- Globetrotter118 (10/5): Budget accommodation near the border to Latvia - Excellent location very close to the places you want to see. Spacious and clean room. Downstairs is a very well equipped kitchen with a cozy sitting area, and outside the door, there were picnic tables. Good WiFi which also worked at the outside tables. It was a good place to stay, because even if you are heading for Latvia, the transport leaves from Valga, not from Valka! Wish it was a lock or hinge or something on the door to the common shower.

We announced beforehand when we would arrive, but the owner did not reply to our message and we had to wait quite some time to be let in. There were people arguing in front of our window in the middle of the night, which disturbed our sleep (it's not the hotel's fault though).

Very quiet neughbourhood, like the whole town. A long walk from station, I had a tiny bag, so it was ok Two other guest sat in the kitchen,one lady was loud, you could hear every word, but 23 is silence.
- Uwe (7/5): Decent hostel accommodation - A basic hostel accommodation in a quiet side street. Nothing fancy, but everything was in decent condition and very clean. The shared kitchen seemed well equipped, but I did neither have time nor any need to use it. Everything you would expect in hostel price class was OK. Walking from/to the railway station was a little bit longer than I expected for a small town. But you can check the map and backpackers know how far they can carry their luggage.

The staircase is a bit smelly but inside the apartment is ok. Thinking if not ok could I go away since it is not refundable !! Difficult to communicate in English with the owner. I went to the hostel it looks like already closed for a while.

- Rene (3/5): Poor - The owner was very welcoming and helpful. Suggesting to me a possibly better room than I had originally booked. She also showed concern over my bicycle, suggesting I take it to my room just in case. It was a very basic place. I booked it with low expectations, so in this regard it definitely wasn't a disappointment. It's cheap, you can wash, sleep, cook yourself a breakfast. Nothing beyond. Unfortunately at about 4:00 during the night some fairly noisy group arrived. They might not have been that noisy... but the thin walls and doors that have tendency to close with a big bang might have made them sound much louder than they really were. But it nevertheless ruined my sleep and I ended up leaving very early on the morning.

- Stephen (3/5): Nice place but disgusting behaviour of other guests was allowed as there is no supervision. - The hostel itself was very clean and the staff were friendly. The kitchen area was well equipped and the place would have been very good if there had been some sort of control over the behaviour of the other guests. Our score reflects the nasty experience that we encountered. The room lighting was very poor and we didn't like having to share a bathroom with the other guests who were all members of a rock band who got absolutely stinking drunk and were partying until 3am playing loud music. The shared bathroom was located between our room and theirs and because they were so drunk they left their bedroom door open so that they could throw up in the bathroom which was most unpleasant for us. The behaviour was disgusting as they left bottles and cans of drink all over the kitchen even a bottle was left sitting on the hot plate of the cooker until the next morning. The staff would have been well aware of the behaviour as there were cameras located in most common areas but they obviously chose to turn a blind eye. When we checked in we were just handed the keys, paid the money and the owner just left. Thankfully we had only booked one night and were glad to leave. We have stayed in hostels all over the world so know what to expect but we couldn't recommend this place to decent people .
