Guest Reviews
- Wendy (4/5): - The room was cold. Heating barely working
- mark (1/5): The hotel was closed -
- Maria (10/5): -
- Mahadeva (4/5): - No ventilation and no heating
Parking area was okay
- Emma (8/5): - Nice, comfy, helpful & friendly staff. Just Traffic & streetlight really.
- Richard (6/5): - A late booking which looked like a bargain (£90 down to £68.50) but it wasn't really worth £68.50. Very tired room and bathroom. Never saw any staff and the people in the rooms either side of me decided to make a lot of noise at 4.30am. The whole experience left me distinctly underwhelmed.

- David (6/5): Didnt live up to hotel - For a hotel, it was a pub with no contact just very difficult door system to get into your room
Staff was lovely in bar and although chef had left that day a tasty chilli was given but not what was lead to believe the hotel offered
- Louise (6/5): One night stay was enough - Staying one night in the area , it met our needs . Room was clean and tidy and the water bottles were a nice touch .
Staying on a Monday meant missing out on the food normally on offer . This is a non staffed place to stay . Very soulless ! Electronic door codes to get into the inner part then the same for the room . The front entrance is non electric key code box . Very irritating as it's not easy to put back after you have opened the door . Takes one person to hold the door and another to do the box . This could do with updating !!
- Tony (8/5): Lovely and clean beds comfortable - Location was perfect for visiting family locally The method of entry to the front door and rooms was by code didn’t get on with it very well.
- Sharon (10/5): Comfortable, spotlessly clean and great value for money. - It was perfect for what we needed. We’re a couple in our 60s travelling through Wales to collect and drop off our grandchildren who live close by. Comfortable and clean, and great value for money. The lady in the bar downstairs was very kind and helpful, absolutely lovely in fact. I can definitely recommend.
- James (10/5): It was perfect - Everything Nothing
- Neil (10/5): - Great location, great food and easy check in
- Neil (10/5): - Great food
- safiya (8/5): - The Grannell is in a convenient location for onward travel to other areas & the car park is quiet with plenty of space. We found the system for entry to our room inconvenient. There is a lock box outside for the key to the main hotel door & unlike other locks boxes the whole front comes completely off to access the key, then to put the key back you have to enter the code again to reattach the front (so you do the process twice). On entering the hotel a further electronic lock code is needed to access the area with the rooms (which is up a flight of stairs) & yet another code is needed for the electronic lock to the room. Inputting 4 lock codes just to get inside seems excessive & it would be far more convenient to have an electronic key that works all the locks like in some other hotels. We didn't see any staff at any time during our stay because of the self entry & nature of the hotel, but that wasn't an issue for us. The communal areas have an off-putting musty odor, though they do seem clean. We stayed in the family room which was very clean & well maintained. However, the trundle bed was squeaky & uncomfortable to sleep on. We also found the pillows on the double bed very hard so we ended up sleeping without them. The room directly faces the road & therefore can be noisy, it didn't bother us but may be inconvenient for some. It would also have been preferable to have more than one roll of cheap toilet roll as we would have run out had we spent more time in our room
- Alexi (10/5): - Excellent place to stay.
Everything was detailed and informed prior to arrival.
Clean room with all required amenities provided alongside and an good ensuite bathroom.
Free wifi in property and Functional TV with Freesat TV.

- Liz (10/5): What a fabulous find - Stayed 2 nights as we were dj ing at the Grannell saturday night which is 3 hours from home. Key code system on all doors which is easy to follow. Rooms were clean and have tv, tea coffee facilities, also lots of hanging space. Beds were comfy. This is a pub with a restaurant, we dined twice and the food was phenomenal, the sunday carvery was excellent. Good choice of drinks. The whole team and regulars made us feel welcome for the whole time we were there. The staff and management couldnt do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. The function room is really pretty. We will definitely be staying again when over there working next
- Ajax (8/5): A handle on The Grannell - Ideal for me as I was visiting a friend who lives in Cribyn but has only single bedroom. The Grannell has a comfortable bedroom. The hotel is situated on a traffic junction so it can be sporadically noisy until late and night and again noisy early in the morning but I slept well enough. When I stayed, evening meals were 'light bites' only. The hotel is staffed part time so there is a code electrical system for entry. Whatever you do, don't leave your spectacles in your room before returning to hotel at night. The staff leave after clearing up and you will be struggling with the front door key cover code!
