Guest Reviews
- bell (10/5): Peace and quite privacy and so relaxed - The room and facilities were spotless, five star ..the property was a comfortable place to be, JAN the owner has a great passion for animals and she has many rescued pets, which she can’t seem to send back. Heart of gold. It’s a real country atmosphere ,so don’t expect Eden but you feel as if you are into a place where time stands still . You can feel and see by the animals that they are loved and cared for. Well fed and happy. Not far to Renmark which has a huge shopping centre and loads of restaurants and take aways ..if you want to get away from it all, then this is the place. I needed a break, and felt totally renewed when I left ..just relaxing , was great thank you Jan I liked everything,it what you make of it …you see stars or bars ..

- Maxine (8/5): Overall it was lovely. - Peaceful, no light pollution & comfy. We would prefer much larger towels.
The sofa was sunken, so we sat on the cushions on the couch.

- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (9/5): Great location for a short stay in the Riverland. - Very clean and tidy, comfy bed and great location, Jan was very friendly and welcoming. Like to have hot plates available for cooking (I know there was the bbq option), also DVD player needs replacement.

- John (7/5): Good -
- Nancy (9/5): Thankyou - It was comfortable and trouble free.
- Jenny (9/5): Great space especially when travelling with dogs - The accomodation was clean, comfortable and well suited for me and my dogs
- Karl (5/5): A nice stay location but not up to the standard / quality we are regularly use to - We chose the location to suit proximity to Paringa and Renmark which met our requirements and being dog friendly if we decided to bring our pets, which we decided later not to do Sofa bed / lounge was uncomfortable as cushioning has worn and is compressed to the point it doesn't support the weight of a person resulting in leg contact with frame - Water leaked onto the sofa from air conditioner
- Victor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hodgklns (10/5): Feeling refreshed after a delightful change of scene. - The quirky vibe. Jans tastful boho decor, unique garden, love of animals both rescue and farmyard. Being invited to share with our host her piece of paradise. Liked it all
- Pamela (10/5): pleasant and solitary - seclusion towels could be upgraded
- Phil (8/5): Great & the puppy loved it!! - Quiet, peaceful. Back to nature. Great location. BBQ was excellent. Great ambiance A bit dusty
- Joanne (9/5): Beautiful, relaxing stay. -
- Lucy (8/5): Beautiful hideaway -
- Lauren (7/5): Good - Lovely tranquil accommodation set back in a charming property. The facilities are well maintained, and even though I did not bring my dog this trip, next visit I definitely will be! The secured courtyard at the back is perfect! The bed was extremely uncomfortable and hard. I had very little sleep both nights and was in quite a lot of pain in the mornings.
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Dennis (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (8/5): Very good - The Rivershack was cute, pet friendly and away from town. Enclosed yard for the dogs was a good size and shower was great. A relaxing stay, thanks Jan Not so much didn't like, but sofa was a little uncomfortable and the DVDs were hit and miss as to whether they worked or not. Got half way through 2 before they stopped working. Netflix would have been great
- Stephanie (9/5): Pet friendly serenity - Jan greeted us and introduced herself on our arrival. Property was clean, and the dog bowls throughout made it extra welcoming for our blue heeler that tagged along with us.
Absolutely loved the outdoor spaces to enjoy, the serenity was just what we needed. Beautiful property, so refreshing. Even our boy Sampson was relaxed.
Short drive to the river and local shops/pubs.
Overall, amazing place to stay. Thank you for having us!
- Taylor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jamie (10/5): Overall an amazingly homely place - Absolutely beautiful place with the friendliest staff A little but hard to find especially at night time
- Jean (5/5): Too cold and dark to be enjoyable - We were able to stay with our dog Very cold
Very dark
- Hayley (9/5): Loved it & so far in our travels this was the most relaxed our dog has been. He loved the yard. - Despite being right next to owners residence it was very private.
Our dog had yard out the back which he ADORED sniffing about in (checking previous dogs reviews). Beautiful surroundings with a short walkable and 4wdrivable path down to the river.
