- rob (8/5): - Heerlijke beneden ruimte met een volledige keuken.
Douche druk is zoals gebruikelijk in Engeland niet echt hard.
Gevoel van gastvrijheid Boven kun je niet rechtop staan.
En het bed is small
- Muriel (10/5): Very enjoyable weekend-Very quiet , peaceful and plenty of outdoor activities. - We liked the location , the facilities-Very central to discovering the Island and neighbouring places of interest.
We really appreciated the milk in the fridge, home made cookies.
Great communication between Caroline , Paul and ourselves up to the time of checking in. There was nothing we didn't like.
Everything was perfect =The bolthole is a beautiful cottage , very clean & comfortable.

- Linda (9/5): Thank you Caroline and Paul, your attention to detail made sure our stay at the Bolthole was perfect - Excellent communication and welcome from owners Caroline and Paul, who have superbly refurbished property. Very comfortable with good facilities in a quiet location. Easy 3.5 km route to Hayling Island Sailing Club The low bedroom ceiling took a bit of getting used to but not a problem.
Minor points; A clothes dryer rack would have been useful and we couldn't locate the outside bin for recycling

- Jan (9/5): The Bolthole... A little gem - Lovely little house, everything we needed there.
Spotlessly clean and hosts were so kind and helpful. We were celebrating our anniversary so the owners left us a bottle of bubbly in the fridge and delicious homemade biscuits.... So thoughtful.
Would love to go back again. My husband struggled a bit with the bedroom as it was in the eaves. It was 5ft 5' at its highest, wasnt so bad for me as im a lot shorter. But we managed. The bed, however, was very comfortable.
- Rumbi (9/5): - Good location, good for exploring Hayling Island and beaches, close to Portsmouth, Isle of Wight etc. Also thanks for the milk and bikkies
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely quirky little place - Lovely and clean. Small quirky place for 2 people. Lovely homemade biscuits and lots of things in the kitchen to help cooking in if you so wish. There wasn't anything we didn't like. The only feedback on the down side fo
r us, my husband is 6ft 6 so for anyone over 5ft 5 (my height) the bedroom is a little bit of a challenge.
- Katie (9/5): Superb -
- Naomi (10/5): Am absolute gem! - We had a wonderful two-night stay at this beautiful little house – it truly felt like a home from home. Everything was so well thought out, with lovely little touches that made our visit extra special. You can really tell how much care has gone into creating such a welcoming space.
One of our favourite parts was looking through the “Transformation of the Bolthole” album – such an inspiring story, and it made us appreciate the place even more. A perfect spot to relax and recharge. Highly recommended! A full length mirror would be beneficial.
- Donna (10/5): A little piece of heaven - This place is lovely just what we needed everything in it that you need and very comfortable couldn't have wanted anything more .
- Louise (10/5): Wonderful comfortable quality stay - The cleanliness and quality of furnishings was fantastic. Having lovely fluffy towels exactly the same as my home ones was a nice surprise! The bed was very comfortable and again the quality of the bedding was lovely. There was a jar of home made cookies upon arrival for us, they were delicious. Tea, coffee and milk were also supplied. The simple things like supplying washing up liquid, dishcloths, bin bags etc was appreciated too. The loft bedroom could be a problem if you are tall but neither of us are so this was not a problem for us. There were handy local information leaflets, we decided to visit Fort Nelson and it was an excellent day out! The instructions in the folder for everything in the Bolthole were very concise too, nothing was missed. Truly wonderful gem of a place. A bigger TV maybe and a full length mirror. But not a big problem.
- Gina (10/5): Highly recommend if you’re looking for a private little gem to get away from it all, we were so lucky with the weather a - It was so lovely and beautifully decorated, very private! Perfect little gem Couldn’t fault anything
- Stephanie (10/5): The Bolthole provided everything we wanted from our stay & more. Looking forward to visiting again! - Quiet, private location but close to all amenities. Property beautifully decorated, modern but homely. Lovely loft bedroom providing separate sleeping area away from living space. Great communication with hosts. Would benefit from a bigger TV as the current one is a bit small - maybe a Smart TV with e.g. Netflix, iPlayer etc. for rainy days and evenings in.
- Claire (10/5): Beautiful little gem - The house was beautiful, really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely return.
