Guest Reviews
- Lalie (9/5): We had an amazing time together! - We could tick all the boxes! Absolutely nothing!
- Dominic (9/5): Sehr schönes Haus in traumhafter, ruhiger Lage!
- penhallow (9/5): Great host, great property, great time! - The host was amazingly helpful. Properly was beautiful and very clean The kitchenette could be better if it had a hob, also because there are no binds or curtains (so you see the amazing view) it was very light in the morning.
- Jess (10/5): A gorgeous retreat - The property has beautiful views over the Brecon countryside. It is furnished and styled to look gorgeous whilst also being comfortable and homely. The facilities are all excellent and Sonia could not be a more accommodating or approachable host. Nothing
- Alireza (6/5): We had a lovely time, our host Sonya was excellent, however the property (although very comfortable) was not entirely su - Location was idyllic, beautiful views from the cottage and very peaceful. The property was clean and comfortable, with lovely outside garden space which we enjoyed. We felt very confident to let our 2 year old toddler run around as it felt safe and secure. Our host Sonya was extremely good; accommodating and helpful and gave lots of good tips for local sights and places to eat which we really appreciated. She and her family were lovely, our grandson particularly enjoyed her array of animals! We interpreted the kitchenette as being a small but fully-fitted kitchen, which was not the case. With no hob and proper oven (there was a small air-fryer and microwave with an oven facility), we were limited on what we could cook and as self-confessed foodies keen to fully enjoy our holiday, this was disappointing. As our host pointed out, the listing was clear on what was/ wasn’t provided but as we’ve never been in this situation before in the 15 odd years of renting properties around the UK, we assumed a property in a rural setting would have these basic facilities.
The bathroom was not particularly suitable for our needs - the ceiling was so low that we we were unable to have a standing shower, instead we sat down in the bath and hosed ourselves with the shower head. This was difficult for those of us in our 70s and we found getting in and out of the bath difficult.
The bedrooms were lovely however they also had very low ceilings due to the design of the building meaning we had to crouch to get around the space, again not easy for elderly people. There were no curtains in the rooms which was lovely for the views but not ideal for sleeping, especially in the summer months. Our host kindly provided eye masks but this was not suitable for our toddler, handily we’d brought portable blackout blinds but without these he’d have struggled to sleep.
- Matthew (10/5): We had a great stay was just what I neededto get away from wotk and enjoy some time eith friends - Location out of the way Nothing really no bad words to say
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (9/5): Fabulous place to stay - Beautiful and stylish accommodation, in a lovely rural location. Very peaceful
Very helpful and communicative host. Only minor thing is the headroom in one of the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs
No curtains on the windows but only an issue if you're a light sleeper
- Hilary (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (10/5): It was an absolutely perfect break away in a stunning property & location. - Sonia was a very warm, friendly and welcoming host who was on hand throughout our stay either in person or on the phone. The property and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful, and the location is a fantastic base for exploring this part of Wales. The cottage had everything required to make it a home from home stay, and the lovely touches that Sonia adds make you feel like you can relax and unwind. Sonia provides Reike & Angel Reading sessions which I would loved to have utilised had I thought about it in advance. But its definitely on the list the next time I stay at Pippin Lodge. Lastly, my mum and I took our dogs who were very welcome guests in the property, and who appeared to very much like their stay too. Nothing.
- Stacey (8/5): Cosy accommodation with amazing views - This was a great space for our family of 4. The beds and bedding were super comfy and Sonia was an amazing host, very friendly and on hand to help. The views from the Lodge are exceptional.
It was a shame that the garden area isn’t completely secure for the dogs as we had to keep them on a lead. Sonia did warn us about this prior to arrival but it would make the accommodation perfect if the dogs could be left to mooch in the mornings and evenings when needed. Curtains in the bedrooms would have given us a longer sleep as the rooms are lovely and airy but as a consequence we did wake up earlier than usual.