Awesome tree lined driveway that took us past owners lovely horses. Awesome courtyard for outdoor chilling. Awesome inside decor. I was just a little anxious about where we were allowed to venture on the property but I could have easily contacted the number provided for questions. I think for the more introverted of us a little map in the room would have been fantastic 😊
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Location, peace and quiet, clean. Good exercise area for our dog.
Didn't get a chance to use outdoor area and facilities because of weather and time of year, but that looked really good. Sadly the lounge had seen better days.
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judy (9/5): Lovely location, helpful host and clean facilities. - Great location on a farm/orchard with the cutest animals. Relaxing, convenient location for what I like to do, outdoorsy activities and lots of walking/hiking. I had everything I needed so no complaints.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Jean (9/5): Superb -
- Narelle (8/5): Very good - Nice and clean. Very pet friendly. The couch was uncomfortable
- Jesper (8/5): Very good -
- Dee (9/5): Wonderful, pet friendly accommodation. Great for an overnight stay or for a week’s holiday. - Everything was so comfortable and clean. Great location and lovely owner. Very comfortable bed.
Really lovely to have a horse and sheep on the property. The river is a quick walk. Excellent BBQ area.
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hutchesson (8/5): Very good - Great spot needs a coffee pod machine.
- Sharon (7/5): Pleasant enough & good to be able to take your dog. - Location was gr8 had all the facilities you could want. Easy access to other tourist attractions & river. Had a nice relaxing rustic appeal. Owners dogs were noisy the first day due to having our dog with us. The bed & pull out lounge were very uncomfortable & need upgrading. Every thing else was lovely.
- Ryan (9/5): Good value and quiet -
- Kimberley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Artie (10/5): An enjoyable stay with our 2 mini dachshunds! - I really liked the true aussie country farmstay experience! Jan, the host, is very friendly and accomodating! During the booking, we requested to have an early check-in (if it is convenient for them) and Jan was very willing to assist us with it, in which we were very grateful. We loved that it was a dog friendly chalet and there was a nice sized backyard for our 2 doggies to roam around. This was the first time our dogs had been on a long trip out of Adelaide and being able to have them stayed with us in this chalet was enjoyable to say the least! We do have to apologise for some unnecessary barking from them along the way! If we return to Renmark next year, we will definitely stay in Rivershack again! Nothing I don't like! Perhaps for those pet owners who tend to sleep with their dog/s in their bed, this could be a bit restricted as no dogs are allowed on bed and couch. Fortunately our dogs are not allowed on sofa at home unless invited and crated trained. Therefore this has not been an issue for us.
- Ruth (10/5): Best pet friendly accommodation we’ve stayed in travelling from Perth to Canberra. Would even stay there without a pet. - A beautiful retreat, very relaxing. Ambience, spacious well appointed room. Exceptionally pet friendly. Terrific host
- Vonkenna (7/5): Stayed overnight. Entirely satisfied. Perhaps I shall return one day and bring the dog. - I brought no pet, but the pet facilities seemed superb and well considered. Although close to the river, river access is via a very rough and steep track.
- Blaise (10/5): Exceptional - I loved Rivershack. The quiet, the surrounds, the room... exceptional. Jan was friendly and welcoming. The lovely touches like a bowl of fresh water waiting in the room for my dog, wow! I wish I could have stayed longer. I found no fault at Rivershack.
