Guest Reviews
- Susan (9/5): Short break - Superb views so wasn't bothered by awful weather.
Warm and cosy
Well equipped
Clean Slight damp smell downstairs.
Right next to the car ferry which didn't bother us but it does run from 7 am so if you like to sleep in , you will be disturbed by it..
- Michael (9/5): Overall a very nice place to stay. - The views were spectacular from both the dining room & veranda with something happening on the river from dawn until dusk. We were so close to the ferry we could watch it coming & going very useful for travel to Fowey & points beyond, either in the car or as a foot passenger. We were going to strip the beds but did not continue when we removed a duvet cover & discovered black mould markes, These were historic but not very nice to see.
- Jane (9/5): Idyllic - The view across to Fowey was stunning and having the choice of the dining room or terrace to marvel over this view, was wonderful. The terrace was also very convenient for the dog.
We loved the open plan apartment upstairs and the red settee, as well as the cosy bedrooms downstairs. The whole cottage was so well equipped and full of character. The extra toilet and 2 bathrooms were much appreciated, as were all the lovely books, including a set of Daphne Du Maurier's work and her pictorial memoir. This included a chapter about the cottage she lived in next door (a fascinating read called Enchanting Cornwall).
We had such a wonderful holiday and felt so lucky to be able to stay here.
Thank you. 🤗 *Parking was a little tricky but we managed to park on the hill and later a space became available right outside, which was ideal.
*The ferry is very convenient, just below the cottage but you can only pay for single fares and it soon mounts up if, like me, you can't resist going back and forth to beautiful Fowey.
- Alison (8/5): - Lovely welcome package, great views Parking was tricky, should not really be described as having parking as spaces on road were never available.
- Faasao (8/5): Apart from all the above, we have had an amazing holiday, thank you for having us Tabs Cottage and the team 🩷🩷 - Big for all of us, has everything we needed and close to the Ferry and the pub. Beautiful sunset from the balcony. No parking space for the property, you have to find your own parking which was a bit frustrating and the wifi was not working well, although we didn’t need it but thought I’ll mention that.

- James (8/5): Beautiful Cornish coast on your door step. - Three bathrooms , well equipped kitchen , nice complimentary bits to welcome you. Makes a big difference to get scones, jam, clotted cream etc. comfy beds and bedding . A one off apartment with great balcony and conservatory. Beautiful views Some small maintenance jobs need attention. Door lock in en suite, light switch in en-suite. Needs a dehumidifier in middle bedroom. Decor a bit tatty, some damp damage.
- Garry 2rs (9/5): - Views outstanding and location superb. Facilities all good. Not the owners fault but the car parking is a challenge. My tip would be use car park on Fowey side and get ferry across on foot. Car parking is free from 4pm to 9am.
- Beverly (10/5): Absolutely lovely with wonderful memories made. - Everything was perfect. Lisa was the most amazing host and really thought about everything you would need to enjoy a break away from home. Parking
- Amanda (10/5): Can’t wait to go again, absolutely loved it - Very well equipped, beautiful setting. Very organised. Exceptionally clean, very close to the estuary, everything provided. We felt very well looked after Arts and craft feel; three bedrooms, with onsuite, in two. Lounge/diner, conservatory, terrace with a fab view. All white good, including dish washer, washing machine, microwave all in very good order. Tv and sound system, wi fi
- Whitehead (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (7/5): Disappointed - Fabulous views. The lounge, diner, kitchen and patio are positioned upstairs to make the most of the scenic views. Very well equipped cottage. However, despite the obvious efforts the owners have made, it was let down by the damp, musty smell downstairs where the bedrooms are placed. It is an overpowering smell immediately on entering the property. The towels also smelled musty. I have developed a respiratory response to the hidden spores in the atmosphere.
I booked this property on the understanding that there would be more than one bathroom. I was unable to use the ensuite shower in my bedroom…no water ensued!
We were disappointed with the facilities which were advertised.
- Stephanie (8/5): Lovely cottage with a great host - Great location with a lovely view of Fowey, host was great and lift us a lovely gift As it is an old cottage it was a bit musty however we had been left with some air freshener sachets. It was also quite dusty so one of my family members had to use an inhaler
- Raju (10/5): Exceptional -
- Candis (9/5): A perfectly pleasing stay within a bustling location. - The check in process worked as desired and the host was very gracious to leave a few goodies as a welcome to Cornwall.
