If we're back in Hobart, this is where we'll stay.

- Patricia (10/5): Convenience, charm & character! - It was great to stay somewhere so unique, with so much history & character. We appreciated the extra little touches such as delicious homemade jam & fresh eggs. It’s in a lovely part of town & an easy walk into the CBD.
- Rhian (10/5): Happy Days in Hobart - beautifully converted old stables with lovely balcony facing mount wellington. 30 minute walk to Salamanca Place either along Macquarie St or through Rivulet Park. Property was lovely and warm and the tasty bread, eggs, muesli, milk etc were very much appreciated. Chris advised us were to spot platypus and we were lucky to see one swimming in the Rivulet. nothing
- Joanne (9/5): Beautiful cottage with great hosts & location - Beautifully renovated cottage with a gorgeous garden & chickens. The hosts were friendly & left us delicious bread, eggs, jam, milk & butter. Local knowledge & advice led us to dinner at the local pub only a short walk away where we had a great dinner! Great location. Cafe across the road with others short walk away. 5 min drive into the city & great view of Mt Wellington from the balcony. A blockout blind on the loft window would be good
- Sally (9/5): Lovely accommodation in excellent location in Hobart. Would definitely stay again and recommend. - Lovely thoughtful touches including breakfast (enough for both mornings of our stay) and fresh flowers from the garden. Very comfortable beds and spotlessly clean. Excellent location - walking distance to city centre, close to a nice cafe and an excellent IGA. It was all good.
- Ron (8/5): - Nice garden setting and historical building.
Very friendly host.
- Simon (9/5): - Excellent location, Chris was very helpful especially with local knowledge. Lovely space for our family.
- Xuchao (10/5): We a family of 4 had a great two night stay at this property. The hosts Hilary and Chris are extremely friendly and help - Such an amazing place with a rich history and incredibly friendly hosts. Nothing I can think of.
- Rachel (10/5): - Loved the Stables accommodation and our fantastic hosts.
The welcome pack was particularly lovely -fresh eggs from the chickens, bread, etc
Our hosts really make sure we had everything we needed and let us know about best local walks and eateries.
A great stay - highly recommend !
- Katrina (9/5): Would recommend - Historical stone stable block, beautifully converted into accommodation and access to a roof terrace with views. Tricky entrance to navigate when first arrive.
- Roger (9/5): - Loved the accommodation, was everything we expected. Hosts were very welcoming 😁.
Short walk to cafes and local pub, would thoroughly recommend the Best cafe and the pub. Yum.

