Guest Reviews
- James (8/5): Very comfortable and excellent value. - Exactly as described. Small but comfortable & clean bungalow in a very quiet and handy location for exploring the Peak District. It was great having an enclosed garden for the dogs, although this aspect of the property was a perhaps little overgrown.
- Helen (9/5): -
- VALERIE (9/5): Very enjoyable stay in a lovely bungalow in lovely cul-de-sac - Location good. The lamps in the bedroom didn’t work.
- Phil (8/5): -
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Great place for a stop over - Great location as a stop off travelling from Scotland to the South West. Very quiet, clean and homely. The mattresses were a little uncomfortable. The blinds in the bedrooms did little to block out light at night. Parking on the driveway was tight (not helped by someone parking on the road directly opposite)
- Steven (5/5): A good base for our cycling trip but the lack of curtains in the bedroom really ruined the stay. - Nice quiet area. Italian restaurant within walking distance. There are no curtains in the bedroom.
There are blinds but the room is very bright at night due to the street lights outside and then we were woken very early by the daylight.
Would thoroughly put me off staying again.
- Wendy (10/5): Great location for our trip! - Location was prefect for our trip!
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Sheila (9/5): It was perfect for our needs - It was clean and well appointed. The host contacted us after my sister-in-law left her purse and agreed to sent it on. Parking was a bit tight but the neighbour who shared the drive was very helpful
- Yvonne (5/5): Passable - Cleanliness. The place needed a good cleaning. It was just surfaced cleaned and the bathroom was really bad
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Hill (6/5): We were comfortable and the location was good to meet for our hike. - It was a nice Bungalow and the beds were clean and comfortable. There isn’t enough plug sockets in the bedrooms. There is no stool for the dressing table or anywhere near to plug in a hairdryer. The grill hadn’t been cleaned and there was a lot of old food left in the cupboards.
- Nick (9/5): All clean and everything worked. -
- Charlotte (9/5): Nice house in a great location - Detached property with driveway and garden, great when you’ve got kids and a dog Quite dated
- Rankin (4/5): Disappointing -
- Palmer (10/5): Quaint, comfortable & clean - Charming little bungalow, quiet and very clean. Perfect for what we needed and very good value

- Bradley (10/5): Exceptional - nice place. good communication . suited are needs....good value for money. i would definitely stay again trying to get out of my car on the drive and there are little bushes that stop you from opening your door properly.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keith (9/5): Super comfortable and safe for us and our little dogs - Lovely little bungalow. It was cosy, clean and comfortable. Really nice big TV, comfortable beds, nice appliances and super safe garden for our two little dogs. Good parking on the drive and close proximity to Stockport. Highly recommended. Being a bit picky but the fridge freezer was very, very tiny and for tall people difficult to reach into.
- Belfield (10/5): Nice place - Good location. Clear communication from the owner. NA
- Danni (10/5): Great little bungalow - Great place, cozy living room and good appliances and a nice garden. No complaints whatsoever 👌
- Keith (10/5): Ideal location for us easy to get to and nice and quiet would recommend and dog friendly. - Very comfortable, and it was brillient for the dogs and a nice big TV. it was like going back in time ,and you might laugh but we used to have a three piece suite the same parking was great and easy to drive to the nearby supermarket. The only thing that was missing was a tin opener, that's all everything was just great.
- Neville (9/5): I would be happy to stay at this place again. - Lovely little cosy place, very clean & tidy.Good location for exploring the local Peak District.Nice pub the ‘Gun Inn’ a short walk away. Parking is a little tight, but wasn’t a big problem.
- Rylan (10/5): Cozy and convenient. - Excellent location! Short drive to popular hikes and close to a super tesco, perfect for stocking up before a long day.
- Nick (9/5): Superb -
- Claire (7/5): Good -
- Naseem (8/5): Very good -
- Hannah (3/5): Disappointed - That they allow pets There was no garden veiw.
Floors were noisy.
Wasn't clean thick cobwebs in bathroom (I cleaned them) the toilet under the water rim bit is thick with mould. Only a few channels on the tv. The garden seemed dangerous (for children) as there is a big drop.
- Olivia (9/5): Superb -
- Jenny (10/5): The bungalow - My stay was perfect ! The bungalow was just what we needed, clean and everything we needed. Would definitely go back and stop there again for sure the owner was realy easy to speak to answered messages fast couldn't fault the experience . Nothing it was what we needed !!
The only thing I could say that was a little negative was the
The bathroom and sofa were a bit out dated, but that's it. However they were both very clean and in perfect condition so its not really a complaint just a preference thanks for renting this to us x
- Stephen (9/5): Comfortable and convenient with good amenities - Very convenient location near pub and mini market. As a walker, having a bath was great. Very clean. Ideal for up to 4 people. Good facilities for self catering. Very good tv. Comfortable overall. Very responsive and helpful host/owner. It’s charmingly old fashioned. The double bed is perhaps past it’s best. However I slept well.
- Carrie (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - The location was more or less ideal for our purposes, and much nicer than a hostel or the equivalent that we would have been able to get for the same price. We did have a bit of trouble with the hot water although the host was very responsive and offered to come to the property to help us (although we had to head out so didn't take them up on the offer).
