- AlineBi (10/5): Paraíso natural a 1h20 del aeropuerto de Santa Marta - Un hotel increíble en plena naturaleza, ubicado a aproximadamente 1h20 del aeropuerto de Santa Marta. Se percibe en cada detalle que los dueños han construido este lugar con mucho amor y una visión muy especial. El entorno es simplemente espectacular: un verdadero paraíso natural que cuidan con gran dedicación. La habitación en la que nos alojamos era perfecta para dos personas, muy limpia y cómoda, ideal para descansar plenamente. La comida del restaurante es deliciosa, con ingredientes frescos, de excelente calidad y preparados con mucho cuidado. El personal es excepcionalmente amable; queremos destacar especialmente a Katherine y Diana, siempre atentas y dispuestas a ayudar en todo momento. En resumen, es un lugar totalmente recomendado para desconectarse, recargar energía y disfrutar de un entorno natural único. Un día el agua de la habitación salió amarilla pero entendemos que es un problema de la zona y no del lugar en particular.

Después de días duros de trekking lo recordamos con muchísimo cariño. Cambiamos de habitación para poder dormir en una cabaña preciosa. Les deseamos lo mejor. Gracias en especial a Lorena y a Diana!! Las recordamos con mucho amor!! Está un pelín alejado de la carretera, pero la buseta pasa súper cerca y es un momentín bajar a pie, que no se asuste la gente que es un pim pam!!

- David (9/5): Fantasic stay! - I recently stayed at Salvia Madre in Colombia and had a wonderful experience overall. The service was truly excellent — the staff were warm, attentive, and always willing to help, which made the stay feel very welcoming and relaxed. One of the highlights is the stunning natural setting. The accommodation is surrounded by beautiful nature, making it a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the peaceful environment. Waking up to the sounds of nature and the views around the property was really special. The restaurant also deserves a special mention. The food was delicious, fresh, and clearly prepared with care. It was a treat to be able to enjoy such good meals without leaving the property. One memorable detail was the access road: after a storm it had become quite adventurous to reach the accommodation. While it added a bit of excitement to the arrival, it also made the experience feel even more remote and immersed in nature. All in all, Salvia Madre is a lovely place to stay if you’re looking for great service, beautiful surroundings, and excellent food. nothing!
- Liza (2/5): - Stay away from this place. I’ll start with the positives: the property is beautiful, and the photos reflect that accurately. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The experience is filled with issues that leave a very bitter aftertaste. The location is extremely isolated. To reach the hotel, you have to cross what feels like the muddiest road in South America and wade through an ankle-deep river. Unless you want to ruin your shoes, you’ll need to take a motorbike taxi every time you go in or out. The few drivers willing to make the trip are well aware of the situation and charge inflated prices. And you will find yourself going in and out often, as there is absolutely nothing to do on-site and no common areas to relax in apart from the restaurant. Upon arrival, when paying for your stay, you’re charged an additional 5% fee for paying by card on every transaction. The only way to avoid it is by carrying a few hundred euros worth of pesos in cash — which is neither practical nor advisable. The rooms lack very basic amenities: no hair dryer, no hot water (not a temporary issue — the property is designed without it), and towels are not changed regularly. The rooms are also full of insects due to poor sealing. If you book the “breakfast included” option, be aware that only the four cheapest items on the menu are covered. Lunch and dinner prices are comparable to those of a five-star restaurant in Europe, while the quality is nowhere near that level. On top of that, every order takes between 90 and 120 minutes to arrive. Even milk for coffee comes at an additional charge — despite having paid for breakfast. The overall feeling is that the hotel provides the bare minimum while trying to extract the maximum amount of money from guests. When we asked to use some mosquito repellent during check-in, we were refused and instead offered to buy a bottle for €10. There is zero generosity or hospitality.

Das war aber bei meiner Kreditkarte nötig für Online-Käufe wie zB weitere Hotels, Flüge oder Tours. Dafür muss man dann runter an die Hauptstrasse. Online-Zahlungen mit Debitkarte waren möglich und Tours lassen sich auch vor Ort beim Personal buchen. Es gibt immer eine Lösung! ;)

Sensationelles Restaurant und Personal. Tolle Bungalows. Man sollte sich bewusst sein, dass es inmitten der Natur auch Insekten gibt. Ein sehr wirksames und wohlriechendes natürliches Schutzmittel kann vor Ort bezogen werden.

El personal es amable y el ambiente del hotel resulta muy relajante, ideal para descansar. En general, la habitación y las zonas comunes se perciben limpias y bien cuidadas, lo que hace que la estancia sea agradable. Durante la estancia encontré un par de cucarachas en la habitación. Entiendo que el hotel está en una zona natural y esto puede suceder, pero sería recomendable reforzar las medidas para evitar que esos insectos entren en las habitaciones. Además, en la descripción de Booking se indicaba que la habitación disponía de cocina, pero en realidad no había cocina, lo cual fue un punto decepcionante y poco claro respecto a lo anunciado.

