• Sindy (10/5): Lovely cosy atmosphere with friendly staff - Lovely cosy atmosphere and great welcome from the staff who were very accommodating and found us a table in the restaurant almost as soon as we arrived, food was delicious as was the beer, room was great and the bed was one of the comfiest we have slept in. Breakfast was delicious and the morning staff were lovely and friendly too, even bringing our dog a sausage to start her day which she loved.. would stay here again without a doubt What’s not to like

• Michelle (7/5): The hotel is dated but you do get an email giving guests warning about this.the staff are great and can’t do enough for - The staff are supper friendly, it has a great bar and the food was delicious in the restaurant It’s very dated, from the outside it looks closed. Our room smelled of damp and the carpet was a bit sticky in places, the windows are old with gaps so a bit noisy, not sure the last time they were cleaned

• Phannin (10/5): Black Isle must visit - Amazing place to stay! If you’re a whisky fan, they have an incredible selection. We tried the Whisky Society Ardbeg, and it was one of the best whiskies I’ve had so far. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and the water pressure for the shower was great. The staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable. We could stay a bit longer than a night there!

• Tracey (7/5): A Quieky Highland treasure with lots of gin - The best thing about The Anderson are the Staff. They are all friendly, welcoming, super helpful and love the banter. Quirky bars, lots of dogs, whisky galore, American style menu which the staff can alter to personal requirements, superb breakfast and yet more whisky & gin. A 12 hour power outage due to Storm Amy didn’t dampen spirits with tea-lights & guests making for a memorable night. Perfect location to explore the local area and easy, free parking around the Square. We were in a twin room 9 which was comfortable and had a lovely view. Small ensuite with fresh towels and daily house keeping. The hotel was full with many guests being repeat visitors or undertaking the NC500. Thanks to Luke, Jim the owner and his son and the girls for a mini break we won’t forget. On arrival we were surprised to see how rundown the exterior looked. With flakey paint and poorly plants. The traditional Scottish decor is faded & aged. Furniture felt sticky and dusty. However please look beyond your first visual impression and see the genuine warmth of the establishment

• Konrad (10/5): Authentic hotel, great food and pub, friendly staff - The Anderson was what we expected from the description, but even better. It is the perfect stay if you not only want a room but also very nice food and drinks in the restaurant and pub downstairs. The breakfast was hearty and delicious as well and the staff is the friendliest you can wish for. We would come back anytime and definitely recommend staying here!
• Louise (10/5): Superb. Would stay again. - The Anderson was a charming, comfortable hotel in the heart of Fortrose. All the staff were polite, attentive and the room was super. Breakfast was excellent - fuelled me up for the day!!! Would stay there again, and would recommend to others. There were some areas of the hotel which could have done with maybe updating - the stair carpet felt a little worn, but overall, the hotel felt very clean and welcoming.

Das Frühstück war in Ordnung. Kostenfreie Parkplätze gab es ganz in der Nähe. Das Bad war schon älter und passte irgendwie nicht zum dich gut ausgestatteten Zimmer. Das Bett war zu nah an die Tür zum Bad gestellt - das lässt sich bestimmt durch umstellen der Möbel verbessern.

• William (7/5): Quirky venue but the friendly service is the best thing. - We received a warm welcome at the Anderson and throughout the staff were very friendly and efficient. I think the best description of this hotel is quirky. The decor is quaint and a bit tired but on the whole everything works. Breakfast was good but some people may have missed not having cereal or fruit. We ate dinner in the hotel and enjoyed it - the menu is certainly different from what I would have expected in the Highlands but that's not a criticism. The fresh fish and seafood on offer was excellent. My room on the second floor was adequate for one person but would have been a squeeze for two as there is zero storage space. The hanging rail does not really work and there was no rail or hook for hanging the bath towel after use.

Parfaitement située sur "Black Isle" au début de la petite plage et presqu'ile de Fortrose.. avec son minuscule port en dessous de St Andrews Church ! Un ravissement tellement dans son jus de cette partie des Highlands ....un peu pauvre mais tellement attachante ! Avec un Jim à la manœuvre, malgré les années, doublé par une équipe d'expérience très agréable et toujours aux petits soins. Rien ou presque rien....