- Vicki (9/5): Fabulous stay highly recommend this property - Great location very comfortable and lots of character. Nothing
- Michael (10/5): Perfect hosts in Hobart - Excellent position close to everything. Excellent hosts who go above and beyond. Nothing
- Catt Palich (10/5): Rustic, comfy, great location, A+. - This adorably charming, rustic cottage kicked off our trip around Tasmania, and it was such a great start (and hard to beat). Well stocked kitchen, comfy beds and bedrooms, friendly on-site host (and doggo), such a great location with awesome coffee and shopping nearby. Ginger Brown was a fave local cafe, with excellent coffee, staff, breakfasts, and there was an awesome grocery store and butcher just a block away. Chickens in the yard for fresh eggs, and a grapefruit and lemon tree? Bliss. We loved it. We struggled to make coffee - perhaps some options for plunge coffee etc, and a grater would also be nice (we brought parmesan for our pasta dinner). But this is all nitpicky, it was really fantastic overall.
- Christine (9/5): - WIFI a bit slow
- Sara (10/5): -
- Shelley (9/5): Unique, lovely, cosy and very accomodating! - The cosy setup! And the thoughtful touches, bread, eggs and milk was a lovely gesture. I loved the property!!
- Kea (8/5): - Lovely stay in this little slice of historic Hobart. The building was full of character and just a short drive (or a long walk) from the CBD. We loved the small deck with its gorgeous view of Mt Wellington.
The fresh bread, eggs and jams from our hosts were a lovely touch and made breakfast extra special. With the weather cold and blustery, it was so nice to come back to this cosy spot and take refuge from the wind.
- Hussain (10/5): -
- Stacey (10/5): - The hosts were very welcoming. The accommodation was immaculate and very comfortable. There were lovely details, like a homemade sourdough and other nice touches in our kitchen. The location was central. We hope to return sometime and highly recommend to others staying in Hobart.
- Katrina (10/5): “The Stable” Hobart’s best kept secret. - The property was spotlessly clean and tidy. It is in close proximity to cafes, the rivulet walk (where we saw a platypus playing) and town.
There was fresh sourdough, eggs, avocado, lemons/grapefruit, homemade jam and butter provided by the host for breakfast.
The Stable is a beautiful heritage listed property and is such a wonderful place to stay in Hobart. Nil
- Lorraine (9/5): Lovely stay at the Stables, friendly, helpful hosts and comfy Stables. - Great accommodation with coffee shop across the road and excellent grocery store HHill Street Grocer) very close by. Nice view of Mt Wellington from the balcony. Good walk into town downhill. Breakfast supplies were lovely. Retro leather sofas not very comfy. No electric blankets in beds as stated on Booking.com. Bit of an incline walking back from town, good to park halfway.
- Diana (10/5): - Lovely hosts, comfortable accommodation and location close to an excellent restaurant, shops, pharmacy and walking trails. The loft bedroom is open to the kitchen which was a little tricky for kids bedtimes. You could put them in the other bedroom but the kids loved the loft
- Kylie-Marie (9/5): Would happily stay again. - The historic stable was beautiful, and the breakfast provisions (sourdough bread, jam, etc) were delicious and thoughtful. Having brunch on the balcony was just lovely.
- Warren (10/5): Great character and well presented property - Cosy comfortable great location
- Nicole (10/5): Perfect place to stay for a winter escape to Tasmania - Great location, beautiful views, lovely interior. Very comfortable and relaxing. It was all fantastic.
- Natalie (9/5): - Friendly hosts that provided fresh bread and produce from their garden. A quick walk from the Rivulet where we spent Dawn and dusk trying to spot platypus. Nil
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grant (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay - Thank You - Location was excellent
- Margh5 (9/5): Convenient and stylish in an historic location. - Hilary provided eggs, fruit, fresh milk, artisan loaf bread (best gluten-free bread I've had), tea and coffee.
The accommodation is clean, has good cooking facilities, and is stylishly furnished. Great location within walking distance of the city centre and Sandy Bay. The only thing I would have liked was something to make coffee with. Maybe a French press or stove top espresso would make it perfect.
- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jenni (9/5): Found the accommodation very charming, easy walking location. - Historic charm. Didn’t like the electronic hum you could hear at all times.
The toilet door needs repair, doesn’t close securely.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - This place is a little gem. Close enough to everything you need while far enough not to feel like you are in the bustle of the city. Hilary was so accommodating and the place cosy and historic. We would definitely stay again. Thank you for having us. Nothing!
- Treen (9/5): Cosy, Comfortable & Great Location - Everything was terrific! The lovely hosts have ensured you have everything you need with extra thoughtfulness. Excellent heating. Great shower water pressure. Very clean throughout. Good quality cooking and kitchen wares. B.Com images reflect the accommodation accurately. Lovely view of Mount Wellington from the deck which has a Weber Q and outdoor setting. Close to the CBD, wharfs, access to Mt. Wellington, must do rivulet walk, coffee shop and amazing Hill Street grocery store. Note there are 14 stairs up to the living area for consideration which could be challenging for the elderly or disabled. Highly recommend a stay at the Macquarie Street Stable ☺️🍂🌿 Beds could benefit from mattress toppers and quilts instead of multiple blankets but just a personal preference. Cosy and warm otherwise ☺️👍
- Guy (10/5): Had a lovely stay. The facilities were great and wished I had planned an extra night in retrospect. - A great location close to the CBD. Enjoyed sitting on the deck in the afternoon for "cocktail hour" viewing the mountain and surrounds. Loved the produce from the garden and being able to walk to the pub for dinner. We walked to the Salamanca market had lunch then caught the bus back for a great day out. There are lots of things around south Hobart to do and experience. An underrated location. The local supermarket was much better than I expected. Some information on the local buses would have been handy. Had to spend a bit of time navigating the government website to discover information on the bus we wanted.
- Jim (9/5): Superb - A lovely old renovated space with a modern touch. Loved the little balcony. There is a local supermarket 200 m down the road and a great cafe across the road. A brisk 25 minute walk to Salamanca Place if you’re feeling game or 5 minute drive.
- Heather (10/5): Would recommend - Lovely character building with a charming garden
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional - The Stable was perfect in every way. Location, history and convenience. Exceeded our expectations and would stay again. Easy checkin process.

- Russell (10/5): Something Special - Hosts, Hilary and Chris were outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed all the special goodies provided and the advice given relating to local attractions and restaurants. My partner, who damaged her knee, also appreciated the use of Hilary's walking pole.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - walking distance to investigate sights around Hobart.

