Guest Reviews
- Gill (9/5): Very pleasant and cosy, would recommend , lovely village to explore . - Perfect for my mini stay whilst visiting friends. I booked last minute and was a little nervous about a negative review that I read. So I was relieved when I got to the property, lovely welcome pack, kitchen had all the utensils needed, lovely bedroom and very comfy bed, big shower and water nice and hot, generally it was a warm and cosy cottage. Yes, I agree that the bathroom basin was very small but fine for one person. Not mentioned on the description that there is a lovely patio area outside. Couldn’t park outside ( which was detailed on the description of the property) the market square parking was full when I arrived. Managed to park in a lay-by down the road, but with a dog and bags it was a challenge!
- Carey (4/5): Hmmmm......... - Wren Cottage was in an excellent location, just behind one of the local pubs in the centre of the village.
It was lovely and warm when I arrived, and the basics - tea, coffee, biscuits - even local milk, were provided. Even a pack of festive crisps.
The furnishings were a little tired in areas, but they were clean and very comfortable.
I didn't use the kitchen, but it looked to be pretty well equipped.
Bed was really comfy and the room was warm and the heating was easily controlled. Although one knob on the radiator did fall off! 🤣 The place smelt really musty, took me 3 days to get rid of the smell. Either that, or I just got used to it!
However, talking to locals, the place is up for sale and isn't used that much, which probably explains it.
Bathroom is really badly designed. The shower stall is massive, but with a really underpowered shower. But the sink is TINY! Everytime I brushed my teeth, I spat on my feet!
Crappy wire coat hangars - I HATE them!
Also, the wardrobe was full of crap. If I'd brought anything longer than a sweater, it would've draped on the Christmas tree at the bottom of the cupboard.
Oh - and I arrived at Christmas. The tree was in the wardrobe, no decorations anywhere. Unlike my friend's rented cottage in the same village, which was fully decorated.
My major grievance, and the reason for my low score.... After I made the initial booking, I realised my flights had changed, so needed to extend my booking for an extra day. I was told NO.
But worse, whoever I was emailing, completely ignored my additional emails...
When I left the village 2 days later, after having booked elsewhere, the cottage was still empty and hadn't been cleaned. I even went in to retrieve some earrings which I'd left behind.
So absolutely no reason why I couldn't have stayed on. 🤬
- Sally (8/5): Great bijoux stay in a great location - Great location for walking! Warm and cosy Kitchen on the smaller side -only an issue if you are cooking a lot
- Kate (1/5): - I arrived at 6pm. The property had not been cleaned/serviced from the previous users. It was freezing cold inside.
Whilst the cottage is OK ish, I didn't stay in it despite the rental company suggesting I should use the dirty sheets! Probably unfair to give a low score as I didn't stay in it but first impressions not good.