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (10/5): Sweet little house for our little counrty festival get away - Hoist was more than helpful... key code before arrival n was able to access earlier Nothing
- Angela (9/5): 1 night stay for convenience to another area. Lovely bungalow. - Bungalow was in a good area. Amenities close. Good travel links.overall the location and property was perfect for what we wanted and our small dog loved the garden. He felt at home xx Only issue was a small piece of fencing at the bottom of garden was loose. I propped it up. So our dog couldn't get out. But it was not a big inconvenience. The garden was lovely. We only stayed 1 night. For convenience to travel to another area.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional, visited to local pubs within 5 mins walk, locals so friendly and polite, beautiful place. - Lovely and clean with everything you need for your stay, amazing location, comfortable bed and lovely friendly neighbours, will definitely stay again. Nothing to dislike.
- Simon (7/5): Good -
- Jessica (7/5): Good - Liked the location, the bungalow area is lovely. Beds are comfy. Love the new furniture in garden. We returned this year and we’re disappointed that the grass in garden hadn’t been cut. It was very long. We didn’t bring our dog but if we did they wouldn’t of been able to go into the garden and wouldn’t of been able to clean up after them either.
We found the bungalow lovely but also no dish sponges to wash pots which is a shame. Bedroom windows didn’t open and was really hot.
- Christopher (8/5): One night stay to break up the journey on the way back from Wales. Comfortable, quiet and relaxing. - Comfortable property, just off the main road but in a very quiet location. Handy position for both Woodhead and Snake pass and the reservoirs, hills and walks along them. Glossop not far away and a very nice fish and chip shop just across the street Could maybe do with some curtains in the bedrooms as the blinds don't block out much light on a sunny morning. Not a big issue though as it was easy enough to get back to sleep.
- Per-olav (8/5): Very good -
- Baxter (10/5): Excellent stay, best night sleep, peaceful, good value for money, would stay again. - Excellent property, exactly as pictures and description presented. Comfy beds- best night sleep in a long time. Location is perfect, good pub across the road, good Indian restaurant.
Quiet and peaceful, good value for money, clean, warm & overall would visit again.
- Barbara (3/5): Worst stay - Quite location The state of the property was not of a high standard the whole place needs a renovation and the standard of cleaning was bad dirty and greasy cupboards no washing up liquid or tea towels
Water was lukewarm in bathroom shower not much water comes out no WiFi code only blinds in bedroom which meant bedroom was very light all night due to outside lights the drive was to small to park car on thankfully it was only a nights stay
- Louise (6/5): Enjoyable stay but needs updating. - The Bungalow is in a good location. The heating worked well as did the WiFi. It is light and airy and mostly we were comfortable staying here. There are good local amenities. We found that The Bungalow wasn’t as clean as it could have been. There was a layer of dust on some of the surfaces- mainly the dressing table in the twin bedroom and on the fireplace in the lounge. The crockery and utensils in the kitchen needed washing before use. The baking tray in the oven was covered in grease and bits of food. There wasn’t an oven glove available as far as we could tell. There was milk left in the fridge and tea, coffee and sugar. The shower worked well with plenty of hot water but the toilet seat wasn’t very secure. The TV had a good picture but rather large for the size of the room. We couldn’t park our car (small car) on the drive because there’s not enough room width with next door’s car on there as well. The beds were very uncomfortable and lumpy. There are blinds in the bedrooms but no curtains, so it was very light which made it difficult to sleep. The local Chinese takeaway was very good as was Arnfield Fishery nearby, which has beautiful views if you want to sit and have a coffee or walk around the reservoir. Having said all this, we did enjoy our stay. We just felt that with a few adjustments and updating, The Bungalow could be a really lovely property.
- Andrew (10/5): Perfect accommodation for 2 adults and 2 children. Really convenient location and would definitely want to book again - The property was very comfortable and well appointed with generous accommodation for a great price
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (8/5): Clean and comfortable - exactly what we needed! - Clean and comfortable property. Responsive and helpful host. Secure garden with outdoor light which was ideal for the dogs. Ideal for a short stay. Not the hosts fault at all but the driveway is quite narrow and cars parked on the road opposite made it a tight squeeze for a large car to get on/off the drive easily so something to be aware of if travelling in a larger vehicle.
- Emcott (7/5): Good little Bungalow - Location was good and price was good for a whole place. Preferred it to a hotel because we could cook dinner etc ourselves. Everywhere was clean but the bedding did have a lot of hair on. Unsure if human or animal. I should have taken my own bedding. Other than this, it was comfortable.
- Sara (9/5): Very enjoyable and comfortable. Will certainly stay again. - It was very comfortable, homely and well furnished and had everything you need. Lovely garden for the dogs and the lounge was a suntrap even with the snow. Easy to get to but peaceful setting. Lovely area and easy to get to lots of different places via the nearby motorway. The only slight issue was the shower which worked fine but was low pressure.
