Guest Reviews
- Chris (10/5): Fantastic - So peaceful
Will definitely be going again
- kees (1/5): The shortest stay ever - Absolutely nothing. We made no use of it and went to another hotel. The place was very difficult to find, overgrown with nettles, ice cold, heater a miracle, no welcome note and no clue where the bathroom was located.
- Kez (8/5): Little bits to upgrade - The solitude no tv and relaxing. Nice to get away from everything and have a bit of time alone Nothing that I really didn't like but think a few subtle changes could be made. Slightly longer bed I'm 6' foot 1,and a thicker mattress. Probably storage in the 2 box ends of bed. Vinyl cushion floor in toilet and shower area. Toilet roll holder and towel rail, mirror in toilet. Somewhere to hang clothes in the shower area, towel hook, mirror, and probably a little bench on a wood slatted floor to change and keep feet dry on getting out of shower. But overall, I was very happy and would stay again.
- Derek (6/5): Wix Shepherds Hut - Wonderful setting in the corner of a field with a lovely lawn/tree behind the hut and adjacent to a building housing a toilet, shower room and a kitchen with washing up facilities.
When a team of cleaners arrived (which didn't take long) they were brilliant and on my return the hut was lovely and clean/tidy with the exception of the entrance step being sorted.!! On arrival the hut was untidy, hadn't been cleaned, the bed hadn't been made and access into the hut was almost impossible for me as someone with mobility issues.
The step up into the hut was found a few yards away, but when put back into place it was too rickety and unsafe to use. The local farmer was supposed to come sort it for me but he didn't materialise.
In the end I sorted this issue myself using caravan step that I had in my van.
- Louisa (1/5): If this is how they treat customers, don’t waste your time! - It was in a lovely location but we agreed to arrive between 3-4pm. Why I don’t know as there was a key safe to which we were not given the code until I arrived and had to email Paul for the code. The steps out of the hut are frankly dangerous and not fit for purpose. Really awful! The shower and loo appeared ok. When we eventually gained access as I said previously the steps were some old brick block. Very dangerous. The hut hadn’t been cleaned since the previous occupant. Dirty plates bins and bedding it smelt bad. The advertised gas bbq was a rust bucket, filthy and clearly a health hazard , not sure if it even worked. Table outside filthy. I got the impression this is a side to the main business and no thought or care put into it. When I sent photos of the state of the place I was told I could “try” and get a housekeeper out or offer a refund. I took the refund. No other accommodation available in the area so we had to head home. Over 2 hours getting there and then the return journey. A long and very expensive disappointing day! No offer of compensation for travel costs.
- Eleftheriou (10/5): Really lovely off grid experience - Beautifully done inside the shepherds hut. Some spiders in the shower but fine for the off grid experience.
- Jason (6/5): Pleasant -
- Steven (8/5): Will be Back - Location is beautiful
Left alone Maybe introduce blinds / curtains
Build step outside front
- Ligita (6/5): Didn't feel welcomed - Garden and shower. Nettles around the hut. Didn't look welcome. Toilet full of spiders.
- Claire (1/5): Arrived and left within 20 minutes. - Nice pastry and strawberry welcome pack. Unable to eat it though as had to leave as Shephards hut not as advertised. It’s positioned on the other side of a hedge to the road in a farmers crop field overlooking large modern storage facilities. The step up to the front door which is stiff is on concrete blocks with a small unstable plastic step perched on top.
- Matthew (10/5): Paul was great. Super nice, loved our stay - Fantastic experience Nothing. Love it.
- Gina (3/5): Could be lovely with a bit of tlc - Clean. Nice touches like the table and chairs.wood burner. Some t/bags and coffee. Two bottles of water. Good wood panelling. Shower was clean looks new. Could do with a key to outside door. No curtains, very exposed. Dreadful excuse for a bed! No plates/bowls. Gas wouldn't light. Water? Usb didn't work, could do with a shelf to put phone on whilst changing, if the usb port worked. Could do with a small fridge. Outside nettles.wobbly loose breeze blocks as steps. Unable to stay the 3 nights booked due mainly because of the bed
- Holland (10/5): Brilliant and perfect - It was so peaceful just what me and my partner needed for a couplenofbdays alone There was nuffing not to like it was perfect for both of us we enjoy the time we had together at the lodge
