Guest Reviews
- Michele (6/5): - Helpful staff, easy access to countryside and coast. Needs some TLC, pots of dead box on the patio, no milk for tea in the room, to not working.
- Simon (8/5): - All the staff were lovely and helpful. Food was very good. The room felt expensive for what is was.
- Andrew (7/5): Comfortable for a short stay - Location and a comfortable room. Food was also good in the restaurant/bar Noticed the air extract in the bathroom looked like it had months of dust built up around it. It was an indication on details and thoroughness to be wary of
- paul (6/5): - Quirky....... lovely building ... good location if you like walking or driving Too quiet. Staff not always available. Food just above average. A unique location but acquired taste i suggest. Beer choices not great.
- jenny (7/5): Room was very comfortable and staff were friendly. The location was perfect for exploring the local area. - The location and staff were friendly and welcoming
Breakfasts were good The room overall seemed a little tired. The patio area outside the room could have been swept and cleaned.
Bedside table lamp was without a bulb.
- John (3/5): - picturesque setting On arrival the room was freezing , it took 3 hours to get some heat , sat in our coats reading
The roast dinner in the restaurant was a real challenge , meat was tough , potatoes hard , £8 + £1 additional charges for having a meal in the restaurant where you are staying ?
- JAMIE (7/5): Nice, convenient and pleasant. - Convenient Booked in 08:30 for following morning breakfast bacon had d no been delivered.
House keeping were a little keen to do their bit ahead of time but I suppose that’s not a bad thing.
- Glenn (10/5): -
- Futter (8/5): - Very comfortable bed Shower seal in parents bathroom caused water to leak everywhere, should really have been rectified before we arrived as they were aware there was a problem
- doug (10/5): -
- Martin (9/5): comfortable, friendly and good value. - cooked breakfast superb
- Tania (10/5): Lovely stay for a special occasion - Tastefully done, thoughtful details, comfortable
- Garry (9/5): -
- David (10/5): The best weekend - Everything about the stay was amazing the staff were exceptionally so!!!
- Robert (8/5): - Lovely position, nice rooms and garden Thought the choice of drinks was a little restricted also the evening menu needed more not enough use of local foods and portion size not great fish and chips was the size of a large fish finger.
- David (7/5): Enjoyable, but bathroom needs improving and cost a bit high. - Good food, nice accommodation, kind and helpful staff. Bedroom as expected as we have stayed here before, but the shower had no hand held attachment and was underpowered. No whoosh!
The price for b and b was expensive for a pub.
- Isobel (9/5): -
- Claudia (7/5): -
- Galena (8/5): In general very pleasant stay and very lovely staff. - I like the style of premises, the greenery and the outdoor restaurant. The things that I found not very confortable in the room were the low bed-mattress was slightly tilted and the lack of a portable shower in the bathroom.
- Kaye (8/5): Lovely location - Location is lovely and friendly staff
- Edward (5/5): Passable -
- Pauline (7/5): Good -
- Anthony (8/5): A lovely friendly place to stay - Great location, super friendly staff, food was very good Small niggle our bedroom quite cramped
- Chase (8/5): Lovely stay bedroom and accessories was great very nice couple of nights. - Food was great, staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was very comfortable. The bathroom in the white room really does need a deep clean. The sink had hair in it upon arrival and the shower base and shower screen really should be much clearer. The natural stone floor should be throughly scrubbed and dried out. This really isn't being done, and it really let the room down.
- Margarita (10/5): The room was rather small but beautifully decorated. Seems like every details picked by hand. There also was a spacious - Beautifully decorated room. Everything is hand picked, gives it a special charm. Food at the restaurant was delicious. The room looks smaller than in pictures.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Marian (9/5): Enjoyable. - Comfy bed. First class breakfast
Friendly staff Steps to reach room
Toilet rolls poor quality (minor thing)
- Sonia (9/5): Thank you all for a really lovely stay... - The food was exemplary and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We have been going to the Wiverton Bell for nearly 20 years and have never been disappointed with the food. To plan an overnight stay was lovely and everyone made it so special for my husband and I ...... thank you all
- Rebecca (8/5): Very comfortable stay - Fab breakfast
Lovely staff
Cosy dog bed Bathroom VERY small and shower not well cleaned
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Cosy Norfolk Dog Friendlh retreat - Really cosy. Really dog friendly. All staff were excellent and made our stay special.