- Shantelle (10/5): 10 out of 10 ✨✨✨ - Cute cosy and very welcoming, perfect surroundings, amazing views, your own little garden too, was honestly the best weekend, thank you!
Sonia was just amazing, so helpful with all questions, such a lovely genuine person and that makes your stay so much nicer and you can fully relax ❤️
We’ll definitely be back x
- Paul (10/5): Excellent stay in a beautiful cottage - Excellent stay - we come for a stay exploring the Brecon Beacons & the cottage was excellent location for this. Cottage was comfortable & spacious. The kids loved playing in the garden - views of the countryside were excellent. We all loved it - kids especially loved the animals which Sonia’s daughter was kind enough to let the kids see & stroke. Overall a lovely stay & could not fault the cottage or stay. Would definately come back.
- Maria (1/5): Untrustworthy - Property owner promised refund as i was unaware of £30 charge for dog even though info on this said £25. No refund received. Very bad.
- Louise (9/5): Beautiful home in a great location, we’ll be back!! - Beautiful cottage in an amazing location, stunning views, spotlessly clean and comfy. Sonia was a lovely, helpful host. Nothing!
- Sleigh (8/5): Great little cottage in Wales - The location was great, and the beds were really comfortable. The views in the morning were gorgeous and the cottage had everything we needed for our short stay. And perfect that we could bring our dog along too. The ceiling was a little low in the bathroom so we had to bend down a bit. It was chilly when we arrived (it was a particularly cold day) and took a little while to heat up, but was lovely once it was warm.
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Pippin Lodge is a stunning place to stay, extremely accommodating for both myself and my 2 dogs that I took with me. Sonia is an incredible host and even gave one of my dogs a lovely groom. A beautiful stay. Nothing!
- Emanuele (10/5): We had an incredibly great time at the Pippin Lodge! Extremely clean, super comfortable, we spent cosy evenings playing - Extremely clean and cosy accommodation, green and quite surrounding, really nice host.
- Danial (10/5): Superb - Very nice lodge with a private garden. Exceptional services as well
- Huw (10/5): Spotlessly clean 18th century converted barn, what’s not to love?! - No breakfast included but all the facilities to make our own.Location was peaceful private and beautiful What I didn’t like was that I couldn’t have stayed here longer.
- Daryl (7/5): Amazing weekend, lovely setting would definitely stay again when in the area. - Lovely property in a beautiful location, very clean and the owner was very helpful and welcoming. Ideally could do with a bigger kitchen workspace and a shower.
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely place to stay, host was very pleasant & helpful - nothing was too much trouble. - Very clean & comfortable property to stay at in a beautiful area.
- Paige (9/5): Superb - Absolutely gorgeous property with views. Everything was very comfortable and Sonia was very lovely and accommodating! The bath/shower - not able to stand and shower. Would be great to have a fixing on the wall to hold the shower head up.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Great base to explore a very special part of the world - just loved looking at the views - Wonderful isolated and cosy hideaway with exceptional views, very appealing and would have liked to stay longer It is a shame the weather did not full cooperate
- Claire (10/5): Beautiful lodge, picturesque location with an amazing host! - Stunning property set in a picturesque location. We enjoyed waking up to the sheep outside our window and the beautiful Welsh countryside. The lodge is perfectly equipped for a short stay, my partner is now wanting an air fryer mini oven! The beds are super comfy and complete with high quality bedding. The lodge is finished to such a high standard which made the stay even more relaxing.
The lodge and host are super dog friendly! Our friends bought their dog Charlie, who was welcomed by Sonia. She prepared a room for the dog to stay in with our friends and another room to be dog free, to help future guests with allergies. Sonia also provided towels for Charlie to dry his paws and blankets for the sofa. We were lucky enough to meet 2 of Sonia’s 7 rescue dogs who were adorable!
