Guest Reviews
- Michael (1/5): A disaster. This property is no longer available for rent but Booking.com apparently lists it - The code supplied open the key box but no keys there. Rang the number supplied on the "Welcome" email. The lady who answered said they had sold the property some time ago and had informed Booking.com but they still list it. I was left without accomodation at 4pm on a sweltering Saturday in late June, I spent a distressing two hours looking for an alternative. A terrible start to a holiday week.
- Tom (1/5): Bad -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Great location clean comfortable and easy check in
- Travelled (7/5): Central to Malvern town , comp - Very close to town where we needed to be for the theatre Very cold when we arrived - need to prep the apartment for guest arrival
- Charles (8/5): Very good - Good location
- Sally (10/5): Vibrant apartment quirky style - Modern trendy apartment every think I needed . Loved the bright colours . Excellent location Nothing happy
- Joanne (7/5): Good value great locatjon - The lighting in the main room was really stark and there were few sockets. Some lamps would be really good. Also the position of the sofa (and a rolled up carpet behind it) made it hard to navigate around the room to the kitchen.
- Lorraine (1/5): Dirty, damp, smelly, unsafe - would not recommend - It had a central location in Great Malvern, shops, cafes and restaurants nearby for ease No welcome information until I chased for it the evening before checkin. Took a while for the host to respond, repeatedly asking me for my checkin time which I’d already provided. Then, on the checkin evening, the host was a nightmare to deal with, shouting at my daughter on the phone (my iPad had auto-filled her phone number in when booking, complete accident) as there was no one waiting at the properly (it’s 6pm, and I’d advised checkin would be 9.30pm which she confirmed via the app)
At 9.15pm, the host threatened to cancel the booking, and made my husband wait for over 20 minutes in the cold and dark late at night, instead of just giving him the key code as a “security precaution” (reservation was in my husbands name, I just booked for him).
Upon finally gaining access, the stairs leading up to the apartment (over 40 steps, not mentioned in the property description) were rickety and uneven, rather dangerous. They were also filthy.
The property was damp, musty and not very nice to be in. There were multiple plug-in air fresheners in every room so the smell was overpowering until unplugged, then the musty dampness really came through. The windows had all been left open and there was no heating on so at 9.40pm on arrival, it was freezing. The heating controls are hidden behind a mirror with no instructions, presumably so you don’t use the heating, which is ridiculous considering it’s December and was 1 degree outside!
The sink was blocked in the kitchen, and there were no creature comforts I’d expect to receive in a property (I stay somewhere at least once a month).
The light cord in the bathroom was around 6 inches below the ceiling so unless you’re 6ft you can’t reach it. I stood on my case which wasn’t a smart idea at all, but I couldn’t see without a light! Clearly the host doesn’t care, as reviews given months ago mention this and it still hasn’t been fixed.
- John (6/5): Pleasant - The property was in a very convenient location, spacious, bed comfortable and the host very friendly. However, I think there were a few things which could have been improved:
the apartment could have been cleaned more thoroughly (also the communal stairs leading up to it);
the kitchen sink seemed to be blocked
the bathroom light chord had snapped and could only be reached by a person over about 5’10” in height
No blind on the lobby window
A suggestion: in the lounge would be nice to have the table near the window to make use of natural light, and the sofa/TV at the other end of the room.
- Graybo (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Joanne (6/5): Pleasant - The location was great and being dog friendly was a necessity
The bed and the sofa were both very comfortable The cord on the bathroom right was so high I could reach it
There was a lightbulb missing in the bedroom
The tv was poor on the main channels
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Location was great. Apartment had plenty of space. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on length of stay. We only stayed one night, so wasn't too much of an issue.
Stairs could be an issue for some people but again just took it in my stride 😃
- Sally (3/5): Tired flat, dirty floors, kitchen sink issues. - Central location.
