Guest Reviews
- Gaborone (8/5): Excellent place to stay in when you want quiet and nature - The nature of the place, along the river, the quietness and greenery. The closed kitchen. Though they made me an exception for me which was really nice of them
- Woker (8/5): Very pleasant - The location was excellent. Thought they could have enhanced the experience by offering sunset cruises It would have been useful to have a microwave and plates, etc. in the room, as we did cater for ourselves for a couple of meals. But we were able to get from the kitchen
- Celest (1/5): Owner over zealous, need to calm down so that guests can enjoy themselves. - Convenient location We booked one year in advance, when we checked in two of our rooms were given to other people, unfortunately we had to share units.
- Teresa (4/5): - Location and facilites were great, albeit small touches to room prep were missing (e.g. no milk or sugar for complimentary coffee; a bottle of drinking water in room would have also been a thoughtful touch). Prices as advertised on Bookimg.com were not charged ("problem with booking.com"). Initial amended prices proposed also didn't align to other platforms where prices were advertised. Although we settled on an agreed price in the end - the principle of not charging advertised prices is not acceptable. In addition, host is to also ipdate advertising to indicate that restaurant is no longer functioning.
- Paul (7/5): This was a two night rest up stay prior to our heading out on Safari. We enjoyed the locale, and it was a relaxing place - The location, right on the river was excellent!
We were there early in the season and pretty much had the place to ourselves. $$. Access—. O airport shuttle service. Without our own vehicle it was a pain and expensive to get to and from town. Meals were not available which was a PITA (pain-in-the-ass).
- Mothusi (10/5): -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Shaikh (7/5): - Nice view No air-conditioning in night is ok but afternoon is too hot
- Granger (8/5): Great!! Would definitely recommend! - Great location, very tranquil with beautiful riverfront views.
The host and staff were friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful throughout our stay. Really nothing negative to say at all.
- Felicitas (7/5): -
- Rose (9/5): - The service. The structure Difficult to find at. The board from the main road is really invisible..
- Heinrich (6/5): Nice beautiful and clean with disappointing directions and restaurant. - The host was was a beautiful, friendly and helpful lady. They are not listed on Tracks 4 Africa or on Garmin maps or Maps.Me. Were struggling with internet on my phone so couldn’t connect to Google like a found them in the first place. They have a beautiful restaurant and Bar area but it was closed. That wasn’t nice after a long day of driving.
- Frans (7/5): - The staff were very accommodating and the view was very pleasant. I expected to see wild game from the premises, but all else was good.
- Yossi (9/5): - Beautiful location, friendly staff in very reasonable price. Nothing
- Angus (8/5): - A nice overnight stop, especially when travelling West. The water made for a nice setting although the miggies were many. Only one chair on the deck was perhaps an oversight?
- Adrienne (8/5): Great - really worth it - highly recommend - Great location, fabulous host, great joie de vivre Comms with the property before check in
- Peet (10/5): A really great stay and so worth the money! - A beautiful camp with a lovely pool to cool off in. N/a
- Carla Vera Cruz (8/5): -
- Stuart (9/5): -
- David (9/5): More a lodge than a guesthouse in a very peaceful setting. - Excellent food. Entertaining host. Abundant bird life. Water had not yet reached the lake bed which was dry.
- Sandra (1/5): - Wir bekamen trotz bestätigter booking.com Buchung kein Zimmer (alle voll)
- Camellia (10/5): A comfortable, quiet place to relax. Staff was very welcoming and helpful :) - We loved our stay at Nako Okavango guesthouse! All the staff were welcoming and friendly, especially Mike and Regina! We had dinner here two nights and the food was excellent! Bed was comfortable and the water was hot, overall a great experience. Just be aware that you are in the country and there will be some noise at night from the surrounding area. There was also no water in the lake at the time we were there (the water hadn’t made it down far enough yet).
- Narina (9/5): -
- Jessica (5/5): Nice location with good cabins and comfy beds but management needs improvement. - The tented cabin on the river edge in terms of location and layout was great, the large bed was very comfortable The room was cold (it was a winter night) and a heater would have been good. The wifi didnt work at the cabins and slow wifi was obtained standing outside the closed restaurant. The place didnt seem well organised or well staffed. We had to wait for staff to arrive the next morning to pay and this took a long time as the staff didnt know the pin code for the credit card machine and couldnt get hold of the manager/owner, the wifi connect was slow and in the end we had to pay cash to leave. The restaurant was closed and no one around and since it is several kilometres out of town food was not available without advance confirmation (but luckily we had eaten dinner in town but left without breakfast).
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ashley (8/5): Very good - Mike is a good host although we arrived late he prepared some dinner for us.
- Daniel (8/5): Can be a great overnight stop or even for a few days if above is rectified - Stunning property, beautiful rooms. Great opportunity to be a special resort The bar and restaurant ( beautiful) were not functioning ( closed) and resort is 20 kms outside Maun
- Chris (10/5): Most wonderful stay at an amazing place - I could run out of superlatives to describe how good the Nako Okavango river camp is. What they have created here is hard to believe. A beautiful set of tent cabins set beside the river. (Camping available also). Everything used in the building and grounds are top quality, the carpentry and building are excellent, water pressure, swimming pool, security lights; nothing has been skimped on. The main restaurant/bar area looks out over the river and the cabins are in a wide arc along the banks under flowing trees. Inside the cabins are comfy beds with top quality linen, doonas, blankets and pillows with draping mosquito nets. Flaps on the flywire windows can be opened for the air and views. Very hot water showers, fridge and a deck with chairs to sit out on.
