- Josephine (10/5): A truly special hotel and mgmt with thoughtful touches and an amazing focus on the details to make your stay wonderful. - We had such a lovely time at The Deanwood Hotel! From the moment we arrived, we got the warmest, friendliest welcome and instantly felt at home. The hotel and our rooms were spotlessly clean, really comfortable, and full of thoughtful little touches — things like handy hooks, lovely mugs to drink from, and even a hot water bottle waiting for us. The beds were amazingly comfy, too!
Breakfast was delicious, fresh and beautifully cooked, with loads of great options. And when we were leaving, Kevin even warmed our walking boots for us — such a kind and thoughtful gesture!
It’s a gorgeous, comfortable, and genuinely welcoming place to stay, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend it! There is nothing to dislike. This is one of the very best places I’ve stayed in my life and I’ve travelled extensively for business and leisure.
- Folarin (10/5): - The owner was really nice and friendly. Perfect location to everything I wanted. Nothing
- Hazel (10/5): - The hosts were really helpful. We were travelling by electric bike and were able to store them securely under cover with access to a socket for charging. The thoughtful extras in the room (eg. Cotton wool) we're appreciated and the breakfast was great.
- Ayusmita (8/5): Amazing stay! - Awesome property and great hospitality. Loved staying there with my daughter. Love to go back again. Highly recommend! None
- David (9/5): -
- Lisa (7/5): Comfortable stay. - I was able to store my bike securely.
Very welcoming hosts. A nice quiet location. Good breakfast. Comfortable stay. It was all good.
No negatives.
- Lorna (10/5): Excellent hotel. Very friendly hosts and staff - Everything about our visit was exceptional. Hotel was in an ideal place walking distance to the beach. The hosts were amazing. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean.
Would definitely recommend this hotel. We liked everything.
- John (9/5): -
- Simon (9/5): really great guesthouse owners were welcoming and nothing was too much touble we'll stay next time - breakfast was great
- MORDYUKOV (5/5): If you change the mattress, then you can close your eyes to the rest of the shortcomings. - There are no questions about breakfast, it's wonderful! It was a very cramped bathroom, and I drained the water for a very long time until the hot water finally started running. Of all the disadvantages, the biggest is the mattress! It's probably old and has lost its qualities. My wife and I were afraid to roll off it, and this caused concern.
- Peter (8/5): -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rob (10/5): Lovely, well looked after Hotel/B&B near the Seafront - Clean, quiet with well kept rooms. A good choice for breakfast, with friendly owners who clearly care for their property and guests. Nothing to dislike

Made you feel as if you were at home. Cleanliness excellent and the hotel is clearly looked after. Book with confidence. Nothing.
- Mahtab (8/5): Very good - Sara & Kevin are very nice and serve the best coffee of Isle of Wight! Some bathrooms are small.
- Erik (10/5): Great - Good
- Adrian (10/5): Home away from home - Home away from home !..Kevin and Sara have been most warm and friendly welcoming us in their home.
Great rooms, clean and equipped with everything that's needed for a holiday. Excellent breakfast, Kevin went out of the way to create an almost bespoke breakfast and his coffee was excellent!
Location is also perfect for accessing the esplanade and the high street. Free parking. Great local advice from Kevin and Sara, try The Reef restaurant just a few minutes away !
We felt great and we will return, highly recommended place, book with confidence. Nothing.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - People and location
- Bob (10/5): Excellent in every way and happy to recommend unreservedly - All the usual conveniences of course but Kevin and Sara went that extra mile to provide a warm and relaxing experience. Casual but professional - a great place to stay in a central location in Sandown a few minutes from the sea. Sorry I couldn't stay longer!

- Krystal (9/5): Lovely getaway! - Our stay at Denewood Hotel in Sandown was nothing short of delightful. We were fortunate to have a lovely room on the ground floor, which was both cosy and tastefully decorated, making it feel like a home away from home. The attention to detail in the room’s design added a charming and comfortable ambiance that was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast, which was included in our booking. The hotel offers a great selection from their breakfast menu, catering to various tastes. I was particularly impressed with their flexibility in accommodating special requests. I prefer tinned peeled plum tomatoes over the usual grilled tomatoes, and they were happy to make that change for me. The breakfast itself was hearty and satisfying, setting us up perfectly for the day ahead.
