Christopher (9/5): A lovely ,relaxing and most enjoyable experience - The whole experience, in that the hotel, its restaurant and staff were all excellent. The staff were polite and friendly. The food in the restaurant was of exceptional quality and beautifully presented, and whilst the choice of dishes was limited, it was imaginative and full of flavour. The rooms were/are fairly unique but very comfortable. There is a lack of storage space for clothes in the rooms.but that is a minor detail

Carole (9/5): Tastefully renovated in a quiet setting close to the sea. - Full of character and history finished to a very high standard. Staff were excellent, Connor in particular was very efficient and welcoming. Ample parking. The Grainstore restaurant was very atmospheric for an evening meal. The breakfast was excellent (we had the Full English) The room (25) was very comfortable but also very small and quite tight to move around with the large wall mounted TV being quite obstructive. Also, there was no window to allow fresh air in.

The restaurant was amazing… really well catered for dogs We booked this last minute on booking.com. Just looking for a cheap weekend away. Room 25, was clean and great but too small. The room was really hot as well with no heating on. Luckily we have a small dog because there was literally no floor space..

The staff, including the Grain Store staff, were friendly, helpful, cheerful and polite and efficient. The food in the Grain Store was of high quality and imaginative. The rooms were extremely clean and well kept. Only slight disappointment was the lack of storage space in the Cottage room, otherwise a great stay in an excellent location. Philip (10/5): Comfortable and lovely stay - After a good day of walking we'd already eaten when we checked in so didn't use the bar or onsite restaurant that evening. But we invited friends to join us for breakfast the next morning and all agreed it was excellent in a lovely setting, with plenty of cheerful staff. Our room was a little snug off the courtyard but was very comfortable and the dogs were welcome everywhere and very well provided for with beds and treats! Nothing, would have liked another night to sample the hotel and spa.

R (10/5): Fantastic dog friendly hotel in a quiet village with a ten minute stroll to the local beach - I was a little hesitant due to the 2star google rating, but this is an old rating & really needs to be updated to a 4 or 5star. Some of rooms are in the main building & some are individual rooms across the courtyard all of which are beautifully decorated. The staff were so lovely & helpful, showing us the room, bringing fresh milk for the tea & freshly made biscuits (with a personal hand written little message welcoming us.. it’s the little details that make it special) food in the restaurant is superb. in the main building is a very nice bar with a good selection of wines & drinks. Lovely stay & we will return. Well done to all, keep up the good work. Nothing!

Lovely, picturesque village within as easy walk to the coast. Very dog friendly with all their needs catered for. Plenty of car parking. Evening meal didn’t have enough variation of choice and price point. Snug room was very snug two people would have been a crowd!

Staff were all very good, happy to help, always there when you needed them but not in your face / hovering around you. Parking, was a little busy when arrived and struggled to get a spot initially.

Nicole (10/5): Birthday Celebration near the sea - We loved the location, our Sunday Roast Dinner was the best we had eaten out in awhile. Our room was extremely clean and spacious. Breakfast was excellent on both days. We also loved being able to have a drink sitting around in the Main house late afternoon. Our room in the stables did pick up quite a bit of outside noise at times.

We had been upgraded so had a wonderful spacious room. Marie and Alex in the Grain Store were really friendly and service was prompt at breakfast. The cooked breakfast by chefs Paul & Kyle was delicious and the variety of the cold buffet breakfast great. Had drinks at the bar in the main hall , again great service from staff. Everything about our mini 1 night stay was just wonderful and we will definitely return! Thank you!! Not applicable as all was good!

Tracey (10/5): Surprisingly lovely accommodation - The room was absolutely lovely. There were provisions for the dog; a bed, bowls, treats and a towel. The French doors opened onto a little enclosed area for the dog. Large comfortable bed. Unfortunately it too forever to fill the bath up and to get anything above lukewarm water in the evening. It may be different in the morning because the shower was piping hot.

Room was compact we would say good for one or two days other wise might start to lose its appeal. No wardrobe and no fridge later milk goes off as room warm as no air-conditioning There was no instructions on how to use the shower fitting as very button needed to be depressed to dial up hotter temps.

The proper coffee machine and fresh milk in the room was great. Bed was comfortable and the supplied toiletries were superb and plentiful. Not such a great wine selection. The Sunday roast was very dried out BUT I did order it late afternoon and it certainly wasn't fresh. I sent it back and ordered something else. The waitress also brought the wrong wine. The dining experience wasn't great but overall a very nice place to stay.

Nicholls (8/5): Nice hotel, pitty about the dog in the restaurant - The bar area and restaurant were very well presented. Dogs were allowed in the restaurant which is not pleasant nor hygienic. One evening a largish dog was sprawled out in the aisle directly under the food preparation and service area. Every dish that came out of the kitchen passed over the top of that dog. Dog Friendly was advertised but every restaurant we have used has a specific room or area for dogs and their owners. In fact the hotel half a mile away, The Pheasant, has such a designated room which was accepted by all while we were guests there

Robert (5/5): The welcome on arrival at reception was curt as we had arrived at 2.30pm and check in was 3pm. We weren’t asked our name - Beautiful location and lovely buildings. Our room was lovely although water pressure was low and couldn’t use the shower as water was cold. When eating breakfast on Sunday, a significant number of dogs were allowed into the restaurant. One couple fed their two rather excitable dogs placing dog bowls on the table together with a tin of dog food and used the restaurant cutlery to feed the dogs. Two waiting staff interacted with the dogs letting them lick their hands. They then wiped their hands on their aprons and then picked up other guests plates from the serving hatch to serve their food. The dogs were allowed to eat in front of the tables with open bowls of food such as cereals and pastries for the guests. This is a serious breach of food hygiene and should not be permitted. There is a side room with no buffet food service and if dogs are allowed then they should be accommodated away from the food service for others guests. The number of dogs in the restaurant was considerable and the behaviour of the waiting staff was totally unacceptable. Guests should not be allowed to use the restaurant cutlery for feeding their dogs and then leave dog bowls and tins of dog food on the table. Dogs should not be allowed to be fed in the restaurant. I am considering my options for reporting this to the food standards agency.

Dean (10/5): - Fantastic stay! The room was wonderful and thoughtfully catered for my dog. Often, pet-friendly rooms can feel a bit second-rate compared to others, but this was absolutely not the case. The room was spotless, cozy, and warm — complete with a dog bed, treats, bowls, and even poo bags, which was such a nice touch. The restaurant was excellent, with delicious food and a great atmosphere. The staff were outstanding — so helpful, friendly, and welcoming to both me and my dog. He was treated like a guest in his own right, even getting a sausage at breakfast, which he loved! Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We both felt so comfortable and looked after, and I’ll definitely be returning very soon.

The bar area has a very traditional feel to it with comfortable seating and beautiful surrounds. The restaurant, whist a little expensive delivers quality food however the menu is rather limited. Service is excellent.
