Guest Reviews
- Norman (7/5): Good -
- Carmen (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): Very good - Would have been nice to have had hot water for washing and shower No hot water
- Anonymous (3/5): Wouldn’t stay there again. - Location near ferry terminal Water from faucets was rusty, hallway and general upkeep was poor, shabby.
- Susan (4/5): Disappointing - Way too many stairs and and just grubby all around Exit door in room is unusable. And nothing has been updated.
- Nola (8/5): Very good -
- Eileen (9/5): Superb - A comfy clean older motel close to ferries and VIA rail station. Taxi $10+ change. Renovations provided new beds and wonderful mattress.
Grocery store across the street.
Sign to not clean fish in your room made me smile. All good for an older west coast motel. Another traveller & I shared taxi to and back to ferry. He stayed at hotel next door that had a 'breakfast' but rooms were less impressive.
- Brian (9/5): Good one night stay before you hop on the ferry to Haida Gwaii!👍 - Good location, friendly staff and cheaper than any other place in town Nothing, possibly the stairs, but at least I got my steps in😀
- Anissa (8/5): Location! - Great location for ferry. No kettle or coffee maker for hot beverages.
- Paul (5/5): Dated with difficult external access and no elevator - Helpful receptionist gave us a good recommendation of the best Chinese restaurant in town. He also changed us to downstairs rooms. Good advice on catching the ferry. Came to the room to give advice on the TV. Reliable early wake up calls. Steep external stairs from parking to reception. No internal elevator/lift. Dated facilities and decor. Guests required to wash their own dishes which made us worry about the cleanliness. Would recommend washing the dishes before you use them.
- Bettina (8/5): It's a great location - The price was right. No elevator/ it is an old building
- Penny-lynn (9/5): Superb -

- Steven (4/5): so glad it was only for a few nights , not recomended for a senior or anyone with stair issues - location is handy close to where I needed to be the stairs up to the entrace are really scary for a senior , no coffee in the room ? bed was ok , but that chair was just awful
- Northup (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (7/5): Good -
- Laysa (5/5): Good for the price. Motel could use some upgrades but overall it isn't bad. - Convenient location, close to restaurants and grocery shops. Friendly staff. Old motel, some of our rooms had a strong soap smell. Cable TV didn't work for most days.
- Linda (8/5): A comfy stay in a friendly establishment! - Friendly, old, comfortable bed, but with facilities to enable self-catering. In the heart of town. Facilities very out-dated
- Godwin (10/5): Nice, quiet…very clean and peaceful. - Very clean, super nice staff, perfectly situated near downtown area. No complaints. Was thoroughly satisfied.
- Leanne (5/5): Stay was adequate, staff friendly but property in need of upgrading. - Location was great. Property needs some work as very run down. Lack of maintenance on the property.
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb -
- Alfred (6/5): Pleasant - No Breakfast, that we noticed
- Mnmmcger (1/5): Bad - All the staff were amazing! I live them.
They are real friendly and courteous. I did not like the owner who accused me of ramming a fence which I didn't. She was ready to bear false witness and even called the police, she apparently wanted to defraud the insurance company and make a false claim.
The owner was belligerent as well ignorant. I feel real bad for employees there as they are abused by the bully owner.
I will be hard pressed to stay there again the staff are so wonderful.
The owner screwed this up for everyone.
I would NOT recommend this hotel because the owner is a liar and a cheat.
- Chelsey (7/5): Good - We came in off the midnight ferry run and they had 24 hour check in . The lovely lady at the front desk had us upstairs but travelling with sleepy kids she moved us downstairs so we didn’t have to juggle everything .
- Seyedshaahin (4/5): Disappointing - Nice and available staff, location Not clean at all and a very bad smell every where specially in the room
- Sheena (9/5): Spent two nights here en route to Haida Gwaii. Short walk to restaurants and stores. I would stay here again - Great value. Easy walking distance to everything and access to ferry very straightforward. Friendly staff Nothing
- L (8/5): Very good -
- Seij (8/5): Very good - Cheapest place to stay. It served its purpose. Quiet, clean. Just slept and relaxed there. Relative walking distance to everything, but PR is small. A bit outdated.
- Laura (3/5): What a dump! - When the shower did finally work, it was strong and hot. The shower did not work when we arrived, the receptionist reacted like my request to fix the shower or give us a different room was an unreasonable demand.
Similarly, when I asked if we could have 2 extra sheets (one sheet was provided per queen bed, but there were 4 of us).
The "motel" did not have ground floor rooms, everything had to be lugged up to the 1st or 2nd floor. The balcony was inaccessible and the door locked. Outside it was about 15 degrees Celsius but inside over 25. The window was tiny and next to no air circulation achievable. No A/C. The fan was brutally loud. The kitchenette was dirty, the dish towel stinky, the sponge wet and had some hair and dirt on it.
No outlets by the bed.
- Jean (8/5): Very good -
- Dixie (8/5): Very good - Comfy beds. Great water pressure in the shower. Coffee in the morning. We were supposed to stay two nights here but cancelled the second night because we were told that the pub behind (closed our first night there) was very loud, till very late. In retrospect, after checking in to our alternate choice for our second night, we should have stayed at Aleeda.