Prior to our arrival, Sara was wonderful to communicate with. She was easy to get hold of and happy to answer any questions we had, which made our check-in process smooth and stress-free. Upon arriving at the hotel, both Sara and Kevin were incredibly welcoming, immediately making us feel at home.
Kevin, was an absolute pleasure to talk to. He was incredibly friendly and offered us fantastic tips on places to visit around the island, as well as insightful information that enriched our experience. His local knowledge really enhanced our trip, and his warm demeanor made us feel very welcome.
Overall, our experience at Denewood Hotel was wonderful. From the cosy, well-decorated room to the delicious and accommodating breakfast, and the exceptional hospitality from Sara and Kevin, it was a stay to remember. I would highly recommend Denewood Hotel to anyone visiting Sandown - I will definitely be back!! While our stay at Denewood Hotel in Sandown was overall enjoyable, there were a couple of areas that could be improved to make the experience even better.
The bed in our room was a small double, which made it a bit challenging for us to stretch out and get fully comfortable. A larger bed would have made for a more relaxing sleep.
The bathroom and shower, while functional, felt a little dated and could benefit from some updates. The water pressure in the shower was also on the lower side, which made it less refreshing than we would have liked. A few modern touches in the bathroom would certainly enhance the overall comfort.
These aspects didn’t detract from our stay, but addressing them would definitely elevate the experience at Denewood Hotel.
- Linda (10/5): Our stay at The Denewood was a memorable introduction to the Isle of Wight - The breakfast was outstanding. The personal connection with Sara and Kevin fantastic. They were friendly, helpful and extremely obliging in fulfilling every request. Highly recommended. The water pressure in the shower was very weak.
- James (10/5): 10/10 - My stay at the Denewood hotel was excellent and all the staff were brilliant and couldn’t be more helpful. The room was spotless and had everything u could ever need. The full English breakfast was excellent. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for accommodation on the Isle of Wight .
- Shuhan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (8/5): Great hosts who have thought of everything for a atay - Central location, short walk to beach and very short walk to bus stop N/A
- Michael (10/5): A great holiday, with The Denewood Hotel playing a major part in that. - The breakfast was personally cooked for us each day. We sent our choices by text the night before. The food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, and very tasty. As for the location, it's just a couple of minutes from the seafront, with free parking outside, and bus stops just down the road. It could hardly be better. We also want to record that the proprietors, Sara and Kevin, were exemplary in the way they looked after us and their other guests. I can't imagine that you will find a better place to stay on the Isle of Wight than here - honestly! To be frank, there is absolutely nothing that we can, or would want to, complain about. This hotel ticked every box for us.
- Christine (9/5): Superb - Welcoming host. Nothing
- Joanne (9/5): Extremely welcoming, clean, comfortable. Brilliant hosts. - Sarah and Kevin’s place is great. They are super hospitable and accommodating. They went the extra mile in every way. Extremely clean, extremely engaging and welcoming. Curtains would enhance the experience during the summer months when the room fills with light at 4/4.30. I’m a light sleeper and affected by light. But it wouldn’t stop me staying again - everything else was great!
- Colin (10/5): Excellent - would recommend and we would return if on IOW again - Room was set up lovely, spacious and very clean.
It has everything you could need. Nothing
- Les (10/5): Excellent value for money and fabulous hosts. - Everything was perfect. Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): Great place to stay - Great hotel, lovely hosts, very clean and tidy, great breakfast.
- Adam (10/5): Great small hotel find on the Isle of Wight. - Hotel owners are super friendly , rooms are really clean & well kitted and breakfast is excellent

- Colin (10/5): Had a wonderful time and would love to return. - Location perfect as have family living nearby.