Sonia couldn’t do enough for us. A storm hit the area during our visit which knocked out the wifi and power for a short while. Sonia bought us a flask of hot water and ensured we were well. As you can probably tell from my comments, Sonia is a super host and will ensure your stay is excellent regardless of the weather! We can’t wait to come back in the summer! The shower height but it wont stop us coming back!
- Dale (10/5): Cosy Christmas stay. - Clean, comfy beds, welcoming and attentive host and even had a Christmas Tree!
- Cath (8/5): Very good - Host very welcoming
- Adam (10/5): A beautiful house in a wonderful part of the world. - We had a fantastic stay at Pippin Lodge. The building has been freshly renovated to a very high standard, with the downstairs having a lovely farmhouse feel, whilst the upstairs is more in keeping with a boutique hotel, with super comfy beds and a fantastic view. The location is also superb, right on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog with easy access to mid wales/the coast as well. Look forward to returning in the future.
- Andrea (10/5): What a beautiful place! - What a lovely home from home in beautiful surroundings. We had a very warm welcome from Sonia and she couldn't do enough for us.
There are plenty of walks nearby and plenty of choice for food just ten minutes away. We had a lovely peaceful stay and will definitely return.
- Stan (9/5): Excellent accommodation - Location, clean, comfortable, host, general facilities Would be nice to have a small hob for basic cooking but not essential
- Tarisai (10/5): Love it - I loved everything....countryside atmosphere,the views,the warmth of the B&B
Lovely Host
My family and i had a lovely stay...we will come back 1 day
5 star from us..
Sibanda Family Nothing
- Alper (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noufal (10/5): "A blissful escape with breathtaking views, exceptional hospitality, and cherished family memories." - I had the pleasure of staying at this charming cottage with my family, and it truly exceeded our expectations in every way. The property itself is a hidden gem, offering breathtaking views that left us in awe. The cottage was not just a place to stay, but an experience that immersed us in the beauty of nature.
The landlady's warmth and support were invaluable throughout our stay. Her hospitality made us feel right at home, and her willingness to go above and beyond to ensure our comfort was truly commendable. From offering local insights to ensuring we had everything we needed, she made our stay truly special.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed every moment at this cottage. The tranquility of the surroundings allowed us to unwind and create lasting memories together. We left with our hearts full of gratitude and a deep appreciation for this wonderful experience. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat with a welcoming host, this cottage is the perfect choice. We can't wait to return and create more cherished memories in the future.
- Elijah (10/5): Thumbs up from me and my family - Very cosy and secluded-feeling rustic cottage with a very nice and hospitable host living nearby incase willing to help incase you need anything, she's very nice to chat with and we really enjoyed her dogs' accompaniment. Will definitely consider coming back on our next trip to the Brecon Beacons Not really much apart from the low shower room ceiling and no curtains for the shower
- Andrew (10/5): Amazing cottage in a lovely quite area with a very friendly host. - Beautiful property and great host. We stayed here for 1 night on a motorbike tour of wales and all of us have said we will definitely be coming back for a longer stay. Lovely relaxing cottage with plenty of space for families. Would recommend to all.
- Russell (1/5): The host/owner would benefit from problem solving and customer service training. - The hosts attitude towards thinking she knew our personal situation, which she had no knowledge of but was very happy to criticise it.
- Tarisai (9/5): Loved it - Beautiful Amazing
- Gina (10/5): A fantastic countryside getaway - cosy, comfortable and peaceful! - There wasn’t anything that we disliked really! We had a brilliant time and loved how peaceful the environment was. The cottage itself is super clean, cosy and tastefully decorated with lots of space and a private garden where you can soak up the sun. We had a very comfortable stay and left feeling very well rested and happy. It was a pleasure to meet and chat with Sonia - she was very helpful and responded very quickly to any queries. Thank you! Only one point to note is the bathroom - the toilet flushing system could be improved, and showering in the bath is a little tricky due to sloped ceiling height. But this is manageable and it all works so it did not impact the overall quality of our stay.
- Hawker (9/5): Superb -
