Street noise was quite loud (though they did give me the option to have an internal room without windows). It was warm in my room and I asked for a fan (also to drown out some of the external noise) but they didn't have any fans, which surprised me!

- Arquitectura (5/5): Agradecida con el personal amable, estadía regular, el hotel necesita renovarse. - Aunque nuestra estadía fue muy corta, me gustó la cercanía con el aeropuerto, nuestro vuelo salía tarde y fue más seguro ir de ese punto con las maletas hacia allá. Así que la ubicación es muy buena. Respecto a las instalaciones, la cama fue ideal, un tamaño generoso y cómodo, con sábanas limpias y frescas. El personal también fue amable, en especial las personas que nos ayudaron guardando nuestras maletas para nosotros ir al parque Amaru, muy hermoso por cierto. Entonces fuimos con esa tranquilidad de que las cosas están seguras y luego regresamos y nos las devolvieron. En la reserva en línea de la habitación, incluía el desayuno, si se pedía plato a la carta este tendría un valor adicional, al realizar la reserva la descripción dice: "...Su reserva incluye: Desayuno continental para todos los huéspedes Wi-Fi de alta velocidad Todas las comodidades estándar Servicios Adicionales y Tarifas: Upgrade de desayuno: Cualquier desayuno a la carta por $3 por persona.." Al confirmar en recepción esto, nos dijeron que no. Si no es así, mejor quitarlo de la página, ya que no es verdad. Sobre las instalaciones: En el baño, las juntas de las baldosas no estaban muy limpias. Al ser baldosa blanca y el empore negro habían marcas de moho. La pared de la habitación "Deluxe" que en nuestro caso fue la que reservamos estaba rayada con lápiz una especie de garabatos. El cielo raso reticulado con paneles Amstrong estaban muy deteriorados debido al tiempo y otros factores. En la página web de reserva (booking.com) indicaba la hora del check out a las 14:00, pero en le hotel se indicaba que era a las 12:00. Esto generó confusión. De igual manera no hicimos problema y salimos antes de esa hora.

That night I called the hotel reception and they just said “SORRY THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO” (2) This time they gave me a room in the 2nd floor. OMG it was really really noisy. I normally wake up at 7, but that day I woke up at 5:30 am. I recommend all guest NOT TO CHOOSE 2nd floor. Please stay from 4th floor and above.

IMHO, low-season or "spring/fall shoulder season" travel is best to most places, as staff have more time to clean and help customers. There is traffic circle road noise in the city-view rooms. Noise-sensitive visitors may need to request a room facing away from the traffic circle or bring/wear foam earplugs. I always pack and travel with foam earplugs, just in case. Enjoyed a Chicken Salad and fresh Blackberry/"Mora" Juice at the hotel restaurant, too.

This will definite - I could not recommend Hotel Italia (Cuenca, Ecuador) more highly! It's a truly wonderful hotel in every way: the rooms, the staff and the location (and the price!). The room: I stayed in a Standard Single room and I had absolutely zero reason to complain. It was cleaned to the highest standard, not even a tiny, single loose hair etc. anywhere and the bed... When booking a single room, I expected a single bed, but the bed was gigantic (could've probably fit an entire family haha) and so incredibly comfortable. The staff: So incredibly friendly and you could just feel that their desire for your stay to be as pleasant as possible, is truly genuine, coming straight from the heart. I had a special requirement (which I informed the hotel about, before my arrival, at the time of booking) and they have truly exceeded my expectations, in trying to help me as best as they could. The location: The location was a very important thing for me, as I really wanted to be close to both, the airport (Cuenca Mariscal Lamar International) and the Cuenca bus station (Terminal Terrestre) in order for my journey to be as easy as possible and... Hotel Italia was the perfect choice, as it is a WALKING distance from both! About 8 minute walk to the bus station and 15 minutes to the airport.
