Guest Reviews
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (8/5): Very good - I really appreciated the location in the old town and was very grateful for the excellent support and attention from Sebastian and his brother..They were the most attentive and available hosts I encountered in Ecuador. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable and the hotel had character ... As breakfast was not available but included in the price, they arranged for me to have breakfast elsewhere.and escorted me to the alternative location. There was an issue with the temperature of the water from the shower. Unfortunately it was not as hot as I would have liked but they did offer me an alternative shower. Also the net curtain in the room was showing signs of wear ...it needs repairing.or replacing..I can appreciate that this large and old hotel must present many challenges and admire the initiative and dedication from Sebastian and his brother in taking on the challenge!

- Natalia (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is great!
Good location, city center, not far from the bus station.
Large comfortable room.
Hospitable owner will help with any question. In general, all the rooms in the hotel are large and spacious - kitchen, common area.
Quiet at night. -
- Barbara (9/5): Great. - The hospitality of the owner and his brother. /
- Angela (9/5): Superb - Great place to stay if you are hiking the Quilatoa Loop. We stayed here before and after. Great value for money, close to the bus depot, in a good area close to a pharmacy, restaurants and a beautiful square. The staff were very kind and allowed us to keep our bags there while we hiked. Clean and comfortable. Nothing.
- Simona (10/5): Good stay - Right in the city center! Next to pharmacy, restaurants, shops, main Square.
Nice big enough rooms and with bathroom, quiet clean and hot shower! Towel Is included.
Few different common areas, couches around and also a nice terrace where I could do my laundry, a lot of Place to hang your clothes and they have a dryer! Fernando was really nice and ready to help!
Breakfast was included, you just Need to remind them to refill but they were nice! Simple but good, yogurt, fruit, banana, oat, coffee and tea, bread and jam. Nice big kitchen available to use quiet well furnished. Possibility to leave your luggage for days if you decide to do the Quilotoa Loop! It wasn't busy so no problem about the window view in the inside yard! But maybe It could be noisy.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elissa (8/5): Perfect Base for the Quilotoa Loop! - We stayed here before and after hiking the Quilotoa Loop, and it was exactly what we needed, cheap, comfortable, and convenient. The included breakfast was basic but did the job (just make sure to get there early before the hungry hikers wipe it out). We could store our bags safely for free while we were on the trek, and the place had tons of useful info on buses and the loop itself. Definitely a solid choice for budget travelers!
- Giulio (10/5): Exceptional - Great place, great people, great location. I loved it The Internet was unstable and not suitable for remote workers
- Giulio (10/5): Exceptional - Great place, great people, great location. I loved it. The Internet was unstable and not suitable for remote workers
- Annabelle (10/5): Amazing ! Could not ask for better! - Nice room and very good kitchen well equipped.. staff was ready friendly ! In the center close to bus station ! :) got a private room instead of dorm ! Was really happy about it Nothing everything was perfect!
- Rautavaara (8/5): Great clean place but minus for the Italian lady - The rooms are big and exactly like in the pictures. Beds were comfy, there was hot water and a lot of storage place. The location is perfect and safe. We were also able to do a late check-out (our bus departed at 3pm) which was wonderful and extremely helpful The breakfast works very weirdly, some people posted they got eggs and croisants but we got hard pieces of cold toasted bread and actually had to ask for that as welll. Wanted to have milk with the coffee and apparently there was none left ever and no replenishment available. There is an Italian lady in charge of the breakfast who is very rude and doesn’t care about anything. Because of her it feels like very hostile environment in the common area and she is there all the time on her laptop (the guys in the reception are amazing!).
- Amber (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (9/5): Great hostel highly recommended - The staff who run the hostel were so very helpful and friendly, advising us on local facilities and also on our panned Quilatoa Loop hike. Our luggage was securely stored while we hiked for 4 days.
Large well equipped kitchen with a good breakfast provided. Very clean, spacious comfortable rooms
Excellent location near centre of town and not too far from the bus station.
We would definitely stay here again. Nothing
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -

- Berloune (8/5): Very good -
- Nikki (9/5): Comfortable, friendly hostel in the centre of Latacunga - The location was fantastic, right in the heart of town and only 15 minute walk from the bus station. The breakfast buffet was great, especially as we hadn´t been expecting it. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and quiet nothing to dislike, it was all great.
- Gary (7/5): Gary - Bed was comfortable Horrible smell from bathroom
Breakfast was very sparse
- Anneloes (8/5): Nice hostel, helpful people - Nice hostel at a great location, shops and restaurants nearby and bus station at a 15 minute walk. The people at Rosim were great; they arranged a gluten free breakfast, nice tour to Cotopaxi, we could let our backpack stay during the Quilotoa hike and they arranged a taxi to Quito. The shower wasn't always hot.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthonynod (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (10/5): Perfect place - central and comfortable - The staff are really wonderful. The rooms are large and the beds and pillows super comfortable (we all know how rare that is). The shower and hot water was the best shower I'd had in weeks.
Super quiet and you can't hear any street noise.
Good wifi. I worked from the communal areas with no problems.
Kitchen and common areas are always immaculate. nothing.
