Guest Reviews
- Kai Yi (10/5): -
- Diana Patricia (8/5): Really nice staff - The place is fantastic, but it is just for two people. We were two at the beginning, but then an extra friend joined us, and it was too tight. There was no room for three because we wanted to stay longer. Also, a coworking area would be nice too. I had to work in the laundry area, haha!

- Annina (9/5): Schönes, modernes Hotel in super Lage.
- YY (7/5): Modern and well-designed room, but with disturbed rest - Well-designed modern-looking room with everything I needed, with complimentary minibar with local cookies. Strong wifi. Friendly and helpful staff. I like that they had several promotions and deals with shops in the vicinity. Strong vibration feeling and sound at night and in the morning due to underground MRT. Also, aircon seemed to be non-inverter type so it blew warmer and colder air in cycles, so I couldn't rest well. Shower cubicle had a bit of drainage/damp smell. TV didn't seem to have screen mirroring function, would be nice if it was available.
- Fabian (10/5): - Staff was very helpful and friendly
- Cho (8/5): - The room and hotel is very clean and staff are welcoming. Nothing I don't like. Just that the room is really very small, but just nice for one person stay .
- Desa (8/5): Nice and well equipped room but very crammed and noisy; bad charging practice - Central location on a very scenic street lined with colonial style buildings; plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood including a couple of good vegetarian restaurants within walking distance. The small room has everything you need (except a working fridge). Front desk staff were nice. What this hotel irritated me the most was that they debit your card several weeks before check-in date without warning, just to confirm your card is working; booking.com only tells you after the fact. Bad luck if your card does not have enough Singaporean dollars and the deposit needs to be deducted in a different currency at a poor exchange rate and with a conversion fee. They do return the deposit after you pay your room rate on arrival, but the amount has to be converted back into your own currency and you lose money again in that process. All of that means you end up paying a lot more than the stated room rate and the hotel doesn't think this is their problem. The fact that they charge the deposit without warning also means you may suddenly find your card without any money left and your normal transactions don't go through. All of these issues could have been avoided if the hotel had the courtesy of advising guests before they deduct the deposit to give the guests time to transfer enough Singaporean dollars to their card beforehand.
In terms of the room itself, it is very noisy at night (loud music from the street and rumbling noises from the subway trains). The room is extremely crammed, the small space is entirely filled by a large bed (excessive for a single traveller). Forget about inviting a friend over during the day as there is barely any space in the room to stand let alone sit down, not to mention the semi transparent shower. There is what looks like a fridge under the bed but it is not switched on (and the switch is not somewhere obvious), so it is more like a tiny cupboard.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptionally cosy, comfortable with fantastic customer care - Everything about this place was exceptional! From check-in to check-out every staff member was welcoming and approachable. Special thanks to housekeeping staff Michelle who had the unwelcoming task of cleaning up my young son's vomit after he threw up on the deck soon after arrival from an airport meal, which she did so without complaint. On checking out, we saw her and she asked after my son with genuine concern.
Provided beverages and snacks were a lovely touch. As were the provided toiletries. The bed was super comfy.
Close to the train station, Chinatown, and so many food options. The room was compact and not much space to spread your stuff out, but I still say it was a favourite place to stay during our holiday. More pricey than other options but well worth it for the facilities, customer care, and location.
- LINA (9/5): - Amazing location. Friendly staff. Small but very well-equipped room. It has everything. Very clean. Cozy. Superb vibes. Room is too small
(10/5): A hotel worth visiting again - The room seemed tiny in the pictures, but it turned out to be the perfect, moderate size when I stayed there. The staff were super sweet! They let me drop off my bags before check-in, which was a lifesaver - no dragging my luggage to the spots I wanted to see! The housekeeper did an amazing job. They tidied up every day for the two nights I was there, and the place was impeccably clean.👍 I slept like a baby. I didn't hear any noise at all. The air con was incredibly cold—loved it!❤️ My room was located on the terrace level. The rain was quite loud, but aside from that, I was very happy with my stay.