- tina (10/5): - Staff were friendly, the food was amazing, and the room was clean. Took us a bit to find but that was on us, not them!
- Angela (8/5): Clean room, Free parking Fast internet, close to Lampeter. - I did not meet any staff all key codes for front door and room door, internet fast, ample parking.
- Le-Anne (10/5): Great! - Good value for money, good parking, spacious room, comfy bed and clean. What more do you need.
- Emma (9/5): Great stay - Close to Uni, easy to find. Staff very friendly
- Sheila (6/5): Pleasant - Great car parking. Easy to find Uncomfortable beds. Tra/ coffee not tefilled
- Anonymous (8/5): A coin toss will decide wether we stay again..... - No breakfast on offer.
Location was fine, easy to reach all the destinations we visited. Stench of cannabis in the corridor outside our room, the missing bulb from the bathroom light fitting (told a member of staff, guess its still missing!!)
Loose cold tap in the bathroom, peeling wallpaper in the bedroom...
Noisy neighbours in an adjoining room, banging around very early in the morning, together with no staff on site to complain to..
- Sadler (9/5): Enjoyable - Easy check in Noise road no coffee in room
- Andrew (7/5): Family visit - The room was lovely and clean as was the bar area. When we checked in, things were exactly as stated and a member of staff showed us how to do the door key etc The room had the junction box which was really noisy as was the plumbing. But then I have hyper sensitive hearing.
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Very Clean Room and Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had such a fun night we were lucky as they had entertainment there that night
- Anonymous (10/5): Great value and a lovely location. - very welcoming staff. Clean Room Not a lot
- Dai (9/5): Well worth staying here. - The location was ideal for a weekend away on the west coast of wales only 2hrs from where i live. The room was very clean , tidy and spacious for the price. The door entry system is a good idea but some may find it a bit fiddly. The staff were friendly from the lady who worked behind the bar and the chef gave us a very warm welcome as we chatted with locals and guests. if the opportunity arose then i would not hesitate to stay again. I could not find anything to dislike.
- Martyn (8/5): Suited my needs, but access to the building was not easy, and obtaining a taxi the following morning - Comfortable and quiet Access late evening was difficult.
- Sophia (7/5): Good value for money, would stay again. - Great staff. Lovely room. Light bulb didn’t word in bedroom, shower soap dispenser was empty, showers were not hot, keypad was not working properly, but staff were very helpful.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oliver (6/5): Pleasant - spacious room and bathroom. overly complicated entry and access if you left your room. not well decorated. grey bedding. noisy in the evening.
- Iona (1/5): Awful - Nothing Key codes everywhere when you could work them out how to use , nobody there to greet us. We actually didnt see anybody throughout our stay .
No breakfast!!
- James (5/5): was ok for what we needed but will not be staying again. - it was reasonable priced, location was ok. Entry to the hotel via keysafe was difficult and instructions not clear which door was which.
Strange not to have a centre light in the room, looks like they had to use it for a smoke detector.
it really didn't make it clear that breakfast was not available at all at the pub/hotel.
shame for a few minor things the room could be ok, like a bath rail to put towels on, a hook on the back of bathroom door would be useful.
- Steve (8/5): - Just a one stay for a local wedding, so the hotel suited my needs perfectly. Very clean and tidy and easy to access with security features for out of hours access.
- Tracy (6/5): Was nice for a overnight stay - had an issue on arrival as they had given our room to someone else. - The staff were lovely and had a lovely evening meal, nice and clean Beds were a bit to soft for our liking
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were very friendly & food was lovely.
- Jon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louisa (7/5): Good value. - The rooms were nice size and the restaurant served lovely food All the rooms are above the pub and it is very noisy. The establishment might consider swopping the pub and restaurant around. Will help with the noises. At least because we stayed in the week the pub did not stay open until late.