- Abel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shane (9/5): Great comfortable stay - Great location and easy check in especially after arrival from Ferry at midnight. For the price, happy with the accommodation. Parking was a little cramped
- Seijiro (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (6/5): Convenient - No breakfast was available. Close to ferry We had a room facing the back. There is a bar and everyone was going out the back door was smoking and yelling until at least 2:00 am. We did the ferry was awake for 21 hours that day really needed to sleep. Had to have windows open as the room was very warm. They should not rent out these rooms if possible
- Tlm (8/5): Convenient for ferry terminal - Very convenient location for staying after late arrival on the ferry - just a few minutes drive from the ferry terminal and late night check in available. Very comfortable beds and clean rooms! The fixtures are dated but functional - the price reflects this so no complaints!
- Terence (5/5): Passable -
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clint (6/5): A dated hotel that was clean. We arrived late and left early so value was important. It fulfilled our expectations - Easy to get to from from ferry terminal. On a warm night the rooms were hard to cool down
- Maccannell (8/5): Very good -
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional - Very close to ferry terminal and quiet Rather mid twentieth century feel, which does have its allure.
- Ken (6/5): Pleasant -
- Margaret (7/5): Good -
- Bc123456 (9/5): Superb -
- Clare (8/5): Very good -
- Leithe (8/5): Very good -
- Ardell (5/5): The rooms were okay just a bit hot - The staff was excellent Very noisy people out screaming in the alley but that’s beyond anyone’s control
- Ogden (7/5): Good -
- Jeff (6/5): Pleasant -
- Carmen (8/5): Very good -
- Martin (7/5): Good - Very convenient for the ferry from Port Hardy. Check in after midnight was fine. Good value. Room stifling as heating had been set to maximum. Would have preferred coffee making in the room rather than in the foyer, but the coffee was fine.
- Helen (7/5): Good -
- Cindy (5/5): Passable - Friendly staff
Shower head was excellent. The hotel is badly in need of work, but little things could be done to make it better: more towels! Towels were old and worn, but the worst was that there were so few left.
- Rosemary (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tiara (2/5): Never again - Staff was nice Our room did not have AC it was sooo hot all night and the window we opened had a bar right outside people screaming, puking , etc , it just wasn’t pleasant at all. I expected us to have a good sleep but no we were all hot during the night and the noise was crazy
- Alan (3/5): Would not recommend - Very tired dark building, the 'deluxe queen suite' had stained sheets.
- Greg (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sean (7/5): Good -
- Betty (8/5): The room is nice and clean. I enjoyed my stay. - Good location
- Meredith (9/5): Great value stay - Spacious, clean room with a kitchen and full-sized fridge. Laundry on site ($2/load), helpful staff, short walk to downtown and includes parking. Across the road from a supermarket. Hotel and room is older, but great value for money. No lift
- Alana (2/5): Wouldn’t recommend to anyone except the street people that live there!! - Location was ok Room was very out dated and the bathroom was gross!! And the bed was probably as old as the property!! Not to mention the other guests that must live there, doing drugs and people in and out of rooms at all times of the night and day!!
- Pooria (3/5): Needs improvement. Was not a comfortable stay. - Staff were helpful and let us check in early. Building needs renovations. The room and the hallways had old building smell. Bathroom sink was clogged. No electric plugs by the beds to charge electronics.
- Lynda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mcdonald (5/5): Passable -
- Sean (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable bed, quiet room, great shower, central location No problems to report!
- Dorothy (8/5): Very good - Nice clearness and quiet with parking. It's good as a budge stop.
- Larry (7/5): Good -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Lance (1/5): Has to rebook hotel someone else - Someone called said he could not for fill the booking. Had to cancel booking and look for another place to stay
- Carrie (10/5): quiet friendly clean place to stay - clean quiet and friendly staff nothing
- Douglas (7/5): Good -
- Bechard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Northup (9/5): Superb -
- Douglas (8/5): Got a good nights sleep not as noisy as I thought it was going to be -
- Northup (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nadeau (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rushforth (5/5): Passable -
- David (6/5): Pleasant - Reasonable price inbetween two other properties I have stayed at before. No staff on desk at checkout, will check my credit card for the $200 no key return charge. Pillows worn out, 1 not enough two was too many. Sink very slow to drain, not something that happens overnight. Otherwise a fair value budget motel
- Nazar (8/5): Very good -
- Kandiss (10/5): Exceptional - Great price, excellent location, and very helpful staff. Clean rooms with all you need to cook for yourself as well as a fridge. Easy walking from Motel to any where downtown.
- Cheryl (7/5): Night clerk was excellent. I had made an error in my booking. He contacted booking.com re -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Very pleasantly surprised by the things that have changed. I'll keep going back. - I have been staying at the Aleeda over many years and was gobsmacked by the upgraded reception and hallways. The rooms are also redecorated and everything works. Trivial complaint. Please trade out the rusty Kleenex holder and or put the kleenex in it.
- Kenneth (5/5): Passable - The staff at reception were excellent, personable and good sense of humour. The facility seemed a bit dated and in need of upgrading. The room was dark and one of the lamps was missing a bulb. There was a full flight of stairs just to get to reception.
- Heather (7/5): Nice if you have no other options. - Staff and vibe was nice. VERY outdated. Construction made parking a hassle. No A/C. Uncomfortable bed/linens.
- Marko (8/5): Very good - It's an old motel, but room was clean, bed comfy. I've stayed for one night, price was reasonable. Noise of ventilators on the hallway.
- Stephanie (8/5): Dated hotel but clean and very friendly staff. - The fridge had a nasty smell of fish.
- Beck (9/5): Superb - Warm welcome This room didn't have a kettle.
