Guest Reviews
- Clive (10/5): Will be returning at the earliest opportunity - Location is just amazing, the property is secluded and perfect for a modern world detox
- Lesley (10/5): A truly fantastic experience in this eco hut which was beautifully prepared of excellent quality in - Breakfast items in the fridge - perfect. Everything we needed. Good information beforehand so we knew what to expect and could add extras of our choice like fruit and yoghurt. The weather!
- Fay (10/5): Absolutely fantastic - can't wait to visit again! - The location was just gorgeous and what the doctor ordered! We came here to celebrate our wedding and we just fell in love with it - we found a little rope swing and just enjoyed sitting there with the sheep and a woodpecker! Honestly there just wasn't anything we didn't like. It was actually way more than what we expected it to be. The condition of the hut was also top notch you would have thought it was a day old, as it is just so well looked after.
- Eve (10/5): Beautiful views, peaceful location, very comfortable accommodation with full amenities - Our second stay and just as great as our first. Fantastic location, total privacy, peace and quiet. We got to meet the lovely Emma which was nice. And lots of goodies in the fridge for breakfast, plus a couple of welcome gifts. Love this slice of heaven and will return again. We visited Petworth House, great place & we did the Black Down walk. Well worth it. For us everything was perfect đ€©
- Louise (10/5): Perfect spot to get away and relax - Secluded peaceful location, equipped with everything you need

- Deesha (10/5): Out of this world - All of it exceptional Attention to detail peaceful wild no one around excellent kitchen and hot shower
- Geertje (10/5): Glorious setting, beautiful accommodation. Loved it. - It was an amazingly well appointed shepherds hut with many many small touches that made it special. That we were only there for one night.
- Leonti (10/5): Exceptional -
- Unta (10/5): Tranquil escape from London with some decent walks nearby. I cannot wait to return! - This hut is so beautifully framed by oaks and nestled alongside sheep fields. We loved the outlook just as much as the attention to detail that went into the design and finishings of the hut.
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional - Everything !!! Not
- Jasmine (9/5): Beautiful stay every little touch was prepared like sandles, water bottles, fresh towels, fresh flowers you name it it w - Absolutely stunning / clean / had everything you need.
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dave (10/5): Convenient and relaxing escape from city life. - Wonderful weekend escape. The hut offered the privacy we were hoping for while still conveniently located near walking trails and a lovely country pub. The attention to detail at the property was first class. Nothing.
- Kimbo (10/5): Exceptional - The whole experience was amazing. The only disappointment was I was hoping to see the sheep out the front đ€Ł
- Matthew (10/5): The perfect night - All the little extras that the host thought about made it special from the food in the fridge to the local guides, both the fire pit and the fire place were both laid and ready to use with sufficient extra wood available. The view was beautiful, and the peace and quiet amazing. My wife would have liked a USB c charging unit (mine worked fine, lol)
- Eve (10/5): Beautiful peaceful idyllic retreat. - This is a perfect idyllic retreat, peaceful & rural. Instructions on finding it were very good and we had no issues. The hut is comfortable and attention to detail was spot on. Everything you could need to make the stay enjoyable was taken care of. The view was beautiful with just the gentle sound of birds, bees and the occasional sheep. We used the outdoor kitchen, which had everything you needed. The gas grill was great, so much so we are going to buy one ourselves. There are cushions, blankets, kindling, logs & lighters, so it was very easy to use the outdoor fire pit. The area is gently lit by solar lights at night so it made star gazing a joy. I could go on forever about how amazing this place is. It was helped that we had great weather to enjoy it. We will definitely be back! Canât think of anything, for us it was perfect.
- Lee (10/5): Amazing. Would highly recommend! - everthing nothing
- Anderson (10/5): Perfect - Beautifully presented Shepherd hut - amazing craftsmanship! So cosy and beautiful setting - we loved the outdoor kitchen too
- Richard (8/5): Very peaceful and relaxing - Did not bother with breakfast Would have liked a toaster but you don't have electricity
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (10/5): Off grid perfection x - Impeccably clean and totally idyllic. The view was breathtaking. Emma had thought of everything you could possibly need for a perfect stay. If there is rain forecasted - take ear plugs! The rain on the roof at night wasnât the relaxing noise youâd imagine!
- White (10/5): Peaceful, Tranquil.... Perfect! - What an absolutely amazing place to stay, my partner and I enjoyed an evening sat around the fire pit using their outdoor BBQ facilities, and as the evening got colder we put the log burner on inside and sat and played some games.
The bed was so comfy, my concern before I got there was that I'm 6ft and didn't know if I would fit in the bed, but there is more than enough room, I reckon you could be 6ft 5in and still have plenty of room!
The little kitchen was perfect and had all the utensils for what you'll need to do any cooking.
The bathroom was lovely, and my partner and I couldn't believe the size of the shower that was in there, my partner also could stop washing her hands in the bathroom because the hand soap that is provided smells like nothing I've ever smelt before, it really was so nice!
All in all this place was immaculate, the attention to detail was perfect, and if you are looking for a quiet tranquil place to stay to forget about the stresses of life then this is it!
My partner and I will be booking again. This is not a reflection on the Sheppard's hut but the kitchen in the pub down the end of the track doesn't open until 18:30, so we didn't bother going to the pub for dinner as we didn't want to waste the evening sat there and not around our fire pit enjoying the evening sun going down over the hills!
- Hannah (10/5): The most relaxing place to be - remarkable. every detail was considered, the most relaxing wonderful place to be.