- Tracy (10/5): Perfect holiday home - The bolthole is beautifully decorated and is home from home with everything you need to enjoy your holiday. It is walking distance to shops and the beach There wasn't anything we didn't like
- Wendy (10/5): Perfect - Friendly and helpful owners. Excellent facilities, everything you needed.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location and cookies. Communications first rate. Extremely clean and warm. Could not have been more welcoming. Loft bed was great. Next door had a jet ski. Ice cream van quite loud. Fish and chips best ever but could have been cooked for 5 minutes more. Unelcome fraternal visit.
- Sara (9/5): Superb -
- Gary (9/5): Lovely stay at The Bolthole. - Really nice little house, very well maintained and kitted out with a conservatory and lovely back garden. Highly recommend staying there. The hosts left us some milk in the fridge, there were tea bags, coffee and some home made cookies too!
Enjoy!! The bedroom ceiling is low and if you're tall you will have to stoop. But the bedroom is very tastefully done out.
- Deborah (10/5): The BOLTHOLE is well designed with all the comforts of home. Everything has been well considered and prepared for a comf - The design and sharing of your hard work in creating the space!
Clean, tidy and personal touches! Nothing!
- Glenda (10/5): Perfect - Everything you could need in one space More than I expected
- Susanne (10/5): Beautiful little cottage which felt like home - Beautiful little property which has been renovated to a high standard. Felt like home.
Owners stayed in touch and have been great when we left something behind too.
Such a fab place and perfect for a couple to stay and visit Hayling Island.
- Annette (8/5): Relaxing and peaceful. - Beautifully presented Headroom in the bedroom was more limited than we expected judging by the pictures but we appreciated it was a mezzanine room when booked and the most has been made out of the space.
- Lucicunha83 (10/5): Amazing stay - Staying at the Bolthole was a lovely experience. It's a beautiful homely little place, with everything you need. The details and all the extras by the hosts make it even better.
It's in a very peaceful and quiet location, so sleeping and chilling was bliss.
The house is just a 15 min walk /3 min drive to the closest beach and local shops.
There is a car space in front of the house. The bedroom ceiling is a bit too low, but nothing that spoiled our stay.
- Ralph (9/5): Very good. Very relaxing, quiet and friendly neighborhood. - Excellent location and property. Faultless.
- Mark (10/5): Lovely, well appointed chalet with pleasant and attentive hosts. - Excellent location in a quiet lane. Close to the beach with most facilities in walking distance. Design and decor are excellent. Perfect for a stay on the island. Good quality appliances and everything worked well.
- Tracey (9/5): A fabulous home with super helpful owners. - A lovely well equipped property. Everything that you could want. A welcome bottle of milk and home made cookies were a lovely treat. Beautifully finished and a lovely garden area. The bedroom was a little too bijou for us. But the description did state the low ceiling height. I didn’t consider how low.
- Lisa (7/5): All we needed was a decent shower and good sleep. But didn’t get either. - It was well decorated and spotlessly clean.
Quiet. And stocked with everything you might need. The welcome milk and homemade cookies. We had issues with constant hot water, especially in the bathroom. Not sure if it was on a timer? But certainly did not run hot early morning.
The shower was also hard to regulate comfortably. Either too hot, or too cold.
Although we were aware of the ceiling height upstairs…We found it a struggle. Had to crawl into bed, literally.
- Rose (9/5): Superb - Everything. Nothing.
- Andy (10/5): Restful quiet and relaxing just as we wanted it - Location was excellent The ceiling in the bedroom was a bit low
- Chandler (10/5): Comfy, cosy, felt very much at home - Loved the transformation of the property
The hard work and detail caroline and Paul put into their bolt hole
The little touches verymuch appreciated
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely amazing accommodation, spotlessly clean and very cosy Everything
- Kellie (8/5): Very good -
- Dianne (8/5): Very good - A private clean and comfortable stay in a cute little place. We love Hayling Island. Not being able to stand up in the bedroom space.
- Patricia (10/5): Very pleasant stay and lovely venue to come home to at the end of the day. - There was milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and homemade cookies on arrival (these were very tasty and demolished within 10 minutes). A lot of thought had gone into the layout and it was lovely to sit in the conservatory, first thing in the morning with a cup of tea. The garden looked amazing but unfortunately a little late in year for us to sit out in. This is not a criticism but, as my husband and I are both 80 years old, we did find the bedroom a little challenging. We don’t bend as easily as we used to! It was helpful with the bathroom downstairs so we were able to keep our suitcases and change of clothing under the stair area.
The bathroom was lovely but found the shower base a little slippery. Perhaps a bath mat could be provided if it is required.