- Angie (9/5): Superb - Great little spot just slightly off the beaten track. Well set up for pets, spotlessly clean and Jan is a great host. Highly recommend All good
- Larissa (9/5): The perfect place to take your furry friend for a little staycation - Rivershack was the perfect mini break with our new dog. Jan was friendly and helpful and lovely to have a chat with whenever we saw her on the property. The chalet was very clean, the bed was comfy, the shower pressure was fine and the kitchen equipped with the basic amenities one would expect. Loved that there was a full bottle of spring water on a stand so we didn't need to buy any ourselves. For what we paid and the experience we had, there's not much to fault. Maybe just a couple more coat hangers ;)
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Tranquil location, friendly host and great amenities. Zero
- Nicole (8/5): Very relaxing - Very quiet with a lovely garden. Able to sit outside and have a BBQ or read and relax. The room was very comfortable with a good bed and pillows. The kitchen was well-equipped as was the bathroom
Very enjoyable stay Everything was great. It's out of town so as long as you have a car its not a problem
- Tanya (10/5): Enjoyable - Relaxing and quiet
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Jacinta (8/5): Very good -
- Hilary (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable, pleasant surroundings, lovely garden. Jan was very welcoming. Quiet and peaceful. Everything was great.
- Di (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the stay so much. This has been the most relaxing trip we've taken so far this year. The fact that we can travel with our two large dogs was a big bonus. The place was lovely and you can tell that Jan cares about this place and her customers.
- Richard (10/5): Lovely stay, clean, spacious and quality fittings - It is a fair way off of the road and is part of a working farm property.
It was tasteful and clean and built in a Converted ( I Think) old stone building which kept very cool
There is a LOVELY self contained, artificial turf, yard for your pet to exercise and toilet The only concern i had was that the carport was a liitle norrow and had ivy growing on the side which needed a trim
- Christine (9/5): Superb -
- Lucinda (9/5): Superb -
- Kathryn (10/5): Good value for money. - We liked the quietness. That allowed our dog to settle and not park.
- Peter (8/5): Comfortable room with kitchen in farming district - Quiet location. Room was comfortable with own kitchen. Owners did not engage with us.
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - They were lovely and had an issue later in the day.
Fixed it straight away.
Could not fault them in any way.
Nice and private.
- Emma (9/5): Superb - This was a great find. Very comfortable with everything you need. Great value for money.
- Sandy (7/5): Good -
- David (8/5): 2 nights away with a dog - That it was on a farm ..and it was quiet and staff were exellent That the river was a bit too far away and the track is not really good for someone with bad knees too walk down but thats ok because there is a lookout and a little bit better track you can drive down that you dont need a 4WD and it was a 15 min drive away from the shack which gave use somthing to do for the day.
Was a great short break from the big smoke
- Caila (7/5): Good - we didn’t get breakfast??
- John (10/5): Exceptional - After crossing the boarder and having our fruit taken from us, as soon as we got there we felt instantly relaxed.
- Cathy (8/5): Lovely quiet, clean place on the river - Quiet, dog friendly, owner welcoming and friendly Kitchen small
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jen (8/5): Great stay in a quirky cabin. - Lovely accommodation if you like things a little quirky. Everything that was needed was supplied, including plentiful supply of coffee, tea & condiments for breakfast. Clean, comfortable & great welcome by owner. Just a little too far away from town. Property was however, just beautiful.
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly and spacious
Pet friendly
- Sandra (9/5): Superb -
- Denise (9/5): Lovely country stay with manager always accommodating - Although very squeezy caravan type accommodation the deck was surpurb views excellent and very private and quiet sofa bed not comfy
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect quiet abode, dog loved it too
- Kelly (10/5): Excellent Dog friendly accomodation. Would recommend for anyone with dogs to stay here. - The property was so lovely and I felt right at home as soon as we got there.
My dog loved the freedom to walk around and they had a great backyard enclosed area for her to do her toilets and have a little play.
Jan was accomodating, welcoming and all round friendly person which made us love this place even more.
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laure (8/5): Very good - Walking on The property
The quirky decoration and the old bar Conversation on the phone , a bit abrupt
- Argent (9/5): Superb -
- Sharni (8/5): Very good - Good little comfy cottage vibes, just what we needed for the two nights we were up for work Not at close to the river as expected and shown in photos
- Melissa (9/5): Excellent, just what we needed. - Perfect property to stay with our dogs, well set up and very comfortable for us all. Was very clean and tidy and well situated for privacy but also ease of access to restaurants. Will definately return when we get the opportunity. Don't really have a bad thing to say on our stay.
