tightening as it creaked every time someone moved
The downstairs bathroom had a step up shower with a curtain but nothing to keep the water contained so the floor did get very wet from showers There was a mat provided but it was sodden after the first use but they did provide a floor squeegee to help clean up
- Brilly72 (9/5): Superb - Beautiful house. Perfect location Smelt a little funny. Probably just because windows closed up in winter
- Madaline (8/5): Very good - A great place to stay for small groups and couples! Gorgeous building with so much character and amazing facilities, and only a short walk to everything you need on Beaumont street. I definitely recommend staying here :)
- Matthew (9/5): Great place to stay - The property was a fantastic place to stay for a night out in Hamilton and was so easy to get into Newcastle. Easy self check in and was quiet and comfortable. Nothing
- Dale (7/5): Good - Absolutely loved the house. It was amazing. Pool table and piano. Won a meat tray at the local and had a wonderful cook up in the morning. Bunk beds were noisy every turn and movement caused noise. Was a night mare for the 2 nights.
Shower down stairs was dangerous for the children as it was a step up ..never seen a shower like it before .
- Andrew (9/5): I’ll be back when in Newcastle next. - It’s old world charm and it just felt special being there.
Ease, modern and secure access.
Across from the park of old Moreton Bay fig trees. Just nice. Shared bathroom but you know, it was clean and all amenities there.
- Forbes (8/5): Very good - It was a great stay, we would definitely go back again. The bathroom was a little weird (raised shower meant there was a lot of water below the toilet) but for a short stay, it was absolutely fine for us. The mansion is a really beautiful building with really nice common areas and there was a fire at night which was wonderful to come home too. Location was great. Bathroom: (raised shower meant there was a lot of water below the toilet)
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (5/5): Very convenient stylish boutique hotel - The size of the room was great the style and ambiance of the building was great and the location was great I felt the bathrooms were poor- They really need to sort out ensuites for each room. A retrofit capsule style self contained ensuite should fit into the larger rooms
- Tina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jess (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Very happy with the beautiful house and room - Style and location, very quiet The shower on the ground floor was a little strange and maybe dangerous if you fell or were unsteady.
- Corrine (9/5): Superb - Great old home. Well equipped. The shower design downstairs. It flooded the toilet area.
- Vanessa (10/5): Easy check-in. Very clean. Great location. - The location was great for a night out in Hamilton.
- Zoe (8/5): Very good -
- Trevor (7/5): I did think I might have liked a longer stay. - Very historic building, brought back thoughts of gentler times. The shared bathroom was combined with the toilet.
- Elica (10/5): Exceptional - The building
- Christina (10/5): Great - Beautiful property, very comfortable. Easy self check in.