- Mark (7/5): - It was a brand new hotel. The rooms were awfully small. Therefore for the fee paid per night, there's not much value to it. Way too expensive
- Marusca (8/5): Excellent solution in perfect location - Super convenient
- Pablo (9/5): -
- Thomas (7/5): Ok but noisy - It was clean The noise. Combination of building works and what sounded like a regular underground noise. I thought at first it was an earthquake
- Harry (8/5): - Good location in interesting part of town Room was tiny, but ok for a short stopover
- Ewa (9/5): -
- Antoun (10/5): -
- Lorenzo Romano (8/5): - Hotel molto carino e ben gestito.
- Diana (9/5): Absolut empfehlenswert - Super Lage sehr hilfsbereites Personal
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Erica (9/5): Cute and clean in the heart of Chinatown and steps to MRT - Location is fabulous, you are a quick walk to everything in Chinatown and the Maxwell station (TE Line). Renovated charming and hip streetscape. Don't be scared of the bustling restaurant scene on the block when you first get there, I was on 3rd floor facing the street and it dies down and it always felt safe with many people around. You will of course feel the vibration of the MRT below but it's very minor and you adjust, it stops around midnight until 6am. I stayed for 3 nights in a Deluxe Double, it took me a bit to adjust to the cozy space, but it's super functional and clean. The hotel is modern inside and well kept. The glass elevator with adorable wall mural was a great touch to open up the space. The staff were so pleasant everyday and helpful when I needed to hail a cab (I didn't have the Grab app downloaded). Appreciated the welcome treats and beverages on arrival and fluffy towels changed everyday. There is a water cooler and free laundry and the outdoor shared sitting area was quite nice. I definitely would stay here again! It definitely could use more wall hooks to hang some more personal items off the floor, not just the towels. On booking.com I paid for a Deluxe Double Room but looking back at pictures on the site I believe I only got a Standard Room because there was no walk area around my bed. I have bad knees so it was hard for me to climb into bed instead of entering from the side. I didn't bring it up upon check in because I thought I had booked the wrong room but not sure if anyone will do anything now. I still rate the hotel high as I was very happy with the staff and property in general.
- Germán (9/5): Superb -
- Rose (7/5): Excellent stay for 1 person. Some considerations if multiple people. - There are many great things about this hotel! If I had been staying on my own, without a second person in the room, I would easily rate this hotel 5 stars.
1. Location: 5 stars. It is very close to multiple metro stations, a close walk to Chinatown, minutes from Maxwell food centre, and in a hip/trendy neighbourhood with a lot of eating and night-life options. Honestly, the location couldn't be better.
2. Hotel: newly renovated, nice aesthetic, spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed, high-quality bedding, good water pressure, AC works great in the room we were in (deluxe double room).
The staff were friendly.
If you are staying with 1 person in the room, I would highly recommend this hotel! However, if you are staying as a couple or with family/friends, there are some things to be aware of (from the perspective of the room type "Deluxe Double Room"):
1. Bathroom Design: the toilet has zero privacy. And I mean absolutely zero. There is a sliding door which is designed to cover either the shower OR the toilet - it does not cover both at the same time. And, the wall between the toilet and shower is glass - so, if you have the sliding door covering the toilet stall while you are using the toilet, you are still 100% exposed because the side wall (which faces the shower AND the bed) is glass. And not even frosted glass. So you literally have no way of using the toilet without being fully exposed to whoever else is in the room. In addition to not having any visual privacy, the glass walls which enclose the toilet do not go all the way to the ceiling - so there is no way to encapsulate sound or smell. If you are staying in this room with a second person, I recommend you have a high-level of comfort and intimacy regarding toileting needs.
2. Size: while the small size of the room is not an issue in itself, the internal design poses some issues. The design of the bathroom makes no sense (as above). The bed is also situated in such a way where you have to climb over the other person to get out of the bed - there is no way to walk around the bed (even though technically there is space, the design of the bed prevents it). The only place for suitcases is under the bed (which works fine), so just be aware that only 1 person can pack/access their suitcase at 1 time. We actually had to put one of the suitcases in the shower stall to access the 2nd suitcase.
3. Air Circulation: even though the Deluxe Double Room has a window which let's in good natural light - the window does not open. So, the only air circulation is the air-conditioner.
- Ka (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (8/5): Great location for a short stay in Singapore with Maxwell MRT and lots of eating places nearby - Great location. Close to Maxwell MRT Rooms are very small- as wide as a queen’s sized bed … but it is a clever design and your luggage fits under the bed.
