Guest Reviews
- Sarah Forshaw (8/5): Spacious and well maintained. - key code entry which made it easy to access. The cottages are very spacious and great for large families. 4pm check in and 10am checkout. We were able to access a little earlier at 3.15pm upon request.
- Brian (10/5): - N/A N/A
- Donna (9/5): Beautiful cosy home nestled within beautiful gardens and the added bonus of winery onsite. - Administration House was a perfect place for a girls weekend away. Situated within Mason Winery which made it very easy for lunch onsite and wine tasting. The location is also within walking distance to other wineries/distilleries. The house had everything we needed for a comfy stay. Comfortable beds. Heaters in each room to take the chill off too. Nothing. The only thing that would have been useful is some firelighters for the fire and maybe some instructions on how to keep the fire going. Us city gals weren't too good at getting the fire going. We ended up purchasing some firelighters from the local IGA. On the upside the second night someone from the winery came and lit the fire for us which we were very happy about. Apart from that there was nothing we did not like and would definitely recommend. Perfect house for a girls weekend away.
- Kim (7/5): Good location, well appointed house. Staff interactions fell short & created a negative impression. - Spacious house for 3 couples, comfortable and clean. Key collection was an unhelpful and unfriendly phone call. Thankfully the lovely cleaner had just finished and was able to provide us with entry to the property otherwise we would have been waiting outside in the pouring rain at 3pm (check-in was at 4pm which is very late by travel standards). The restaurant next door, although quite full of customers enjoying their long lunch, wouldn't seat us for a drink while we waited an hour to get into the house next door, and the cellar door was closed so no wine tasting. Late check-in (4pm), early check-put (10am). The staff at the restaurant were unhelpful, and the cellar door was unavailable, there was no wine-tasting opportunity as suggested in their host book. Overall, the negative responses to access the house, request a drink at the restaurant or enjoy a wine tasting adversely affected the overall experience and I don't believe we'll be back.
- Gerry (8/5): -
- David (10/5): A great surprise - Great location and well equipped, set in beautiful grounds Some cobwebs in the corners of bedrooms, wardrobes
- Susan (6/5): -
- McColl (9/5): Beautiful house and location. I would recommend it. - Lovely roomy accommodation. Cobwebs and spiders in some corners.
- Eshaya (8/5): Was a lovely stay at the masons winery - Fireplace The shower is abit dated
- Rebecca (6/5): Location and friends were great. - Location. Checkin was at 4pm!!!!!
Due to cleaners - bathrooms were disgusting and had shower scum on all screens taps and shower floor.
- Bernadette (9/5): Would definitely stay again. - Fantastic property. Great for 4 couples and 3 bathrooms were a bonus. No wood for the fireplace on our last day. Luckily, we bought a little of our own wood.
- Karin (9/5): Excellent for groups - Easy check in
Space peace quiet
Excellent winery and restaurant on site
HUGE property
Gorgeous kitchen lounge dining spaces for groups and catering supplies glasses mugs cups plates boards excellent
Bedroom to bathroom ratio excellent Facilties - there was no aircon (normally not a problem at Mt Tamborine) or laundry - didn’t affect us but others may wish to know
- Brad (7/5): Great location for a winter getaway - Great location, Comfortable beds No wardrobes in bedrooms 2 and 3. It needs air-conditioning throughout for the summer.
- Allana (10/5): -
- Catherine (7/5): Spacious house but no wifi - Big n spacious with 4 bedrooms. Parking just outside door No WiFi and some areas not so clean. My friend’s bedroom has spider on her bed.
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Peter (7/5): Enjoyable and good value. - Location and spacious. Some bedrooms were not clean on arrival and coffee machine (water holder) could not be used as it was green on the bottom. Air conditioning throughout the home would be a great improvement although fans were available.
- Johanna (7/5): Regardless the cleanliness we had a good time there - Location was perfect, close to lots of attractions.
We had lunch at Mason's and that was excellent, great chef!
The beds were very comfortable and clean. The hygiene of the cottage was not great. It looked like it was not cleaned properly. We had to clean the kitchen benches because they were sticky. We also had to clean every piece of cutlery, plates, glasses and pans before we used it. We left it cleaner then we found it.
- Naridchaya (8/5): -
- Irene (10/5): -
- Zoe (5/5): If you’re happy to pay good money for a dirty house, then you’ve found the right place. - The property itself was pretty and made for nice photos. The house was dirty. there was toe nail clippings in the lounge room, dust and dead flies all over the window sills, tortilla chips in the corner of the kitchen where the ironing board and broom is, scum all over the shower floors and glass screens, scum all in the bathroom sinks and bath, mould, cobwebs all in the lounge room. The drawers in between the couches with the blanket in it is full of dust.