Lorena, the owner, along with the entire team, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They gave us plenty of helpful suggestions and even connected us with great options for activities and transportation. The property itself is very well maintained, with several areas to enjoy—whether you’re looking to explore, unwind, or just take in the natural surroundings. The restaurant was fantastic, with delicious food and a variety of great options. We also had massages during our stay, which were super professional and relaxing—definitely a highlight! Der Wasserstrahl in der Dusche hatte überhaupt keinen Druck, sodass nur tropfenweise Wasser rauskam. Das Essen war zwar sehr gut, aber die Wartezeiten sind äußerst lange (ca. 1h nach Bestellung).

- Harald (4/5): Too expensive for all the little problems... - The resort itself makes a good first impression. It's located in the jungle about 1 km off the main road. Reaching other places, f.e. a restaurant without a car isn't easy... And if you have a car, you can only drive at a snail's pace and constantly worry about damage from the extremely poor road. The restaurant's menu isn't available on paper, only via a QR code. But internet and electricity are weak... The solar panels are sufficient for the lights, but not for the air conditioning. And they charge an extra 5% if you want to pay by credit card! All in all, far too expensive for what you ultimately get...

- Alvaro (3/5): - la atencion del personal 1. no soy de quedarme en hoteles que queden en zonas como esas donde se presentan animales , vegetacion etc. 2. arriba de nuestra habitacion habian obreros trabajando lo cual impidio que tuvieramos un estancia tranquila, por el ruido y polvo que hay 3. por la ubicacion del hotel, las habitaciones no estan completamente limpias, hay animales por todos lados, polvo, etc 4. la llegada hasta el hotel no es tan amigable, hay que coger una trocha bastante larga 5. cuando uno llega al hotel, no hay nadie que le abra a uno el porton, por lo cual toca bajarse del carro a abrirlo y cerrarlo uno mismo.

- Celina (6/5): Det er et vakkert sted med blomster og omringet av natur, gjester bør være klar over at det appellerer til barnefamilier - Personalet er stort sett vennlig, veldig fint rom. Fine omgivelser. Det bør være et skilt når det skal være «barne yoga» Yoga oasen er vakker, og jeg ble dessverre forstyrret av en del barn og foreldre. Var ikke klar over at det skulle være et opplegg. Syntes gjester bør få denne informasjonen. Da kanskje flere velger dette for oppleve ro og hvile. Det fikk jeg dessverre ikke. Det er kun barnefamilier som bor på stedet. Air-condition gikk av på kvelden, prøvde å høre om å skru den på dagen etter, da resepsjonen er stengt fra kl 22.00 da sier personalet at det ikke skal være på dagen. Kan være manglende oversetter da jeg snakket engelsk men likevel følte meg ikke imøtekommet, prøvde ikke hjelpe eller prøve å forstå. Maten tar tid, og det er ikke lagt opp for å ligge på stranden, mye steiner og ser ustelt ut.

- Poh Wan (9/5): - The place was quiet and relaxing. Lots of space that we could use and it was an easy walk to the river. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. The food options were good (including vegan) and delicious. Nice touch with the amenities like bath robe, water, and even setting up a mini fridge for us on request. The best thing was the group of affectionate doggies who even accompanied us to the river. The water pressure in the shower was really low so it was slow and difficult to use. The road entering the property is difficult to navigate in a smaller car.

It was perfect for a short stay before and after the lost city. Every dish of the menu was extremely well designed and very tasty. The premises and reading area had really cool music and a nice vibe. As well as the river and garden. The room was big and had very good beds. The staff (especially Diana and Lorena) is SUPER kind and attentive, and so were both owners.
- Millet (10/5): Experiencia excepcional y relajante - La ubicación increíble en medio de la selva y con acceso directo al río y buenas hikes a otras partes del río, cascadas, etc. Tienen 4 perritos hermosos que pasean contigo a lugares cercanos. El personal sumamente amigable con un excelente servicio y atención - hicieron de nuestra estancia una experiencia mucho más amena. La comida exquisita por un precio moderado. Hay monos aulladores y ocelotes (tigrillo) cerca que hacen que se sienta todavía más salvaje! Recomendable actividades de yoga y tubing en el río. Hay un balneario al otro lado del río que pone música de banda con alto volumen 10+ horas los fines de semana y se escucha en las cabañas, esto llega a interferir con la tranquilidad esperada del lugar durante esas horas. Hay demasiados mosquitos e insectos, pero esto no es culpa del establecimiento sino que es de esperarse estando en medio de la selva.