Could not fault the breakfast it was exceptional. N/A
- Roberts (10/5): Very friendly - happily stay again. -
- Beverley (10/5): Excellent - Breakfast was delicious Nothing everything was excellent
- Alan (10/5): Really enjoyed staying at the hotel and will definitely recommend it to friends and will use them ag - The breakfast was excellent good selection, location good 2 minuets away from the beach, Kevin and Sarah were great hosts very friendly and accommodating Nothing at all
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Alexander (8/5): Well maintained traditional look and feel with hosts making an effort. - Very good breakfast Sandown itself is not overly beautiful but that is obviously out of the control of the B&B.
- Andrew (10/5): I made a great choice - I will stay again and not even considering other properties in Sandown - The Denewood is extremely well presented and clean; it is very convenient for the sea front, the town centre and the local public transport; and the breakfast was excellent and rooms comfortable and well appointed. Added onto all this is that Sara and Kevin are very friendly and helpful hosts - and the rest of the staff are great too. Notably, the bar is pleasant and the great prices makes going elsewhere for an adult beverage or two an unattractive option. Nothing.
- Chris (10/5): Amazing. If you go to Sandown , stay here. - Above and beyond in every respect. Great room, great breakfast, great location but above all that they went an extra mile in everything they could. Nothing not to like.
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - Location, dining room, lounge, room, biscuits, drinking water, fridge, towels, chocolates Water pressure in shower too low. Quality of mattress was too uncomfortable.
- Shaun (10/5): We were well looked after - It was so clean Nothing
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Kevin and Sarah were very welcoming and our breakfast was lovely! N/A
- Jackie (10/5): Sara and - Upon arriving at The Denewood Sara and Kevin made us feel very welcome. On arrival we were shown round — dining room, lounge and bar. The breakfast menu was explained to us; we had never seen such a great menu before, from continental to full English, plus so many other combinations. There is no way you would go hungry. The bedroom had a double bed, washbasin, separate shower and toilet. Added bonuses were a very good hairdryer, a fan, and a small fridge which held a pint of milk, plus two small bottles. Towels and fresh drinking water were provided every day, plus chocolates. Car parking, directly outside the front door, is free. Sandown beach and local shops and restaurants are about five minutes’ walk from the hotel. The stop for buses to Ryde and Brading is at the bottom of the road. Buses for Shanklin, Newport etc can be caught just round the corner in the high street. Would highly recommend this B&B. Nothing
- Elaine (10/5): Lovely friendly hotel - Enjoyable stay All good
- Hilarys (9/5): Superb - The Wifi was very efficient. There was a good choice for breakfast.
- Patrice (9/5): Very pleasant and great value for money. - Sara and Kevin were very hospitable and friendly hosts who made us feel welcomed. They also provided tips about available attractions nearby. This was very good value for money. Although the shower stalls were a bit small for a few members in our party, they were quite clean.
- Diane (10/5): We had a good short stay. Next time a few more days. - We really liked our welcome. Our plans/timetables didn't go according to our original plan.
Rooms very clean.
Good to see the bar was open when we got back. Guinness excellent. Hospitality great.
We will recommend them. The only thing was we couldn't get the shower working. We mentioned it and it was sorted straight away.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joan (10/5): Great - Kevin and Sara were amazing. They took such good care of us. We came back with bikes and woke them up at night with our noise but they were so patient and helped us find a safe place to put them away. The breakfasts were very good, the atmosphere was homely and if we had a chance to go back to Wight again we’ll stay there again.
- Deepa (9/5): Superb -

Would defiantly return again and recommend to friends & family. Nothing really !!
- Flatt7 (7/5): Good - The room was very nice, had all the hot drinks including hot chocolate! Good night's sleep. Breakfast was fine. Good value for money imo. Owner a little loud, very nice seeming person, just a touch loud for me.
- John (10/5): Great stay and lovely people. - Loved the friendly owners and the quiet low season getaway. The layout and lounge felt like home away from home. The fresh eggs from onsite chickens are a nice bonus. Bathroom could have been a bit bigger but it was clean and adequate and nice to have our own ensuite
- Kerstin (9/5): Great place to stay! - Breakfast was really good: Individually prepared and delicious! You had many different choices!