I have to mention the greatest assets are Mike the owner and manager Regina. Mike is such a larger than life fellow with many interesting and humorous stories of an amazing life. He’s also a quality chef and made 3 wonderful dinners for us. They are both so friendly and helpful and really made our stay wonderful. Regina can also do clothes washing if needed. They also organised a Mokoro canoe trip for us, which was really worthwhile. And directed us to the Duck cafe near the airport, best coffee in Maun!
It’s about 15 minutes outside Maun just off the bitumen road, there is a large sign on the highway.
The short dirt road in was hard packed and easily passable in our 2wd corolla. All great
- Sondej (1/5): Bad - After driving 4hrs we were told they don't have rooms for us. They blamed booking. After i told them i sent an email 2 days prior manager told he does not have access to email that is stated on theire website. He was rude and was talking over me. Very unprofessional.
- Dana (9/5): Comfortable Stay away from Town - The guesthouse had a very nice feel with comfortable tent type lodging. A great place for birdwatching.
- Antique (6/5): Pleasant - The room is good U don’t have to arrive at this lodge in the night , its location is way off the road , on bad no signs for directions.you must use google maps for Better location. If you arrive in the evening you will not get meals better have meals in the city centre.
No early breakfast though they provide a boiler in the room but no coffee or sugar. It was a brief night stay though it could be exciting if you plan to stay longer
- Konrad (7/5): Good - A very nice camp. Friendly staff. Unfortunately they kinda forgot about our booking. The restaurant was closed, but maybe that was due to the low season? Other than that a very nice peaceful place outside of Maun
- Mandipa (9/5): Superb -
- Bruce (9/5): Superb - Everything good and excellent value for money. So much better than staying in Maun town
- Marc (8/5): loved it ! - rustic african feel
lovely deck area at the bar/restaurant.
food was great and the beds ...
king size and so comfy ! no aircon but fans are installed
- Mose (9/5): A healthy much needed peace - Very peaceful and quite Restaurant closed too early 16:30
- Hans (10/5): Was very well organised and very good service.Breakfast was excellent. - Well located very clean Rooms excellent staff and a good service and delicious food
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Staff support was great There is a drought and the river view was dry
- Cerian (8/5): Very good - The location is amazing. In a remote location so very peaceful. I was there in the dry season so no water in the river, and no wild animals but bird life very interesting. Should be a wonderful location for birds and animals when the river is flowing.
All staff very helpful and very supportive. Breakfast and dinner options limited at times however totally acceptable. In early September, though 25 - 35C during the day, it can get cold at night (10 - 15C) but plenty of thick bedding provided so never cold in bed. Nothing. A lovely tented campsite. Will definitely look to return here in future.
- Ulli (9/5): Superb - All was good
- Balo (1/5): It was awful - We did not receive any breakfast yet we paid for it. The staff was not friendly nor serve all we requested. We had to beg for services we paid for, we also did not get the themed set ups as per agreement upon booking.
- Justice (9/5): A beautiful place that i would definitely go back to - Welcoming staff so professional. The food was great, the place is so quiet and calm. We enjoyed our stay. I would like to express my gratitude to the chef who made sure my husband really feels special on his birthday Nothing
- Lesego (10/5): Exceptional -
- Corrius (8/5): Great stay. - Room was great. Staff very helpful and friendly and food was good. We had a situation where we booked a tent, however there was a miscommunication between the owner and myself. We had to confirm that we will arrive, for the tent to be erected. This was not clear on booking.com.
We did receive discount for a room due to this, however it did cost additional money due to the above.
- Nono (10/5): Exceptional and will be returning soon. - The atmosphere, the environment and the venue was very peaceful. The gravel road to the venue was full of sharp rocks.
- Hannah (9/5): Superb -
- Gorata (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing at all
- Gorata (10/5): Exceptional - The river front view
Scenery, food and the entire landscape
Peace and tranqulity
- Reagan (7/5): Good -
- Rudi (10/5): Exceptional - So nice friendly helpful Staff More the manager, Regina and Oscar where so nice and helpful and we became friends on the famous Boat and Game Park Tours
- Macnamara (8/5): Very good -
- Mosidi (7/5): I enjoyed my stay - The food was lovely, good presentation and excellent taste
- Pearl (8/5): Very good -
- Amantle (7/5): Good -
- Cheryl (10/5): Highly recommended, loathe to let out the secret gem we found, as I’m sure once it gets out it will be fully booked alwa - The location and staff were brilliant! We booked at the last minute due to car trouble, close enough to Maun for convenience and yet you feel like you are far away from it all! A perfect stopover, a little oasis and a gem! Nothing was to much trouble, even an airport drop off at no charge, highly recommend and can’t wait to return
- Eben (2/5): Disappointing, food was not on standard - The supper was not prepared as order, the meat overdone and mash instead of fries, breakfast was served late and poorly set up.
No milk in the room for coffee,
website said we can pay by card, we had to fork out nearly P3000 to pay cash;
we will never stay here again.
- Dietmar (10/5): Its all new. - The guest house was only opened this season and is therefore still rather quiet. The comfortably furnished safari tents are located directly on a river bend. A restaurant offers dining on a terrace with sunset views. There are also campsites with their own kitchen and bathroom. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. A perfect base for activities around Maun.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicolaas (10/5): Extremely friendly and helpful staff, good value for money in a quiet but still with good proximity, definate return for - Brand new facility and away from the main road but still close to Maun Not much
