Guest Reviews
- Kerry (10/5): Countryside Haven - The views of Charleston countryside are breathtaking. It is a quiet rural location, but only 5 minutes away from the nearest township. The hosts provided excellent amenities throughout and the bed was very comfortable. The heating and fireplace created a cosy environment. If visiting the Adelaide Hills, we would stay here again without hesitation. N/A

- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy warm, friendly atmosphere. Had one of the best sleeps 💤 ever.
- Shaun (9/5): Superb - Great location in the Adelaide hills. Lovely old stone cottage with beautiful slow combustion heater for the cold winter nights. Very friendly host, Max, who shared the history of the property and was available for anything that we needed. Loved seeing the rabbits, cows and chickens and the beautiful country scenery of the property.
- De (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were very helpful and friendly. Slept very well. Great location and very good value for money. Nice little extras like Hot Cross buns and little Easter eggs. Nothing
- John (10/5): The best place we stayed. - Everything. Beautiful farm scenery. Plenty of space in the unit. Cosy lounge with heating. Convenient location for us. Nothing. We could not stay longer.
- Rod (8/5): Very good -

- Stephen (10/5): Max and Bridget were fantastic hosts. They made us feel very welcome. - Mount Charles Homestead is set in a beautiful quiet location overlooking grazing paddock’s with stunning views up to Mount Charles.
Our accommodation was really comfortable with everything we needed for a two night stay.
Our rooms were located in a semi detached part of the homestead.
It’s an easy 10 minute walk into town.
We had dinner at the Charleston Hotel one night.
Great meal but I would recommend booking a table.
Thanks Max and Bridget for a lovely stay.

- Simon (10/5): A place to rest - We loved the small touches as we stayed for our Honeymoon for very sweet. Breakfast both days with local produce was delicious. Max and Bridget were fantastic hosts and great at communication. It's a beautiful view from all windows. A delightful country retreat. No
- Jones (7/5): Good - Quiet, clean and very comfortable Only small issue was pre packaged biscuits were stale and no cereal fir 2nd morning
- Julie (9/5): An excellent place for a couple. - The location was superb, very quiet, wildlife around us, our privacy was respected, the accommodation had everything we needed. The location to Charleston was just outside of the township and then we had close access to other sites. the bathroom was very large and for a property running on rainwater the shower was superb Nothing really for the cost of what we were provided with.
- Vicki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (9/5): Great venue handy to all Adelaide Hills places of interest. Great Hosts were available if needed. -
- Soraya (10/5): Bridget&Max at Mount Charles are the best: exceptional historical accomodation reasonably priced :) -
- Graeme (8/5): Warm misty stay - The wood fire was burning when we arrive, the view over the paddocks was great, nice and quite, large bed and shower. The breakfast provisions were huge The only thing I could say was that I was sort of expecting a little electric frypan so we could do a little cooking, as cold and wet outside to use the bbq. But made do with the microwave and toasted sandwich press
- Janice (9/5): Great, very comfortable accommodation and excellent hosts - Very welcoming hosts, very comfortable and clean. Everything you need for a short stay.
Combustion fire was lit to warm the place for our arrival, electric heaters for back up heating, lovely outlook over the farm. The provided continental breakfast was adequate.
- Mar (10/5): wonderful stay and I look forward to coming back again soon! - Beautiful property with exceptional, peaceful views! Max and Bridget were wonderful hosts!
- Andrea (9/5): A quiet country retreat that was ideal for our needs. - Quiet countryside comfortable accommodation with all that we needed. Lovely warm fire
- Taryn (10/5): Hosts were great, clean space and homey vibe - Close to the hills and to town Nothing
- John (10/5): Lovely Adelaide Hills B & B in a picturesque setting. - Very comfortable and roomy. Comfortable bed, good heating including wood fire. Lovely big bathroom with shower and bath. Breakfast included (continental) plus extras. Great location close to several Adelaide hills towns. A good pub down the road.. Bridget and Max were very friendly hosts and couldn't do enough for us. We would definitely come back again and tell our friends and family about it. Nothing that we didn't like. The hosts thought of everything.
- Di (8/5): Very good - Was nice and comfortable, clean, excellent service I can see a bit of problem with the wood heater, it was cold when you got back from a big days work . You had to start up heater, but lucky it wasn't to big space so it warmed up pretty fast
- Jen (10/5): Beautiful cottage and very kind owners. Definitely recommend!!! - Beautiful location, charming cottage and my very own fire place. Just perfect! Nothing!!
- Dianne (10/5): Lovely stay - Very welcome by the host. Lovely comfortable bed , great combustion fire. Lovely views and lots of birds.
- Jenny (9/5): Beautiful, comfy and quiet property. We loved our stay - Comfy and quiet cottage. Shower was amazing and huge! Bed comfy and Max and Bridget were lovely and welcoming. Little extras left for us were a special trear that we enjoyed. Kitchen was small and no cooking other than a microwave to heat up food. Other than that it was perfect.
- Trevor (10/5): Peaceful, comfortable, great value, perfect for a country getaway, within easy reach of the city. - We had a wonderful relaxing break, everything we needed was provided. The hosts are fabulous, knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming. We were not ready to leave this very comfortable, gorgeous and peaceful little cottage. We will be back. Thank you Max and Bridget. We loved our time.

- Jacqui (10/5): Quaint and relaxing stay - This is a beautiful property away from the hustle and bustle which is exactly what we were after.
The room is attached to the house but with its on entrance way. Comfy bed. Very big bathroom. Coffee machine.
The hosts are very friendly and willing to help with information. However if you’re wanting some space they are very respectful of allowing this too.
Local pub was also 5 star. Good food selection. Cute vibe with a community meat raffle going on when we were there. About 10-15min easy walk.
We hired e-bikes from a nearby town and cycled around the wineries. A really pretty area to explore. Nothing. It was everything we hoped and wished we could have stayed longer.
You will need a car to get to the property. Public transport doesn’t run out that way often.
