Guest Reviews

- Adam (9/5): A lovely property in a fantastic location - Accommodating and friendly property manager/point of contact

- Orit (2/5): Letdown - We were three women staying for what was supposed to be a three-night vacation, but the experience was extremely disappointing.
The apartment was very dark, old, and looked nothing like the photos – a major letdown from the start.
The front door couldn’t be closed properly, even after trying with the help of the contact person. The air conditioner remote didn’t work, it was very hot, and there was no hot water to shower.
Although the location is excellent, the apartment’s condition was unacceptable. The contact person said he couldn’t send anyone to help until the next day, so we had no choice but to leave that same evening.
We absolutely do not recommend this place
- Faisal (6/5): - Good place but not for families.
Pros:
Only 1 step down and you enter the house.
Close to pubs and bars and late night music and sound
Good for singles and couples who would like to have a good time in the city
Good ventilation within the house.
Cons
Not good for family
Place was clean but not clean enough
Backyard/patio cannot be used its more storage then a patio.
I think the place needs a major renovation to attract more people.
Our host was kind enough to meet in person do a quick tour and help us out with extra towels etc.
Fyi - its italy so dont expect uber or taxi to drop you off on the steps of the door.
- Susan (7/5): Great location, adequate accommodation with wonderful courtyard. - The location was great. We enjoyed the lively neighborhood. The tram and grocery stores are just a few blocks away. There is a small courtyard out back that is nice. Overall the property is a very adequate basic accommodation. The coordination to meet for the keys was difficult and we had to wait outside for about 30 minutes. It appears this property is owned and or managed by a group and the person that met us was not very familiar with the appliances. The TV and washer were really difficult to operate and he didn’t really know how they worked and there were no user manuals or instructions. The second bathroom is clearly an addition and very small. The shower stall worked out better in that bathroom than the shower in the tub in the other bathroom as water did not end up all over the place. There were a few things broken and/or not functioning well - we left them a note on the blackboard in the kitchen about that. Previous guests clearly like the place from the note they left. It’s a nice enough place, but nothing special except the courtyard and the neighborhood location.
- Garreth (9/5): Overall we had a wonderful stay. Brilliant location - right in the heart of Trastevere - The location is perfect! Some of the doors need trimming down or adjusting as they scrape quite badly on the floor.
- Hannah (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (8/5): We had a great time and were comfortable. - Very charming with a lovely little patio and within walking distance yo everything. There is a restaurant right outside the door that’s open until midnight and could be quite loud. We couldn’t hear it from our bedroom but one of our sons was sleeping on the pull out couch which is right next to the exterior door. The food was pretty good there though.
- Ricardo (7/5): Great apartment in Trasteveri with a garden - The location and the garden are the best things in the apartment. It is located at the heart of Trasteveri's action at San Castillo's square where bands play and there are busy bars. The city garden in the apartment is simply amazing. Great venue to unwind with friends after a nice city walk. Apartment is quite spatious with two rooms and a nice sofa bed in the living room. The host can make many improvements to enhance the experience in this nice apartment: (1) provide minimum amenities in the house like soaps, washing liquids, toilet paper, shampoo and soap dispensers in the shower, (2) provide more confortable furniture in the garden; it can be made significantly nicer; (3) ensure the place is clean; one of the restrooms had many ants
- Scanlon (10/5): Great communication, excellent location - Location was fantastic for everything we wanted to do.
- Erik (7/5): Good - Location Bathroom
Everything is very old inside, not very clean
- Yana (10/5): - The place was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The communication with the hosts was great. They were very accommodating. I would stay at the property again!
- John (10/5): - We truly enjoyed our stay there ….but being there three weeks and the price I paid it would have been nice if they came and cleaned it during our stay ….it was rather noisy in the late evenings
- Petia (10/5): - Outstanding experience. We stayed for about a week and loved every moment we spent there . Great communication -we arrived early and so thankful for the opportunity to check in early. The grotto on the back of the house is absolute favorite.Thrue Roman way of leaving. We felt lucky we stayed at this ‘not so old’ just 19th century house. Absolutely and sincerely recommend the property
- Tracy (7/5): A lovely stay but not everything quite as described on the website. Photos quite flattering. However, even knowing the s - Location was superb.
Very comfortable beds. Bathrooms a bit tired. In the en-suite the toilet seat was broken and the bathroom was very small. In the other bathroom the shower needed to be directed very carefully.
Courtyard heating would have been welcome.
Electrics were a bit questionable and lighting quite dim. would have been convenient to be able to plug in microwave and kettle at the same time. Some cleaning cloths would have been appreciated.
We were told to separate the rubbish but then couldn’t find anywhere to dispose of it other than public bins.
- Julie (6/5): Just nice - It was by some nice bars and restaurants. Very noisy of a night.
Bit of a treck to the main attractions.