- Rosa (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marcin (10/5): Exceptional - Santiago as a host is doing amazing job. He is super friendly and helpful with all the information you need. One day trip to Cotopaxi organised perfectly, we were also able to support local community in their shop on the way to the Vulcan. Recommend as a base to do the trips to Cotopaxi i Quilatoa nothing
- Alejandro (9/5): Superb -
- Jiri (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, Calm place and Close the center. Room was large And clean. Santiago was very helpful, give us great information about trips. And they Have delicious breakfast.
- Daniel (9/5): Great Value Stay! - We only stayed one night prior to undertaking the Quilatoa Loop but really enjoyed our stay. Hostel is simple, clean, comfortable and located near the main square, 15 minute walk from the bus terminal. Added bonus that you can leave your luggage prior to the loop.
Santiago, the owner, was really friendly and provided lots of advice during our short stay and arranged private transport to Banos when we missed our bus.
Great Value and would recommend! Nothing
- Yat (9/5): Superb -
- Jordi (8/5): Great value! - Location, comfy beds, good breakfast, Santiago the manager was very helpful Nothing
- Zhamal (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and good rooms. Very friendly staff. Tasty breakfast.
- Bronte (10/5): Great value and very friendly host! - We stayed here for one night prior to embarking on the 3 day Quilatoa loop hike. The owner/manager, Santiago, was extremely friendly and helpful. Santiago advised what buses we could catch, allowed us to store our big backpacks with him for three days while we were on the hike and generally just had a welcoming smile. We had a double bedroom with ensuite to ourselves and breakfast in the morning and it was extremely good value. I’d highly recommend staying here when in Latacunga 😊
- Alexia (8/5): Very good -
- Travelally (10/5): Exceptional - The location is excellent and the staff are amazing! They were super helpful in helping me organize plans and tours and kept my stuff for me while I was trekking. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the breakfast is substantial. I definitely enjoyed my stay!

- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Tania (8/5): Very good -
- Rees (7/5): Good - Simple but nutritious.
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Bb (8/5): Good choice for Latacunga - We had a very comfortable one night stay at the Rosim Family Hostel. It's an older establishment but our room was clean and spacious. Very quiet location. Good breakfast. Easy location that is within a 10-15 minute walk to the bus terminal. Wifi worked well. Friendly staff. Fantastic price!
- Buyu (10/5): The only choice in Latagunca for all your Quilotoa needs. - Amazing location that's next to the city square. 10min from bus terminal. Secure luggage storage. Courteous staff and onsite tour (Cotopaxi tour is only $35pp with lunch. Recommend as a budget alternative to the Secret Garden offering) information and booking. Good breakfast and a kitchen guest can use.
The hostel is also a sister hostel to the all famous Cloud Forest hostel on the Quilotoa loop that with the same level of hospitality and affordable. Don't miss when you do the loop! Though, I was able to meet people but the hostel was pretty quiet and host shuts the front door pretty early in the evening. It was a bit inconvenient to come back late at night that might potentially wake the host up just to open the door. (It's probably for a security reason, which I do appreciate)
- Ariel (10/5): Exceptional - Room was big, location was great, good breakfast. Room was smelly.
- Flobolous (8/5): Great stay in the city center, good value for money. - It is cheap but the staff is friendly, the rooms are big, the shower is good (not always super hot) and breakfast is included. They keep your luggage for free when going hiking. Don't expect the Ritz for the money... I would stay here again. There was a bit of smell in room number 2 from the sink and room number 5 had some mold on the ceiling.
- Myrna (7/5): Good - The locaties is great, the breakfast is good and the people working there are very kind. Unfortunately, we did not have warm water in our bathroom and there was also an unpleasant smell in the bathroom as well.
- Christoph (9/5): Great basecamp for Cotopaxi or Quilotoa - Perfect location. Early breakfast to allow using the early morning. Good advice on trips by the staff including checking the latest bus schedules. You can also book trips directly at the hotel. Good dinner recommendations. Window of one room did not open. Other bathroom door did not lock initially.
- Vince (9/5): Superb - Reasonable price with free and delicious breakfast. They provide charged laundry service (4 USD). Wifi speed is ok. The location is good in the city centre. Facilities are old. The TV is very small, about 15 inches.
- Katarzyna (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and helpful staff
Beautiful big room for a cheap price
Perfect location
You can leave your backpack for 3 days in you do quilotoa loop, without any charge
- Anne (7/5): Good value, kind people, decent rooms - Very friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast, very big rooms, clean bedsheets.
Everything as you would expect for 18$ for a private room with private bathroom including breakfast - good value for money. Some areas of the room was not that clean eg some black mold in one of the bathroom ceiling, found an old hand cream that wasn’t ours behind a night stand.
Hot water is lukewarm but ok.
- Miras (10/5): I stayed there a few days ago so had no doubts where to stay this time. Was greeted like an old friend. Although for me - That was my second time here so everything was perfect as usual: parking, breakfast, room, attitude. Spot on! Nothing
- Ciaran (8/5): Very good - Great to stay before or after quilotoa loop. Helpful with information and storing heavy luggage for a few days. Could offer breakfast a little earlier to facilitate those going hiking and taking a earlier bus.
