Guest Reviews
- Sally (10/5): - The baked bread was delicious, as was the endless supply of snacks! Beautiful set up, awesome massage chairs, great little backyard and so much character. We’d be back in a heartbeat
- ERNESTINA (10/5): -
- Melea (10/5): A delightful night in a sleepy town. - The hosts were very kind and thoughtful, breakfast was amazing, everything exceeded expectations and we can’t wait to go back. Nothing.
- Fernandez (10/5): A hidden gem. - Exceptional breakfast. Exceeded our expectations. My wife is a Ceoliac so there was Gluten free breakfast and extras in the fridge as well. Nothing.
- Yoon (9/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): Perfect quiet overnight stop - We did an overnight on the way to a family wedding. It was fabulous. Very clean and everything we needed for an overnight stop. Baked bread was welcome after a long drive too.
- Bridgette (10/5): Home Away from Home! - We love staying here.
From the hosts to the ambience to the treats to the location!
I cannot say enough positive things about staying here. We do travel only with adults and teenagers - 6 of us usually so its perfect for us.
Sleeping configuration: Main bedroom with ensuite. Large lounge area with a massive king bed and an ensuite/main bathroom just off to the side and two beautiful day bed style lounges that the host will make up if needed for 2 others to sleep - very comfy and very big.
- Bridgette (10/5): Homely, welcoming, sophisticated and comfortable! - We have become regulars. The accommodation and service is 5 stars. From the decor to the linen - we feel very welcome and it is very homely. Easy parking, very secure and very quiet. Gorgeous little backyard.
Fresh bread baking when you enter, the fire place on, sooo many goodies in the fridge & on the bench. There is every single thing you could need in this little treasure from hygiene products to wine glasses to mozzie spray!
We have family and friends in SWR, Crescent Head and Kempsey - so staying here always feels like we have easy access to all areas in the region. Our hosts are accommodating and fair. I think we have found our new home away from home when visiting our home town. Our family consists of adult children and teenagers, so we really enjoy the ambience.
Smithtown pub is just around the corner and the food is very good! We love the chicken and brisket share plate, the burgers, ribs and tacos - exceptional for 'pub food'.
- Solène (10/5): - Beautifully furnished, confortable, quirky, cosy and full of history. Everything you can need and more is provided by the beautiful host Cheryl and her partner. Bistrot around the corner is great for dinner.
- Stewart (10/5): A relaxing and peaceful stay - It was really well presented with great bedding and furniture. It was fully stocked with snacks and fresh bread upon arrival which was fantastic. Not a single thing
- Solène (10/5): We will be back! - The place is beautiful, confortable with lots of charm. Cheryl is an amazing host who takes hospitality to the next level. Conveniently located near the river and a very delicious bistrot. Nothing
- Janette (9/5): - Lovely building full of character. Very well stocked with goodies. Just that the one bedroom was not private from living area.
- Graeme (9/5): -
- Megan (10/5): - Walking in and smelling the fresh bread baking away that had only minutes left of cooking when we arrived, the room was nice when we walked in with the a/c going, all beds were so comfortable. Kids loved playing chess and the snack bowl with there favorite snack oreos. Communication was amazing and easy with the host. Unfortunately we were only there for a quick one night, but we will be returning for a longer stay in the near future. That we couldn't stay longer.
- YAO (10/5): - 非常满意!很贴心!
- Linda (10/5): - Everything including the owner /host,
It's the most accommodating place I have stayed at and I'd book it over and over again , for my family visits
- PAUL (9/5): Very comfortable ...like being at home . - Very generous supplies of breakfast and other food supplies
- kelly (10/5): -
- Kate Sheridan (10/5): So beautiful and unique - Such a beautiful and unique location! Everything was perfect and so well thought out. We couldn't get the TV in the 2nd bedroom to work properly but it's not a deal breaker!
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional in every way. Thank you! - Exceptional in every respect Nothing
- Crista (10/5): - Amazing! Everything was absolutely perfect.
- Carmen (10/5): Amazing place to stay, really welcoming and well kitted out. - The Post Office was stocked with amazing snacks and a freshly baked bread Cheryl also managed to get us in early, which was appreciated. Walking into to the ambiance fireplace, clues music and freshly baked bread made the drive worthwhile. The highlight for my kids was the massage chair :) I'm not a fan of rain-head showers, very hard to wash long hair after beach due to lack of water pressure. Everything else was exceptional.
