Guest Reviews

- Daniel (9/5): Wonderfully quaint boutique hotel right on the lake - Warm, dedicated and professional team, lovely breakfast, very stylish restaurant with lake view
- Michel (8/5): Romantic hotel with a nice terrace along the lake - The hotel is a legend in Velden, it is a very old hotel which gives it it's unique atmosphere. Many guests make notes on the 'outdated' rooms in the reviews, but this hotel is keen to keep the spirit of the old times (but some carpets could use an upgrade). So don't expect modern rooms. If you can't appreciate this uniqueness then book another hotel. They do have some modern rooms, the Superior rooms and this was the room we booked. Very modern, cozy, comfortable and airco. The rest of the hotel and grounds are very charming, you step back into time. Very charming terrace to have the breakfast from the extensive buffet or enjoy your afternoon cake. The area along the lake is very nice, enough comfortable lounge beds and a very hip and trendy restaurant/lounge. The hotel is located along the main road so enough shops, restaurants and bars around you, all within walking distance. The staff was very helpful It was a shame that the cocktailbar was closed since we were just there out of the busy season. We did expect a coffee machine in the room for this price.
- L (5/5): Not totally unbookable, but no 4-star and need for improvement - The outdoor areas were really nice. The main restaurant (Rose Garden) was beautiful and also the beach area at the lake was great. Parking was free. Have to add here that two members of the staff were extraordinary friendly but the rest fits in my dislike category. First there wasn’t the slightest bit of necessary information (where/when breakfast/ infos about the outside space and the restaurant/ location of our room) at check in. Further through our stay most of the stuff was rather unfriendly to rude (we asked if it was possible to sit at a certain table for a coffee and didn’t get an answer… instead the tablecloth and the plates were angrily removed and the lady walked away(it was 14:20 the dishes were for dinner). Our room was questionably cleaned as we spotted black mold in the shower, the bedsheets were dirty and the general overlook of the room was rather disappointing (really advantageous pictures on the website). I have to say we didn’t complain on spot as we were only staying for two nights and the hotel was just a little stop when looking at our full vacation but still we were really disappointed especially considering the price we payed.
- Dennis (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (8/5): Nicely furnished hotel but the central location didn’t make up for it being noisy. - It was centrally located and had secure parking. Amazing breakfast catering for all dietary needs and tastes. Noisy room on the side of the hotel. We took in consideration that we were stayed during European bike week and there were lots of bikes up and down the road but traffic noise started early morning with large lorries passing the hotel. There was no air conditioning so we had to have the window open to keep cool. The bathroom was very small.
- Doug (8/5): Very good -
- Vadim (9/5): Superb - Breakfast is good, location and private beach perfect!!! No elevators and we have to carry our luggage by ourself. Nobody helped, even not offered !!! Because it old building exists strange smell in corridors and halls.
- Skip (8/5): Very good - The hotel and the property were wonderful. The hotel itself was a bit dated and could use a refresh.
- Liane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Manfred (7/5): Good -