- Miras (10/5): It was just sleep over for me, but I wish I stayed longer. Incredible value for money! - Everything. Big room, secure parking, breakfast, location, help of the staff. Nothing
- Eva (10/5): Awesome staff and trips - Good breakfast, very nice and helpfull staff. They helped us with a tour to Cotopaxi and Quilotoa loop trail. Trips was amazing, totally recommend! We could also let our big luggage there while we were on a trip. Also we used a laundry service.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Great value for money, really friendly and helpful staff and good breakfast. I was also able to securely store my bag while I was in Quilotoa and collect it (and my washed laundry) on my return.
The location is right in the middle of town and I thoroughly recommend this place to anyone coming to Latacunga.
- Kobus (8/5): Very good - Location, price for value Spend 2 separate nights there, first was in a smelly room... The bathroom smelled very bad.
- Victor (8/5): Nice place at the center of Latacunga - At the very center of Latacunga, close to the bus station and good breakfast. All you need to experience the city and the vulcanos A little hard to get in at night and the shower was too cold
- Andrea (7/5): Good - Breakfast could improve!
- Rui (9/5): Superb - The people work there are nice. They upgraded me with a single room so it's nice! The bathroom is a bit "tired" but I am fine with it
- Rachel (8/5): Central and friendly with good breakfast and bag storage - Central hotel near the square, 15ish minutes walk from the bus terminal, close to everything. Friendly staff, nice breakfast (included) and free bag storage while we did the Quilotoa loop. Room was strong smelling of a mix of garlic/sewage.
- Seppe (10/5): Exceptional - great price quality
good for one night before doing the quilotoa loop
luggage storage
big and delicious breakfast not really cosy, but okay if you just stay here to go to quilotoa
- Wafaa (9/5): Central, friendly and great value - Central, good value and great breakfast The address on booking was not the actual one. So at night it was very hard to find the hotel
- Sophie (8/5): Nice stay - Clean rooms, nice breakfast, friendly staff
Extra towel provided I’ve been charged each time 1$ more than my booking, still don’t know why..
Water wasn’t very hot
- Felix (9/5): Friendly staff in a bit an older house - - Super friendly and helpful staff, thanks so much again for the support, shower etc.
- got a room for myself though i booked 4-bedroom
- couldnt try the full breakfast but there were fruits eggs etc. - Wifi: there is some reception in the room but internet didnt work.
- shower was leak-warm (not hot)
- glas on top of the door, so light shines in the room from the stairway
- Johanna (7/5): Good - Very friendly, warm welcome of staff, central but quiet hostel because rooms are far away from streets. Big room, big common kitchen. Hostel has lots of capacity for improvement regarding cosy, clean, atmosphere, smell & painting of room
- Domenic (10/5): A very pleasant surprise in Latacunga. - This was a very pleasant surprise. The room we got was huge for the same price as a smaller room, although none of the rooms were too small. Breakfast was great and there were even board games. The location was right next to the central square but not at all noisy. Staff was friendly and helpful, too. It was quite difficult to find, you have to walk through a tamal restaurant to get there. The sign says the name of a different place, but, they were super responsive when we messaged and asked for directions.
- Ana (10/5): Excellent choice for Latacunga - We had a great time. The guys working are very friendly and hospitable. The breakfast and the location were excellent.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robbie (10/5): Wonderful - Absolutely lovely hostel right in the middle of Latacunga! Perfect location for some work preparing to do the Quilatoa loop or visit Cotopaxi - near the terminal (15 minutes walking) and with plenty of shops, bakeries, markets and supermarkets around to buy food and snacks for hiking. Special shout out to Santiago for being so helpful with info on the Quilatoa loop and recommending Allullas, a local pastry typical of Latacunga. Miryam was also very lovely and helpful. Not to mention the breakfast was a treat and kitchen is free to use and very well equipped. Would absolutely recommend a stay here to anyone thinking of coming to Latacunga. Can’t think of anything!
- Matthias (8/5): Very good - Awesome personal
Awesome breakfast
Central location Continuous issues with water temperature (always quick fixes)
- Giles (10/5): Exceptional - Great little hostel, clean, friendly staff, good wifi, good breakfast, comfortable beds, good value for money. Also liked that my room had a bed-side lamp so in the evening I could make the room cosier with ambient lighting. Safe bet if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Latacunga

- Antonella (10/5): Exceptional - Strategic location. The room was comfortable. Breakfast was great. I give a higher rating for location being across from the park and historical churches from tourist center. Great restaurants nearby. Price is super convenient. 10/10 experience!
- Chris (1/5): No such hostal in Latacunga! - There us no hostel at the location indicated by booking.com. They don't answer the phone. I had to search, find a taxi, find a hotel. There is no accomodation by this name in the whole of Latacunga. Reported the problem, still get a review request? They probably cherged ne as well??? There is nothing, and nothing to like.
- Oleg (10/5): Incredible! - Great place for staying in Lacatunga! Good location in a historical building very close to the main square! Helpful and friendly stuff, price is good also.