- Kathy (8/5): Very good - Location, cleanliness, staff Was surprised how small the rooms actually were. I was in room solo, so I was OK, but travel companions as a couple challenged by room size, with additional luggage as we were embarking on 4 week trip to Europe
- Marketa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aleksei (9/5): Superb -
(10/5): Exceptional -
- Desiree (9/5): Superb - Amazing location, staff was really friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The room was small, which made it a bit harder with the bags but we expected this so it wasn’t a major issue.
- Heather (7/5): Enjoyable just a little cramped. - It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Very good shower. Staff were outstanding. Very well decorated. Room was very small for 2 people and luggage. Very little storage space, would be ideal for 1 person.
- Jialin (4/5): Disappointing - The hotel is relatively new and it's quite clean. The bed is comfortable. The location in Chinatown is definitely convenient and good for walking in the area. We booked the double deluxe room and it was WAY TOO SMALL. My partner and I felt extremely uncomfortable - we basically paid $200 a night to sleep in a closet:
- When you use the toilet you have to stand in the shower
- Impossible to have two people standing at the same time. One person needs to be sitting on the bed in order for the other person to move around
- The bed is literally fenced in by walls on all 3 sides so we have to climb over each other to get out of bed
- Can't even open the door to the room fully because we had 2 suitcases and there was nowhere to put them
Awful value, I could get way more space for the same price elsewhere. I have stayed at the Pod hotel in New York, small hotel rooms in Hong Kong and Japan and this is still somehow the smallest and most cramped room I have ever experienced. I mostly have an issue with how misleading this hotel is - call this room a Pod or a closet, not a "double deluxe room" and provide more realistic photos that actually show how cramped it is.
- Caroline (9/5): Cozy, convenient, and clean - It was very convenient in terms of location, close to maxwell and Chinatown complex and the MRT stations Outram Park and Maxwell. The staff were very friendly, the rooms clean, and the loft allowed for separation for 2 people. People also wrote about the rumbling of the MRT, I’m a light sleeper and lived on the 3rd floor so it was okay. We did have a small stain on the bedsheet when it was changed, and I hope that Claude continues to maintain the cleanliness standards. Would also recommend to allow guests to open the window in the shower to let out steam to prevent mould.
- Steve (8/5): Loved it - Staff were really nice and helpful. Tim was smaller than it looked in the website but a great location and clean
- Bianca (10/5): Small but exceptional stay in perfect location - The rooms are very small, but it’s the best use of space I’ve ever seen in a hotel. Somehow, you had absolutely everything you need in the room. Bed is on the smaller side but still very comfortable.
The reception staff were very nice, understood us and our requests and spoke English perfectly.
The location was optimal, a few minutes walk to the underground station and in Chinatown which was fun to walk around at night.
Exceptionally clean.
- Jenny (1/5): If you stay here keep a close eye on your credit card transaction.Holidays should be relaxing not about having to raise - Location is great I was charged twice on my credit card. Once for n check in and again when I checked out. Contacted the hotel and did not get a response until after I had raised a dispute with my bank.
- Bor-in (8/5): Very good -
- Brigit (8/5): Nice, clean, good location but small - The hotel is clean and the location is good. The bed is comfortable. The morning staff is friendly! The bathroom door design is embarrassing if you're going with friends: That's glass door and whatever you're doing is super visible to the others. And the sliding door can only cover on area of the bathroom at one time: shower room or the toilet.
- Fulvia (8/5): Very good - Staff is very kind and the location is very good and close to everything. The room has all the facilities included kettle, hairdryer and toiletries. I love the very modern design and everything was very clean. The room is very small. It looks more a corridor but apparently this is very common in Singapore so considering all the other good sides I would definitely recommend it anyway.
- Nadya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (9/5): all good and exactly as advertised and delivered - n/a nothing
- Bernard (8/5): Very good -
- Tomwkli (8/5): Good value for money hotel in Singapore, beware of the lack of privacy when using the shower/toilet! - Great location just a short walk away from Maxwell hawker centre. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was cosy and clean, and was well optimised for the small space. Plenty of amenties nearby. Nearest MRTs are Outram Park and Maxwell so access to Gardens in the Bay, Marina Bay Sands and the airport is very easy (and cheap compared to the rest of Singapore). Best value hotel we found in Singapore. The shower/toilet facility in the room was efficient for the space with a single sliding door but lacked privacy due to the clear glass and numerous mirrors (which wasn't a big issue for us a couple but could be for others). May be a bit too cramped generally for some guests despite the numerous nooks and crannies available for bag/luggage storage.
