Guest Reviews
- Susanne (10/5): Great property would highly recommend. Excellent for trips to Arran and exploring Ayreshire - Sweet little cottage tucked behind the owners house. In a quiet street. Comfy beds
It was possibly a converted garage with an extension but well insulated and very nicely furnished. We liked the art. The owner was quick to respond to my questions and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in this property.
The property only has one bathroom which for the twin room occupants could be difficult as it was in the main bedroom. It wasn’t an issue for us as we were a family. We did bring own on cafeteria as there wasn’t one in the kitchen.

- Eleanor (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Fab accommodation, clean and everything you need. N/A
- Isla (9/5): A great option in an area where good accomodation is not plentiful, and almost 10/10! - The cottage is very accessible ( just one step in ) and with parking right outside on drive. Also on public transport route and 10-15 min walk to town or seafront. It’s bright and spotlessly clean with everything you need for a stay including washing machine and a reasonable supply of cooking utensils etc. Nice big smart tv with various apps and easy to control heating and good hot water and shower. Quiet and with access to outdoor space in garden. Very helpful host who was always quick to respond to questions. We found the bed a little firm and unyielding - the mattress seemed quite new but just didn’t have the spring we appreciate for our backs! We missed having a small dining table and I think there is space for one maybe a drop-lead type and the seating was a bit low for comfort - maybe ok for younger people. One other thing we missed was a coffee maker.
- Clare (10/5): Clean, comfortable, responsive host - Clean, comfortable
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Everything you need for a relaxing stay - a home from home - Beautiful cottage with everything you need for a self-catering stay. Facilities were excellent. Location was good - only a short walk into the town and the seafront. Although we didn't meet Richard, the host, he messaged with all the info we needed for the stay. There really was nothing that I can think of that would have made the stay any better. Richard does an excellent job with the property.
- Andrew (10/5): relaxed chilled stay at the seaside - perfect base from which to explore Ayrshire - everything was very clean and of high spec quality. Richard is a great host, very knowledgeable and helpful. Dexter the dog very friendly 😀 no complaints
- Alan (9/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable stay at Laighdykes Cottage - Spacious, well equiped and very clean property. Has a washing machine and access to a small external gym. Richard was great to deal with. Very little. Internet performance was a bit uneven depending on which part of the property you were located.
- Leonie (7/5): Good - Clean, good host, perfect location. One toilet for two rooms, bathroom inside one of the bedrooms. Small kitchen / pans for four people.
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bailey (10/5): Exceptional - It was in a great location and it was a nice place and it felt like home from home everything we needed was there. I Will book again Nothing it was all good
- Malcolm (10/5): Fresh and comfortable - The apartment was new, fresh and comfortable. We were self- catering so we're pleased to have such a lovely kitchen in which to prepare food.
The bed was comfortable and the linen was fresh. We requested a clothes airer and had it in minutes! They were so obliging and made our stay very happy.
Supermarket was a short drive away. a nice area to be in. Nothing
- Nicola (9/5): We had a lovely stay. Loved the decor and was great value. - Beautifully appointed. Very clean. Very modern. Very comfortable. Having to share a bathroom which was en-suite in one room
- Bradley (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (10/5): Excellent - The accommodation was very tastefully decorated and very spacious.
- Marjorie (8/5): we were visiting family. - the property and garden were very good. only issue is there is an ensuite in double front bedroom, but no family bathroom. The other bedroom which is through the lounge and kitchen have to come through front bedroom to get to the toilet in the night. Sorry put that comment above.
we liked the property .
- Rob (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): We had a lovely stay and will definitely be returning. - The communication with the owner was great, the property was amazing , it was spotless, modern and a very high standard with the decor, it had absolutely everything you needed there and the garden was absolutely beautiful. we was so close to our family.
- Denise (10/5): A peaceful, relaxing, enjoyable week. - Welcoming hosts, clean, bright, airy, spacious, lovely artwork, gorgeous sun trap garden with the bonus of a Gym. Easy parking, close to Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston and 5 minutes away from our daughters house. Watching sunset over Arran. We like to leave the place as we found it but there was no Hoover or a dustpan and brush. We would have liked a bath but the shower was perfect for a short stay.
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptionally kind and helpful hosts and excellent accommodation. Would definitely go again -
- Mike (10/5): Nice people clean and comfortable, would definitely stay again - Very comfortable , spotless and loved the old telephone box in the garden
- Amy (10/5): excellent 2 night break - We booked with another couple for a new year/birthday treat . At first we thought the price was incorrect as it was so reasonably priced for new year .
Richard , the owner was superb and always kept in contact throughout the stay .
Rooms were spacious , very comfortable and WARM! (in fact we turned the radiators off a few times as we're worried about the bills)
kitchen well equipped .
everywhere was spotless
beds comfortable
good location to town centre the only thing for us was the bathroom was an en suite in one of the rooms (it does say this in description, )
but travelling with another couple it wasn't ideal but didn't effect stay at all .
- Desiree (10/5): Highly recommend!!! - Loved everything about Laighdykes guest cottage. It was like a home away from home. Would hightly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet stay in a lovely, clean and comfortable apartment in a great location. Nothing not to like.