- Julie (7/5): Mixed, staff were brilliant but the isolation of the Hotel didn't suit me. - Breakfast was very good, great choice, cooked well, friendly service. Lack of Heating in the bar/restaurant. There was a problem with the heating in the general areas and the open fire couldn't reach the restaurant, some large heaters for temporary use would have made it more comfortable. Surroundings were far more isolated than I had realised, felt walking with dog was difficult with no paths or street lights.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Lindsay (7/5): Good - Brilliant staff Uncomfortable bed, very soft mattress and short in length
- Tanya (9/5): Perfect - Perfect quaint pub with fabulous food on the north Norfolk coast Nothing
- Ben (10/5): I have booked again for the end of March and will continue coming back. - The place was stunning. Nice location, pretty, great food, brilliant service from all the staff, very welcoming and a beautiful room. Can’t fault you at all.
- De (4/5): Ripped off - Staff was excellent, the bed was comfortable We stayed in the Deluxe double room with bath, is supposed to be the best room, but unfortunately is not worth what its being charged for, in the top floor you have to walk hunched over as the ceiling is too low, also, because of this you cannot stand in the bath at all.
When we wanted to take a bath, It took 30mins to “fill” the tub, after this time, the boiler run out of water, so we couldn’t even fill it up completely, and if we fill it with more cold water… it wouldn’t be a hot bath anymore….. very disappointing.
After this, we tried to enjoy the bath, but we couldn’t even do that as the lighting in the bathroom was too bright, we tried to turn off the lights and light a candle that we saw in the living room, but unfortunately the room didn’t had matches or lighter.
Another thing, the room fridge was completely empty, not even a water of courtesy,
We stayed the previous days in hotels around the area, paying around the same fare, and they would come with complementary drinks…. And free spa access, so as I said, room is not worth the £200 they charge for.
This room felt more like a cheap Airbnb, not like a 4 star hotel.
- Alvin (6/5): Ran out of porridge oats, served a previously opened jar of jam, had to remind waitress that a tomato was missing, all m - Location Poor attention to detail. Needed better management
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Sheila (9/5): Love the location, peaceful yet lively hotel/pub. Enjoy walks from hotel no need to use car. - Breakfast served in restaurant excellent and much better than when it was previously served in your room.Welcoming, friendly staff. All meals were excellent, particularly the lamb dish.
- Dawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevyn (6/5): Great location, very pricey for the size of room. - Great location The rooms are much smaller that photos show, bed was very low indeed and very warm with only a very small window for ventilation.
- Jill (8/5): Very pleasant - Very good breakfast, very professional staff. The road noise - but it's a pub on a road so they can't do anything about that! The room was quite small re value for money and the shower door was awkward. Would have appreciated bottled water in the room.
- Chloe (8/5): Very good -
- Shears (10/5): Our stay was just lovely from beginning to end. - This is a little gem of a place with friendly staff, beautiful rooms and lovely food. Our room came with a little balcony with a tabke and chairs overlooking the garden which was an added and welcome surprise. The breakfast was delicious and the setting peaceful and very well maintained. They are dog friendly which I liked as I own dogs but I wouldn't say it would be a problem for anyone not so keen as its very well set up to cater for both those with and without dogs. It was just a lovely experience all around. I didn't have any complaints .
- Helen (9/5): Thank you - An ideal location, comfortable room, helpful staff and substantial meals. Very quiet at night. A very relaxing stay.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good -
- Martini (9/5): A very nice short stay with lovely friendly staff. - Local to where my business meeting was.
It was clean and mostly nicely presented . The front elevation needs tidying with cracked render and peeling paint.
- Peter (7/5): Average - Lost the ambience pre new owners. Staff polite but not interested in residents. Seems to be all about food covers. No after meal place to relax, unlike before. Food bland and overpriced, drinks extortionate. Room very dangerous as bed in eaves and sloping roof beams, banged head on turning over and i am short. Did not like the dog hairs on the sofa, dark clothes covered in them.
Sorry but has lost its magic!
- Gill (9/5): We had a lovely relaxing time and I’m sure we’ll be back some day. - Cosy clean and comfortable lovely decor and wonderful food Bathroom doors not good in the library room. (Not proper door and no handles) Wardrobe door knob broken.
- Caroline (10/5): Relaxing stay in a beautiful hotel - Lovely pub, room beautiful staff very helpful and welcoming Nothing
- Tawney (7/5): Good -

- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Terri (6/5): Disappointed did not meet our expectations. - Location
Ideal for walking to the coast The room was chilly, dated heater .
Had to ask for toilet roll ,resident cobwebs & dead flies on windowsills .
No milk provided for tea ,coffee machine unpredictably .
Evening meal booking 6pm ,had run out of several options
Breakfast again “waiting for food delivery “
No where to sit & relax for a drink after meal entire place just for dining at tables .
Only saving grace friendly staff
- Ross (7/5): Good -
- Keith (8/5): Pleasant - The staff were very friendly. We stayed in the panelled room. It was a nice little room. The meals were very good. Breakfast was also good. No kettle, tea or coffee in the room. No instructions on how the heating worked, so it was a bit cold until we worked it out. The DVD player, or the disks we tried, didn't work very well, and there were no batteries in the DVD player remote. We had to take them out of the TV remote. There was a slight damp smell from the bathroom.
