- Pei-Chia (1/5): 極差 - 風景 We stayed at a Melbourne accommodation listed on Booking.com from February 12 to February 19. Without giving us any prior notice, the host imposed excessive cleaning requirements on us, which caused us to check out 30 minutes late. They then used this as a reason to demand that we pay USD 50. In the end, they even charged approximately USD 318, without informing us in advance. At the beginning, neither verbally nor through messages did they inform us that checking out 30 minutes late would result in an additional USD 50 penalty. Therefore, there was no verbal agreement or any form of contract regarding this charge.
First, the accommodation provider, who is the disputed charging party, only sent us a message at 10:00 p.m. on the night before check-out, requiring us to complete extremely complicated cleaning tasks. Therefore, on the morning of check-out, we actively cleaned the property and disposed of the garbage. However, this last-minute requirement caused us to be unable to check out on time. This was not something we intended or wanted; rather, we were placed in a semi-forced situation.
In addition to using the delayed check-out as a reason, they requested an additional deduction beyond the basic USD 50 deposit. In subsequent messages, they further claimed that we “did not return the spare key and remote control,” using this as justification to withhold even more of the deposit. However, we have photos and videos proving that we placed all keys and remote controls requested by the host in the correct location. There was no failure to return them.
Second, another reason they provided for the additional charge was that the cleaning staff did not bring a spare key, and therefore our delayed check-out caused them to retrieve a spare key, resulting in additional labor costs that they demanded we pay. We believe that carrying a spare key should be their own responsibility. This issue should not be shifted onto us as a basis for demanding additional payment.

- ross (4/5): I was pretty disappointed worst keep place in the 12 places I stayed on my month holiday - There were cigarettes that had been just put out on the rug outside. There was cigarette butts. The place was not clean. We couldn’t get till three because the cleaner came but the place was not clean. Mirrors were dirty big huge stains on the carpet they put a rug on and then theyasked me why I looked under the rug when I complained about the big stain closet had lots of junk and dirt in them. Out dirty and messy the place was lots of stains they also said not to put in a review just to deal with them.

Very clean and easily accessible. The tram outside was a major bonus. The apartment had all that you needed. Communication was extensive. Hosts were wonderful to deal with and provided quick responses to any queries. Convenient location and easy to get to the MCG and Marvel Stadium. 2 bathrooms were essential for 4 male adults staying together on a footy and catch-up trip. Restaurants and breakfast places nearby were problematic, though. We had to walk around a bit or catch the tram toward the city for more options.

Unfortunately some people seemed to have created a few damage marks to some of the walls. Such a shame that has happened.

The host where wonderful to deal with and made our stay even easier with supplying a high chair and baby bath for our son which was not expected but was appreciated the apartment met all our needs and had a nice view over the river. We would definitely stay there again if ever back in Melbourne.

Gave feedback and was initially told they would tell the cleaner next time, with no intention to rectify the cleanliness issue for me (given I booked a 10+ day stay with them, and was not given early check in with the reason that they had to take time to clean, so what an irony). After another feedback, they decided to arrange for cleaning and I requested them to come on a day where I moved my itinerary to be around, reason being who is going to be responsible if my things get lost. I waited and no one came at the stipulated time period, so I left to bring my family out. To my horror, the cleaners have access to the apartment when the apartment should only have two sets of keys, both of which I’m holding. Never again with this. Not recommended.

Property was smaller than expected and the furniture was dated. Carpet in bedrooms was a bit stained in aspects and same with sofa in lounge. Dining room table was too big for the apartment which contributed to lack of space and making the apartment looking small.

A tram stop is right outside the apartment - located within the free tram zone. It’s a spacious apartment and beds were comfortable. Kitchen facilities are good. We had a car so an included parking space with the rental was a big plus when considering my options.
The location is convenient to access public transport (trams) and is a brief walk to one of the main train stations. (We did not use these, but may be a big plus for some) The rental barely met cleanliness standards in my opinion. Hand prints and smudges all over the windows/sliding doors to the balcony. The carpets were dirty with stains and also not well vacuumed. The vacuum cleaner in the rental was so clogged with hair it didn't clean anything up (I tried).
All of the walls throughout the rental had scuff and dirt marks all over and there were several spots with unknown substances/drips dried on. Large amounts of dust on the floor boards and in corners.
The throw pillows and throw blankets smelled of stale cigarette smoke. The sofa also smelled stale and dirty. The entire rental smelled strongly of moth balls. This odor was also in the hallway, so it may have been filtering from a neighboring apartment. IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO ODORS I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
There are night lights along the sidewalk by river right outside the building. The lights are at the exact level of this first floor rental and are on all night, it's like dawn all night inside.
Having to wait by the front door of the building for a resident to open the door with their fob was not ideal for obtaining keys. It seems strange to make people lurk around the entrance, and seems to be potential for negative reception/interaction with building residents.
The FOB set up for the parking was terrible, you have to physically get out of your car to touch the fob to the box to both enter and exit the parking structure.
The rental managers provided a lot of communication leading up to our stay which was nice. However, based on the lack of cleanliness of the rental in comparison with their check out communications regarding cleanliness expectations it seems they may not actually physically visit the property very often.
The location is among many office buildings, so restaurants in the area were open only Monday-Friday for the most part.

The apartment was comfortable and well equipped, and the pool in the building was very nice. Accessing the lock box to pick up the keys was a bit strange - we had to hang around and wait for someone to enter or leave the building.
The carpets in the apartment hadn't been vacuumed, but otherwise the apartment was very clean.
