Guest Reviews
- Lesley (7/5): Perfect location and good for short stay - Excellent location for a family event at a good price for 2 nights with late cancellation options. Exactly as advertised with initial supply of tea, coffee and milk plus lovely cake. Very sociable and helpful hosts, given an interesting tour of the ruined castle before we left
It had all of the facilities we needed for a short stay. Already knew that the bathroom was downstairs but worth mentioning that the stairs are quite steep for the less mobile.
Best suited to short stays due to size and kitchen facilities.

- G (9/5): Lovely accommodation - It was lovely and clean and the setting is amazing. The beds were comfortable and the host was very friendly. There was a lemon cake waiting for us when we arrived, which was very welcome ๐. We would definitely stay again.
- Susie (10/5): Lovely area and the owners were very helpful and welcoming would recommend people to use this accommodation - In a lovely location walking distance to local pub
The owners left milk and home made cake which was a lovely touch Only a small kitchen/lounge area and only facilities for basic catering but was sufficient for a couple of nights
- Jim (8/5): Late Getaway - Fantastic location set in the surrounds of an old historic castle on the edge of a very welcoming village. Some great local walks and many great places to visit, in the surrounding area, that are within a short drive.
- Jo (9/5): Lovely weekend - It was just a lovely quaint little cottage, the hosts were lovely, Natasia took us around the castle grounds which were stunning! The cottage was lovely and warm, the shower was great, the bed was huge! A lovely little cake when we arrived with fresh milk and tea and coffee. Just the Internet wasn't working but they tried to sort it out, it wasn't a fault on them
- Cameron (7/5): - Nice and friendly and nice walk's for the dog plus nice view No gas stove cooker plus no TV downstairs in the living room
- Jane (8/5): Stay was good location very perfect for what we wanted & the owner was very lovely he even gave us a tour of the gro - Lovely location lovely owner we left early down to me snoring & I thought I had booked 2 rooms not 1, but we really enjoyed it everything you need was there.
A definite hidden little gem ๐ Sofa smelt of dogs!
But everything else was fine nice little escape & very friendly people

- Chris (10/5): Beautiful scenic location. - Great spot with the castle just outside the door. Great hosts who took time out to give us a guided tour of the castle and its history. Comfortable bed and great to have a small kitchenette with a microwave and toaster and kettle. Television is small and in the bedroom but this wasnโt an issue as we were out all day taking in what the area has to offer. Parking is under cover right next door. No complaints for the money and close to Castle Howard and the lavender farm๐milk tea and coffee supplied and a nice lemon drizzle cake ๐ Maybe a bigger tv but not a massive issue in the grand scheme of things.
- Irene (10/5): Very quiet, and a chilled stay absolutely fabulous pretty places to vist around the area - Little cottage was lovely, had everything you needed ,milk left and beautiful homemade cake yummy the views were fabulous especially the ruins of the castle, which the lovely owner kindly showed us round . One of the rooms in the castle was intact ,lovely for weddings (my favourite bit ) lots of dog walking and pub just across the field WHAT more could you want Nothing to dislike

- Berkeley (9/5): Superb - We had an enjoyable stay at Castle Court, Nice welcome cake on our arrival and even had a nice little insight of the castle from Natassia, Room was comfortable and no real negatives about the place. Would love to come again one day. Thank you Natassia and Pat Had a lot of trouble with the key unlocking and locking the door but that was probably just us. Other travellers shouldn't have any problems
- Les (9/5): Superb - Clean and very peaceful
- Sally-anne (10/5): Enjoyable and we will be back. - It was very nice and comfortable and had everything we needed and even a special touch of homemade cake. Nice walks for the dog and seeing the Castle was lovely the owners were lovely too We would recommend this place to others and we will be back again. Nothing
- Holly (10/5): Absolutely lovely stay! - Beautiful accommodation in a country setting - hosts were lovely and we loved it!
- Kate (7/5): Cosy Castle Court - My partner and I had a great stay at Castle Court, amazing location and really dog friendly. Found it very tranquil, quiet and cosy. Upon arrival we had some home made lemon cake left for us with a little welcome message which was a really nice added touch. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. An excellent stay and would recommend to anyone that would be wanting to stay in Yorkshire. Really enjoyed our week stay however a couple personal suggestions, I think it would have benefited having a light under the stairs/ sink area, at times we struggled to see due to the positioning of the sink being in a low light area. We found the shower didnโt drain well and had to keep turning it on and off to allow it to drain away otherwise it was a bit of a foot pool.
- Simons (8/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thought the hosts went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. I - The helpful hosts and good position to visit many of my relations. The ruined castle was fascinating. No toilet upstairs
Mattress too soft
- Beverley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jayne (10/5): Lovely - Unusual setting, with castle ruins on the doorstep. Very friendly village. Everything you need for a short stay N/A
- Marina (10/5): Tranquil stay close to castle ruins - I loved the peace and tranquility of the place. The interesting ruins of the old castle on the property fascinated me. The host kindly gave us a tour of the ruins upon arrival. It is just a short walk to the local Pub called The Highwayman Inn. The food there is delicious and the portions are so big that we could hardly finish them.
- Lynda (7/5): Warm welcome in unique quiet location. Ideal to visit York and surrounding area. - Location. Host. Welcome pack. Safe parking. Access to walking. Tour of the castle. Settee uncomfortable. Only a microwave so difficult to do self catering.
- Margaret (10/5): Lovely accommodation. Welcomed with home made loaf cake which was a nice touch. Thank you. -

- Harikrishnan (10/5): Exceptional - We thoroughly enjoyed our four-day, three-night stay at the accommodation. It was impeccably clean, beautifully presented, and exuded a cozy atmosphere. We especially appreciate the gracious hosts who not only provided us with a tour of the castle ruins but also left a delightful cake and some sweet treats for us to enjoy during our stay. Definitely recommend!
- Bridget (8/5): The cottage was well equipped and in a lovely location, we would be very happy to come back. - Natasia was very welcoming and helpful and we loved the location. If you plan a day out in York, I would recommend using the park and ride with buses every 10 minutes and much cheaper than parking in York centre. A couple more spare mugs and glasses wouldn't go amiss and my partner would have liked a teapot and tray. Otherwise it was a great place to spend a few days.
