- Donna (9/5): Fabulous stay at Grouse Lodge - Loved the outdoor terrace and watching the birds on the feeder in the picture window. Great location for exploring. Fabulous host, we experienced a small problem with the shower which was instantly rectified. Comfortable lounge area with everything you could need. Spacious master bedroom and two further twin rooms both very spacious also. Beautiful quiet site with very good walks on hand. We're non smokers and the lounge smelt of smoke on arrival but it soon cleared with the windows open. It was a very minor issue and didn't spoil our stay at all. It would not put us off from staying again
- Paul (10/5): The property and absolutely fantastic, the host went out his way for me and my family . - The property was exceptional, the host couldn't do enough for us, the property was spotless and very cosy, the views was truly something different. Lovely walks on you door stop, i cant thank the owner enough for making our stay truly amazing.
I would strongly advise anyone to stay here, i will be booking this property again in the next few months. Booking .com
- Krzysztof (8/5): A very enjoyable stay. I would happily go there again. - Great place to relax. Quiet and peaceful. Lots of places to walk, especially to the waterfalls. Very slippery stairs at the entrance to the house. It is very dangerous. There is no anti-slip mat there.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barrie (9/5): Nice place. - location, a nice relaxing spot with nice walks nearby.
I had just done 5 weeks of 12hr nightshifts, my wife hadn't had a day off in months, we wanted somewhere to relax and recharge, this was ideal. What didn't we like? OK if we have to add a criticism then the shower made a bit of a high pitched noise, a log burner would have been cool. That's being picky though.
- Steve (1/5): Brilliant we stayed in another lodge - Please note we did not stay at the property as it was damp we got in touch with the owner and he was going to give us a part repayment I am still waiting but I don’t expect anything from him he won’t even answer phone Property would have been good if it weren’t for damp a mouse traps under sink
- Rosina (9/5): Excellent - Cleanses location site not to big felt like home from home , Only a small thing when it’s cold b put the heating on.
- Julie (9/5): Lovely lodge set in stunning grounds. Beautiful Pucks Glen walk and Botanic gardens on the doorstep. - Absolutely stunning views and well kept grounds. Everything we needed in the lodge including board games and comfy couches. Good communication via website with the owner, very friendly.
The bird feeders were a lovely touch right outside the huge living room window. We saw lots of wildlife, including a red squirrel and a small snake. A couple of the doors were very creaky and one of the door knobs fell off. The frying pan could do with being replaced as it was a bit rusty which put us off using it. There was a bit of a damp smell when we first arrived which was understandable considering it is a wooden lodge but it soon disappeared once we opened some windows. All of the above were minor things as everything else in the lodge made up for it.
- Jenny (10/5): Excellent would stay again! - Everything was perfect
- Peter (7/5): Stay Near Puck's Glen and Dundee - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lodge, located within walking distance of the enchanting Puck's Glen. The lodge was dog-friendly, making it an ideal choice for pet owners. Additionally, its proximity to Dundee provided us with easy access to city attractions while still enjoying the tranquility of nature. While the lodge is conveniently located near a busy road, the noise can be a bit disruptive. Additionally, the beds were quite hard, which made for less comfortable sleep.
- Lisa (1/5): Disgusting - The area It was very dirty , spoke to owner when I got home , posted photo , rubbish under sofa disgusting dirty cooker , knifes blunt no hot water hole in sofa , hold in lamp , he was so rude blamed us for carpet cigarette burn S don’t smoke , but I vape which he commented on by watching his Camera s I’ve been in hospitality for over thirty years and never ment so am arrogant insulting human being in my life , also in further complaints some one complained and again he told them they stole towels and wrenched his cabin which in fact is already near to ruins I paid £175 per night I would advise anyone booking to think very carefully about it
- Claire (10/5): My stay was relaxing exactly what we needed a short walk to pucks glen on our doorstep was fantastic so much to do in th - The property was very large and perfect for families in a very quiet peaceful location it was exactly what we needed
- Jeanne (8/5): Good sized lodge - Good sized lodge in an idyllic setting. Beds very comfortable. Cleanliness let it down. Floors, sofas and cupboards/wardrobes need a good clean. A spring clean all round required.