No térreo há um pub típico escocês, muito aconchegante! Ficar hospedado no The Anderson foi uma das experiências mais marcantes da minha vida! Recomendo a todos e posso dizer que eu voltaria a me hospedar lá mil vezes.

L’hotel no és luxós, però té l’encant dels llocs especials. Té un pub molt autèntic on vam poder escoltar música escocesa en directe. En el pub tenen més de 200 whyskies diferents. L’esmorzar és excepcional i també hi vam sopar i vam menjar bé. No hi ha ascensor.

La proximité du site d'observation des dauphins (magnifique!) Le restaurant bruyant le soir, la salle de bain-toilettes etroite, pas de wifi dans chambre au fond du couloir, bruit de la rue (beaucoup de circulation), le breakfast améliorable (plus de choix!)

• Conrad (8/5): Tolle Unterkunft für Schottlandreisende, die auf der Durchreise sind - Das Hotel befindet sich über einem urchigen Pub. Das Zimmer war zwar nicht allzu gross, aber sauber und zweckmässig eingerichtet. Das Personal war sehr nett und das Abendessen im Pub war wirklich gut. Das Hotel liegt im Zentrum von Fortrose. Mit dem Auto ist man in ca 5 Minuten am Chanonry Lighthouse, wo man mit etwas Glück Delfine beobachten kann. (Gezeitenwechsel beachten) Wir waren kaum da, und schon tauchten tatsächlich und nur wenige Meter vom Strand eine Gruppe von Delfinen und auch Seehunde auf. Zum Zentrum von Inverness sind es per Auto etwa 20 Minuten Kein Kühlschrank auf dem Zimmer, das ist aber das Einzige was wir etwas vermisst haben

• Allison Reekie (6/5): - Staff were welcoming, restaurant staff were numerous and pleasant (in the evening). The evening meal and breakfast was good. The lady at breakfast was welcoming and chatty. The hotel is clear that it is a small basic, family run hotel, not part of a chain so we were not expecting a deluxe experience. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom functional. One tiny niggle - I like a clean table when eating - I do not like to sit down and feel a sticky surface under my hands. Maybe a problem with the covering on the tables but the plates and cups at breakfast were actually stuck to the surface.

Pościel i ręczniki całe szczęście były czyste natomiast cała reszta pozostawiała wiele do życzenia. Śniadanie również nie do końca spełniło oczekiwania. Zapach i czystość (a raczej brak czystosci)

Great hotel, bar, restaurant and our one night with the dog was fantastic. Room was what we needed, welcome was what we needed, more interest in Cooper, the dog, than us but that made is feel more welcome. Have recommended and will continue to do so. All the best. Despite being a very handsome mid forties guy, all the attention was placed on a idiot black lab who spends his time wagging his tail and using his puppy dog eyes to tell everyone that he needs more food.

• Marikie (8/5): Don’t judge this “book” by it’s cover! - Once inside we could not have asked for better treatment. We loved the dinner and the breakfast was our best so far in Scotland. The vibe in the bar was very hearty. The receptionist, bar man and breakfast chef were all lovely. I would never have set foot in this hotel judging from the outside.😂

Some reviews suggest it’s shabby chic and to look beyond the tired exterior. Frankly it’s just shabby and not good value. Poor quality breakfast.

• Ricky (9/5): Very pleasantly surprised and impressed, and already excitedly planning to stay again! Thanks to everyone at the Anderso - The welcome we got, the wonderful staff, the decor, the fabulous bars, the great food and drink, the amazing vibrant atmosphere, the comfortable room and the incredible feeling of being in some form of unique, living, memorabilia museum! A hugely enjoyable stay! First impressions were not all that great. To be honest, when we stopped outside the Anderson we almost turned and drove off again! The outside of the hotel is in need of a lick of paint and a general clean up. New or refurbished windows wouldn’t go amiss either. The exterior could look pretty fabulous in an otherwise very ordinary high street. The interior could do with a little bit of love and attention as well, however I would never suggest any major changes take place other than some minor decoration, painting etc. The place is too special and unique to change anything.