Was it even cleaned before we stayed there after the last person? Surely didn’t look like it. This was the accomodation for my wedding and it was expensive, $900 for 2 nights for a mould infested and dirty house is not good enough.
- Margaret (8/5): - Warm & welcoming. Perfect for our group of friends getaway. Size, comfy beds, quiet, welcoming
- Chantee (9/5): Cosey cottage, big space - Very beautiful cottage, we did explore much more Needs a salad bowl in the kitchen had to use a pot . Also needs a cheese platter board , also would have awesome to get a free bottle of wine
- Chantelle (10/5): -
- Stephanie (7/5): -
- Jenni (9/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): -
- florence (8/5): -
- Jasmine (9/5): Such a lovely rustic and roomy home to catch up with family and friends - Such a lovely well spaced home for a group of friends to catch up
- Kris (8/5): Awesome location. A short stroll to Cauldren Distiller for Gin Blending/Tasting and a lovely on-site restaurant. - Excellent location
Fire place
Plenty of room
Very very comfortable The kitchen was great but knives were not sharp and not enough large frypans.
- Barillaro (9/5): Location of the property was perfect we enjoyed every minute and we will definitely be recommending -
- MAREE (8/5): My family enjoyed our stay immensely and also enjoyed our delicious lunch at the winery. - N/A There was nothing in the way of serving platters/ salad bowls in the homes
There was no BBQ on either property.
- Roy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mennella (10/5): Exceptional - Location, central; I know the mountain well, so was great not being far from anything.
Relaxing, peaceful and a toilet each
- Sharon (9/5): Superb -
- Roslyn (8/5): Very good -
- Caruana (10/5): Myself and my son were on the mountain for 3 nights and I’m so glad we chose this location. What a beautiful spot. - Such a beautiful location. Nice and quiet with the most beautiful house to stay in. Everything was amazing
- Courtney (9/5): Superb -
- Phillip (10/5): Our stay was sensational, could not have asked for more, nothing was too much trouble. - We had a group of 10 and hired both houses, we have stayed before in only 1 house but for the price and the comfort getting both worked out better for us. The houses have had a lot of attention since we last stayed and were super clean and had lots of great touches like beautiful candles, lots of throw blankets and a fireplace with fully stocked wood you could use. This is a family run business and the owner, and all the staff could not have done more for us. If you stay in these houses you get free wine tasting which is great and you must go to the restaurant for some of the best food you will ever eat.
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Comfy spaces, great layout. Perfect for our group. Beautiful surroundings, excellent value for money
- Kearney (6/5): great! - some drainage issues. manager has fixed.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Wedding accommodation for the groom staff were wonderfully facility was great awesome places for photos
- Tania (9/5): A wonderful stay with extended family- large bedrooms and fireplace well used. - Location perfect -23 steps from the actual winery cellar door.
Beautiful lush green view Showers were not very clean
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location for us. Spacious and comfortable.
- Angela (7/5): Good - Driveway was in really poor condition and in the rain making it hard for bigger vehicles not to get stuck. Trees hanging over driveway cause damage to cars. Some windows don’t close tight cool wind blows in. When there is no firewood or reverse cycle a/c makes it cool off a night. If you have a coffee pod machine you should at least supply the pods or advertise you have a machine at least salt and pepper would be nice.
Don’t think it’s right that someone turns up just to put linen in the locked cupboard inside while tenants are there!
The picture of the house above I’m sure isn’t the house we stayed in maybe it’s a picture of the “reception” house.
- Dan (8/5): Very good -
- Bray (9/5): Overall very good stay/experience. - Not enough tea bags or coffee pods for the number of guests staying.
- Jo (9/5): Comfortable and relaxing - Lovely countryside. Open fire was a plus.
- Phillip (7/5): Nice, but maybe a little expensive given that check in is 4pm, - The check in time was advertised as 4PM which is quite late. Most accommodations are either 2 or at the very latest 3pm. I tried to contact the hosts several times via phone and email asking if it was possible to have an earlier check in, but none were responded to. I used the phone no and email provided to me, This was unforunate.
- Andre (8/5): Great accommodation for several couples to experience what Tamborine Mountain has to offer - The cottage & location was fantastic. 1. Make check in time 14h00, not 16h00.
2. Repair windows (difficult to open/close, some had latch damage leaving the cottage insecure)
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Darren (10/5): A wonderful large cottage in a peaceful serene vineyard, total relaxation. - Great size house with lovely bedrooms and bathrooms, fab kitchen with a lovely setting in the vineyard. Good location in the mountain with lots of walks and cafes close by. Nothing.