- Precup (9/5): Superb - Brilliant location The smell in the living room
- Brenda (1/5): Bad - Never got the chance as they cancelled on us
- Fiona (9/5): Superb -
- Shazbot1960 (6/5): Looks can be deciving. - Loved the walk through the forest brilliant for dogs How close to the VERY busy road the cabin was, it was very noisy in the daytime with the amount of cars up and down the very busy fast road. Also I'd be finding a new cleaner as the cabin was dirty, the toilet seat was also hanging off. Difficult to wash up in Luke warm water, new pans are needed as our bacon and sausage stuck to the VERY old frying pan, also the kettle took forever to boil not good when you need hot water to wash up. And lastly the TV didn't work 😔
- Michelle (8/5): Great short stay close to my favourite place in the world Pucks Glen - Perfect location
- Cuthbertson (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (1/5): Bad - We arrived and the place was amazing mess we had to clean it up really dirty Nothing hated it and we got a call of the owner saying how did yous get in I was shocked because it was as if he did not know we were coming and a felt terrible
- Claire (10/5): Enjoyable, relaxing and everything we wanted for our anniversary. - Location, the size of the property, the charming features and it was equipped with everything we needed. It did say Mountain View’s, I thought we could see this from the chalet whilst sitting on the veranda. However there was none, it was trees and a road.
Though we went into the forest for amazing views.
- Emma (8/5): 3 night stay in Grouse Lodge - My family enjoyed a lovely 3 night stay at Grouse Lodge at the beginning of May. It's a very comfortable lodge in a beautiful setting with access to Puck's Glen. The beds were very comfortable, Wi-fi was great, the rooms were very spacious. We particularly loved the sitting room with the view out to the trees and plenty of sofas for relaxing.
- Arthur (1/5): Ended up booking another hotel -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (7/5): Pleasant could be doing with a makeover in my opinion - Smell in kitchen and in living room
- Mcginley (8/5): Great value log cabin on the outskirts of Loch Lomond National Park - Great location, easy to access, spacious and warm. Very reasonably priced for a group of 6. Ample parking, linens and towels provided. Peaceful setting, close to Puck’s Glen and Benmore Botanical Gardens. Kitchen could have been better stocked as we had to have the dishwasher on a few times a day to account for the amount of plates and cutlery we used. Moreover the shower was quite small considering the number of people staying
- Mark (10/5): A stunning cottage in a relaxing and beautiful location where you can just recharge your batteries. - Cottage was beautiful, exceeded our expectations. We look forward to going back many times. All good!
- Baxter (5/5): Great location but the facilities need improving and brought up to scratch. - Lovely location, able to watch the Red Squirrels playing every day.
Lodge was roomy and comfortable, with plenty of parking space.
3 good size bedrooms easily able to accommodate 6 people in the lodge. The lodge had not been serviced before we arrived. Mistakes happen and after calling the owners this was rectified quickly. Thank you.
The kitchen did not have any tea towels or oven gloves and only 3 teaspoons. There was also no chopping board, the knives were blunt and a table cloth would have been nice. Limited numbers of pots, pans and kitchen utensils also made cooking for only 2 actually a bit of a challenge.
Our biggest concern however was that we had to remove several slugs during our stay. We found one on the wall, the first evening (and it was not small) and then found trails across the kitchen and over our shoes during the stay and found more that we put outside. We did not leave doors or window open as we did not want to have any issues with anything getting inside the lodge.
The heaters worked well but one made very strange noises in the double bedroom which actually woke us up.
It really does feel that no one has given enough thought to guests staying and what they need unfortunately. I appreciate that things might break or go missing over time but an inventory conducted every month would stay on top of things. It would not require much to move the lodge from passable to excellent!
