Guest Reviews
- Adam (7/5): Great house, pretty crappy managing agents. - The house was great, exactly as advertised. Was a very relaxing getaway. I left the place exactly as I found it, but as far as I? know they haven't even sent the cleaner yet and are still holding a security deposit, really not good enough that I still have money being held.

- Rebecca (9/5): A peaceful & relaxing getaway - would stay again! - The property was amazing! We had a 3 night stay & it was exactly what we were after. Secluded and well set up. There were 4 of us staying there and we had no troubles with the house being completely off grid. There was enough firewood to sit by the fire pit for a couple of hours for 2 of our nights. The giant speaker downstairs was greatly appreciated! The only thing we missed was a large knife to cut vegetables - apart from that the house was exceptionally stocked with what we needed.
- Corey (10/5): Thank you for sharing your house with us - Great location, great facilities and peace and quiet Gardens, overgrown grass wasn’t mowed cobwebs, wasp nests on balconies and windows weren’t cleaned and no fire wood suppled as mentioned in black welcoming book
- Anonymous (4/5): Beautiful location but disappointing stay - The location was beautiful and peaceful. The house itself is also a piece of art! There is a nice fire pit outside to use and surprisingly the wifi was super quick! The house also had most necessities in it. The house is situated near the mountain bike trails and also many surrounding national parks. The stars at night were brilliant! Unfortunately the whole process of booking and our stay was otherwise disappointing. Firstly there must be a discrepancy between the booking.com ad and the agency site as I had opted in to the ‘pay later’ option, however I quickly got a message from the property saying I needed to pay the whole amount up-front. We also assumed that firewood would be included in the price we paid, however after calling and asking we got a vague answer that there ‘might’ be firewood there and that we needed to opt-in for this during the booking process, although there was no option for this displayed on the website.
We stayed for 2 nights, and during the second night the power was shutting on and off. It turned off at 9pm and we were hopeful it would turn back on, however it did not. There is an emergency number provided however there is no signal at the property and no satellite phone is provided, so essentially it was useless. We would’ve had to drive the 30mins back into town to even try to call and get it sorted, and by this time it was too late. It was a very cold night for us, and the water had also stopped working. We ended up heading into town early the next morning and calling the number / popping into the agency handling the property. We were met with ‘that’s just what happens with off grid properties’, however one of my friends family homes is off grid and they have never experienced these issues. Ultimately you shouldn’t be advertising this house for 7 people if the battery unit and generator can’t support this. We had also been out during the days and only used electricity in the evenings.
Also there is a $306.80 cleaning fee associated with the booking. However you are advised to take your rubbish with you when you leave and put it in the local park bins?? Is this not why we pay a cleaning fee so we aren’t left with this responsibility? Although the interior of the house was clean, the exterior could definitely do with some work - there was cob webs everywhere!
- Wayne (9/5): absolutely loved the location & the facilities but cleaners employed by property owner could do a better job prior t - Great location with fantastic panoramic views in a unique style property The previous occupants must have had small children as there were dirty hand prints on all of the Windows. in my opinion the cleaners could have done a better job prior to our arrival. there was also no firewood provided for the fire pit but this was a very minor issue as we brought our own
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (9/5): Rural relaxation and river fun, perfect for couples or active families - We had a lovely relaxing stay in the Bindera Container House. It's perfect for couples or families. The views were simply stunning. The house had everything you need including a well stocked pantry/fridge with essentials. We had changeable weather while we were there, so briefly used both the gas fireplace and the fans, but didn't need the air con as the breeze was enough to cool down both up & downstairs.
We used the fire pit a couple of times - a bag of wood and fire lighters were provided but limited kindling/smaller sticks, so take some along as well as extra wood if you plan to light the fire a few times.
There is river access at the property for a quick dip, and public access a of k's away at the Cove, but for a day on the river, suggest heading to The Steps campground and paying the $5pp day access - it was well worth it! The location on google maps was wrong and the house can't be see as you drive along the road, so we spent some time confused and drove past the house, but found it once we turned around. I have updated googlemaps so it should be fine now. Just look for the black & white cow letterbox.
Guests should be aware that it's quite a drive along a single lane dirt road so if you're after a place close to town, this isn't it. If you're after rural peacefulness with the sounds of the river - you're in the right spot.