- Rafal (10/5): Exceptional -

- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (10/5): Perfect - Everything about it is perfect. Outside space is lovely with great fire pit, barbecue and outside kitchen. Attention to detail in the hut is impressive. Bed is really comfortable and itâs very peaceful at night. Love it and canât wait to stay again.
- Ben (10/5): Perfect for those looking for peace and quiet. - This is the perfect location for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy towns and cities. No expense has been spared on this beautifully made shepherds hut and the location has to be seen to truly appreciated. The barbecue hut has all the equipment youâll need to cook a nice meal for two. Canât wait to go back .
- Karl (10/5): Tranquil -
- Olesja (10/5): Excellent - Perfect đ„° superb location, great atmosphere, amazing hosts. No bad thing to mention
- David (10/5): A wonder of compact living, from the most thoughtful of hosts - The shepherds hut is a wonder of compact living, with everything considered and made to the highest standard. A truly lovely experience and one to be repeated Nothing at all, everything was very good
- Phil (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (10/5): Best. Stay. Ever. - The scenery was beautiful, it was like a corner of heaven tucked away, the hut itself was gorgeous, so cozy and had absolutely everything we needed.
The hosts were fabulous in putting a birthday banner up, leaving behind milk, eggs, butter, bread, jam and plenty of utilities for us
The bathroom was lovely! We didn't quite understand the shower but the toilet, whilst daunting at first, was actually lovely, it's completely quiet and works so well!
The bed was so comfortable, it was lovely to be able to close the shutters and just feel warm and safe, and be able to wake up to the sun shining and relax outside first thing The front doors don't have curtains which scared me a little bit once it got dark đ but that's absolutely the only "negative" I can think of!
- Rahman (10/5): Great getaway to switch off city life - Loved that it was Eco friendly
Great space, clean, tidy and had some games to play
Emma the landlady is lovely and very hospitable.
Thought the toilet might be an issue, but actually it was great and got me thinking how we can be more eco friendly at home
- Becky (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was exceptional- location, facilities, bedding, towels, food and special touches left for us to enjoy!
Huge thank you to Emma for putting up Happy Birthday banner for me to surprise my partner! N/A
- Anonymous (8/5): We had a lovely stay, great for a couples romantic getaway - Secluded/private, beautiful views, well equipped, comfortable bed, fire pit Toilet facilities
- H. (10/5): Beautiful Shepherd's Hut stay - Lovely touches throughout incl. Firewood already prepared ready to light was very appreciated! Beautifully located under Oak trees, everything clean (being a cleaner myself I normally touch up certain bits but didn't feel the need to do so), everything kept minimal and tidy and very welcoming and nice colours and different places to sit down. We had a wonderful stay and can imagine to be back! Shame it seems no stay during winter is possible. I thought it would be very private and secluded but there actually is a public footpath across the field in the view so you will see some people walking there which would have been good to know, but they will be walking in quite a distance.
Shower can only run for 10 minutes so not to overheat so I was glad I read it in the welcome guide. :-)
I felt the need to rinse the cups before using as they had some fluff in them from drying with tea towels and one had a rim of coffee/tea residue that I couldn't get out. đ
The sun comes around quite late, afternoon'ish.
But these are just little things among all the good and lovely aspects of it all! :-)
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Hard to know where to start as our stay here was just so wonderful! As soon as we arrived we felt so at home. There was everything you could possibly need and more. The host was so helpful and really went that extra mile to make everything perfect for us. The evening was so magical-sipping wine by the fire and watching the stars.
Would highly recommend and we will definitely go back.
Perfect night away đ
- Vicky (10/5): The best shepherds hut! - Setting is gorgeous and so peaceful. A lot of care and thought went into little things and thatâs appreciated, I looked at one other shepherds hut and they required that you bring your own bedding. for the price and the quality of the hut it was just amazing. Was able to message host for an item left behind and was sent back promptly.
Lovely hut, brilliant facilities. Will 100% be back. n/a
- Andrew (9/5): A very comfortable stay in a lovely location - We loved how remote this was and so well thought of and done. We had lots of planes and helicopters flying throughâŠâŠ but not surprising as not too far from Gatwick airport
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Beautiful, secluded location. Very clean, top notch facilities. Lovely little personal touches. Nothing.
- Madeline (10/5): Exceptional - It was so cosy I felt immediately at home there. You have so much privacy and itâs such a good place to go to have down time away from your phone and normal life.
- Emmeline (10/5): Sussex woodland gem - The privacy. Being in the woods with such a peaceful outlook over the fields to Black Down. Hearing the owls at night.
- Anonymous (10/5): Amazing ⊠would recommend to anyone looking for a few off grid tranquil days. - So peacefulâŠ.. beautifully laid out ⊠Fantastic hosts Seriously nothing not to like
- Anonymous (9/5): Unique and romantic get away for couples - beautiful location
Eco friendly
Delicious breakfast
Worth the money for an experience - which we had stayed longer! Could have a blind over the door, though your not over looked, can be disconcerting ïżŒwalking from the bed to the bathroom in the middle of the night
- Charlotte (10/5): A delight - Food/drink supplied for our arrival superb
Off-grid a delight.
- Surbhi (10/5): Exceptional - The best place to escape from daily routine life.... Entire place was very beautiful, clean, peaceful with amazing view.... I really enjoyed my stay..... the host was very welcoming and sweet.... I'll definitely go back again â€ïž
