- Kate (9/5): I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if I was in the area. - A proper villager pub, with a wonderful landlady. Nothing was too much trouble.
Very friendly and I was made to feel so welcome.
Quirky decoration was a nice touch.
Great tracks to walk behind the pub and plenty of parking. Mattress was a little ‘average’ Otherwise lovely
- Jane (9/5): Excellent . - The staff were very friendly and the bed was really comfortable . Lovely clean room. Couldn’t fault it
- Matthew (9/5): - Lovely local pub with a delightful owner and staff.
- Becca (8/5): I loved my stay so much and have recommended it to all my friends and family. I would definitely return! - The rooms were extremely comfortable, homely yet felt luxurious. I felt like I was staying in someone’s home and found the chatting from the pub downstairs in the evenings quite comforting, especially being on my own. When I got back from work late, I joined Margaret and some regulars at the bar and it was such a lovely way to end the day. Meeting Margaret was the absolute highlight. She looked after me so well and even though I was the only one staying on the Friday night, she got up and made sure I had the exact breakfast I wanted. Such a lovely lady and made me feel so at home. The initial price I thought was quite high but after staying I can see why and think it’s worth the money! They are short staffed and can become overwhelmed on a busy dinner evening!
- Alex (10/5): A gem of a place for St Giles House events! Or a little weekend away! - Absolutely fabulous accommodation in a gorgeous local pub! Tastefully decorated! Very comfortable bed, impeccably clean and Margaret the landlady could not do enough for us! Perfect stay far a wedding at St Giles House Nothing to complain about!

- Janet (6/5): The accommodation was stylish, clean and comfortable. - The style of the interiors was very artistic and interesting. The bedroom was pleasant, clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The host was very pleasant & friendly. There was no ‘Baileys’ or Bombay sapphire gin available in the bar.
There was no written menu offered for breakfast.
The scrambled egg served with breakfast was inedible, due to the oily consistency.
There was no brown sauce available for breakfast.
No marmalade served with breakfast.
Had to repeat request for fruit juice, kept waiting for it.
Thought the price of breakfast was high considering the poor quality.
- Jmjf (9/5): Fabulous gem of a spot in the countryside - utterly idyllic! - Fabulous couple of nights staying at The Cockerel. Margaret and her team were superb - nothing was too much trouble. Really felt like we were staying with friends. Excellent breakfasts, no menu - you just tell Margaret what you would like the day before and what time, and it was all deliciously served. Small, cosy, and perfectly formed in every way. An utter delight and a gem to have found. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
- Freddie (10/5): Countryside idyllic escape - Truly had the most wonderful stay at this property. From the quality of the bedding, the furnishings in the room to the breakfast the next morning - everything was incredibly homely. Would gladly stay again!
- Jon (10/5): As above - Margaret and her team were most welcoming. Her background in interior design was evident throughout the property. Breakfast sitting outside was simply divine. Nothing
- Sara (9/5): quintessential beautiful country gastropub with fabulous food. - Beautiful remote location, fabulous food, very comfortable bed, lovely view, quirky art - really stylish little place. Will be looking for a reason to stay again! Nothing
- Humphrey (8/5): Really warm, welcoming and comfortable. Great supper as well. - Great but would have been good to be able to book through Booking.com It is still a work in progress after being left in a real state by previous operators but the current operators seem very dedicated and there were some lovely touches.
- Nerys (9/5): Well looked after in a beautiful location. Nothing was too much trouble. - The landlady, Margaret, was superb and made us feel so welcome.
The room was cosy and the food was delicious - we had evening meal (in front of the fire) and breakfast.