- Robert (10/5): What a fantastic property - Travelled with my elder sister and our 2 teenage boys. The house was perfect à nd very well fitted out with everything we could need. The views of the River and ferry are mesmerising - better than watching telly.
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional - Tabs Cottage met our expectations in every way from the ease of key collection to the superbly equipped kitchen, CD collection (my son love the CD player itself as well as the CD 's) to the simply wonderful view of the Fowey River and the fascination of watching the ferry plying back and forth. Fowey is a lovely town to visit off season and despite the storm we felt snug and safe in the cottage. Our host was also very clear and accurate in all her communications. Sadly, having to leave a day early as we had problems with our own home as a result of the storm! Our host was charming when I rang to tell her.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Fantastic.. we’ll be back! - Location and so comfy Maybe a black out blind in front bedroom
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Shawn (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage in a good location with a pub literally next door which serves very good food. Everything worked and is very clean. Would not hesitate to come again. Will recommend to friends. Parking sometimes was a problem. We had to park up the hill.
- Alison (8/5): Tabs cottage - Very comfortable and exceptionally well equipped cottage.
Very attentive host who kept us informed.
Excellent views however, be mindful there are 2 sides of the estuary and the cottage is on the quiet side.
Only one pub and no shop etc.
You will need to catch the ferry to Fowey if you need anything or want to do anything.
The ferry opens EARLY! and is noisey outside the cottage, it closes early as well so don't get stuck on the otherside as it's an £80 taxi ride home to get you back! No parking. Very Very steep hill to climb to get to and from the car that had to be left outside the village at the top of the lane. Not accessible for the elderly whom we had with us.
- Robert (9/5): Only stayed 3 nights but in a strategic position for our ongoing walk on the South West Coastal Path - Location fabulous, and easy to get to Fowey on the frequent ferry. Good pub and micro distillery next door with excellent food and beer. Easy access as a foot passenger on the ferry to Fowey, Town centre less than 10 mins walk. Don't recommend bringing a large expensive vehicle since the access is difficult with narrow roads and ability to park close to the property can be difficult.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): It was very special - the cottage was perfect! - The location by the slipway has a beautiful view. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped and there was a lovely hamper of wine, coffee and other goodies to welcome us. Even some Deep Heat spray for the aching muscles! Not their fault but parking might be an issue in high season. There's a public carpark about 500 mtrs up a steep hill if you can't park outside, where spaces are limited.
- Sara (7/5): pleasant, fascinating watching daily life on the river but spoilt a little by the building noise and no dog walk - the property was advertised as dog friendly, but there is absolutely no where to take your dog for a walk while at the house. The 2 extremely steep hills either side of the cottage had no pavements and were constantly busy due to the ferry traffic. The pub situated right above the cottage is having extensive building work involving drilling into the cliff side. it was extremely noisy all day Monday to Friday between 8-4:30 we weren’t aware of this at the time of booking and weren’t informed, we may have reconsidered staying during this time if we had known.
Also the lack of a handy dog walk nearby was a big inconvenience
- Ritchie (8/5): Very good - Lovely little cottage located next to the Ferry. Kids enjoyed watching the ferry crossing. Great balcony with lovely views Parking at times was difficult due to nearby pub.
- Mick (9/5): Brilliant location and fabulous, unique property - facilities and location were brilliant - fantastic view of the harbour and Fowey across the water Fowey ferry starts at 7 and cars start queuing about 6.45 so it can be be noisy early on.
- Katie (10/5): Well equipped, Cosy cottage, beautiful location - Would highly recommend Tabs Cottage, the location was stunning. The cottage was amazing, cosy, clean and had everything we needed and more very well equipped kitchen. The views from the cottage were beautiful, I didn’t want to leave. The beds were very comfortable, We all slept well every night. Managed to park on the road right outside the cottage every day we were there. Had dinner in the pub next door one night, it’s a hidden gem the food was amazing. The ferry across to Fowey is literally a stone’s throw away. I would recommend doing the Hall Walk, the views are worth every step. Only thing I would mention is the wardrobes smelt musty so we didn’t use them.
- Simplymarci (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage is fantastic, welcoming, clean and can host 6 people in 3 bedrooms.
Eating on the terrace with the view on the harbour was amazing and our guests and us were delighted by such a lovely view.
The location is handy as well. Parking can be tricky because of the uphill street but we always found a parking space