- Aaron (10/5): The post office was the best. My family loved it and it was very comfy and exceeded our expectaions. - The range of options was awesome for brekkie. Abundant snacks. The place was fantastic. The place is definately worth it to stay and would stay again in the future. All the little extras, are also great.
- Amy (10/5): -
- Sultana (10/5): - It's a very well organized & nicely decorated accommodation.
- Amol (10/5): -
- Aaron (10/5): Charming character - Full of character as the building retains many original features Nothing
- Nicola (9/5): -
- Robert (10/5): -
- Ian (9/5): - Very clean.
Everything necessary was there.
Great location.
- Ian (10/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Quirky quiet quality accomodation. - This is a cracker of a place. It's a quirky converted Post Office. The front counter of the post office was incorporated into the kitchen area. Two bathrooms. Two huge beds. A huge telly. Large comfy lounges & air con. Ceiling fans. Very quiet. Snacks everywhere. We have family in the area and in future we won't be staying anywhere else when we visit. Everything was perfect.
- Clare (10/5): Beautiful Accomadation with lots of care and thought for guests - The property itself is amazing - everything thought about- lots of lovely extras - including fresh baked bread. Clean great location it’s an amazing place - we loved it and can’t wait to go back Nothing at all
- Jann (10/5): A slice of quiet luxury in a beautifully presented former village post office. - The location was perfect, close to the river and 200 metres from the local hotel which serves excellent meals. The host provided lots of choice for breakfast and small treats. We were greeted with a loaf of freshly made bread and a complementary bottle of Prosecco. This was our third stay at this property and we'll go back. The hosts rightly describe Smithtown as a humble place and it's good to be aware of this in case you're after a faster-paced locale. However It is a good central hub for local day and half-day trips.
- David (10/5): Highly recommend this place and you will not be disappointed in staying here. - Great location. Very comfortable, clean and thoughtful touches from the owner made it like a home away from home. Nothing
- Marybie (10/5): Perfect! - We loved absolutely everything, it was beautiful, very clean and the little extras were amazing. The freshly baked bread on arrival was a fabulous surprise 10/10, one of the best accommodation we’ve ever stayed at 😃 we will definitely stay again!
- Colette (10/5): - Little slice of history which was lovely, clean, comfortable and well stocked including a few treats. We would happily stay again. Thankyou Cheryl.
- Lia (10/5): Probably one of the better bookings I’ve made. 10 out of 10 for Chez and Kevin and their hospitality - Firstly the fact that in its past it was a post office with the old service counter now being used as the kitchen bench, so very cool. Everything you could think of was provided and upon arrival the host had a delicious freshly baked loaf of bread waiting for us….like who does that lol. So very generous. Just one thing for our group though the two lounges substitute as day beds, perfect for teenagers or younger kids, maybe not so good for elderly folk which our group consisted. However, the accommodation is perfect for two couples or a family with up to four kids with everyone having somewhere comfortable to sleep.
- Rachel (10/5): Great stay, lovely host, can’t say enough about it - Very well kept and so welcoming - amazing little extras like breakfast, snacks etc
- Peter (10/5): A perfect Oasis - This was our second stay in this property, and it was as good as our last visit. Beautifully maintained, catering for all of our family, a well stocked fridge, the smell of baking bread flowed through the kitchen. The massage chair again got a workout, and a fantastic supper of cheese and biscuits after a wonderful meal at the Riverside Hotel just around the corner. The kids can’t wait to be back again( and they aren’t the only ones)
- Lisa-maree (10/5): -
- Gregory (10/5): - Attention to detail, snacks, fresh bread, the rooms Nothing it was brilliantly
- Albert (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Excellent stay. ,very clean, warm and inviting -
- Lucy (10/5): All in all perfect, able to have a late check out as well which meant we could enjoy for longer! - Everything was perfect. We have been on the road for 3 weeks travelling from UK and around Oz. This felt like home from home, we were able to relax and watch TV on chill. Place smelt of bread on arrival with a fresh loaf cooking for us and lots of nibbles and breakfast. Teenage daughter had the separate room and en-suite which she loved Husband said the bed was a bit soft for him, it is all personal choice.. I found it very comfy!