- Indiana (8/5): Very good -
- Stefanie (10/5): Most lovely place - We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this wonderful place. It is a tiny two-storey house of its own in the very heart of Trastevere. We loved the stone floors and wooden ceilings, the pretty kitchen and, most of all, the little garden/courtyard. We stayed in October, but the weather was nice and warm all the time so we always had breakfast at the garden table (lots of supermarkets, the market in Piazza San Cosimato and the fantastic (French) bakery Le Levain are nearby). Also, when we returned “home “ after having dinner in one of the many many restaurants in the neighborhood, we always had a glass of wine in the garden to end our day. There is lots of room in the house (we were 5 people of 3 generations). Everything was nice and clean, and the water in the showers (two bathrooms) was hot and had good water pressure. There is a restaurant right outside the front door, and of course you hear the guests and the staff cleaning up late, but this is the sound of a living city. The restaurant is actually good, we had dinner there twice. Most of all, though, we loved the vibe of this very very old house with its old stone steps that lead from the front door into the living room. We especially aprecciated the fact that we were allowed to check in early, everything was already cleaned and we could move in right away two hours before the normal check in at 2pm. Also, as there wasn’t a booking right after us, we could check out very late. There is a fee of 30 Euros if you check out after midday, but we were happy to pay it, it made our last day so much easier. I would stay again at San Calisto any time. We really loved everything. If anything, I find it a bit odd that you have to pay a fee if you check in on Sundays (25 Euros), but it was mentioned on the website so I knew beforehand and decided not to think about it.
- Debbie (5/5): Location was wonderful and the air conditioner worked well! Good communication to get entry. - Location and great AC There was only one key and you have to lock yourself in or lock yourself out! With multiple people, it was very inconvenient to keep the door locked and others still be able to go walk around. There are two bathrooms, but they are both upstairs. Whole place in need of repair. Broken toilet seat, bedroom door handle broken, bathroom glass shelf about to fall out, broken coffee carafe, only two bulbs worked outside, broken kitchen window, little toilet paper (had to go buy some), trash outside, etc. Would not take much to address the issues. It is a cute place, but the conditions are like a "frat house".
- Kae (8/5): Great location in the middle of Trastevere with easy access to local bars, restaurants and sight seeing - Great location in the middle of Trastevere with easy access to local bars, restaurants and sight seeing
- Micheál (8/5): Very good -
- Stephan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (7/5): Charming but tired house in great location. - Excellent location with great restaurants and bars on the doorstep. Charming authentic character to the house. The man who greeted us, Rafaelle was very helpful and welcoming. The photos of outside and the en-suite need to be updated as not now as good as they were advertised. The en-suite is very narrow and not suited to a larger person. The sink was cracked and black staining on tiles and around window. Very tired and in need of updating. Also not enough toilet paper to last for our three night stay. Outside no fourth seat as in picture and just not as nice as picture. The outside was a big reason for booking this property but we weren’t tempted to go out once. Also during our stay the front door stuck and we were locked in for quite a while until it could be sorted. Rafaelle was very good in sorting this as quickly as he could but all a bit worrying as this is the only exit point. Only one air conditioner control worked. No lighter for the hob (although Rafaelle gave us his bic lighter which was a little tricky to use). Lastly Wi-Fi password had changed but new one hadn’t been left at the house. Despite all above we did enjoy staying there but feel for the money the owners need to invest a little more in upgrading the property and ensuring basics are provided.
- Sajo (9/5): Superb - Awesome location, right in Trastevere. We loved the apartment, a lot of space, cute little balcony and it was great to have a terrace to read or have breakfast outside. We even got some reccomodations and ideas for our stay from the person welcoming us at our home in Rome. Only one thing: It can get noisy for the rooms facing the street as there is a restaurant and people stand directly in front of your door chatting and smoking.
-- But other than that, it was calm and just such a wonderful place to stay! Would recommend without regret! :) :)
- Tarja (8/5): Very good - A cosy apartment with an excellent location. Our contact person was well available via whatsupp and answered promptly our questions. The apartment was dark, especially the living room which felt like a lobby with a door and a small window directly to the street with the sounds coming through. The noise from a pub behind a corner disturbed in the bedroom facing to the street (the other bedroom was quiet). We had some problems with warm water but got advice for that.
- Reno (8/5): very comfortable and a great location -
- Kay (8/5): Very good -
- George (10/5): - San Callisto provided a fantastic base for our latest trip to Rome. It felt like staying in an Italian home. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a washer/dryer, and a wonderful private grotto. It was so comfortable. I really like Trastevere so the location was perfect. It's a short walk to so many restaurants, bars, and shops. The management company was easy to work with and they were super accommodating when covid impacted our initial plans. I couldn't have been happier with our stay and will definitely look to them again.
- Deena (10/5): extremely enjoyable - location fabulous. clean and adequate for short stay. front door was very difficult to open and without my husband I would not have been able to gain access. bedding could have contained a duvet cover also it would have been really nice to have had some basic supplies. the lack of a toilet seat in the bathroom wasn’t ideal. However we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.
- Kine (10/5): Exceptional - a very cute apartement in the perfect area. Good space for 5 people, comfortable beds. It had everything we needed.
- Ester (6/5): Pleasant - The location
Nice Old townhouse renovated in the nineties
Quiet at night too dirty
periods without warm water
one bed with broken down below the madress
- Juliet1000 (9/5): Perfect Trastevere hideaway - Location of this house is just perfect - right in the heart of Trastevere but still quiet and peaceful. The space is fantastic - living area, large kitchen, quaint courtyard and two large bedrooms, one with a small ensuite, and a further large bathroom. We can't understand some of the more negative reviews here - the property was well equipped, very comfortable and extremely clean. We were able to walk everywhere, and there are loads of great restaurants and bars within 5 minutes. It was the perfect spot from which to explore Rome. One more comfortable chair in the living room would have been good - but apart from that we loved everything about it.