- Kate (8/5): Very good -
- Shagun (10/5): Amazing stay, worth a try if you're visiting Singapore - The hospitality, the comfort and the clean bedroom made it a delightful stay. There was nothing that I didn't like. Just perhaps the smallest room on the ground floor could have a better ventilation system so that it doesn't become too claustrophobic.
- Paolo (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (8/5): Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a larger room - Location and the staff, especially Alfred ✨and Prince at the Cove next door. The cleaning staff were also kind and wonderful. There is a wonder deck you can relax on. Quite lovely. Restaurants near by. Close to attractions and MRT line. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a larger room and breakfast would make it even better. Can feel when metro goes under building but that’s also really cool part of Singapore.
- Ioanna (7/5): Good - Great location, very friendly staff and free laundry available! The air con wasn’t working… and the stairs to get to bed were deadly
- Toeystory (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): An amazing stay with amazing hospitality! - Exceptional! Exceptional! Exceptional! We loved it here it was a short stay between flights but I can’t wait to go back. Alfred you are a special person so helpful going above and beyond! You are the definition of good hospitality!
The facilities here are amazing, so clean, sleek and modern.
It was my partners birthday and they got him a cake so unexpected and appreciated! Thank you for the perfect stay to end our travels. We will be back and I hope to see you again Alfred :) Nothing to comment on- it was amazing
- Inayah (9/5): Very cute hotel in great location with top notch staff - The staff are really friendly and helpful, and professional. They helped me when I had an issue with the room and moved me to another room. They also provided excellent recommendations for where to go to eat.
Location is amazing - beautiful area in historic Chinatown. There are so many options within easy walking distance: great coffee places, local kopitiams for some kaya toast, Maxwell Hawker centre for delicious Hainanese Chicken Rice and many more. Chinatown shopping district is also a short walk away, so convenient.
The rooms are very cute and well designed, albeit a bit small - it was fine for me as a solo traveller but if I had stayed with a partner I would have struggled with the lack of space. The shower was great - good water pressure and temperature control to get it perfect. Also loved the RITUALS products provided and the convenience of using the washer and dryer for free in the self service laundry downstairs. The bed was comfortable but the pillows are too soft - I woke up with a crick in my neck. But this is common with hotel pillows unfortunately. I didn't sleep very well due to the pillows.
Also the room windows do not open and after a shower the whole room mists up as there is no strong ventilation in the bathroom. Unlike what others mentioned, the rumble from the MRT didn't bother me to be honest.
- Emily (7/5): Good -
- Isabella (8/5): Great for a short stay due to size of rooms, great location right in China town, everything’s in walking distance, free - Location, affordable, friendly staff, shower powerful Size of room
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (9/5): Superb -
- Marie (10/5): Cozy, Chinatown hotel with kind staff - A compact, efficient property, that is clean, quiet, welcoming, and perfectly located in Chinatown. The hotel has everything you could need and more with a free washer/dryer onsite, close to the MRT and walking distance to many Singapore attractions. Special thanks to the staff, especially Shahrul who was very kind, helpful, and accommodating, and gave great recommendations for things to do in the area. The lack of a ramp at the entrance and no shower cap in the room. The rooms are small and would have been difficult if sharing with another person, but I expected this from the other reviews.
- Khalid (9/5): Superb - Kind staff anf clean facilities, the hotel is in a very good location, regards to trains, buses and China town. Very small room
- David (9/5): Superb - Room size
- Garbee (9/5): Superb - very modern and excellent location, with lots of hawker centres and metro lines in close proximity rooms were small but manageable
- Dr. (9/5): Superb - The hotel is very nice and the rooms are quite small but it has everything you need and the most important part for me is the staff. The team and especially Shahrul is the best of the best employees that I have come across during my travels around the world. He knows exactly what I wanted, needed and possibly needed even before I spoke to him. Regardless of how much I asked him, he was always ready with very informative and clear answers. I wish he proceed a career in training staff in top notch hotels, resorts and restaurants globally. The trains sound
- Aki (7/5): Good - The staffs were nice and the location is perfect! I should have looked closer when booking.. but the bed on the loft was quite hard to reach especially after very busy travel-day 😂
- Pearl (8/5): Very good - Great location next to Maxwell station. Tiny but tidy room. Would not recommend for 2 people, or even 1 person if you have a lot of luggage (barely room for 1 carry-on suitcase). The rooms facing the street are noisy until 1am with multiple bars blasting music including the rooftop bar across the street. I changed rooms to one not facing the street, which was much quieter.