Nice mirrors. Property was listed as an average 8.0 when I booked but this was not my experience (interestingly it is listed twice more on Booking.com - see Broadlands which had reviews dated up until late Oct-24 which gave an average of 5.8).
Flat is very tired, smells strongly of air freshener, kitchen sink did not drain, bed had broken drawer underneath, dirty floors in bedroom and hallway.
I did not stay second night.
Host says she has changed agents hence previous bad reviews but there is cross over in dates for the reviews and two dirty floors indicates there are definitely still issues.
Host rang me to claim my expectations were too high for price point but a) I stayed second night in hotel opposite for cheaper that included fabulous breakfast b) I have stayed 20-30 nights with booking.com in uk in last 2 years, paid similar and never ended up somewhere like this.
Suggest you read all reviews for all the listings and make your mind up from there.
- Geoffrey (1/5): Our stay was disappointing. - Very central The flat was dirty. The television didn't work. The ice box in the fridge wouldn't open. The lock on the bathroom lock got stuck.
There were no instructions as to how to use the oven. There was a terrible smell of damp in the flat particularly in the bathroom.
The stairs to the flat were dirty and the hallway and stairs were rundown.
- Joyce (4/5): We didn't stay due to chest problem with strong air freshener; unplugged it but still a problem - The location was central for the town. Having to park on double yellow lines to unload. Access to the apartment was up some very smelly and shabby communal stairs. Wifi didn't work. Immediate views were of flat roofs and hotel bedrooms opposite.
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (8/5): Very good - The flat was lovely and spacious and well equipped, and the location was ideal for seeing the town. The stairs were very steep, which wasn’t a problem for us, but may be for a person with limited mobility.
- Avril (5/5): I would not stay there again. - The location was near to where I wanted to be the next day The flat was very cosy but no instructions about how to work the heating. Wifi was good. There could have been clearer instructions as to the exact location of the flat. Giving the street number alone and not informing me until I was about to arrive its exact location, made it difficult for me to find it. I did not look at my phone to discover the info when I arrived. I would have liked that info before I left home. I did not realise that there were so many stairs to get to the flat. There was no lift. There could have been more instructions about the flat in general eg- waste disposal, heating function etc. Parking was not made clear enough that you had only 2 hours to park your car nearby if you found a space. There could have been instructions how to get to the nearest pay parking place where you could leave your vehicle overnight. As I was on my own it was difficult to unload suitcase etc and get it up to flat as there were double yellow lines outside the property. TV worked but I could only get three channels to work properly. Frozen milk was left in the fridge but I did not like the fact that the sell by date was in August! A small bottle of fresh milk would have been better.
- Fiona (8/5): A comfortable stay - The apartment is in a good central location, around 10 minutes walk (uphill!) from the railway station. It's close to useful restaurants and the Waitrose supermarket, and it has lovely views to the hills. The host very kindly provided a list of useful information. I appreciated the list of cafes, and also the fact that the Waitrose supermarket was close by. I also appreciated plentiful hot water and good central heating in the chilly weather. There is a plumbing problem with the kitchen sink, which does clear but only slowly. This is an ongoing problem which the owner is dealing with. There were a number of air fresheners, which personally I don't care for. If staying for longer I would have probably put them out on the landing, but as it was for only one night I didn't bother.
- Danielle (8/5): Very good - Lovely flat, looks like the owners really care and put effort into making it nice! Katie was on call to help when we couldn't find WiFi instructions and was flexible with check out time. Really great value for money!
- Graybo (10/5): Great accommodation - everthing nothing
- Tissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (9/5): Quiet, comfortable night. - Light, elegant flat. Good size rooms. Does indeed have a view of the hill top! Very quiet even though it was a Saturday night in the middle of town. Street door scraped, common stair needs some maintenance. But these are very minor niggles.
- Carla (10/5): Perfect location to visit Malvern - Perfect location, the apartment had all we needed and was clean and comfortable.
The host was friendly and helpful. N/a