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (10/5): Hidden Jewel - The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food also was exceptional. Good location and easy parking. Our room was very comfortable and just as described. Could do with a different lunch menu or maybe lighter options.
- Roisin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (7/5): Superb country pub and restaurant in an idyllic little village. Very good food with cozy rooms.. - Lovely country side location with a cozy bar and restaurant which was great as we stayed in the winter time The room was far to hot when we arrived as the thermostat was set at 30 degrees. Our was in the roof space so the temperature didn’t get to a comfortable level for us.. the bathroom didn’t have a door but ‘saloon’ style doors which didn’t give any privacy when using the loo..!
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Julian (9/5): Superb -
- Andy (9/5): Superb -
- Nigel (8/5): Very good -
- June (9/5): Very comfortable room and good food. - Excellent Difficulty getting up stairs with luggage.
Arthritis in feet aggravated.
- Freddie (10/5): Amazing and would stay again - The rustic and old feel of the accommodation yet not feeling dated, the breakfast was great and bed was comfortable The dark country roads surrounding this accommodation and the off site car park
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Perkins (9/5): Brilliant stay. - Room was very comfy large Bed
And a large dog Bed too.
Large walk in shower with everything we needed. Nothing not to like and weather was Brill.
- Valentina (6/5): Pleasant -
- John (8/5): Very good - Breakfast very good with good service Prices for dinner were a little high for the standard and selection on the night we stayed.
- Ian (7/5): Comfortable accommodation but not cheap. - Good choice for breakfast.
Bed very comfortable.
Towels large and soft.
Soap and shampoo provided in large bottles reducing use of single use plastic. Breakfast service very slow despite pre ordering the day before.
Bar area very small as room given over to dining.
Large group catered for at dinner in the main restaurant and were very noisy - why not place them in the 'conservatory'?
Sharp practice of adding service charge to dining bills for residents.
Ever changing staff members.
- Damon (9/5): Superb -
- Julian (8/5): Really enjoyable. Nice room. Good food & friendly staff. Thanks!! - A nice modern approach to the old. Shabby chic done well. Very comfy with good mod-cons Their own booking system didn’t work.
- Katharine (10/5): Short but sweet, would recommend - I grew up one mile down the road and have seen many changes over the very many years I lived and visited the rea to see my family who live around the corner.
the room was very comfortable and very clean and staff very welcoming last orders for dinner 8pm, a little later would have been appreciated
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Doug (5/5): Passable - Location Room poorly designed, shower a trickle, food not generous and far less interesting than previously.
- Dianne (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (6/5): Adequate but need improvements as descibed - breakfast was mediochre, not really well organised or served,( no breakfast buffet) only one member of staff serving and he was new and not properly trained by management. We had trouble checking out with paying for dinner , (our hotel was prepaid,) and receiving out Chestnut Group points. I think we still have not received them. Parking is also awkward across the road away from the hotel. Room was adequate but cleanliness not great with long hairs hanging off the bedside lampshade. Also the doors to the washbasin and shower room did not have a handle or knob so was awkward to open(Library Room) . Outside at the back entrance it all looked a bit scruffy and also in the garden and needed a good tidy up . see previous comments
- Lotte (9/5): Superb - Lovely hotel, would 100% come back
- George (9/5): Great accomodation and food, would go back again - Room very cosy, outside table and seats great for view over countryside and sitting. Dinner very good as was included breakfast.
- Richard (8/5): Very good - Quiet spot very near busy North Norfolk coast
- Christine (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was good and the waiter was very helpful. Location is very good for walking and the weather was perfect while we were there. Parking was a concern being away from the accommodation , especially when you hear people about very late at night after having alcohol and very noisy when passing or leaving pub.
- Anonymous (10/5): It was lovely - The rooms, the food, it was a lovely place to stay with a really good atmosphere
- Debbie (10/5): Great weekend in the lovely Wiveton Bell in beautiful Norfolk - Lovely spacious bedroom with a lovely bathroom, good breakfast and dinner and lovely location. No footpath access to nearby Blakeney, although you could hop in the car and be there in 5 minutes and walk from there.
- Saoirse (10/5): Cosy, clean, peaceful place to stay - Cosy, home from home, quiet, friendly staff, comfy bed, good shower. Quiet rural spot close to the beach 😃 Nothing
- Anonymous (5/5): Very Average - Nice location Breakfast was a shambles. Asked for a bowl of cornflakes all they could offer was a packet of powdery Alpen.
Also requested a continental breakfast and was served 2 pieces of toast. Had to ask for a croissant.
Brought out my wives granola and scrambled egg on toast at the same time.
Room was tired and not the cleanest.