- Sophie (10/5): Room lovely and comfortable good value for money - Lovely and clean Not the best welcome, just handed an envelope and off you pop
- Woodall (4/5): Disappointing -
- Shishank (9/5): Superb - Staff was helpful specially chef. Better access
- Simon (7/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Bed was clean The entrance process was odd. Not met by anyone just an envelope with name on and a bunch of codes for the 3 doors you need to enter. One of the nights we stayed the key wasn’t in the key box so we couldn’t get in and had to search for someone who could let us in.
The room smelt stale and was dated, floor was sticky as well.
- Turner (8/5): Nice place to stay good food and great staff - I did not have the breakfast we were going out to early but the evening meal was fantastic The heating is a bit off I think the utility room is too close to the heating control's the corridor is warm but the rooms were cold the staff sorted it out thank you
- Glyn (1/5): Non existent - Never got into the property. As there was no one there Nothing
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nick (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (9/5): Comfortable, accommodating and all round lovely - The hotel as a whole was clean and tidy, I had my dogs with me and the staff were very accommodating of them. The room was lovely and clean. As a whole there wasn't much I would change.
- Neil (8/5): Very good - Well stocked bar Closed on Mondays
- Ron (10/5): - Very large clean and tidy room. Staff very friendly, helpful and courteous.
I’ll definitely go back.
- John (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast not available The entrance procedure was somewhat confusing
- Adele (7/5): Spacious clean room nicely decorated with on suite bathroom. Helpful staff. - Close to Lampeter A bit of noise as my room was right over the pub bar area
- Geoffrey (6/5): - The room is a good size, but no warning of the step in room 4, which meant my wife fell when we entered the room with our luggage, thankfully only shaken no other injuries. There needs to be a warning sign, or hazard notice before the step.
Suggest a better towel rail also needed in bathroom.
Breakfast provision would be good if staying longer!
- Nittin (8/5): - Great stay, nice area will go back again.
- Rajesh (8/5): Pleasant stay at the Grannell! - The stay was very pleasant, with very friendly staff and rooms were very clean !
- Philip (5/5): Passable -
- Graham (8/5): - I really wanted to give a total 5* review, but 3 things spoilt it. It was not until we arrived that we were informed they had no facilities for offering ANY sort of breakfast on a Sunday morning as their chef was busy sorting carvery for lunchtime - the Managers suggestion was to drive to Lampeter. The description said heating was available but even after turning radiators on they were totally cold and the room was cold due to windows being left slightly ajar. Finally the room specification stated 24" TV - which frankly is pretty small these days - in fact the one in the room was 22". I even checked the label on the back and it confirmed it was 22" - frankly not much difference to a 24" but it does mean their advertisement was incorrect. Other than these items I would have given 5* - but really no breakfast on a Sunday??
- Ian (8/5): Very pleasant stay nice hosts - Nice and clean
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- moazam (6/5): - No kitchen facilities
- Mari (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (8/5): Very good -
- Cameron (10/5): Cosy stay - Very homey feel to our room. Our bed was incredibly comfortable and cosy. Plenty of parking available and staff were helpful
- Emma (10/5): Perfect location and the team were super friendly - The team were friendly and the room was perfect for our night away We’d had a really long day travelling and could have done with an earlier night. But the singer was fantastic.
- John (1/5): Disgraceful - We will never stay there again. We did not see any person for the whole time we were there . Two nights stay we were, greeted by an envelope with a key, and a paper with a code number.to upstairs pls code for room. All other doors were locked. No breakfast, tea and coffee for the first night only we had to buy tea coffee pls milk we came back in dark needed toilet downstairs could not find light switches.no glasses for drinking water. If this is how your property’s are I don’t think we will be using, booking dot com again. John&Mary
- Rob (7/5): Comfortable nights stay but room for improvement - Large clean room and en-suite with friendly staff, safe parking and cosy bar Bathroom could be modernised, checkin was a little chaotic and no breakfast option offered, not sure about the keypad security to rooms instead of normal keys or key cards - I hope they’re changed every time!
- Johny (5/5): Overpriced and dingy. - Nothing
- Kirsty (10/5): Perfect would definitely stay here again - Amazing place to stay, we stayed 3 days after opening and it was just perfect the owners were so helpful and friendly it was just perfect. There wasn't anyone around at check out time and also no breakfast available even though it was advertised.

- Jones (9/5): Superb -
- Rob (8/5): Very good - All