- Helena (10/5): Hidden gem - Quiet little hidden gem. Spotlessly clean. Great attention to detail. Deceptively spacious. Everything you need and more. Lovely private garden. Complimentary milk and cookies! Private parking. Hope to visit again.
- Debbie (9/5): We had a great anniversary weekend and loved the property - Layout of property and the garden Ceiling a little low until we got used to it
- Williams (10/5): Amazing little bolthole, a perfect get away, excellent communication. I already want to go back. A - As soon as we walked through the door, spotlessly clean, a welcome bite with cookies and a bottle of wine. Everything you could need. Not a dislike but the Stairs are a little steep and a low ceiling l, keep this in mind if you have mobility problems
- Muriel (10/5): Exceptional - We liked everything about the place. Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully presented accommodation.
- Glen (10/5): Great place highly recommended - The location is nice and quiet. As soon as you walk through the door, you are hit with a homely welcome close to everything you need , I liked every minute I was there. Can't think of anything I didn't like about the accommodation
- Carol (10/5): A perfect place to enjoy our short break on Hayling Island. - What a fantastic space! We spent a few nights here while attending a wedding on Hayling Island, and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The Bolthole is thoughtfully laid out, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. It is located up a quiet lane, but with easy access to all the local amenities and nearby beach. The welcome basket of cookies, eggs, milk etc. was a lovely touch, and very much appreciated after a long drive!
- Janet (9/5): On our list to make a return soon with the Island so accessible to Surrey. - Modern and sparkling accommodation, the result of careful and imaginative planning of a limited space. Altogether delightful within a quiet backwater established site. Own parking space to the front. Friendly neighbours, residentially mostly. Having to leave to go home! No, all good but sleeping is on a mezzanine level with limited head room, excellently modelled. Just took extra time to ‘turn in’ We are both 70+ and loved it!
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Everything worked out perfectly, Many thanks, Sorry we ran out of time to update the guestbook ! Hope to revisit again next summer !
- Stephanie (10/5): the weather was exceptional and the bolt hole was situated in a little oasis of quiet. - it was super clean. Very thoughtfully designed and very good quality finish to the ‘project’. lots of places to ‘be’ in such a compact space made it feel much bigger. N/A
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - Great location for exploring the island, lovely little back garden that is a proper sun trap. The conservatory was a bonus too. Well equipped little kitchen and very clean throughout. Comfy bed too. Couldn't ask for more, although the low ceiling in the bedroom could be an issue for some. Nothing
- Jacqueline (10/5): Absolutely fantastic -
- Jon (10/5): Exceptional - The Bolthole is a perfect place to relax with all amenities and beach close by. The renovation is stylish and exceptionally comfortable with good quality furnishings and various seating. areas to make the most of indoor and outdoor spaces. Everything was spotlessly clean and new. We loved our stay. The low ceiling in the bedroom does make it difficult getting in and out of bed, but we were totally aware of this when we booked and it didn't deter from our overall enjoyment of staying at the property.
- Jeremy (9/5): Excellent location. Well appointed space. - Great Nothing
- Ralph (9/5): Bolthole par excellent. - It was very good. Excellent. Low roof in Bedroom.
- Yogi (9/5): The perfect peaceful getaway - Very quiet location. Very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean and everything felt new. The conservatory made it for me as the weather was pretty good and so a wonderful space to do yoga and meditate. Nothing!
- Natalia (9/5): Lovely little gem in Hayling Island - The Bolthole had lots of little lovely features - fresh flowers, real plants and herbs. Home made cookies were the best! Milk in the fridge, eggs and freshly baked bread. Very clear instructions and clear local information in the book. The owners created such a wonderful homely and welcoming atmosphere. The place was superbly clean and well equipped in a quiet cul-de-sac. Perfect bolthole for a couple’s short retreat. We had a lovely stay and will definitely recommend this place! Thank you so much and we wish your hospitality venture continues to be successful!
- Alexandra (10/5): Most relaxing time on the island in a cool pad. - The Bolt hole is a really lovely place to stay for single people or couples. It is very well designed and is a very relaxing and enjoyable place to stay.
If you are looking for a stress free, relaxing place to stay near the shops and sea this is a great option.
Hosts were very helpful and welcoming too.
- Chrissy (9/5): Superb - Love the design and cleanliness and all the little homly touches. Shower and living area was perfect. Kitchen nicely kitted out. Modern and open plan. Excellent underfloor heating and suplimentary heating. Location perfect. Ceiling too low upstairs so couldn't stand upright and had to crawl into bed as couldn't walk down the sides of the bed.