- Charmaine (10/5): -

- Yi-chich (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is excellent.
- Ruth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (10/5): Old Post Office Really Delights - This place and its owners were nothing short of Amazing. We arrived to a warm (electric) fire lit room with the smell of fresh baked bread...at 9pm the first night. The Old Post office has kept its old world charm with modern facilities and games for the kids Nothing it was the best place we've stayed in...ever...
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Damien (10/5): Beautiful place - Beautiful place. The massage chair was very popular. Freshly baked bread. Warm and inviting place was a delight after a long drive.

The kids were excited by the chess, massage chair and the treats. The hotel across the road was great for dinner. Would be a great place to stay for a few nights.
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb - Ambiance. The weather.

Comfortable beds, including the day beds in the lounge. Kids loved the massage chair after a long day in the car. Close to good pub for dinner.
- Piergiorgio (10/5): The best stay in the area! TOP - Very original and with love to detail - travelling back in time. Top breakfast and treats (not only the children loved them 😉) plus delicious homemade bread.
- Marie-louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Freshly baked bread and well stocked fridge and pantry
- Catherine (10/5): Totally unique but felt like home - The house was unique, extremely clean and comfortable. Our lovely host Jessie had also left a loaf of bread cooking in the bread maker for us. There was also an extensive amount of other food and snacks left for us.
The beds and furniture were very comfortable and there were also extras like fishing gear left for us to use.
We went to the local pub for dinner. The food was great and the band kept us entertained.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jessie’s place and would be happy to stay again 😊 Nothing
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional - What a nice surprise baked bread on arrival. Lovely decor and very comfortable. Cheryl is a great host with good communication. Cheryl has thought of everything - with snacks coffee and lot of little touches. We only sent one night here however could have stay for a week.
- Anthea (9/5): Comfortable and relaxing stay. Great travel stop over for families - We loved all the extra details at the old Post Office. The massage chair and fresh bread were such nice surprises to arrive to! Beautifully furnished and comfortable beds. We would love to stay here again in the future.
- Roland (10/5): Unique property and excellent hosts - The place is not only unique and tastefully furnished, we were welcomed with freshly baking bread, a bottle of chilled wine, and plenty of goodies in general. The hosts thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and trouble free.
- Karen (10/5): Luxury captured in time - Cheryl & Kev have created a special time in history with the Smithtown Post Office stay. We arrived later than planned & Cheryl had put the lights on, background music and the fireplace. We walked in to the smells of freshly baked bread just about cooked in the bread machine. The fridge was stocked with fresh fruit, cheese, bikkies and a bottle of wine. We had the choice of toast, cereals & fruit for breakfast with tea & coffee.
Hosts had thought of everything for every space you might need or want & the outside dining area, beautiful.
They have maintained the essence & history of the post office while providing luxurious facilities. Highly recommend & would stay again & longer!

The extra touches, such as the extensive breakfast, freshly baked bread and things to make the stay more enjoyable, really set this place apart. Our hosts were lovely and very helpful. Cheryl was super attentive and hospitable to make sure we were comfortable and looked after. We even got a home baked bread scheduled to be ready when we arrived and some fruits, drinks in the fridge. The booklet on the table contained all the info you need such as places to eat, things to see and do around the area. The dedication and commitment of the hosts were felt everywhere.
This has been the best hospitaility we received and shall definitely return again if we're in the area! Everything was great that we were even thinking how nice it would be to have one more night.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -

Beds are comfortable as is the lounge area. Great bbq in the garden and only 20 minutes drive away from South West Rocks. Smithtown is a friendly quiet town and we had a great stay here. N/A