Host was very pleasant
The Stable has been renovated very tastefully
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keren (10/5): Perfect for what we wanted. - Lovely fresh produce for breakfast.
Bath. Garden.
Friendly hosts.
- Rachael (10/5): Lovely accommodation and hosts - Our hosts, made us feel entirely at home. We wandered the garden, picked produce. They supplied home made bread and other goodies and accommodating of any request. It was really lovely. The house is very cosy inside with many interesting original features. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Five stars! Nothing.
- Andrea (10/5): Wonderful stay would definitely recommend this beautiful property you won’t be disappointed - This was a very comfortable warm and cost stay that definitely gave you the authentic farmhouse feel. It was attached to the main property but this wasn’t an issue for us. The unexpected breakfast provided was a lovely touch and the cafe and supermarket on the street was a great bonus! Nothing it was great!
- Carrie (10/5): Exceptional - The home was truly wonderful. Beautiful, comfortable, fabulous location. Goodies and flexibility about arrival were really appreciated! Highly recommended! Nil
- Lesley (10/5): Honestly such an incredible stay, beautiful owners who were so helpful. - Great location and the house had a stunning view One bathroom between two couples but we quickly navigated easily
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location if needed anything from the shops.
The host left treats such as homemade jam and sour dough on arrival, which was a lovely surprise.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (10/5): Outstanding choice minutes from everything - Quiet, super clean, comfortable, polite helpful hosts, lots of extras in the kitchen like milk, a beautiful loaf of bread, fruit, private elevated deck with gas grill, access to veggie garden, off street gated parking though security is obviously not an issue, great breakfast across the street and nice grocery store 100m away, great jazz club at Oscars minutes away. Everything was perfect for our stay.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catalina (8/5): Very good - We enjoyed our stay in this cutely decorated two bedroom apartment. The fresh eggs, bread and milk were delicious, and the host was welcoming and friendly. Perhaps too many narrow stairs that can be a bit challenging for seniors or large suitcases.
- Zhang (8/5): Perfect stay for a small family of 4. - Hillary and Chris prepare the place super clean and cosy for us. Coming from Asia, living in one of these cottages is indeed quite an experience.
- Ann (9/5): Lovely historic building convenient and great location - Provisions provided were excellent- catered for dietary needs Some guests had issue with pillows
- Kylie (9/5): Comfortable Old Charm close to everything - We loved our stay at the Stable. My brief for our adventure around Tasmania was to find quirky comfortable accommodation. With its 1970s retro vibe and sandstone combo, the Stable nailed it. All the comforts of home only a 20 minute walk or minutes drive from the waterfront, markets, Cascade Brewery and restaurants. There is a lovely cafe across the road and a well stocked connivence store within 1 minute walk. With cute egg laying chickens, undercover parking and very gracious hosts we were happy. We even spotted a platypus at the nearby rivulet. Thanks Hilary and Chris for a wonderful stay!
- Joanna (10/5): Perfect stay - Beautiful property. Very tastefully renovated with lovely touches. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. Hilary and Chris were lovely. We loved walking into the city down the rivulet pathway and even saw a platypus. Highly recommend!

It was wonderful to take an afternoon walk along the rivulet, breathe in the fresh air and see a platypus or two!
- Margh5 (10/5): A beautifully presented unit in an historic location. - Hilary is an excellent host. She provided a great range of breakfast ingredients responsive to the dietary requirements of our group. The accommodation is beautifully presented and equipped for relaxation, cooking and food preparation. Very handy walking distance to cafes and local attractions. Maybe a coffee plunger and ground coffee, and some herbal teas would be nice, although there was an excellent cafe across the road. But really no complaints!

- Michael (9/5): Great stay in very clean property in brilliant location with friendly & helpful hosts. - Very clean & cosy with very good beds & generous breakfast supplies. Location was brilliant as an inner suburb close to city but not a busy road and handy to bus. Opposite a superb cafe with fantastic coffee. Hosts were very friendly & helpful with local knowledge Notifying people that there are a dozen stairs from main entrance to apartment & lighting was very dim.
- Lara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Armstrong (8/5): Very good - The Stables is a very well appointed and comfortable place to stay. While it is located on a very busy road, it's close to a useful set of small shops, Cafe and restaurants. Fortunately our host Hilary recommended a lovely quiet river walk into Hobart, rather than having to walk in along the very busy main road. The Stables are a bit further out of Hobart than expected and located on a very busy main road into Hobart. Fortunately you don't hear the traffic noise once in the apartment and there is a really lovely river walk into Hobart which takes about 30 minutes.
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - Chris was fantastic and happy to help us with anything we needed. The location was great. It only took about 30 minutes to walk to the city. Breakfast provisions were great and replenished on request. It was quiet despite being on a main street. Don't let that deter you. I am a light sleeper and didn't hear traffic. The chooks gave us fresh eggs for breakfast. Nothing. Everything was great.
- Linda (9/5): Very enjoyable, would book again - Charming decor, beautiful views