- Stephen (9/5): A different family option to visit the Gold Coast attractions without the GC nightlife - The Administration house was well appointed, quiet, very comfortable and suited all of our needs. The facility basically has full kitchen facilities, which is helpful catering to people with specific dietary needs. Lots of positives about the stay... from the laundry facilities to the can of insect spray provided. We stayed in Mt Tambourine as an alternate to our usual stay in the Gold Coast, and we loved the change of scenery and pace. Close enough to visit the attractions of the gold coast whilst offering a peaceful night's sleep. The accommodation did not offer Wi-Fi options, so prepare to disconnect... or use/tether to your mobile.
- Teresa (7/5): Great location and good value, but needs a ramp to be wheelchair accesible - Great location, quiet and peaceful. Listing stated wheelchair accessible. On arrival there is a step to get to front door with no ramp and no other step free access
Had to lift 100kg husband and wheelchair up the step every time we returned to the accommodation
No air conditioning, house smelt musty and bedding felt damp.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jodie (9/5): Amazing location - Neat and Tidy. Well equipped. Fantastic location
- Karen (7/5): Comfortable - It was nice The neighbours where up all Friday night drinking , they where loud and music going until about 6
- Rual (9/5): Very clean and nice views - Location is very good Nothing
- Anne (9/5): Superb - fully renovated, modern appliances, spacious & comfortable in a lovely quiet location. Awoke to the sounds of Kookaburras & beautiful parrots & birds every morning.
- Meghan (7/5): Good -
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Janelle (9/5): We would come again -
- Tracy (10/5): Beautiful cosy house in a gorgeous spot, felt like we were all along up there it was so quiet - Beautiful spot and layout Lack of heating/aircon
- Chanu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paige (9/5): Superb -
- Jeanette (9/5): Superb -
- Kaylah-mae (9/5): Great accomodation! - Property was clean and in a great location. Good communication too, with easy check in instructions. Amazing price for the amount of rooms as well! No Internet included
- Vicki (8/5): We all had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lunch at the winery was excellent. Thanks for allowing us t - Admin house was excellent Winemakers cottage while great - needs a bit of work. Showers leaked out on the floor, bit of a mouldy smell, a lot of the windows hard to or wouldn’t open. Needs blinds in King suite and some type of cupboard to put clothes/suitcase or anything on. Sink also backed up in the main bathroom and considering the septic smell wafting through pretty regularly think there may be a bit of an issue. BBQ would also be handy.
- Clare (9/5): Superb - Loved the cottage and the tranquil setting. Plenty of space. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Can't think of anything!
- Lee-anne (9/5): So so quiet and private, very relaxing few days with old school friends - Great size house, very quiet location, 3 bathrooms (perfect for our group of women), private As house is self contained, a few every day items, such as body wash etc
- Vanessa (7/5): 2 night stay. - Location was great. Owner was lovely. 1. No soap. 2. No coffee, sugar, tea, milk.
3. Fireplace fan noisy not Woking. 4. No face washers & 1 towel each only. 5. No curtains in living area other guests walked past our house. Winery guests drove up & peered in. 6. Back door hard to open. 7. Splash back not stuck to wall. 8. Kitchen power point loose. 9. Not enough wood. 10. No wifi. 11. No a/c or ceiling fan in bedroom or home. 12. Property not maintained well. Cobwebs outside. Inside everything ageing. Given small amount of wood only.
- Sarah (5/5): Passable - The location was idyllic, we were able to walk to various wineries and the local restaurants. No street lighting but a safe path alongside the road meant this was possible with torches at night time. the space was large for 4 people, private and had plenty of parking. The fire place was a nice touch in winter. Bedding was clean and comfortable. The property could do with some maintenance and love, at first glance all was ok but quite unclean and not maintained. Leaking taps and unswept floors etc. The bathrooms could do with a deep clean and upgrade but were functional for the short stay. The place has huge potential. No WiFi. Cold in winter with only the fire place (if you know what you're doing!) and some electric plug in heaters. Communication was not great prior to stay which was disappointing.
- Lisa (10/5): We had a great time, lovely view out the back too! - Lovely, comfy beds, home-like feeling. Nothing!
- Caitlin (9/5): Perfect Winter Escape - Fantastic location. Beautiful and quiet outlook as it was located within the Winery. Plenty of room for 5 adults and 2 kids. The fireplace during winter was wonderful. We also had a lunch and wines at the restaurant (50metres away) which was delicious.
- Cindy-lee (8/5): Would stay again but felt it hasn’t been cleaned properly prior - Location, outlook Wasn’t clean on arrival
- Mennella (10/5): We're looking forward to visiting again -
- Justine (3/5): Unclean - Location Hadn’t been properly cleaned for months, mould on frypans & on chopping boards, revolting oven, tiles & flooring dirty, stains on blanket, so much not cleaned at all. Overall unhygienic and not cared for at all.