- Majyojojo (8/5): Very good - Location was great and staff were helpful It was so noisy at night, we couldn't sleep till 2am
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Location very near to MRT station was best to travel, but also consistent hear the MRT sound.
- Andreas (8/5): The Claude Hotel offers stylish rooms, great service, and a rooftop pool, though rooms could be larger. - The Claude Hotel in Singapore offers modern, stylish accommodations with great service and a central location. Rooms are well-designed with high-end amenities, though they could be a bit more spacious. The rooftop pool provides stunning city views, and the on-site restaurant serves excellent cuisine. With easy access to key attractions and transport, it's a solid choice for both business and leisure travelers.
- Alistair (9/5): Great place to stay in Singapore - A great modern boutique hotel in a convenient location close to several train stations. While the room I had was compact, it made great use of the available space with many little cupboards and a large space under the bed for suitcases. The bed was extremely comfortable and gave me a great sleep every night. Probably one of the best I’ve ever slept in in a hotel!
The bathroom is excellent with a large shower area. There was a blocked shower drain when I used it for the first time, but that was quickly resolved by the cleaning staff.
The staff at the front desk were very welcoming and happy to answer questions.
The free washing machine and drier were an unexpected bonus and very helpful!
- Yingyu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catalin (9/5): A nice short stay - Nice, clean hotel, good location Room is actually very small for 2 people; would fit better for 1 person
- Naomi (9/5): Superb - Color of interior
Stunning and feel comfortable Little bit narrow space
- Marie (10/5): Excellent. Thank you! - Staff were super helpful and friendly. Very accommodating.
- Sutthiwat (9/5): Superb -
- Callan (10/5): Great for short business travel - Very comfortable and clean but very small rooms as to be expected in central Singapore Room could be slightly bigger. Nowhere to put my suitcase
- Martin (8/5): Small stylish and quiet boutique hotel in Chinatown. - A small and stylish boutique hotel in the quieter southern end of Chinatown. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. My deluxe double was fairly small but had everything I needed for an overnight stay. The rumble of the MTR was fairly intrusive in the early morning. Otherwise I liked it very much.
- Eshwar (8/5): Very good -
- Cheuk (8/5): Very good -
- Kye (9/5): Superb -
- Andreas (6/5): Tiny rooms with comfortable beds, great location, windows don’t open, AC too drafty even on high temperature settings - Clean rooms, great location, friendly staff, washer and dryer included, we got windows although we had booked windowless. The rooms were too small. 9-10sqm meant in this case just enough space for a (comfortable) double bed, a sink right next to it and a transparent enclosure for the toilet and shower. Although we could not really move around, that wouldn’t have been an issue and we knew about it when booking the room.
The surprisingly big problem was the air quality in such a small space that also holds a shower. Although we had two large windows, they were locked and couldn’t be opened even an inch wide, so that the only way to circulate the air in the tiny room was via the AC. Without it, the air was used up within three hours and, of course, became incredibly damp after showering because the shower space had no separate ventilation and had to be ventilated through the room. The AC settings were very limited so that we had the choice between no air exchange at all or a constant cold draft directed right at the bed that made me sick after one night.

- Diyanah (9/5): I would stay here again. - I liked the cozy rooms though they were slightly small. The staff were so easy to deal with and very accommodating. I had some trouble with the controls of the room but everything was modern. The bed was heavenly. The room was a bit small but since I only stayed for 2 nights, it was sufficient.
- Suvi (8/5): A good place to sleep for a solo traveler. - Small, Compact room, comfortable, included all needed. Drinking water downstairs. The humidity stayed inside after shower. No windows (in my room).