- Jiménez Gil (7/5): Naturaleza - Ubicación cerca del parque Tayrona, perfecto par desconectar. Hotel con mucho encanto. Las comidas estaban increíbles Aún sabiendo que estas en mitad de la naturaleza, las cabañas no están bien selladas y te encontrabas insectos de gran tamaño dentro de tu cama, ya que la red de la cama no estaba en buen estado y tenía agujeros. Al pagar con tarjeta te cobran un suplemento del 5% sin avisarlo previamente al revisar, es un abuso. La oferta de cenar o comer por el precio que pone en booking no es correcta, pagas el precio de la carta.
- Julia (10/5): Little slice of paradise - Peaceful, beautiful sanctuary amongst nature and a great place to disconnect and recharge. The food is delicious and nourishing. It is all fresh and healthy. Massages are great and very relaxing. The river and the river bank beach are beautiful for relaxing and meditating. This is a place to move away from busyness and the hustle life. I didn’t leave the hotel at all and had an amazing time just being and relaxing. Aircon in my room had some issues which were minor and didn’t fully impact my stay.
- Giraldo (8/5): Great place to stay by the Guachaca river, good food, good vibes and access to nearby beaches. - Breakfast was excellent, with a good range of options for all tastes. There's fruit, coffee, eggs, toast, pancakes, so quite a good range, and you can also make breakfast for yourself as each little villa has a basic but workable kitchen. The lunch and dinner options were very good too, with plenty of options. The tenderloin sandwich is particularly good, and one of my boys loved the pasta al pesto. Rooms are spacious, beds are comfy, and bathrooms are clean and airy. They are setting up open air bathtubs on the garden decks, so you can take a dip and cool off from the tropical heat. As I live in Santa Marta, it is an excellent option for weekend getaways. Everything was good, Madre Salvia is a great value for money, especially because of the basic kitchen where you can cook for yourself in case of an extended stay. It's a great place to relax. The owners, Juan and Paula are gracious hosts and very kind, and the staff was excellent.
- Tim (10/5): A true getaway experience! - This is an amazing place! If you want to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of the city, alone with nature! There is a river and mountains near the villas! We had a very beautiful villa! Spacious bedroom on the second floor, kitchen and bathroom on the first floor, 2 hammocks. And all this among the trees and the singing of birds! The restaurant serves healthy and delicious dishes and drinks. A good cleaning service is provided at the villa upon request. Excellent massage to choose from. The staff is very pleasant and responsible. We would like to say a special and huge thank you to the hotel manager Lorena, she is amazing! Very responsive, kind, responsible!!! She helped us with all our requests and questions! We really had a rest in this incredible place! Some loud music from distant bars at the weekend. It’s not the hosts fault and to be expected everywhere in Colombia.

- Catherine (9/5): Beautiful jungle huts, delicious food and friendly staff - Lovely jungle huts, friendly staff (very patient with our poor Spanish), beautiful grounds. We had a fantastic relaxing 10 days in nature (bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper, as well as insect repellent and long pants and sleeves). The restaurant serves delicious food. Everything we tried was amazing! Yay also serves excellent food and is a short walk away. All-day free coffee would be welcomed or perhaps a French press in the kitchen. It was nice to have our own kitchen but a couple more utensils and some coffee, salt, oil etc would have been much appreciated.

Extremely helpful when I mixed up a date on the booking. Very nice food but extremely slow. Not a big problem, just a bit disorganized

It has a wonderful balcony for relaxing and witching the birds. However, this one suite does not have screens on doors and windows so almost required to run the A/C.

- Neira (7/5): Unusable shower on 2nd floor - Good food and very kind staff on the kitchen The shower is almost unusable due to the lack of water pressure for the upper level. There's almost no water falling from the shower which made our stay unpleasant (after river or beach all we wanted was to refresh ourselves) We signaled this to the staff but the answer was "it's just like that on the other rooms". We tried to upgrade the room, expecting some understanding and reduction but there was no solution or alternative given One night the lights went off for almost 2h, we repeatedly complaint that we would not be able to use the fans or lights but the staff said "the owner is resting and he may not go out to fix it" For the price, I would have expected at least to be able to take a good shower and the staff/owners to pay a closer attention to hosts.

The staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was locally sourced and delicious. We had a great massage an overall it was a very relaxing stay this place is great for a retreat! The shower in our hut could be better as the water had low pressure.

- Linda (10/5): A jungle sanctuary! - A perfect spot to relax and connect with nature. The surroundings are so beautiful and we loved our morning runs and river swims. The restaurant serves up amazing dishes - super tasty and fresh. Salvia Madre is also the perfect base to explore Tayrona and the extraordinarily beautiful Cabo San Juan hike. The massages were fantastic in the garden. Amazing staff (thank you Cindy!) It is a bit trickier if you are traveling without a car but you can ask the owners for a fantastic taxi service (which fetched us in Santa Marta and even drove us to the airport in Cartagena).

Food and drinks where also amazing and lot’s of plans to do. Unfortunately we book a very short time for such paradise. Excellent value for money Nothing, everything perfect. We hope we’ve had more time.
- Jassy (10/5): Best 3 days escape I’ve had in years. - The experience of staying at Salvia Madre was magical. Set in stunning tropical gardens,the huts are very stylish, the food food. All the staff were friendly and helpful. There are many walks close by, the river was great to swim in. The breakfast that was included was beautifully presented, I would highly recommend a stay here, it’s a wonderful escape.