The manager did get us some new equipment when sent photos and said would tell the owners how bad it was.
- Trevor (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (7/5): Great place to stay, plenty to do in the area - It was spacious, had a good kitchen, so we didn’t have to eat out. It was in a quiet area, there were 6 of us, all adults. It was cold better to go in the summer, we couldn’t work out the fireplace when we were first there the owner fixed it for us towards the end. There weren’t enough warm bedding in the bedrooms.
- Amy (3/5): Unclean stay. Would not recommend - The kitchen was beautiful and the bathtub was amazing The house was filthy. The bathrooms were not clean and there were marks and holes in the walls
- David (7/5): Comfortable winery stay - Location. Restaurant. Cellar door. Ease of access when arriving late.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (4/5): Disappointing - The location was amazing. The house was a perfect size for the 8 of us. It fit us all very comfortably. The winery was quaint and friendly staff. The house clearly wasn’t cleaned properly. There were dead bugs, dirt and dust in the cupboards. The fridge was not clean.
The house and surrounding garden needs maintenance.
I suppose you receive what you have paid for.
- Roshni (1/5): Bad -
- Hazel (9/5): Peaceful stay. Home away from home. Clean & comfortable. - Clean comfortable home away from home. Beautiful views. N/A
- Gibson (7/5): The was nice due to the location and the space we had.. however the amenities were average. - I don't recall anything about a breakfast? if breakfast was included then we were never told
The place was clean however the dish washer didn't work and another guests dirty dishes were left in the washer.
No tea towels or face towels were provided and we had to ask for them.
when I booked the property I didnt realize there was no wifi so that was an issue, however it was my fault for not checking.
it would have been nice to have some body wash and shampoo in the shower. it would help if wifi was available and some sought of cable or internet TV, Netflix etc.
- Sharyn (7/5): Once we were inside it was very pleasant! - Key box wouldnt open! Had to contact Booking.com to find out how to get in Discovered keys under front door mat No email to tell me that!!
- Sharon (7/5): Mason winery stay - Relaxing and peaceful. Staff very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the stay. Would stay again. Mould in solitary toilet and main bathroom under wash basins Reported to staff.
Dripping taps. Stains on tiles. Reported to staff.
Unable to reach coffee cups and some glasses as on high shelves. Luckily, I had a step stool. Suggested to staff to put in drawers on island bench .
- Mandy (8/5): Great Stay - The house is big and everyone has their own space. Well equipped kitchen. Beautiful outlook and surrounds Not their fault but it was very hot!! Humid day, the staff were lovely and got us fans (thank you)
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Could have been improved if tea and coffee was provided. Plenty of cups and kettle but no tea and coffee.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bernie (10/5): My family stayed here for two nights. Great vibe. Good sized rooms and a beautiful location. Great value also. - Great feel. Nice size. Needs air conditioning or ceiling fans but still a great place and value was excellent.
- Susan (6/5): enjoyed the house - no breakfast included The bed lost slats, the dishwasher, fridge, washing machine and dryer had problems
- Hall (7/5): Quite nice.Value for money - Not Applicable we didn't have breakfast there More cleaning equipment (mop and bucket ) Fridge leaked but everything was good.
- Jade (7/5): Great to for big groups and lots of space but needs a bit of TLC to justify the price. - Located right next to the winery. Nice large house with multiple bathrooms/big room and lounge share area. Has a fire place for winter and a large dining table which could seat multiple families. Well s stocked kitchen utensils/cooking stuff The exterior is quite ran down and needs some love. Many of the windows would open or were hanging off hinges. No fly screens so couldn’t leave windows open at night. Lots of random junk having around the back of the property (old heaters/car etc). Two of the showers leaked on the floor and one of the lights in the bathroom was broken.
The interior was clean - but for the price we wouldn’t stay again in it’s current state.
- Angeline (8/5): Very good -
- N (9/5): Superb -
- Debbie (7/5): Overall it was a lovely cottage in a quiet quaint pleasant setting. - Very quaint beautiful quiet site. Our cottage was lovely, homely feel. The location was great for us, as it was walking distance from the wedding venue, this was one of the main reasons as to why we had chosen Mason Winery. It is quite a cold cottage, was a shame they didn't have firewood available. However, we managed to source firewood locally. Check-in time was quite late, only allowed to arrive between 4pm - 6pm, was refused earlier check-in i.e. 2pm or 3pm check-in. You also had to check-out between 9am - 10am, no later check-outs allowed.
- Dayle (5/5): Passable - Poor clean - toys lying around in lounge, used sticky plaster in shower, lipstick on main shower wall.
No teabags or milk.
No toiletries.
- Margaret (7/5): Good - Maintenance of building and lack of bowls plates cutlery cooking equipment