- Lisa (8/5): Very good -
- Janice (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (9/5): Good value - Great little bungalow, clean with everything you need and a fab location Nothing
- Jacqui (9/5): Superb - A very homely accommodation local shop near by Good pub the gun Inn would definitely recommend a visit and glossop a lovely town.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Esther (9/5): Superb - Location was great to explore the Longdendale trail and near to Manchester.
I liked the enclosed back garden for our dog Kitchen utensils a bit basic and looking worn.
- Mariella (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (4/5): Disappointing stay at the bungalow - Enclosed patio. Quiet neighbourhood No curtains on bedroom windows and locks ght shined in from street light. Kitchen was not very clean. Some of the Mugs were dirty as was the glass in micro. Damaged toilet seat. 2 radiators did not work.
- Catherine (6/5): OK, but could be a lot better with some more attention to detail - The location is good, both for the Peak District and the greater Manchester area. It is also dog friendly, which is great. There's not much wrong with the place in terms of the basics, but it needs attention to detail to bring it up from 'OK' to 'good'. A good example would be the lack of curtains in both of the bedrooms - instead there are flimsy blinds that let in light from the street lighting outside which make it difficult to sleep if you're light sensitive. Similarly, the equipment in the kitchen is basic, and some obvious items are missing (for example, salt). The driveway is also very tight, so if the neighbours next door have parked on their side of the driveway, it's not practical to drive in The Bungalow's side of the drive with a medium/large car (even if you manage to park, hedges surrounding the garden make it difficult to get out of doors on the driver's side). One blind in the living room is also broken.
- Phil (8/5): Very good - nice house,
warm and cosy
comfortable beds
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Comfortable and cosy if a little dated... no glasses or kitchen towel and good to have milk in the fridge... but open and part used!!! WiFi not working and it would have been good to have clear typed up instructions once in
- Liz (8/5): A good stop over . - The bungalow was warm and had everything needed for a one night stay. There were basics in the kitchen like tea, coffee, sugar, pepper , oil and ketchup. There is parking on the drive and the bungalow is a short walk from the post office/local shop, take-aways, pubs and pharmacy. Trying to log into the wi fi defeated us which didn't really matter for the time we were there but might cause difficulties for anyone staying longer. Some of the pots and kitchen utensils needed to be washed before use. This could be due to there being no dish scrubber available. The TV is huge for the size of the sitting room. The bedside lights in the twin bed room were not bright enough to read by.
- James (9/5): Excellent stay and great value for money. -
- Sarah (9/5): Really good value for money and a lovely host. Would book again - Easy to find, ample parking, comfy beds. Good facilities and nice and warm. A nice twin room and a nice double room. The host was really accommodating The kitchen and bathroom were a little dated and no toiletries available but I am picking hairs here as everything worked fine in both rooms
- Charlotte (8/5): Great location, handy to have the garden and driveway - Location Could do with an update
- Bower (10/5): Excellent. Just like to mention a little difficulty with the door lock. - Everything
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Agnieszka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joseph (10/5): Brilliant , would stay again. - Great location just off Transpennine trail. Bungalow was very clean and comfortable. Everything you could possibly need was there.
Great value for money.

- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Dawid (7/5): With a proper clean up/tidy up this is a 10/10 place to book! - Comfort, location, patio, price, kitchen, fridge, bathroom Cleanliness, it was dirty.
- Reanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vaughan (10/5): Perfectly Placed - This property has the feel of village life even though it was close to all of the main links to Manchester and the surrounding towns. The property has everything you need and is faultlessly clean.8

- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (10/5): great location very quite good base to explore the area - Manchester 25 mins away Moors on your doorstep nothing
- Shahina (9/5): Was ideal to our needs to sightseeing the Glossop area. Super local Italian restaurant & convenience stores. - lovely white soft towels
comfortable beds
lovely patio to sit out
- Chloe (8/5): Overall was a really nice relaxing stay - Loved location, lovely quiet street Just the living room is quite out dated
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - The bungalow is very nice and comfortable, tidy with everything you need, in a very quiet location and the host is lovely and helpful.
Would definitely recommend and stay again
- Jan (8/5): Very good - A lovely, comfortable bungalow. A little old fashioned in the lounge and bathroom.
- Laura (8/5): A great getaway for a visit to the Peaks! - A great stay, everything you could need for a night away! Well stocked kitchen, clean and tidy bedrooms. A secure back garden which was great for our little dog. A really good location for exploring the Peaks, we walked around the nearby reservoirs, parts of the Pennine Way and Longdendale trail. Would definitely recommend! We noticed a slight lack of cleanliness (crumbs etc) around the sides/under the sofa and armchair cushions, could just do with a quick hoover. Also the smoke alarm went off randomly, including a couple of times between midnight and 1am.
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Damian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacopo (9/5): Superb - The property was really tidy and clean, full of all the essential, the location was perfect for us and was quite despite been close to a main road.
- Dean (9/5): Superb -
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (8/5): Good for exploring peaks - The accommodation was very good but the heater was on a timer so a bit cold in the morning. Good location for exploring the peaks and would recommend.
The pub at end of the street is rough, go to the gunn about 100 yards further down the road Bed a little hard for me, otherwise all was good
