Guest Reviews
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - A delightful property, we had the whole of the top floor to ourselves with views of the sea in the distance. A little pricey for two but 4 people could stay here which would have brought the price down.
The four poster bed was a real feature and so comfy too!
Easy walking distance to Porlock Weir and the coastal path.
- Sarah (10/5): What beautiful and unique place to stay. So much history! -
- Kate (8/5): Overall a lovely property … quite chilly on arrival but we lit the wood burner which made it cosier and warm. - Atmospheric and historic building with quality fixtures and furniture and exactly as described. Interesting artwork. Short walk to Porlock weir but wouldn’t want to walk to Porlock village along the narrow road. Felt a bit more remote than we imagined and a little eerie … ate at Porlock weir hotel but that was very odd…food average (though oysters were great) and service also unusual.
- Lyn (9/5): Unforgettable - Unforgettable place, like walking into an old french castle. The bed was without doubt the most comfortable I have ever been in, I had the best nights sleep EVER. Totally silent yet you can walk through fields to a pub and the sea. Wish we could have stayed longer. There was evidence of woodlice and mice about, the people who like 'Four In A Bed' would have had a field day. But we didn't mind, it added to the 'ancient' authenticity. Would have been better for us if there were signs on the doors so we knew which property (and room) we should head for.
- Stephen (8/5): Very special. - A "manor" by history... Amazing wooden doors and old beams and a little library and big garden that you can go on in. At the booking stage, you can choose one or two double rooms from the "suite" which are both located in a separate corridor separate from the rest of the house where the supportive and friendly family live... We never saw them. Sea view from the main bedroom window. Perfect really, but note that it's worth planning the heating so you'll be warm. Clean dressing gowns supplied!
Ps if walking to lynmouth, it's a real long way, and you might want to stay off from somewhere like here (as West as possible!). PPS, the "suite" corridor location access is clearly explained in the "here's how to find the key" instructions , but do read on to find that before arrival.
A really special place, will live in the memory as a high point of the trip. See above
- Virginia (10/5): An amazing stay that exceeded expectations. - We ADORED pretty much everything. The age, location and parking at the property and mostly our splendid main bedroom. We always chose a room based on having a roll top bath as our preference. Having a working log burner was an amazing addition. We both enjoyed the lovely biscuits and madeleine’s provided with the tea and kettle (I’m not a fan of instant coffee, so ignored that offering). The bedding and all linen was of a luxurious quality. Waking up to the view of gardens and sea was a privilege I can’t wait to repeat.
We have already recommended this fabulous place to friends and family. We only stayed one night but having to leave to return home brought on the post holiday blues!
- Claire (8/5): Fabulous room in a character property and super comfy bed. - Lovely feeling of space, heritage and style. Was a little on the expensive side given no breakfast included.
- Zt (10/5): Perfect! - Loved everything! Amazing house, room, hosts, location, linen, bed, facilities, artwork, info, views!
You can feel the history and romance of the environment! Absolutely nothing!
- Lutz (9/5): Superb - very picturesque old Manor house, like hardly altered since hundreds of years. Beautiful garden with sea view. Four poster bed. Mind this is kind of air-bnb, which is not mentioned at booking..com . So You need internet access and have to check Your emails on Your mobile when arriving to be able to get the keys, as the owner is not present. no fridge in the room. Checking of emails to get the keys can be difficult when travelling abroad.
- Nick (10/5): Romantic room with lovely gardens and you can just about hear to hear the sea. - It’s a lovely room in a romantic setting. There are several short walks that get you down to the beach where there is a small shop, good pub and excellent coffee house doing good full and alternative breakfasts. Great base for hikers. All good. We have been before and we will go again.
- Lisa (10/5): I wanted something special to celebrate my husband’s 60th. This absolutely nailed it. We will most definitely book it ag - We loved our stay at Worthy Manor. The room is huge and the bed is as amazing as it looks. There are great walks along the coast path in both directions and a short walk to Porlock Weir for food & drink. Nothing to dislike
- Neil (9/5): Superb - Wonderful old Manor House with lovely gardens and great location. Nothing.
- Clare (8/5): Luxuriously comfortable, secluded location - Lovely setting and ambiance - designed and maintained with care and flair. Loved the quality of the furnishings. Bed linen was billowy and dreamy! Hi We missed not having some kind of kitchen
- Nick (10/5): Lovely romantic environment surrounded by extensive and varied gardens near good pub and cafes - Fabulous quirky suite in an old house. The room is large, enough space for a supersize 4 poster bed, bath tub, fire place and small closet with toilet. There is access to a good rain shower. The room does look over the sea (Bristol Chanel with Wales in the background) but windows in a house this age are not large so it's not a view thats always in the background. Good products/shampoos/biscuits/coffee. Lovely romantic environment surrounded by extensive and varied gardens near good pub and cafe at Porlock weir. Needs a car. The EXMO coaster bus stop is about an hours walk.
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clive (9/5): Great, old property, right on SW coast path. - I had the four poster bed, bedroom. Roll top bath, wood burner and large TV. Very comfortable. Probably my issue, but I thought the property was hosted - so when I arrived, I was on my own for the stay. It just meant I had to leave for food, brekky etc. that said, the remote host was very helpful and responded quickly to messages.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Breathtaking views, gorgeous property
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - What a remarkable place. Great views out to sea and a fascinating collection of artwork and interiors. We enjoyed the gardens and a short walk down to Polock Wier for food. A perfect day's stay.
- Nicholas (10/5): Absolutely fabulous stay - Well what a real treat this was to stay at Worthy Manor. The house is fabulous & so stately looking. Every room was perfect. Our bedroom was heaven on earth. Everything you needed to compliment your stay. The king size four poster bed was magnificent & so comfortable. Log burner was a bonus as well. Truly enjoyed our 2 night stay & hopefully will return in the near future . Going home & leaving such a beautiful house
- Alison (10/5): We had a very relaxing time. The facilities were great. Beautiful four poster bed, free standing bath and a log burner i - It was beautiful, quiet and full of charm. Original features throughout and an easy walk to the beach and to Porlock Weir No dislikes
- Stephen (9/5): A unique and beautiful location, the interior of the Manor is incredible. - We loved Worthy Manor - it’s a perfect combination of experiencing staying at a historic English house and well serviced hospitality.
It’s visually stimulating- from the uniqueness of the property and the artwork on the walls. Everything about it is memorable, it’s something special.
The owner (though we didn’t meet in person) took genuine care to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Nothing
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - Worthy Manor is such a beautiful property, set in a stunning location. It’s well appointed, very comfortable and stylish.