It is very well maintained, clean and has everything you need just like home. Nothing to dislike.
- Rebecca (10/5): ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - Absolutely everything was amazing.. This place was stunning. Communication with the host Cheryl, she was fantastic. There was freshly baked bread waiting for us in the bread maker. The fridge was full of goodies such as milk, juice, butter, jams, avocados and biscuits etc, which was so good, not having to go and find a shop after a full day of travel. Breakfast supplied and coffee machine. Everything was spotless, including cutlery and plates etc. Furniture was beautiful and even a massage chair. Beds comfortable. Fishing rods available for use. There was an outdoor BBQ area and beautiful garden. Pub is about 100m away for a nice meal by the river. Hat Head is about a 15-20min drive away. Would 1000% recommend this property. LOVED IT ALL
Definitly need more than 1 night here to enjoy it properly.
- Joanna (10/5): Amazing property, great host, great price! - Amazing atmospheric property. Cheryl was so prompt with all the instructions and had heaps of goodies (including freshly baked bread!) for us on arrival. Lovely quiet town only 10-15min to beach or bigger shops Nothing! It was amazing. I wish we had more than one night there
- Megan (10/5): Unexpected luxury - Oh my gosh what an unexpectedly gorgeous stay. The freshly baked bread and the smell it made as we walked in, the gorgeous touches on every room, the styling to match the heritage of the building. Absolutely wonderful nothing!
- Bell (10/5): Exceeded expectations ! - The property is so unique and set up beautifully. Very clean and comfortable and the hosts made us feel so welcome. It felt very warm and the facilities were amazing. Such a cute little set up in a small town. Definitely had everything we hoped for and more! - Tanya (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (10/5): A fabulous stay in an historic building, wish we could have stayed longer. - Wow, what a great property! We used it as a halfway stop over between the Gold Coast and Sydney and right from making the booking, the service was excellent. Cheryl is a great host, keeping in touch with us prior to our stay, checking what bedding configuration we needed and providing the key lock box code before we arrived. The property was spotlessly clean and the breakfast supplies included a freshly baked loaf of bread waiting for us in the bread maker, fresh fruit (bananas, nectarines, blue berries and tomatoes), snacks (chips, chocolate, mints, cookies and Tims Tams!), plus milk, juice and yogurt, coffee pods, fancy coffee sachets and a variety or teas. I hope I haven't left anything out, it all exceeded our expectations, that's for sure. The beds are soft and comfortable and there is even a massage chair in the loungeroom and a cute electric fireplace that was lit for our arrival. The lounge area was super comfortable with large sofas and a big screen tv.
We walked around the corner to the local pub and had a very nice dinner in their bistro, it is literally a 2 minute walk, but also very quiet, there was no noise from the small pub.
We would definitely stay at this property again if we are ever up that way in the future.
Thanks very much to "Chez and Kev" ! Nothing, it was all perfect.
- Green (10/5): Amazing historical, beautifully decorated, comfortable , clean home away from home. - Cheryl went above expectations providing an assortment of delicious breakfast alternatives, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, milk, juices, snacks & freshy baked bread & spreads.
- Peter (10/5): Luxury on steroids, in the middle of nowhere - An absolute gem of a place, our whole family was blown away with what this place had to offer. From the freshly cooked bread on arrival, the massage chair got a workout from our weary driver, the colouring book and pencils that the girls used, down to the bbq area outside,, this place has everything plus more. Staying in an old Post Office is definitely on our cards next time we are passing.
- Anthony (10/5): Amazing and Unique - Excellent Breakfast, The fresh bread was amazing and above our expectations on arrival. Well done.

Great vibe, well stocked with goodies and so love - Fabulous stay in a quiet riverside town and walking distance to the pub. Private lock box entry and well stocked. Exceptionally clean and well presented and a beautiful old building that the owners have lovingly maintained. I loved it all and would be happy to come back.

- Stephen (9/5): Exceptional value and hospitality - This stay was simply perfect for our needs. The thought and detail that had gone into preparing for our stay was impeccable. We had three days visiting the area, dining out and in.
Imagine you were at home, knowing where everything is found and readily available, and this is the Post Office. The flowers/garden out the back and the general amenity of the facility would be difficult to beat
The hosts clearly cares about their guests and there is a real pride in all that is provided. A property which leaves you wanting for little. The fact that I can't complain about anything!
